We came to Rosey Baby after my daughter visited Mississippi State University. She'd been asking for crawfish, and they were right on time good. I ordered the alligator starter, shrimp combo for my aunt and I, and then my mom had the catfish platter. All of the food we ordered was amazing, along with a great host. As soon as we came in, we were greeted and seated. The only recommendation is to ask if you can sub the white rice for something else.

The crawfish nachos were amazing, and I loved the creole sauce on there. The daiquiris were really good, and the blue Hawaiian was my favorite. The shrimp were pretty good.

Great place to eat! We were just passing through and decided to stop here and eat. So glad we did. Owners were super sweet. Staff was great. Food delicious. Will be back again!

Luckily I made a reservation because this place was packed, and for good reason. The food was delicious. They also have 2 dollar mimosas on Saturday nights which were yummy. The server was very attentive and friendly. I can't wait to go back!

We recently had my husbands birthday here and the food was great! Our server was sweet and attentive for how busy they were. The shrimp was great and the best place to get crawfish! Fun atmosphere and the best beer selection!

Great spot to eat and drink. The best alligator I've ever had, and the bread bowl is fried!

DISGUSTING…. Yea don’t believe that. It was delicious. quick service as well! My server was very sweet, and took care of us the entire time!! The OWNER came and spoke with us and offered a free cocktail. I’ve been here multiple times, and it’s only gotten better. So glad to see the improvement!

Definitely here for the vibes. Service was absolutely wonderful. Aidan was so helpful and gave lots of recs. Great place for fun cocktails. Food was solid, we got the nachos (but with fries instead) and the fettuccini. They were both good, not super special, but yummy. Will be back for sure.

Thank you for being a part of our journey. Rosey Baby was our first stop when we came to visit MSU when my son was deciding where he would attend. Today, we made our last trip to Rosey Baby… to say goodbye and enjoy one last bite of the that fabulous food!! Move in- Bulldog family weekend- move in first apartment- football games- new girlfriend- new friends- 21st birthday (fish bowl)- “mama missed her boy” weekend- Covid shutdown when he could get takeout and so many nights between…. Now for final move out. Y’all have been there through it all… the one constant. Fabulous good, amazing service… we will miss yall!! If you’re moving you kid to Starkville, check out Rosey Baby and make them a tradition…. You won’t be sorry!! Hail State!! Donna and Colby Windham

I can trust them for catering needs, taking a crew for a meal, or personally enjoying a great time any day. Fun atmosphere, clean, great food. Book them for tailgate events!.Take the fun to your location! I will keep working with them for sure!

There isn't a bad dish on the menu. The atmosphere is exactly as it should be and the staff is attentive. Our server (the bartender as well) knew menu and was always there to fill up your glass. Don't pass this by if you're in Starkville for a ballgame.

Incredibly atmosphere, plenty of TV’s, play music after 10 if you’re still at the bar or getting drinks. Bartenders are always friendly. Got to get a fishbowl at least once you’re in town.

I am from New Orleans and I was looking for authentic cuisine that I grew up with. We arrived early, but it was open early which was great. The decorations were cool and set in an old train depo giving a delightful vintage atmosphere. We received prompt and courteous service, and an accurate description of the dishes. I ordered the Gumbo with a side of Etouffee and Red beans and rice. The Gumbo was a masterpiece! I hope my grandmother does not turn over in her grave because although it was not exactly the taste I was raised on I believe it was a big improvement! EVERYTHING was delicious, and we ordered beignets which also had a different texture, but I think that Rosey Baby's Beignet Bites were the best pastries I have ever eaten anywhere! I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone, and will be returning here every chance I get! Thank you , Justin for a great meal. Bon temps rouler ! =)

When I attended grad school in Starkville, Rosey Baby was a cool place to get good food. Nothing has changed. Our bartender, Ava, was friendly and helpful. I ordered a bowl of shrimp gumbo. One of the best gumbos I’ve tasted! From a boy from Louisiana: Justin, you killed it!

Visiting Starkville wanted to try something new, and I picked Rosey. The food was delicious. We ordered two appetizers, shrimp nachos and alligators, and the alligator was good first time trying it. Then we had shrimp gumbo and a blackened shrimp poboy. We even had dessert it was delicious 😋. Our waitress was very helpful with drink and food recommendations. The only thing I wasn't really pleased with was that there was another waitress vaping with her customers a few tables down.

I love this place....feels like home. Food was comforting and the fishbowls are to die for. The real cherry on top was that I drank three fishbowls and they let me drive myself home. If that isn't service I don't know what is! Will definitely come back.

We love Rosey Baby. It is a must stop every time we come to Starkville. The cocktail menu is amazingly versatile and the craft beer selection is HUGE. Tonight we had the Rosey Burger, Cajun stuffed ribeye, red beans and rice, and Cajun quesadilla. WE ATE EVERYBITE. For dessert we had our favorite the beignets, and tried something new the strawberry butter cake. Can't wait until our next visit.

Every time I visit Starkville I have to stop and have something off the menu doesn't matter what it's all wonderful. I have never had anything but great service there.

This place serves the best wings in town, and they have a great selection of draft beers.

The food is good and hot. Tastes like the menu would imply. Atmosphere is good. Lots of college kids, but adults too. Relaxing and Good! I wanted to compliment the manager. He was nice & appreciative.

We arrived at 12:50pm on a Tuesday afternoon. Only 1 other couple was there. Our waitress was nice but new to her job. Drinks came fast but but food took over 30 minutes to deliver and it was hot. My daughter ordered the seafood boil and it was cool. I had shrimp tacos and they were cool when delivered. Flavor and seasoning of the food was great. I'll chalk this one up to midweek trainee. I would definitely give this place another try but during a busier time of day or weekend. Loved the decor and Atomphere!

B

Food has a good taste and I did receive enough food but their rosey fries are like kettle chips. My first time there and management came out to talk to me, which made me feel like they really cared about my opinion of the food. He explained the rosey chips to me. I really appreciated that.

I absolutely loved the look of this place!! I started to get a little off-put with the wait, but I understood with there being seafood involved. With the tip, it came to 60 bc yes, even to-go I will tip. My mom grew up in Louisiana, so unless we make it ourselves or make a trip, we usually don't get decent Cajun french style food. Take-aways: •Understand you will wait a little longer than you would at other restaurants, they're cooking your order that likely has seafood in it as it was ordered. •You will spend what you would normally spend in a sit down restaurant. •Kids menu exists, but I did not see many options, I would say steer clear for picky eaters.

Fried shrimp were great, bacon wrapped shrimp were good too. Crawfish were the perfect level of spicy! The rice, once again, is so nasty: it is inedible. As easy as rice is to cook, they have failed every time I have eaten there. It is literally crunchy and had the worst texture, and for some strange reason they serve it with every dish it feels like.

Traveling through and we decided to try. We ordered Angel wings, Crawfish Etouffee with a side of catfish, crawfish nachos and a shrimp boil. The Etouffee was amazingly COLD, had to get our server to heat it up. (The catfish was delicious and may be the best we have ever had though) The Etouffee was basically a bowl of rice and not flavorful at all. Very little crawfish and Very disappointing! The nachos were also coldish, which was weird because it had melted cheese on top. I knew the shrimp boil was going to be a ‘dry’ boil from looking at the review pics so I had our server bring out melted butter on the side and he added garlic to it which was great. The flavor was good, but I enjoy a juicy boil. Shrimp was good and a great size. The corn in my boil was sour and going bad, so I couldn’t eat it at all. The Angel wing oysters were topped with so much and so salty, that the oyster’s were drowned in it. Had to scape the toppings off to just eat the oysters. The nachos were the best out of this whole meal which is a little sad. I had a dirty water glass I noticed after I drank the whole glassful. Overall, for the money we dropped here, it was sorely disappointing.

So this is suprisingly one of the only places around Starkville that I didn't have a great experience with. I went with some friends for a birthday one time and we were going to get some drinks. They have a nice beer selection but their other drinks are okay. Their food on the other hand was horrible. I think it was the fries (chips) they had but they tasted burnt and nobody at our table could enjoy the food while drinking. We had to literally grab food after somewhere else because we couldn't eat it. Besides that though the staff are very nice and it's good service.

Jon Boyles

Great atmosphere and great service but the food was not great. I got the cajun crawfish mac and cheese and it looked like mediocre mac and cheese with crawfish just tossed on top. The crawfish were rubbery. To be fair it isn’t crawfish seasoning but the presentation just made it unappetizing. It also was a little pricey for what we got by about 10-20%

J
Jean Crews

Very disappointed. The appetizer came with our meal and no dip. We finally got drink refills after our meals were finished. The red beans and rice tasted off. Way too tangy. The waiters seemed less than enthused to be there. I hate to leave bad reviews but for the price, I expected more.

Anthony Zaffiro

The food was decent. The service was awful. I don't know if it was our waitress or the kitchen, but who doesn't serve oysters with cocktail, hot sauce or horseradish, and crackers? It didn't even have a lemon on the tray. Maybe she was too busy chatting with her friends in the corner... I left her a 5% tip and I routinely tip 20-25% and try to give the server the benefit of the doubt. But when you see her walk ignore our table to sit and chat with a table of her friends, you have to show it with your tip. I bet I would have tipped more than her friends did if she would have given jus just a little bit of attention...

Steak was great. Hot and very flavorful. Chicken tenders for kids were good. Crawfish tails were way over fried. With no seasoning. Cajun mac and cheese was just mac and cheese with whatever you chose to put on it. No cajun seasoning on the mac and cheese. Service was pretty slow but they were really busy, probably needed more help. Would return for the steak on a night i didnt mind to sit and wait.

Visited here two nights ago with a reservation for a group of 25. We were seated on the patio, which was neat, and our waitress was very friendly and well-spoken, but the positives ended abruptly at that point. We expected the meal to be a lengthy process because of our large number + the regular business of a Wednesday night in a college town, but what we got was ridiculous, bordering on ripoff territory. Several plates did not receive but half of what their meal included, and we alerted our server who attempted to get it taken care of but the kitchen staff never came through for her, even after multiple reminders. What makes this worse is that the plates that were missing MULTIPLE items were still charged FULL PRICE at $30+/plate. On top of that, more than a dozen people in our group said their food was ice cold when they received it. On the final bill, we knew there would be a hefty gratuity, which is totally fine, but then they added a random $20 "administrative fee," on a subtotal already over $400, with tax and gratuity was now a $600 bill. There were also 5 "phantom" meals on our ticket that the serving crew could not explain and did not belong to us. We had 20 kids, 6 adults, and 3 appetizers, but were charged for 34 meals. We tried to work things out kindly and patiently with the obviously overwhelmed staff, but the young man identifying as an assistant manager was stand-offish and could not provide a response. Again, we knew this would be an ordeal with so many people and expected complications, but the refusal to communicate was a deal-breaker. If it were not for the atmosphere and our friendly waitress, this would be a 1-star review. As much money as we were obviously going to spend with that many people, most establishments would go out of their way to help, at least in making sure we all got food. I'm sure this place is much better than the experience we had this one night, but I would be leery or recommending it to anyone for a while.

The menu was limited and the steak was fatty . The service and atmosphere were good . The cocktails were good . Just not my kinda menu . Ok but not special

R

Very disappointing. My food was room temperature at best, my husbands was at least warm. Our food came out in a more than reasonable time frame so I can only assume they plate some things way ahead of time and it sits around waiting to be heated and served and they forgot to heat mine. The rice was mushy and someone should tell the cook that blackened is a seasoning not charring the fish to the point it tastes like charcoal.

This place has so much potential! There was hardly anyone there when we went and I know why. The food is expensive and the portions are small. Platters should be a platter but the grouper was one piece of fish! The wording needs to be changed on the menu and if new orleans food is gonna be served then it needs to be upgraded to taste like New Orleans food. The atmosphere was amazing and the bartender was but that was it!! Very disappointed!! I'd only be back for drinks and appetizers if I come back

Food was nasty and blend. Service was ok. RAW chicken and im never going back. Go to Walk On, GOOD food and it was hot and get your money worth. It is not a ordinary seafood play. Boudin balls taste just like rice, Mac n cheese was dry and everything was nasty. I can go on and on but find out for yourself

Food is awful! Our party all ordered different things and everyone left hungry, we ended up having to find something else to eat! Do not order crawfish, oysters, Cajun fried chicken, red beans and rice or burger!

R
RJ Kelley

I went here for my friend’s birthday dinner. It took an hour and a half for us to get our food, an hour in of which they informed us they had no rice, so some of our party had to switch their orders up. Once we got our food, some of it was wrong and all of it was cold, and one dish was entirely missing. The food that was correct was also pretty bland. It then took 30 minutes for us to get our checks. Upon bringing them to us, the receipts were wrong, and then we were told the system was down. Our waitress wrote our receipts by hand and then we still got the wrong receipts two more times. Finally, we were able to pay, and our cards were messed up (one was charged for two different meals, etc). And at the end of it all, we were still charged full price and full gratuity (we had a party of 9). I understand 9 can be a lot, but we gave notice and were welcomed to come eat there. Rosey Baby used to be so good and had such great customer service, and the food and drinks used to be great, but this experience really soured my opinion of them. I doubt any of us will ever return. The waitress was doing her best though, I don’t blame her at all.

C
Cjhar Fairley

Honestly the food was not good at all. Clearly no effort was put into cooking it. I expected my to go order to be ready when I got there, but it wasn’t even though it took me almost an hour to get there. I will never order again and I do not recommend AT ALL.

I just have to say this is my second time coming here and both times have been very bad experiences. The first time that I’ve come I’ve sat in here for about 20 to 25 minutes it was not served or waited on as far as my second time coming to give it a benefit of the doubt and try it again. I ordered crawfish and something to drink and was there for about 45 minutes and never asked if I needed anything else so with that being said, I hope others do not have to experience it for their self

R
Robert Jamerson

Went there at 9pm on a Friday ordered a grill cheese and chicken platter. At 9:45 the manger came and told us that the waiter dropped our food and that they had already shut down for the night so they did the best they could to fulfill our order. At this point our server came with our our orders stating that only the fries had fallen on the floor but she saved the rest of the order. The order was incorrect and the food presented was overly well done. When these issues were stated to the server no options to correct these issues were presented. In conclusion the low rating is for the poor customer service and food.

The food was terrible I ordered online I was inside waiting within 5 minutes of ordering. Received my food the fries were disgusting, Mac and cheese was cold, ice cream for my pecan pie was melted before I left the parking lot shrimp was over Cooked and dirty tasting.

Food took an hour. Red beans and rice… rice was hard, dish was cool, red beans and sausage ok but overcooked. Fried catfish, very good. French fries good. Wings awful. Crawfish etoufee edible but not great. Cajun pasta with crawfish so thick it tasted like eating a plate of thick flour sauce. Our waitress was very sweet and apologetic for our food taking forever, never saw or spoke to a manager.

Visited Starkville on business and invited my coworkers to Rosey Baby, as I enjoyed this establishment during my time (20 years ago) at MS State. I ate gumbo and experienced the worst case of food poisoning that you could imagine. I ended up calling an ambulance to my hotel room at 3am to see if I was dying. I called the restaurant the next morning and reported the incident. I asked the manager to have the owner call me but never heard from them. Couldn’t make it to my meeting the next day and needed an IV when I made it back home to replenish fluids. Beware.

M

The worth place I have ever been they wouldn’t let us pay one at a time then they charge us to much money ,,said the would put it back on my card that was a lie brought food out we didn’t order this place was terrible

This place needs major help. Food was cold. Crawfish were black and rubbery. They ran out of corn and potato’s. Checked in at the front upon arrival. Was told 20 minutes wait. Sat at the back bar. After 30 min I checked back in. They claimed to not have my name. They got us sat within 10 min which was much appreciated. Then waited 30-40 min for a waiter. They said they were out of menus. Ordered after going to find someone to help us. Waited 45 min For fried onions and crawfish. Crawfish were black, Cold and rubbery. I’ve never been served black rubbery crawfish before. This whole terrible experience cost me 3.5 hours on a Saturday. Go get fast food. You will enjoy it much more than this place. 😔☹️ Had high hopes. Will never be back.

Waitress was good but the Food was cold when we got it and then when asked to remake it they put it in a microwave. Then we did not finish our meals because the food was over spiced and tasted bad. We asked for a refund and the young manager told us she couldn’t do it. Then I woke up this morning and my stomach has hurt ever since.
