We were the first to show up and we had young kids in tow. Despite this place being very nice they were more than happy to have us. We ended hanging out with both waiters, the owner, and the chef. All of which were very friendly and warm. The food was local and fresh which is what we were going for and we loved it.

Discovered this restaurant with the family on a day trip to the island. Its on the backstreets away from the coast but from the menu and the staff you could tell instantly this was going to be a fantastic experience. We were not disappointed, we were made very welcome and the food was exceptional, highest quality products cooked to perfection. We normally wouldn’t have dessert but our kids tried a few and were very happy they did. Would highly recommend this amazing secret hidden gem.

A pleasant experience. It was not the best scenic wise, but everything else was delivered, and the service was quick. The food was quality, as was the wine.

Came here after reading the reviews, frankly felt they were misleading. The food was ok (we liked only 2 out of the 4 main courses we ordered.) The staff was short for the amount of people in the restaurant so the service was mediocre. The wine was fabulous (and the only reason I did not give them a 1 star review). Also, while there is an English explanation on the menu, they choose to use a fancy cursive font that was very hard to read. They should fire their graphic designer, and find someone who understands the value of clarity and simplicity.

Ara has pretentions as a fine-dining restaurant: only six tables in an inner courtyard shaded by vines, personalised service, tiny portions. (Unidentified) wine is served by the glass. Only two dishes on the menu were said to contain "lake fish," which was disappointing, given that we were supposedly on the Fishermen's Island. All the other dishes could have been served anywhere in the world: lasagne, spaghetti bolognese, pesto. Since the dining area is so small, the atmosphere is determined by the identity of the other diners. Even though we were out of season, we found ourselves with a group of tourists with fretful children, exhausted from having to traipse around another "must-see" destination. The Isola dei Pescatori is a victim of severe mass tourism. The island has lost whatever charm it may once have had. The very reasons for coming here have dissappeared under the sheer weight of people following the same recommendations in the same guidebooks. Just as we did, unfortunately.

Great food in a nice ambience. Very calm setting and attentive service. Lots of extra touches such as a mise en bouche and mignardises. Staff was quite patient in explaining the menu including details about the ingredients and sourcing. Servers showed a sense of pride about the food and the chef even paid us a visit to inquire about how we like the food. Try if you are in the area.

Caprese salad" was three slices of mozzarella with some cherry tomatoes on the side. pasta dishes were good. Service was slow and not especially gracious.
