As a food enthusiast, I recently had the pleasure of dining at Hi Ho Burger Restaurant in Universal City, Los Angeles, and I must say that the experience surpassed all my expectations. From the moment I stepped into this charming establishment, I was greeted with a warm and inviting ambiance that set the tone for an exceptional culinary journey. The first thing that caught my attention was the impressive menu, offering a wide range of mouthwatering burger options that catered to every taste. Whether you're a meat lover, vegetarian, or looking for a vegan-friendly option, Hi Ho Burger has something to satisfy everyone's cravings. One of the highlights of my visit was the impeccable service. The staff members were not only attentive and friendly but also extremely knowledgeable about the menu. They were more than happy to guide me through the various burger choices, ensuring that I made the right selection based on my preferences. Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the burgers themselves. Each burger was a masterpiece, crafted with the finest ingredients and bursting with flavor. The patties were perfectly cooked to my liking, maintaining a juicy and tender texture that was simply irresistible. The buns were soft and fresh, complementing the fillings without overpowering them. One of the standout burgers I tried was the Classic Hi Ho Burger. With its perfectly seasoned patty, melted cheese, tangy pickles, and a secret sauce that added a delightful twist, it instantly became a personal favorite.. In conclusion, my experience at Hi Ho Burger Restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. From the inviting atmosphere to the impeccable service and, most importantly, the extraordinary burgers, every aspect of my visit left me thoroughly satisfied. If you find yourself in Universal City, Los Angeles, Hi Ho Burger is a must-visit destination for a truly delightful culinary adventure. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I never leave reviews but felt I had to for this place. The food is incredible! One of the best tasting burgers I have ever had! Get the pastrami burger! The employees were all very friendly and I will definitely be coming back soon!

Great burgers, with a chill indoor/outdoor seating area.

Best fast food burger, period. Perfectly seasoned, offered with super friendly service. The fries are also excellent, and travel well bc the vented bag keeps them crispy.

Halal wagyu burgers - what more can I say! Pricey but they generally do meet that price with quality at all of their locations.

love this burger spot. the wagu burgers are to die for . this location is great and peaceful. the standard double burger here is great. but if you want a single just ask or if you want a triple .

Interesting mix of people here but the staff was great and the burger was easily a 9.5/10

As a crazy person, I order from here at least once per week. This is the best burger I’ve had in LA. I’m from Ohio where we have incredible burgers, so you can trust me. My only gripe is that the pickles are too sweet.

This location was low key lacking before but they have fixed all that and the quality is much better again!!

Best burger in La bands down. The fries are so fricken good and so is the ceasar salad. I honestly have to stop myself from eating here everyday. So fricken good!

The Burgers are good, little pricey for what hippy get, but still good. Fires are okay, not that great, but don't get me started on the service. The staff that appears to be all African American are very unfriendly and I see others posted the same. Hope the owner reads this.

Amazing triple patty pastrami burger!!!! The fries are so good as well. Highly recommend this place if you are in the area

BEST BURGERS AND FRIES. The food arrives on asymmetrical oval plates and it’s simple—simply fantastic. The bun is light so as not to get in the way of the burger. The burger itself is exceptional, two rich patties, a bit salty (which is good), and full of flavor. The cheese is sharp and a perfect compliment for the beef. There’s subtle onion jam, delicious house-made pickles and shredded lettuce (if you want it—I don’t believe lettuce belongs anywhere outside of a salad). The French Fries are fantastic!!! They're twice-fried meaning they're crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. They're so good it would be worth going here just for the fries! It’s easy and free to park (for 90 minutes), and the small mall is nicely designed with a river running through it and lots of outdoor dining tables. HiHo has indoor dining, but everyone was eating outside on the big deck. A burger was $9, fries $5, all reasonable. You get a number and they bring the food to you—no tipping. Unfortunately I didn't notice that they had pie on the menu or I would have tried it--next time (there will definitely be a next time!) Here's how I rate popular LA burger joints: In-n-out is the best everyday burger. I used to think Shake Shack was a good next-level burger but now I find it bland. Burger Lounge is one of my favorite elevated burger places (great grass-fed burgers and onion rings). Now HiHo cheeseburger is added to my burger favorites! I shall return!

Finally tried Hiho and was thoroughly impressed with both the quality of their wagyu burgers and their excellent customer service. The meat was incredibly flavorful and tender, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend giving Hiho a try for your next burger craving!

So delicious, my favorite place since today! I love the clean and organic ingredients and the very careful cooking preparation, giving it all so wonderful taste. The vegan burger patty is yummy. Just be aware that the bun has eggs in it, but you can ask for a lettuce wrap like I did. The fries are top of the top in LA, same as the wagyu beef burgers. Ate it all, loved it all, plus the staff is very nice.

Alright, burger aficionados, I've just experienced burger nirvana, and it's called Hi-Ho Burger in Encino. Forget everything you thought you knew about patties and buns, because Hi-Ho is rewriting the burger rulebook. Let's start with the meat. They use 100% grass-fed Wagyu beef, and you can taste the difference. It's rich, juicy, and melts in your mouth like butter. This isn't your average ground beef; this is a culinary masterpiece between two buns. Each bite is a symphony of flavor. The best part is the meat is Halal. They don't overload their burgers with a million toppings. They let the quality of the ingredients shine. It's a classic done to absolute perfection. The fries? Crispy, golden, and perfectly salted. They're the ideal companion to the burger, and you'll find yourself fighting for the last one. The fries are served in a freaking awesome brown paper bag with holes in the shape of H. A very artistic touch. Picture is included below. But it's not just the food that makes Hi-Ho so special. It's the atmosphere. It's clean, and inviting. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, clearly passionate about their burgers. And there is a feeling of a place that cares about quality. This isn't just a burger joint; it's an experience. It's a reminder of what a truly great burger should taste like. It's a testament to the power of simple ingredients done exceptionally well. If you're looking for the best burger in Encino, scratch that, the best burger period, head to Hi-Ho Burger. You won't be disappointed. In fact, you'll probably be planning your next visit before you've even finished your first bite. Prepare to have your burger expectations shattered and your taste buds forever grateful. Hi-Ho Burger, you've earned a permanent spot in my burger-loving heart!

Incredible taste & texture of the bun and meat EVERY TIME. The fries are extremely fresh and never overcooked. The pastrami option is cool but I do wish they had regular bacon and I’d be 100% satisfied. Love this place!

This place has been on my list for awhile now and definitely wasn’t disappointed. Hiho is the only burger restaurant that exclusively serves 100% grass-fed Wagyu beef. Burger patties are thin smashburger style so a double is the way to go if you normally get a single. Bun is soft. Fries are soooo good, cut with the skin on and are super delicious crispy but seasoned to perfection, soft and tasty. I normally don’t like mustard but just order it the way it’s served and enjoy. It’s an order at the counter type restaurant and find a seat although they do bring your food to you. They said wait for the burger was 30 minutes, definitely didn’t take that long but regardless worth the wait. What made the dinner even better was the staff was so friendly and attentive. Excellent service. Restaurant is located at the Sportmans lodge shopping center. You can enter the parking lot through Ventura Blvd or Coldwater Canyon. It’s free parking for first 90 minutes.

They serve the very best wagu burgers and the wagu pastrami Ashton cheese fries and fresh pickles are great too. Well worth the bad parking situation. Amazed! I got a triple lettuce wrapped cheeseburger. No one can come close to that wagu flavor for a good price!

Absolutely delish - and quick! I’m so glad they added this restaurant in the mall. It’s a great contrast to the other ones (which are also delicious). We went at 7pm on a Tuesday and there was no line. I got a double HiHo Cheeseburger and a side of pickles. I didn’t even put the burger down, it was so tasty! The beef itself could be served on a platter. I definitely recommend this for a group or a casual date!

Came to try the Willie Mae friend chicken tender sandwich. Really quick service, even though the restaurant was quite full. Presentation looked great. The whole sandwich was very tasty, hot, crunchy - all the things you’d want. I think I’m just not as big a fan of the beer batter style friend chicken compared to some others. It was also on the pricey side compared to local competition. Overall very good, I’ll be back to try the burgers.

The best burgers, fries, milkshakes and pies. What can't they do? At today's family and friends opening, I finally tried the fried chicken sandwich, and it knocked me out of my socks! The batter was light and airy, almost like a tempura. The chicken was juicy with a slight kick to the sauce. It's gonna be tough to choose between the burger and the fried chicken moving forward! The valley is so happy to welcome HiHo Cheeseburger - the best burger in LA!

You're paying about $15.60 for a double cheeseburger and fries no drink. Fries absolutely blew me away 10/10 some of the best fries I've ever had. Burger was a bit smaller than expected, but still really good 7.5./10. Definitely worth a try, it won't disappoint.

Delicious cheeseburger and crispy fries. I got the Hiho single patty cheeseburger (which you can request even if it's not explicit on their menu) and an order of regular fries. Prices are comparable to other fast casual burger places. But I think quality and taste is better than the likes of Shake Shack. The only thing I didn't like was there was only 1 door for in and out, which is inconvenient when then place gets busy.

HiHo Cheeseburger is a burger spot that prides itself on using 100% grass-fed Wagyu beef sourced from sustainable, GMO-free farms in New Zealand. The burgers are prepared in a simple and healthy style, yet the rich flavor of the beef truly stands out, with a perfectly seared finish that makes every bite satisfying. It feels like a cleaner, less guilty option for those moments when you’re craving something indulgent, since it balances comfort food with quality ingredients. The restaurant itself is bright, modern, and very clean, while the staff are warm and friendly. It’s a welcoming space that feels easy to enjoy whether you’re dining alone, with friends, or bringing the whole family.

This is a perfect double cheeseburger. I had mine made sans lettuce and ketchup and it was sublime. Sitting in the shade of a jacaranda tree will devouring the burger and chasing it with a Firestone 805 is an excellent way to enjoy a late lunch.

High Quality Burger. Nothing fancy or unique (not in a bad way) it's just pure good burger. Buns were perfect and the meat was of premium grade. Oh the pickles, hell yes. They don't sacrifice quality on anything here. Clean and well managed over all. Situated in a very busy and popular landmark in Studio City. Parking was bit of a challenge but they got valet if you want to pay.

The burgers are the only good thing here. They are yummy and extremely flavordul, but that’s about it. I Would definitely recommend skipping the fries. They just aren’t good unfortunately :( They taste a lil funky and the dip we got with it was not good either.

My friend warned me not to eat here because the service is really bad. I assumed maybe someone was just having a bad day and decided to go. He was right and I won’t be coming back. Erewhon next door has better burgers and the employees are usually very friendly and don’t make you feel like they don’t want to be there and like they hate you for being a customer. Hihi has the most unfriendly employees I’ve seen in a long time.

We've been loyal customers of HiHo since it's first location in Santa Monica - we were there at least a few times a month. This week, we went to the Studio City location for dinner. What we found was disconcerting. There was a very large dog (probably just shy of 3 feet tall and ~70-80 pounds) inside the restaurant when there is ample seating outside. The dog was on top of the booth seat (meant for people) and walking up and down the length of the booth along the wall. When I went up to the staff to discuss with them that this is a health code violation, I was told that they asked if it was a "service dog" and when the customer said yes, there was "nothing [they] could do." The law is that only disability service dogs can be inside the establishment because they are trained service dogs. There is no way that this dog was a trained service dog as it was up on the booth seat walking where humans are supposed to be sitting and dining. There was zero management of the situation and zero attempt to even discuss with the very rude people. We love dogs, but this is gross. I emailed corporate and heard nothing back. Submitted a complaint with the County Health Department.

🍜 Food: The burgers were too greasy, they have no tomatos, and we're simply not special. 👩‍💼Service: The service was unpleasant bro vibe. 🏠 Atmosphere: It's like any burger joint. My wait for my food was half an hour. 💸 Price: Paid $16 for a burger and fries

Extremely rude service that appeared to be excited at the opportunity to say no to just about anything. Didn't charge us but missed our order of fries that we did not realize until we unpacked the bag at home. Burger was decent but will get much better service and order accuracy at In and Out with just as good of a burger.

They charged us two dollars for one side ranch dressing that was half empty. The burger was decent. The fries were awful. They fry them in very old oil. You can tell by flavor.

Beware! High crimes against potatoes! I kept hearing about how amazing HiHo was in particular how amazing their "Ashton" French fries are. I'm a vegetarian so I can only rate the veggie burger, and it was quite decent. So this is really a review of their fries... And they are shocking. So...the "French fries". They're really potato travesties. If you were the first Belgian, encountering a potato, and you thought "let's cut it up and fry it" (only you'd say faison frire ça! Or something like that because you were Belgian...) you could be excused for creating burnt, greasy, floppy masses. You didn't have the mens rea to be convicted of massacring potatoes by the pound. It was a first guess. Good for you for trying, random Belgian in 1700s! The world moved on and with it probably millions of person-hours and food science have been pored over perfecting the French fry. Starting with rinsing off the excess starch so it doesn't have that unpleasant burnt taste. Double or even triple frying them. Maybe adding a freezing step to help break down the potato cells, and possibly even a preboil step depending on technique to technique and potato thickness. Then there's controlling your fry temperatures to ensure a light golden crispy crust that won't flop and won't leave the fry a greasy sponge. You know what isn't okay in 2024? Just cutting up a potato, dunking it in some approximately hot oil like the very first try, calling it a day, and charging *5* dollars for them. Ashton, what have you done? How dare you?! I demand justice for the butchered spuds!!! Where's our useless DA when you need him???

Wow! Grass Fed Burgers, right? YES! We finally found a place to eat grass fed Burgers but the service was horrendous. I can say they carry good quality meat, fries are mediocre, the sauce they charge $1.75 for was NOT GOOD. Literally tiny cup of sauce for almost $2. So, we tried ordering a cheeseburger with an extra slice of cheese, they denied us. UGH WHAT?! The employee said it’s because the owners want you to get the full experience of their menu. UGH? OK! FINE. Let’s go with that. So we get regular cheeseburgers with a single slice of cheese, we asked the employee to make it plain, and so he subtracted the ketchup. Got confirmation, was told it would be MEAT AND CHEESE. Ok cool! So we get the “cheeseburgers” and absolutely no cheese on the burgers just ketchup. So I go back in and the employee says, OH I SUBTRACTED THE CHEESE INSTEAD OF THE KETCHUP, MY BAD. OK FINE, you confirmed the order, and fine you made a mistake after confirming the order. SO HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO SUBTRACT CHEESE BUT NOT ADD CHEESE!? HOW ABOUT THE OWNER’S CONCERN ABOUT FULL EXPERIENCE? DIDN’T MAKE SENSE. WAS THIS DISCRIMINATION? NOT SURE, BUT SURE SEEMED THAT WAY! DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE, there’s a reason their ratings are low on both google and yelp. Should have been more cautious. The outdoor ambiance was neat, it had nothing to do with their establishment. Finally, they fail to tell you if you eat outside they put everything in boxes and bag it up. When you dine inside you get plates and stainless steel utensils. YEAH! NOT COOL!

Fries were awful, oily and burned. The burgers were tiny and soggy. My shake came in a sippy cup. Huge rip off, nothing tasted good. Not coming back ever.

Avoid this place! My kids got a cheeseburger and fries and ended up getting *severe food poisoning* for days afterwards. Horrible, burnt, stale, smelly fries, and patty that looked like it had been frozen for ages and then thawed.

$5 for fries (see photo), had to keep spitting bits of bone out of my mouth from the burger. It’s not what it used to be.

Probably the worst burger and fries I ever had, and the chicken sandwich was horrible. Everything was super oily and cold

I don’t understand WHAT this dude’s problem is. There was this bald-headed black man w/ a beard. Idk if he was having a bad day or if some body mistreated him JUST before I had arrived but, just a few days ago, I went in b/c a friend recommended me Hiho’s burgers. I was so excited to eat there but, I never did. Why? Well, I walk in & I see the gentleman (the black bearded bald man) & I say, “Hiho! How are you?!” (Thinking he’d appreciate that) Instead, he just had a serious face & goes, “Are you picking up??” As a customer, I felt SO DUMB for even bothering to waste a silly joke on him, tho’ I figured my intent was to brighten up the day for the both of us. I replied, “Uh, no, I said How are you doing?” His response was to repeat his question again, “Are you picking up??” I literally lost my appetite, due to TERRIBLE LACKING OF CUSTOMER SVC & piss poor attitude. I just drove right back home & made myself a Maruchan ramen. I know that we’re in an age where our cities are more & more populated, ppl are ordering a lot more food (togo/for here), maybe, as a result, there’s higher demand in SPEED over customer svc (like a simple greeting or simple gesture of acknowledgement to show the guests that they are HAPPY to see you & for YOU (us customers) to be here… but, this guy, I sensed some intentional arrogance & mal-intent, which is OPTIMALLY-utterly unfortunate. For almost a year, I’ve been desperately seeking a job, which, recently-thankfully, I’ve been hired. I truly hope this guy learns to appreciate his job & imo deserves some much needed discipline. Thank you. 1 day, I’d still love to go eat there.

The Hiho Cheeseburger brand has become a ghost kitchen for delivery apps. The new business model only values “take out” orders. Because take out orders requires zero customer service and practically eliminates costumer interaction. Then it strengthens their cash grab as there is no form of customer service to have anything fixed or any form of accommodations made. The once customer centric fast casual brand is dead. Customer service left the building with the previously offered silverware and dishes and was long gone when the fountain drink machines were packed up. Rather then rising to occasion and working to overcome the hiring and staffing issues they just make more standardized operating procedures and hired whoever they could find. Now this place is operating solely by drones that don’t care about anything. The consistency is on their terms. The first order of fries 🍟 I ordered had no salt 🧂 based only on the usual level of salt. I ordered and paid for more friends and politely asked for extra salt 🧂 Drones the told me they can’t add any extra salt. Despite the salt in the cheap Sysco foods packets being different salt they made to clear even after they put my fries on the serving tray they couldn’t add any extra salt. How petty. They want $24 for burger and fries but don’t value customers enough to make a simple request for salt. I have played their game long enough to know they make ZERO food modifications aside from doing a lettuce wrap. But no salt. Shut the remaining restaurants down already and just go total ghost kitchen brand. Make everything to go and order via a window. I’m not returning or recommending it to any restaurant within the brand group. Absolutely garbage restaurant group. Looking forward to seeing these retail locations close 😎
