Stopped in for coffee & pastries after driving 2 hours of a 10 hour trip. Got out of car to stretch my legs. Somehow lost my wallet & began to trace my steps even checking the laundromat next door. Waited in line, with mask on, to inquire within. Got up to the counter, asked 1 of 4 people busily working behind the counter if they had seen my little black wallet? Nope. Crestfallen, I envisioned all the work I had ahead of me; canceling credit cards, obtaining a new license, etc. Ugh. Young man next to me, already paying for his coffee & bagel pipes up, "I just turned it in"! I get my wallet back (whew!) & want to at least pay for his coffee but see the barista handing him his change, so I gave him what I had in the wallet, a $20, telling him that good behavior needs to be recognized and rewarded. He was happy, I was happy & my coffee & blueberry muffin were spectacular! My unknown "angel" who drove off in his white Jeep made our long drive home go a lot faster. And once again, my hope & belief in the goodness of others was restored. Thank you for choosing to do the right thing! A wonderful miracle unfolded at the Bagel Train!
I've been here twice already and they have the best bagels. Whenever I'm in Suffern or going through there cycling I always stop here. It's always very busy here. I need to try their breakfast sandwiches. I'll do that the next time I'm there. The service is very great here I love it!
Best bagels around. I use them for all my training and dealer meetings. Everyone one of my customers say these are the best bagels they ever had. Just be prepared for a bit of a challenge parking when you go there
I love this place. It has been at this location for many years. The best bagels in this area. If you like fluffy bagels these are for you. They got many varieties of bagels, muffins, cookies.... Because the place is always busy the bagels are always fresh. They also can make it any way you want anything from cream cheese to eggs to salads. It is a small sized shop that has everything bagels. If you are in the area you need to try it.
The food is amazing here! Bagels are made fresh daily and the service and employees are very friendly. Price-wise, it is amazing. For coffee and a bagel it is not as much as you would expect (do not recall exact price). If you are looking towards going here, please allow yourself a TON of time. If you are going during morning hours, you may want to get there early since the shop itself is small and lines stretch out of the doors and loops around the building. Other than the long line, you will be very satisfied with this place.
BEST bagels! Bagel Train is one of the BEST bagel places around. It's a little hole in the wall, but the lines are out the door. The bagels are fresh, warm and just LOVELY. Even though the lines are long at times - they move very quick!
The best bagels I've ever had! Prices are very reasonable and the staff are super friendly.
Good bagels, friendly service, good price. They’re open early in the morning, which is also a huge plus
Amazing!!! Bagels are the perfect consistency. Crisp outside soft chewy inside. The sandwiches are delicious also. The people that work there are super friendly and welcoming, even when they have a line of people out the door. I have 5 bagel shops within 5 min of my house, but I drive the 20 min to come here if I want a bagel. I would drive 40 min there that good. I would recommend this place to anyone!!!
A long line meant delicious bagels and the wait was minimal. The bagels were the size of my hand and super fresh.
Some of the best bagels you will find, even better than most I have had in Brooklyn. The bagels age huge, have good flavor and excellent texture. The downside is the place is always packed with a line nearly out the door. They handle the crowds well though, with plenty of friendly and skilled employees, so the wait is never excessive.
This is our favorite local bagel shop. The store front is tiny. Expect a line out the door on the weekend. However the line is orderly and the customers are friendly. The line moves quickly as the staff is amazing. The bagels are the best around. They always give my little one a free mini bagel. If yiu is want a NY bagel these are the best. They are boiled before being baked. You can see this all as you wait for your order.
This is my favorite place on the planet to get a bagel. They are perfectly chewy on the inside and golden on the outside. They make fantastic breakfast and lunch sandwiches, too. They make, by far, the best bagel I've ever eaten. Be warned: you will wait in line. Often, the line is out the door. It's totally worth the wait. The line moves pretty quickly and you won't get better food anywhere else. Just go. This place lives up to the hype and then some.
Best bagels around! Breakfast sandwiches are great too. Huge variety of drinks, snacks, and menu items. The friendly staff here is key, considering Bagel Express down the street is known for their horrendous reputation. Keep up the good work!!! Your customers appreciate it
Unbelievable. One of the best bagels around. I grew up in Bergen County NJ and will happily drive 30 minutes to Bagel Train. The staff is amazing. Truly feel a sense of community.
So I came from Michigan for the weekend and my friends that live here swear by bagels in jersey. Hands down the very best bagels I've ever tasted in my life. I thought I knew what a good bagel was, boy was I wrong. I ate 2 and a half immediately without notice.. This will be a stop everytime I go NJ.
Bagel Train was my goto bagel place while I lived in Hillburn. The lines are always way out of the door and along the side of the building, but this is only because their bagels are so good. They also make good coffee and their staff are very nice and helpful. 5/5 times they have been a part of the community for years!
Best bagels and breakfast sandwiches in the county. The service is pretty quick, but it's always busy, so this isn't the place to go if you're in a rush. It also isn't a place where you sit down to eat. Park on the street on the side or in the small lot. Every time I'm in the area, I go to Bagel Train for sandwiches and to pick up bagels.
Excellent bagels. Lots of choices too. This is my go to bagel place when I am working in Mahwah. There are plenty of people waiting in line. But I will say. The line moves fast. Cash or Card is fine here. This time I had a poppy seed bagel with scallion cream cheese and sliced tomato. 5 stars all the way. See you soon Bagel Train!
Best bagel place in the area. Parking is a hassle, but worth it. Bagels are made in house and are Always warm and fluffy with a nice crust.
Excellent Bagel/ vegetable and Salmo cream cheese! Delicious!
One of the best fresh bagels we’ve ever had.
Wow, best bagel shop not only in the area but probably in NJ/NY area. Huge bagels, delicious, BEC to die for. Tends to get little busy in the mornings, worth the wait. Which is by the way could be from 10 to 15 minutes.
Great bagels, great food, great service at fair prices. Take out only.
Definitely won't be disappointed!! Bacon egg and cheese on everything, may be the best sandwich I ever had!!!
Bagel Train hits the mark! Chewy bagel, smooth cream cheese, fresh lox! Just exactly what you expect from a New York Bagel! Perfection!
Best bagels around. They are huge, fresh, and warm. Sandwiches are a good size. The service is fast, friendly and helpful. Used to live locally now, we hit it after every family visit to pick up a dozen and sandwiches for the ride home.
Hands down it's the Best Bagel Shop in Suffern. I really love this place so much. I hope one day to buy and privatize this business so I can exclude an individual (that I have a personal vendetta with) from ever patronizing bagel train again.
Great bagels, better than the highly rated Brooklyn bagel co. The bagels have some girth and a nice crust. Everything bagel was superb with the perfect sized salt flakes. Highly recommend this bagel shop if you’re in the area, I went two days in a row and bagels were consistently great.
Come here all the time for breakfast between classes. Very friendly staff, quick wait times and very reasonable pricing
Freshly made bagels are the best
Always crowded, but their bagels are worth the wait Get there early so you'll have a greater variety to choose from. I'm gluten free so I've not actually eaten their bagels, but the people I buy them for always rave about them (a gluten free offering, such as an individually packaged Udi's gf bagel would for fantastic. Just sayin')
Great bagel shop. Very busy on weekend mornings but you get in and out quick.
Excellent bagels. From someone that knows bagels, this is the absolute real deal. You will not be disappointed.
Consistent everytime! They are fast and bagels are always crispy and top notch. There is no need to go anywhere else to search for a perfect breakfast option! Hands down better then any nyc bagel option. Bacon egg and cheese is great crispy bacon good flat eggs and quality cheese. My favorite is the flat sesame bagel toasted with butter!
Always a line because they're delicious. Best bagels ever.
Excellent prices and food. The bagels here are the best around, they are consistently delicious and fresh. Can't go wrong with anything you get here and the prices are extremely reasonable.
Solid bagel place and one of my favorites. Fresh bagels and their bacon egg and cheese plain bagel is my go to. I usually go on Sundays and they tend to have a longgggg line, so make sure to call in your order before you go.
Bagel Train is pure chaos wrapped in fresh bagels and giant bacon egg and cheeses. Much like The Soup Nazi you have to know how it all works, but once you do it's glorious
Whenever I come back to the old neighborhood and had to stop in. Love their bagels and the sandwiches. It always looks like it will be a wait but they have this down to a science and have you on your way quickly.
I like a bagel with two eggs and just a little bit of cream cheese so it doesn’t get dry. It sounds like a simple order, but believe me, people go crazy over a request that “weird.” Today I ordered it at this place and I was honestly impressed. Unlike most places that put three tons of cream cheese and barely any egg, making it impossible to take a proper bite — this place did it exactly the way I asked, very balanced! The bagel is soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. I ordered the everything bagel and oh my God, it’s so good. I’ve just found my favorite bagel.
Simply put, this is the best bagel shop on the East coast. Hand-rolled bagels, flaggels, bagel sticks every flavor imaginable everything is fresh. The place is always packed and these bagels have the finest ingredients in them. Bagel train has been an institution for decades.
Love coming to this place, staff is very professional and friendly. Bagels are the best here and only spot I would come to in the area. Tuna salad is so fresh and one of my absolute favorites highly recommend.
I grow up in Suffern many years ago, it's too bad this place was open when I lived there. I have had bagel in many places to include NYC, Boston, Chicago and SF (which had an excellent bagel), It is the best bagel I've had in my nearly 63 years of life. Large, fresh, not chewy, airy and delicious. Every time I visit the area I go to Bagel Train, even if it means I have to go 20 minutes one way. The place has always been busy when I've been, but the wait is not too long. I highly recommend Bagel Train for their bagels.
Best bagels I’ve ever had. I moved far away from the area but we travel past every so often and it’s always an obvious detour. We get the incredible breakfast sandwiches and stock up our freezer with all the different flavored bagels. Their potato, egg, and other salads are great too. 10/10.
Tried their bagel with scallion cream cheese and it was excellent — super fresh, perfectly toasted, and the cream cheese had great flavor. You can tell they care about quality. Definitely coming back!
Sing this in the way to Bagel Train in the morning. To the tune of Quad City DJ's - C'Mon 'N Ride It (The Train)..."Come on ride the train, and ride it. Come on ride the train, it's a Bagel Train." Their bagels are chewy, fresh, flavorful, and giant. My order is an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese on both sides. ADD egg, sausage, and tomato. Great interesting flavors of coffee too. It's standing room only, no tables.
I travel all around NJ for work, so I've tried many bagel places. I've only been to one other bagel place that has shocked me with the quality and fluffiness of their bagels, and this one just made the Top 2. A great bagel is something you don't forget! This place makes their own bagels, and they're huge, fluffy, and have a slight crunch on the top outer most part of the bagel which surprised me because it's everything you want in a bagel. I had a pork roll egg and cheese on a plain bagel, and it was excellent! 👌 I have no complaints. A definite must try if you're traveling from out of state and want to see why they say NJ and NY make the best bagels in the country.
Returning the East Coast, I had to have a real bagel. I happened to be in Northern NJ and this place was located few miles from NY/Nj border. The place is very busy with a lot of locals visiting. The badges are good, a large side. I had a lox sandwich and it was great. Other bagels I took home were all good.
Let me tell you, Jersey bagels are the top of the top and Bagel Train definitely represents Jersey like no other! The bagels are always fresh and fluffy and the staff working there are super friendly!! It might look extremely busy but trust me they move their line incredibly well. If you are in the area, definitely check them out!
The Bagel Train experience, as I call it is definitely One of a Kind!!! I have been buying bagels and coffee here 25 years now and it’s a Family Tradition like no other to visit this glorious place at least once a while and get the heavenly foods there. I am not exaggerating but their bagels are the BEST you will ever have! Today my experience was even more amazing, as I ordered the famous bagel sticks, which they do not have every day and they are only available upon prior order. I waited an hour to pick up what I considerer the most satisfying food ever❤️ These super hot, straight from the oven god’s creations were beyond delicious and satisfying! I surprised my family with an amazing breakfast and again this one of a kind experience. I thank the owners of Bagel Train for never changing their recipes and for making thousands of people happy each month with their amazing foods. SIMPLY ICONIC SPOT.
Literally the best bagel place around. Always fresh. The actual shop is small and can get extremely crowded with long lines. But totally worth the wait. Staff is super friendly. 5/5 and highly recommend! (Whether it’s Taylor ham and cheese, scallion cream cheese, lox, etc… never a bad experience).
Bagel Train is by far THE BEST bagels in the state of NY. I moved out of NY but literally thd second I come back to visit I HAVE to go by there to get a bagel with cream cheese. It's that good! Due to covid, they now have rules in place to limit the number of people insidd..this is a huge difference from the norm because usually they are packed with people inside. This was okay because I must have come at the right time. The two times I stopped by it was only a short wait to get inside. They also have the perfect line up of chips and drinks. I always grab a bag of tipsy doodles because they dont sell them where I live now. Needless to say..they didnt disapoint..I got a plain bagel with cream cheese the first time, and a blueberry with cream cheese the second time. Both were amazing! I also got a half dozen to take home and freeze. I'd have done more if I werent watching the amount of bread I'm eating. I could literally eat one of those bagels everyday. I highly recommend this place... you wont be disappointed and will find yourself going back every chance you get like me.
The best bagels bar none, no remote comparison. Small family owned buissnes with helpful staff. Prepare for long lines out the door at peak hours. Most folks are ordering sandwiches which is time consuming. I'd like to see a "bagels only" line to get those folks out the door more efficiently.
Bagels are awesome. On par or better than any bagels you will find in the tristate area. They lose one star for service though. They have made mistakes on orders before and once they get busy it is disorganized and confusing inside. With a few logistical changes to manage the higher number of customers at peak times and if the employees were on point all the time, this place would hands down be the best bagel place in NY.
Service is usually turtle speed but this time the turtle beat the hare.
Bagels are always warm and fresh. Place is super popular so there is always a line. Some good cream cheese mixes, Plus all your favorite breakfast sandwiches.
A decent old-fashioned Bagel Bakery bagels are huge and a little Doughy, good when you eat them right away Not Good the next day
Bagels great took a little long but that's probably because they take their time to make the food good also it's fun to sing the song bagel train which is a parody of Ozzy Osbourne's crazy train when you're in the store they really appreciate it
Used to be the best bagel place in NJ and NY hands down. Still really good but something has changed over the past couple months. Drop off in consistency of quality in their bagels, some days are hit or miss. Noticed almost a completely new crew too so may have something to do with it. Still recommend this spot but would love to see them get things back on track. They should add red peppers to their veggie cream cheese too!
Delicious, but it takes forever to order. They are so busy, so be patient. DO NOT buy cold drinks here, they are extremely overpriced. A bagel with cream cheese and a cold drink was just under $10. That's crazy!
As native New Yorker these bagels are the real deal. Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. Good choice of spreads. Argo e gets a three star since they forgot to pack my $10 bagel and lox and charged me for it.
The bagels are ok, but everything seemed to be a bit too done. I like my bagels toasted if they aren't directly from the oven and still hot, the outside wasn't too dark but toasting it made it super crunchy - and not like what you'd typically expect from toasting a bagel. The bacon was almost burnt and a bit too salty, and the hash browns were almost burnt as well. The cinnamon twist was good as is, but I think it would be even better if it was warm. It also weighed a ton, so it's a very substantial pastry. I enjoyed watching them boil, season, and then bake the bagels right behind the counter! They were filling up the bins straight from the oven and if they hadn't been so busy I would have gotten back in line to try a fresh, warm bagel. I'll definitely go back and give it another try because I've heard great things about their bagels.
Food was good but the guy who took our order had an attitude
Used to live in Suffern and the bagels are always soft and delicious but I moved and when I came to visit, I drove an hour away just to get a totally burnt bagel! Didn't notice until I drove all the way back home so I couldn't return it. I guess it's a hit or miss.
The bagels are consistently the best around. You can’t go wrong choosing Bagel Train, but recently I picked up multiple bagels to bring to share and decided to also purchase their butter and cream cheese. When I bought the cream cheese, it looked normal on the outside, but when I got to work and opened it, it was moldy.
I’ve been coming here since a kid and the bagels have always been the best in the county. I’m a vegetarian and unfortunately I’m always finding bacon bits in my order probably because they aren’t cleaning the stove from the last order. One time I even tasted syrup on my bagel so if you are allergic to anything, I suggest avoiding anything that goes on the stove. Even with just a bagel with cream cheese I tend to find other toppings inside of my bagel. I’ve thrown out three bagels so far from finding bacon and burnt bacon inside of my bagel, I don’t want to have to inspect the bagel before leaving each time, I’d rather just know that I’m getting a fresh bagel without any random food/condiments inside. I know you guys are busy because the bagels are delicious but please be aware that people have allergies and are on a diet where they can’t have certain things and even a tiny bit of bacon or anything else could trigger something bad. Otherwise I’d give 5 stars!
Dudes, unless you're drinking the Kool aid, this place is a 2 start at best. It's food but the portions suck, eggs are over cooked, I got a Taylor egg and cheese, that only had Bacon and Taylor ham with egg on it, with no cheese. My girl got a lox and cream cheese, but there was only cream cheese on half and like 4 pieces of onion. Not sure if there's an onion shortage or not but over all this place sucked. Staff was nice. Food is awful.
The bagels are great of course. Ive gone a bunch of times and the food is always great…. Thats if you can handle the wait times and the HORRID management. The ladies behind the counter are always joking around and laughing with eachother while half of suffern is crammed in there with no rhyme or reason to any type of management plan. You can ‘call’ ahead but you’ll still have to wait in line. Might be the worst managed bagel place in rockland… just sucks because their bagels are really great! A new location, manager and staff, and this place would be the best spot in the entire northeast!
Great bagels, yes. But terrible grill breakfast - the oil/grease they use tastes old to me, though I've tried it on multiple days. Bacon egg cheese is overfried, rubbery, and crispy in the bad oil. other people really seem to love this place but all i can taste and smell is the grease.
It is always so packed, and though the workers are nice, and they give big portion sizes, however, they write down everything you say; but, when it comes time to eat, the order is always incorrect. Never made how you tell them, and It is expensive! It's so packed there's no point in going back to have it corrected. Won't be wasting my time here again.
Mixed up bagel order. More bread than eggs and meat. Made Very sloppy. are unwilling to provide sides or beef or chicken without paying for a full sandwich. This place needs to update its menu and oversee its presentation better. Guy who seemed to be in charge, should focus more on the customers when it’s busy than stocking up. Skip it.
Absolutely disgrace of a place it took me 15 min with 1 person in front of me to 2 bagels. Next I told them 2 bagels with cream cheese which they can’t get right and they put butter after I corrected them they put cream cheese over the later of butter instead of discarding of the bagels. You also had multiple workers touching the bagels with there bare hands. Worst part of all that is it cost me 8 dollars for 2 bagels and a drink why so expensive. Will be taking my business elsewhere.
Ordered two turkey bacon egg and cheese bagels, ended up getting a taylor ham egg and chz on a roll and a regular pork bacon egg and chz. Had to throw the order away because i don’t eat pork.
I had to change my ratings because of today. My family and i ordered food and gave them over an hour because we know how busy they get. We had the person repeat our order to make sure everything was there. When we arrived they had 2 orders missing. The person that took our order over the phone basically didn't care and wanted us to get the milk to make the oatmeal and we didnt even bother.. that showed she didn't care for customer service.
This place definitely believes in quantity over quality because its just been decaying every the year bad business plan. Oh and please get better management the workers act like grumpy cockroaches when you turn the lights on when the place is crowded. If you could fire the rude Caucasian man in the afternoon that'd be great he doesn't have to bring his sass to work this isn't a sephora it's a bagel store if he's unhappy tell him Walmart wants his skillset.
This place is really good , but one time i placed an order over the phone for a TURKEY BACON EGG AND CHEESE & when i got to work i noticed it was PORK BACON, when i called they said sorry we did use pork , but this something u should know not to make a mistake about especially since i don’t eat pork , they did end up remaking me the sandwich and i picked up … but that’s my only complaints .. im very skeptical in ordering from here again due to this … but other than that great place
Used to be the best bagel place but now they are just disappointing. I always ask for my bacon well done,,, burn it even, yet the past few years every time I go my bacon is barely even cooked. It’s fatty and gross. Not to mention you ask for extra cheese or bacon and you get neither. They don’t even put any salt or pepper on the bagel anymore… just sad smh. I bring the stuff back to return it cause it’s not what I ask for and even when I get the new bagel it’s still equally as disappointing
Not sure what’s happened here but the bagels use to be the best in the area last three times we went it’s gone downhill we went three times thinking we got them on bad days but today same thing bagels hard and chewy and the everything bagel toppings were burnt
I will never go there again. First parking is a problem. Second the girls behind the counter are unfriendly and rude. Third, the place is too small- people waiting for their orders- me no like!I didn’t know there was a $5 minimum for cc- when she gave me my bagel she informed me- the owner was standing there & said it was ok I could pay w/cc without the $5. She gave me a very dirty look, grabbed my cc out of my hand and took it out on me- too bad. BAGEL EXPRESS just up the road is so much nicer, cleaner, and better bagels!
Been here multiple times. This one particular morning, one of the Hispanic workers (she was a female) was in a foul mood and rolling her eyes at me for ordering a dozen bagels but ordering one of each bagel. She was blatantly rude. I asked her a simple question in which she could not answer. I gave up on it and didn't want to reciprocate her energy because i don't have time for that. I just left and told myself that I would never do business with that kind of attitude. Bagels are good but customer service left a bad taste in my mouth. I will go to Bagel boys down the street from now on.
I came in at 1:30pm only 2 costumers and myself i was standing there for a good 10 min and none of the employees took my order they had the audacity to skip me and take the next costumer I used to like this place bc it’s close to home but I’m definitely never coming back here what a waist of deli I hope they get better employees.
Disgusting service. A member of staff ripped the card out of my hand when I couldn’t hear what she was saying. I can’t even comprehend the level of rudeness those working there have.
Worst expérience. Customer service is horrible, she spoke to me as if I were her dog because I didn't understand what she was saying. Then I found a DISGUSTING clump of hair in my bagel. In front of all the other customers, she said it's "Normal." I pay $4 for a bagel to have a clump of hair in it. I do not recommend it.
I really liked this place and then had a bad experience with a rude almost cruel staff member. Great bagels, but the people who work there are very mean. I was even thinking of ordering food from here for my daughter’s birthday party. Probably won’t return just due to the cruelty I just encountered. Update: just checked and my order was wrong as well
i ordered a toasted everything bagel turkey bacon egg and cheese, eggs scrambled soft. it wasnt toasted, the egg was grossly over cooked, and there was no cheese at all. worst of all and what made me write a review at all was that i found a piece of pork bacon in my sandwich. I do not eat any pork for personal/ethical reasons and the taste of it makes me sick. this was honestly it for me and I will not be returning. hope y’all have better luck than i did
Went a couple weeks ago stood by the counter and was ignored, one of the workers allowed another customer behind me to take their order. I ended up paying $18 for a Taylor ham egg and cheese on a bagel with a vitamin water !!! Went today , same thing. Stood by the counter waiting for my order to get taken was ignored. Lady talked to someone behind me , he walked up and took his order instead of mine when I’ve been standing there for 3 min. After that I walked right out. Really not trying to bring race into this but both times the guys were Hispanic and im a white female and the workers are Hispanic. It’s like none of them cared to even take my order when I’m literally up against the counter waiting. Rather spend my money else where that is actually deserved.
I have held my tongue for far too long but this is where it crosses the line. This is my 3rd time visiting in 3 months. I used to visit every week. People are NOT happy working there. I order smoked salmon and get charged premium price for 2 slices? This place used to be extremely special. I have reached out multiple times to the bagel train email and who ever to talk to someone but I never have been reached out to. Officially done eating here unless someone there can truly change my mind. There is no employee engagement, it feels dreary and the service is subpar now. No one cares and I can see it with how they all act like it is the customer bothering them. You hate to see it. here is my $13 breakfast bagel with lox
