Don’t even know where to start. The staff is sweet as can be. Sonja was our waitress and was personality plus, perfect service, and the best smile. We had the Badass Bloody Mary(it was true to its name and very badass) the lazy cheese curds and tomatoes bisque (mix the two together and it’s pure heaven) the Gouda Burger and the fries were very GOODA :) 😋 James the Owner surprised us with a homemade custard ( my very first custard) I didn’t think to take a picture until we had already taken our first bite. Talk about the best dessert ever and I don’t do dessert.🤣 If you are near, or passing through Sulphur Springs do yourself a favor and make this a must stop!
Slow Tuesday night but service was excellent! Waitress was knowledgeable of menu choices. Several drink specials. Good beer and wine selections. The filet was perfectly cooked! Cowboy bruschetta was delicious.
The fried chicken sandwich was Southern diner worthy. A complimentary eclair from the gracious owner was amazing! The owner always is warm and welcoming and stops by the table to chat and check on the food and service. The location in downtown Sulphur Springs is perfect for people watching.
This place is amazing!!!!! It’s a cute, little place that is so well decorated almost like you’re in Boston by the bay. The owner comes around often welcoming and checking on everyone. The staff is so friendly and kind. My partner and I visited this place twice and the second time had a waitress named Sandra. It was my partners birthday (she hates being sang to) and Sandra got down low and sang it softly to her. She was just so nice. Super great lady. The food was so freaking good. I had the breakfast tacos with chorizo the first time and this burger and fries the next. Both times I had a Lonestar coffee. So yummy!! They also leave you a glass carafe filled with water on your table. They also have delicious, homemade treats located at the front of the store. It’s just a wonderful place and I’m so happy it’s close to me!
Sonja is awesome! She is so friendly and remembers us every time we come in to the restaurant. The other staff is great as well. We always get our special table and she knows exactly what we want to start our order off. We had the waffle chicken kabobs today and they were fantastic.
We googled who served chicken fried steak in sulphur springs and Haystacks was one choice. We are so glad we gave them a shot. The food was excellent. My husband ordered some of the best CFS and mashed potatoes he had ever eaten. The onion rings rings were the best I've ever had. They were not tough at all. I had the loaded baked potato with pulled pork BBQ. We ended our meal with the Key Lime icebox pie. Wow! It was so good! Our waitress was Aspen. She was absolutely wonderful. Very attentive, soft spoken and kind. She added so much to our pleasant experience. Thank you, Aspen.
We stopped in for some breakfast food but what we got was an experience and warmth ALONG with amazing food. All the staff were kind but Sonja really took care of us. We enjoyed the ambience and every bite/sip. You won’t be disappointed if you choose to go to Haystacks. Thank you for such a healing gift for two wandering out of town-ers. Be blessed!
Absolutely phenomenal meal tonight! The sea bass was tender, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to flaky perfection. The Brussels sprouts were beautifully roasted with just the right amount of crisp, and the glazed carrots were subtly sweet and buttery without being overpowering. Truly a delicious, well-balanced plate from start to finish. Shoutout to our server, Laura — warm, attentive, and made the entire experience even better. Highly recommend!
We had a table of three and were greeted and seated promptly. Our server Laura had amazing recommendations and was patient with our questions. Our appetizer of Texas Lilly pads were crisp and bright. They tasted so fresh. We ordered three different brunch dishes and each was delicious!!! Thank you Laura for the wonderful experience. We are definitely coming. Back soon!
Haystacks is a weekly visit for us, the service, food, atmosphere is ALWAYS Great, today we came later in the day so we were able to check out the lunch menu, Laura was absolutely amazing in taking care of us and even asked what if anything they could do to make something Taste better, I thought that was awesome that they listen that closely to customer reviews. 1000% a place that NEVER disappoints.
Rhaenyra and I had a lovely afternoon at this restaurant . This place is very dog friendly. They allowed Rhae to come inside the restaurant and if your dog is a little rambunctious they also have an outdoor serving area. They brought Rhae several strips of bacon and hamburger patty and a bowl of water 🥹❤️. Any place that lets me bring my baby girl will definitely have me as frequent customer. I adore places like this. Highly recommend this place. 🥓🥪🍰🐩❤️
Had lunch with a group of friends. We were a lively bunch but were fortunate to have a wonderful waitress, Sonja, who was up to the assignment! The food was delicious -I had a hamburger that was very good, along with a cafe mocha and followed by a generous slice of carrot cake. Lots of leftovers to enjoy later. The owner and manager were also very friendly and gracious. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere and the bathrooms were clean, always a good sign. I highly recommend both the restaurant and our attentive and knowledgeable waitress.
Family and I drove through SS to stop by heard such great things all of the staff is out of this world kind . Our waitress was like a grandma to the kids mqkeing sure everyone was cared for.Everything was amazing! .cant say enough good things the manager and owner even came and said hello .took care of our dog gave him food and water on the house!.
I went here with my family for a birthday, and was blown away by the service! Sonja made sure we were well taken care of, and the kitchen has timing down to a T. Once we were done with our beignets, the appetizer came out. Once the appetizer was gone, the food arrived. And HOLY COW the Hannibal is MASSIVE! Definitely coming back here!
This review is long overdue. My wife and I have been coming to Haystacks since our newlywed days — it’s been our go-to brunch spot for years, and now our daughter absolutely loves it too. We’ve seen the menu change and grow, but one thing has stayed the same: I’ve never had a single meal here that disappointed me. That kind of consistency is rare, and it deserves to be recognized. At this point, I’ve probably tried everything on the menu. Their move into bistro-style sandwiches was a great call — The Landman is a personal favorite with the perfect balance of pickled onions, raspberry aioli, and just a little powdered sugar to finish it off. I always order it with their onion rings — which are hands-down the best I’ve had anywhere. The fish and chips are another solid choice. The batter is light and crisp, served with tartar sauce and vinegar aioli — perfect for my wife and me since we each have our favorite. And yes, we always get those onion rings again. When we have friends or family in town, Haystacks is an easy choice for dinner. The lamb chops are always spot on. I normally like lamb a little more on the rare side, but this dish is so good I’ve never had to ask for any changes. The brussels sprouts they serve with it are also next level — definitely not an afterthought. Bottom line — Haystacks has become a staple for us, whether it’s a casual brunch or a special dinner with good company. Great food, consistent quality, and a place that always feels welcoming. If you haven’t been in a while, it’s worth going back.
We stopped here on our way through from Fort Worth to Atlanta State Park! The streets were narrow for pulling a camper through but we parked a few blocks away to go to this dog friendly restaurant! Sonja our waitress was amazing and so friendly! The food was great! It was an amazing stop. The chef came over and talked to us as well! We will definitely be back in June!
This place was incredible. My girlfriend brought me here last Saturday for the most amazing experience here and to get my fix on Chicken and Waffles. She claimed that theirs was the best. However, I'm not one to boast too often but when it's an experience like this, I have to share it. We first walked in, we were at the host stand when a gentleman (James - Aka owner) who was a pleasure to talk to. We were seated and instantly greated by Shannon (apologize if not spelled right) who was such a pleasure to talk to the entire meal. She helped us select a tasty memosa flight and had us try a Apple Momosa and it was probably our favorite one but they were all sooo tasty. We shared the Chicken & Waffles and something called a quiche which came with some tasty fried potatoes and some kind of spinach strawberry salad which was also tasty. There wasn't one bite that tasted off. We also got to try their raspberry parfait that I personally destroyed. The food was amazing but the atmosphere thats created and the hospitality thats presented was by far one of the greatest experiences. James later stopped by the table to bring us a sample of his Lemon Custard he had made that morning, that too was amazing but listening to his passion about food and the items he wants to create, that alone makes me want to come back and try everything he makes. Shannon was so on point and such a pleasure to talk too. This place deserves more than 5 stars in my opinion. I've not had such a perfect experience like this in forever. If you're in Sulphur Springs, stop here. Meet with James and the staff, try all the food, especially the Chicken & Waffles as they were definitely one of my top 5 spots. Thank you all for setting the tone to what ended up being the perfect date day with my lady.
I should try the burgers on my next visit...heard they are great. I liked the fish and chips, tortillas chips with cheese, the Key Lime Pie, sweet tea and cappuccino. Great service. Located in downtown Sulphur Springs. Limited parking...you may need to park a little further away but it's a nice stroll.
Great location and service. Food was super fast from order to arrival. Had the hamburger and ribeye steak special. The hamburger was good and was able to substitute salad without extra charge. The ribeye was ok, pan fried and not sure we would order one here next time. Lots of other great choices. Overall great stop, good service and very reasonable prices.
The restaurant is clean with cute decorations. We had the hamburger steak and the chicken fried chicken. We felt that both were under seasoned. The hamburger steak was saved a bit by flavorful peppers and onions. The fries were good though. I also enjoyed my lime water and my guest enjoyed her salad. The downside for us was being the only table in the restaurant and having to wait so long for our waitress to check allergens and take our order. She did seem to try and make it up later with multiple refills of our drinks. This restaurant is also fairly expensive.
