I come for dinner quite often, but I tried the lunch special for the first time and was so impressed!! A decently sized bowl of udon, 5 big pieces of sushi, a whole california roll, and a small salad for only $19??? I ate like a king and couldn’t even finish all the sushi. The staff was super attentive as always and accommodated my dietary needs. Incredible!
Celebrated my brother's birthday here a couple days ago. It's always a pleasant experience and the food is very delicious. Service is superb and respectful especially the elder gentleman with the glasses. What I ordered was the Dynamite Roll and the Spicy Chicken Teriyaki and Edamame on the side, yes...I had an appetite.
This was such a nice visit. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. We were given green tea to start, and then we ordered some starters afterward. We finished with our dinner plates. We ordered Chicken Katsu, Fry Fish, and Katsu Curry Chicken. Everything was amazing, and we will definitely be back!
Walked home from the gym and I saw the poster outside they have curry rice chicken/pork katsu. I went in and got accommodated right away by a super nice staff (short hair). it truly didn’t disappoint me. I had a really nice meal and I will be surely coming back. A must try in Sunnyside!
We orderer Pork dumplings and sushi our option was Crispy shrimp , California, Philadelphia , Dragon and Sunnyside .. The sushi looked good and tasted good. our favorite was the dragon option. The dumplins were pork and were good in flavor and size. We also ordered a small miso flavored soup that was also delicious. For dessert I recommend march mochi with ice cream. We had good service and the atmosphere was friendly.
Good vibes, food and service. My husband and I had a nice time
I would give them 20 stars if I could. I wasn't even hungry when I wandered into this place, I just wanted something small and simple before I call it a day. I ended up finishing all these and I left with an extra order of takeout in my hand. This is how good this place is. Authentic menu, super nice and friendly staff. Utterly amazing experience.
I love this place.. for dinner size is very big I packed home for next meal.
2022 Went back after 3 years and still enjoyed their food. Salmon onigiri was really good as well as the veggie fried tempura. 2019 Good japanese restaurant. Even tho i don’t eat sushi, i appreciate the way it’s been served. Potato croquettes, gyoza and miso soup were very good and tasty.
I have been coming to this restaurant for 20 years now. Wow. Food is still good, staffs are always friendly and helpful, salad dressing and desert ice cream is still awesome! It’s very difficult to operate a restaurant with consistency and this one definitely got the secret sauce! My favorite Nabeyaki Udon and chicken and udon combo with ice cream!!!
The food was 10/10 made me sleepy it was really good. The server was really nice and made sure we had everything + enjoyed our meals. The atmosphere is really nice as the seating makes you feel like you have privacy. 100% coming back when I have money.

Food: The quality of the food was good but could been better. Service: Our server was very sweet who kept checking us to see how we were doing. Overall, it was a cozy environment, food was good and the service was great. Dragon roll was so goood 😋
The staff here are always so polite and very kind and accommodating, which I appreciate first and foremost. I would say the atmosphere is friendly as well. The food here is decently good, but I need to try a few more dishes. In the image I shared, I asked for a dish that they don't have yakisoba with chicken, which was cool that they accepted my request for a custom dish! Admittedly, it wasn't the best tasting, but I put that more on me than them. Overall, it was a good experience and I would definitely go back :)
Overall, Ariyoshi is a restaurant where you can find friendly staff and average food. Servings are a lot, so if you're in Sunnyside looking to have some quick Japanese food, you can drop by here and eat, have some Sake too.
The services were absolutely wonderful and the quality of the food was amazing for the price.

I had a great experience at this Japanese restaurant. The food was delicious and fresh, especially the chicken liver, takowasa, fried calamari and sashimi Merkel. The portions were **mid-sized** and the price was reasonable. The service was friendly and attentive. Nice atmosphere and nice selection of cold sake.
Clean looking place and great service. I ordered Gyoza and Chicken Katsu. If you've had authentic Katsu before, you'll be disappointed. Mine was burnt and served with a side of BBQ sauce..... What?! The rice was the best part. The breaded part was weird. Miso soup was good though. If I come back, I won't order anything Katsu.
The soup and salad are decent; main dish portions are not Manhattan robust. Tuna Sashimi is fantastic. Anything with eel is virtually non existent in content. The table water's chlorine content was damn close to pool water. Go with bottled water. Not bad for Queens. They have more than just Sushi so this great if you're with other who want something cooked.

Our waiter was rude when I asked if the roll included in a combination was a spicy tuna roll. Said “I said tuna, if it’s spicy tuna I’ll say spicy tuna”. Didn’t order the combo. I order a special dragon roll $13.95 and a spider roll $7. There is NO FISH in multiple parts of the roll sent it back and it was the same.

Been coming here since 1984!!! when the place was a hole in the wall a block over. I’m pretty impressed that with several ownership turnovers that signature dishes and sauces are still like the originals. What I would complain about is that their menu is ridiculously large now. When any restaurant menu has such a mixed up huge selection, something is sacrificed. Here as I see other users say, it’s the little things. Like the tiny tastes of pickles that used to be included with most main dinners and also the quality. It’s gone downhill but still remains good - when it used to be WONDERFUL. As someone who worked in many restaurants including some four star hotels, DO WHAT YOU DO BEST. It’s either a Japanese or a Korean restaurant. Pick one and stick to doing that the best as possible. Now it’s impossible to rely on their fish. Clearly they go for volume now. This is where they should stop. When seated, you get their version of an encyclopedic menu. Hundreds of items. I think this is where I see complaints coming from on here. People expect the oddly ordered dish to be as good as something a cook can make with their eyes closed. I’m a chef and have worked in restaurants and hotels and I get tying to make as many people happy to keep your place going - but this didn’t need to get to the worlds largest menu. Those true to your business will always come back. When they had a one piece flat (with cute illustrations) menu and a sushi list - the food was at its peak. Now since there’re multiple Korean places selling Japanese dishes this gets muddied. Do what you do best is still my motto when it comes to good food but as I see, too many people want volume over quality. This is what you get. Menus this large are just asking for ordering mistakes. When the place was more tightly run, they knew their customers well and they used to give tiny little “gifts” at the holidays from the owners and had some extra specials too. When in the original spot Thursdays was girls night and we always went here - so much so that we used to get saki buy-backs! But then had to hold on tight getting down the death staircase! Many wonderful nights. Had my bridal shower here and a party for my in-laws too. I would really like to see them not give in to these mishmash places and go back to a reasonable amount of offerings that they can focus their quality on. People who really love true Japanese food would appreciate it. In writing this, I just asked myself why we aren’t going here as much as we used to and it’s because of this slip for menu volume over mastery of signature dishes. I think Ariyoshi went mundane in trying to meet everyone’s wishes. Even the little personal touches they used to add to the place are gone now. Like tonight - how are you out of Beef Negimaki??? This has been a menu staple for years but now since there are 250 options, it’s unavailable. They cannot keep a stock of food on hand at all times for the amount of dishes they offer. Sadly we won’t be bringing anymore parties here. Was our go to family place but what they used to have in quality is gone. It would be five stars from me if they would whittle down and focus. In response to the owner - I called to ask again - why is beef negimaki and teriyaki off the menu and I get that beef is expensive but aren’t all the fish ingredients? My husband has had it. I think they lost our family permanently because we stuck with them for WEEKLY takeout through all 2008, Covid etc. We knew Yuji Hota, the waiter that was there for years but now this just makes us sad. Their only beef option IS TOUNGE hardly going to please a guest who isn’t familiar with Japanese food. Which is why I am saying make better decisions than this one. You have to have a beef meal. People will pay for it. At least beef teriyaki.
