Best Chicken Teriyaki ever! My family has been eating here for over fifteen years for a reason.
The food is fanominal and they give good portion sizes. The staff are super sweet. One of my favorite sushi spots.
Easy to order online for take out. Friendly staff. Order was ready upon arrival -- zero wait. Wakame appetizer and Salmon and tuna sashimi were delicious. Salmon and chicken teriyaki cooked perfectly. The Giants, Hanamaru, and Tokyo Rolls were excellent. Thank you to the entire crew at Hanamaru!
Great place for sushi and everything in between. Lots of selections, and for those thay don't like fish there are cooked chicken dishes as well. 100% recommend.
I've been eating there for around 6 years now and it's one of the best sushi places I've ever been (with the best value for money). Big servings and friendly staff 😊 They have dine-in and delivery! 💙
I once went here around Christmas time a few years ago and the employees were all so nice. One of the kids eating with us was struggling with her chopsticks so our waitress made a pair of trainer chopsticks for her with rubber bands and the paper chopstick wrapper. Then the sushi chef saw me scraping sauce off my plate (it was that good) so he gave me a little bowl of extra sauce. They were all so attentive and kind, it really made the evening special for us. I have since moved out of state but I come home every Christmas and try to eat here when I get the chance. Great food, excellent service.
We love your sushi! Thank you so much for a years of a tasty dinners!
The teriyaki chicken was a big portion and I ate so much I had a stomach ache for the rest of the night and the next day. I also had the Tokyo roll which was small for the price but was excellent in taste. The Arnold Palmer was sour to me but my partner liked it a lot. Overall, I wonder why I hadn't gone earlier.
Great ambiance, the stuff is so welcoming and the food is amazing!!
Great food and service. Their sashimi and sushi 🍣 are fresh and delicious. I like their teriyaki main course so good the sauce so yummy. Will be back soon.
Food, Delicious Atmosphere, lovely Service, unremarkable
This great place is unjustfully underrated. It used to work for takeouts only, but now it is a regulary working restaurant. And it is open the whole day!! Salmon kama shioyaki was soooo good! Great, well made sushi, generous portions, freebees.... I love the place and recomend it to everyone.
The sushi and sashimi is always fresh. The owner and staff are fantastic people always courteous and friendly.
We really like this sushi place! Very good food and nice atmosphere, very friendly and attentive service.
Got the spicy chicken, and it was excellent. Hot, tender, juicy and medium spicy. More than enough for a lunch. Rice was fresh. Miso soup was delicious and contained tofu and seaweed. Makes for an excellent meal while hanging out at the Tesla Superchargers in the parking lot. Only suggestion is non-food. Fix alignment of blinds so they are neat and not tilted/rolled. Clean windows of scotch tape fragments. And generally clean and straighten everything. Not a great impression.
Picked up an online order. It didn’t have the California roll for my bento. I called and they were very apologetic, and gave me extra California roll and seaweed salad. Excellent service from this restaurant.
Cozy little place right in a shopping center that my family and I visit often, but this was our first time trying it. I liked that they offered a children's bento box, maybe my son will get that next time. My husband and I enjoyed our sushi.
Online ordering was easy enough. The take out food ordered was to serve 4 people and everyone said it was delicious.
Really solid neighborhood sushi restaurant. The owners were extremely polite and the food was packed with care. The good was great! Generous portions, everything correct, as ordered. Looking forward to next time!
I was very happily surprised by this place. Service was super friendly and fast, the menu is extensive and prices are reasonable. I ordered the seafood hot soba and it was absolutely delicious! I felt like I was eating super healthy, plenty of vegetables and seafood in a light but delicious broth. The portion was also pretty big that I took the leftover home and had another meal the next day! I will definitely go back and would happily order that again!
Very great portion for good value. Love their tempura, always served hot and well-fried. Gyoza is good too. I always go for the combination bowl. Ambience is good, not noisy, good for heart to heart talk with friends.
Sumptuous food with good portions and many options for vegetarians and vegans. We had the tempura and the tofu teriyaki don. Everything tasted great, was plated well and service from the staff was wonderful.
Great food, large menu selection, good portions, lots of tasty flavors, and wonderful service (always with a smile). Plenty of parking, but could get crowded inside as seating can be limited during crowded times. This gem of a restaurant is one of my favorites and I visit as often as I can. Highly recommended! 🍣🥢😋👍🏼
Ordered for pickup via doordash. It was completed flawlessly, even early! We had some modifications and they got them correct. This was our first time here, but we'll be back. It's our new place after our old place slipped in quality and value.
They do take-aways only - and have an extensive menu that makes it hard to decide. With the constant cloudy, windy & intermittent drizzle/rain past two days, decided a Yosenabe would warm me up 😊. Chockfull of prawns, clams, mussels, scallops & oyster. Loads of tofu, brocolli, carrot strips, white cabbage & glass noodle - with broth to the brim & hot. Portion enough for two meals or to share! Came with a small container of white rice & a bowl of fresh salad - was not expecting this as it was not in the menu description. 👍
This is a family-run small business, and it is wonderful! It is run by a couple who treat their few employees like family, and the food shares their love! They have options for anyone, so if you don’t see what you want, call them and ask for it. The Follow Your Dream roll came from a craving during my pregnancy, and it has made it onto their menu. Their food is fabulous, and their service is wonderful. Please, support this small business, and then enjoy your meal! In my included photos: House made Miso soup Steamed Edamame Avocado roll Grilled Salmon Kama Chicken Karaage Asparacado roll California Roll Shrimp on Fire Follow Your Dream special order: Gluten Free Asparacado roll (steamed asparagus with avocado, and add cream cheese) It was all delicious as always!
Good choice for Japanese food. The fish is fresh, rolls (which you have a great variety to choose from) are tasty and the service is fast enough. If you will sit at the bar, there are little boat that are floating along the bar carrying rolls to grab. Nice place overall and the parking at Cherry Chase plaza is big enough.
Another GREAT LUNCH... The Mussell appetizer is delicious, and the "Super Duper" (pictured) is FANTASTIC!!! the service is always welcoming and delivered with a smile! Thank you, Hanamaru!!!
This place is amazing! The service is really friendly and fast! It really isnt that busy even at peak lunch hours on weekdays, but the waiters and sushi chef do tell me that there is a line that forms outside on weekends and because of it, this place is packed on weekends. The ambience is blended well between contemporary restaurants of today and traditional Japanese styling! Of course... 😄 Theres also that sushi boat system, which is always cool to see the sushi go around in nice boats with cute ducks on them. I'd highly recommend this option if you're on a budget or just not that hungry and chatting with friends for this place, because most of the bentos, rice plates, or even their noodles are $10 or higher! You could also get their sushi plates, I'd recommend the dragon rolls or fire balls! As for me i got the teriyaki bento box and, oh my, is it the best ive had out of any sushi place ive tried so far! The bento box contains both chicken and beef teriyaki pieces, a salad, some tempura pieces and steamed rice. The salad was pretty decent for a sushi place salad, their dressing was alright but i was surprised to see how fresh everything was, the tomato was also a nice addition, not so much can be said for the spinach. The tempura was done really well, everything was crispy and even on all sides and gives you from broccoli to the shrimp, all covered in tempura coating and a nice mat on the bottom to absorb the oil. The rice.. is just rice, but the best and the reason why i ordered this is the beef and chicken teriyaki! Both pieces are separated from one another and held on a nice piece of lettuce! The beef was well done and tender! Same with the chicken and how it was covered with... You know TERIYAKI SAUCE? And the sause was really good and plentiful enough for all if the pieces Hanamaru gives you, maybe even too much! All of this for $13, which is pretty good! Considering what you get! I forgot to also mention it comes with miso soup, really nice! In all, this is a pretty great place! And if you'd come here to spend a little more, this is the place for really great sushi! And also make sure to try their teriyaki options! :D
So fortunate to have this great restaurant in the walking distance to my home, they are amazing! Great food, nice service, and very reasonable price. Even in this pandemic the to-go is still beautiful! Highly recommended.

No complaints. I ordered some simple sushi and a seaweed salad and it was fresh and well made. Exactly what I was craving. Arrived to pick it up a few minutes early and was offered a table to sit and wait vs made to stand at the door. Very courteous service. If picking up, suggest you order directly from the restaurant's app as it is cheaper than Doordash by a few dollars per item and the store will keep more of the money. Also their app has a point system for earning free food.
Hanamaru is a fantastic sushi spot. Probably the best sushi in Sunnyvale. Been going for years and years and never disappointed. I love the specialty rolls here like, Black tiger roll, Cherry blossom roll and U.F.O. roll. Chef's nigiri and sashimi are well portioned cuts of fresh fish. Usual fair like edamame and miso great too. Highly recommend!
I love this place and eat here weekly to every other week. It’s not “fancy” atmosphere which I prefer. Feels like home hanging with my friends. The quality of the food is unbeatable!! Have never had anything I do not love and at a price that is very affordable. How often does that happen??
Very friendly and caring personal service. Food is great, and in reasonable portions. Big variety of sushi. The Bento box is great - you can choose any 2 or 3 items and you get miso soup and salad on the side.

The sushi here is pretty great. The fish tastes nice and the balance of flavors in their recipes works well. They also do some fun rolls worth trying, like their Awesome Hanamaru or the Lemon Drop. Service is always pleasant and they owners are lovely folks. My only ongoing complaint is that the bathrooms are not in good shape (and haven't been for a long time) and it detracts from what would otherwise be a gem of a local restaurant. Still, we eat here often for the good food.
Just too long to get my order. Taste ,service, price are very good. I will comeback soon.
The food was three and a half (3.5)stars. It could be because I went there 30 minutes prior to close. Edamame wasn't as I would've expected. Mixed vegetable and shrimp tempura was the best of my full order. Sushi and sashimi combo was ok-ish. And It was a little pricey. The service and the attitude was excellent.

Used to eat here every week, but significantly worse service now. Takeout only, average quality sushi, mj sushi is better. Very slow pickup times. About 45 minutes after estimated pickup time. No apologies or explanation after. 37$ for 3 rolls
Poor experience with the sushi. The Hamachi was cut in very large and hard to eat pieces. The rolls were falling apart from the center of the table to my plate, sometimes even as soon as I grabbed them. Fish was not properly cleaned (found a piece of scale of skin, can't tell). Can't recommend it.
Primary the food quality was poor, I couldn't taste fresh ingredients in the sushi rolls. There was one other couple however the very long wait to get our food wasn't necessary since the place was nearly empty. The server smelled like he just got back from a cigarette break. The food taste and quality wasn't authentic, specially when you see that the Chef is hispanic man. I worry and hope he washed his hands often because he wasn't wearing gloves to prepare our food. The price for the food ration is pricey. I can't say I recommend this place. I don't think I will be coming back anytime soon, unless the establishment makes changes to the food and service.
Possibly one of the worst sushi places I've been to in the bay area. Got a ichiban roll (eel + albacore + unagi sauce), and the unagi sauce was just TERRIBLE. I couldn't taste the actual eel or accompanying fish due to the overwhelming unagi sauce. It was VERY artificial and sugary, and really ruined the entire meal for me. Would not recommend anyone to come here, and if you did, stay away from the unagi sauce!!

The older guy was friendly. I really hate to leave bad reviews. The sushi was probably the worst I’ve had. The lion queen roll was super sloppy and could not be grabbed with chopsticks. The other roll that I ate had absolutely no flavor. I’m sorry. Maybe it was the Mexican chef??

He comes to make a delivery and had already given me the food, La Meri in my car came from behind me and took the food from me and told me that he was going to check if the order was complete then he canceled the order and two minutes later another person came with the same order and gave it to him quickly why do they do that I understand that many times the food is not ready but you can say you know that usually we take five minutes but this time we are going to take 20 it is your decision if you want to cancel or not but they can't do that thing where they already give you the food they come, push you in the door of your car and take the food from you and get in
Worst Japanese food I’ve ever had. Udons were too thin, fried chicken cutlet was soggy and chewy. The best part of the meal was salad and miso soup 🥲 Only provide take out (there was no dine in)
