I am so glad that they opened in Sunnyvale. We used to drive 45min to Redwood City to enjoy their Vegan Sushi but now it's much more accessible. The menu right now is leaner compared to the Redwood City location but our server told us that starting next year they'll add more items. We got Miso soup on the house. We ordered our standard order of their Vegan Sushi - veggie on fire, veggie bomb and mango asparagus. Everything tasted as the Redwood City location.
The new Sunnyvale location is perfect—spacious, with plenty of parking, making it a huge upgrade from their previous Redwood City spot. The staff is incredibly welcoming, and the food is just amazing! I ordered the Oh Baby Sushi and the regular Chirashi—both were fresh and absolutely delicious. Plus, no wait even on weekends! Highly recommend this place!
So happy Oh Baby Sushi opened something close to us! We had to go all the way to Redwood City otherwise. We ordered 4 of their vegetarian rolls, Tiger roll, Veggie Bomb, Big Daddy Roll and the Veggie on Fire. They were all amazing as usual! Service is quick and the ambiance is great. There’s a lot more seating than the Redwood City location.
Came in on Saturday and it was empty - very spacious so don’t worry about getting a table even tho they don’t take reservations. Noticed none of the staff and cooks were Asian so we reset our expectations that the its going to be fusion 😄 Came for the chirashi bowl which didn’t disappoint - but it’s truly a bucket of rice 😆 would suggest half the rice to reduce waste lol. Also all of the cuts were very fatty - would suggest a better balance between fatty and lean fish. Miso soup was good but on the sweet side if that’s what you like! Overall Fresh ingredients, would recommend sashimi (loved the spotted shrimp) or veggie rolls (the big daddy was great and not too fried), but not the maki rolls like salmon or hamachi, they’re HUGE with a LOT of rice lol. Not your typical Japanese rolls. A lot of Mexican fusion on the menu but im sure it works out! Would come back if we have veggie friends.
One of the best sushi places I've been to, everything is so fresh and high quality -- definitely worth the slightly higher price. The pickled ginger is so fresh and delicious. I tried the Deep Fried Philly Roll and it was huge and perfectly balanced. My friend got the chirashi bowl and everything in it was incredible, really amazing cuts of fish and great umi. The atmosphere is comfortable, not too loud so it's easy to chat and enjoy your meal and the service is lovely.
Oh Baby Sushi is a genuinely delightful find, offering a wonderful combination of atmosphere and flavor. Stepping inside, you're immediately greeted by a great cozy spot feel that makes for a relaxed and pleasant dining experience, whether you're there for a quick lunch or a laid-back dinner. What truly impressed me were the amazing vegetarian options. It's clear the chefs put thought and creativity into their meat-free selections, providing variety and complexity that goes far beyond the standard menu. It’s a definite win for anyone looking for standout plant-based sushi! Across the board, the food quality was excellent; everything tasted good. Each roll and appetizer was fresh and well-prepared. To top it all off, the service was fast and efficient. Our order arrived quickly, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. If you're looking for a reliably delicious, welcoming sushi spot—especially one that caters wonderfully to vegetarians—Oh Baby Sushi is highly recommended.
I had a great experience here! I shared three rolls with a friend, and the standout for me was definitely the Warriors roll, so flavorful! I asked if they could add lemon slices, and they were kind enough to accommodate the request. The fish was also very fresh. I came on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised that there was no wait, though the place started to fill up as we were finishing our meal. It’s tucked away in a quiet, unassuming plaza, but this spot is a hidden gem for sushi. I’ll be back!
Excellent sushi especially for the price. If you like rolls, highly recommend the double toro roll and the Ferrari. Otherwise you cannot go wrong with the chirashi or the oh baby box.
The food I ordered was good (Spicy Tuna Crunch and the Lion King Roll), but they also kept giving me free food. They gave me Miso soup, edamame and something called a veggie taco, all of which were also good. I was truly suffering from success. The staff was fast and friendly, the food came out promptly, the restaurant was clean, and there was water available at every table upon arrival. They make you feel like a VIP here. Highly recommended.
I’ve tried the Oh Baby Sushi in Redwood City and was so exited to have a location closer to me! We tried the veggie tacos which were amazing, as well as the spicy udon soup, veggie tiger roll, and veggie spicy bomb roll and everything was so good! We picked medium for the spicy udon soup and could have probably done the extra spicy so now we know for next time. Great spot with fast service and we are so thankful they think of us vegans and make such tasty options 🙏
Different style of sushi rolls but all we tried were delicious. Food served quickly from the time we ordered. They do get busy and there are not too many tables.
Oh Baby Sushi has become our favorite sushi destination! The new location in Sunnyvale is truly ideal. With plenty of parking available and a much larger dining area, it feels incredibly spacious compared to their previous spot in Redwood City. The hosts greet you with such warmth. And the food? It's simply outstanding, consistently delivering the delicious flavors we've come to love! Everything we ordered blew our socks off! Absolutely recommend!
Salmon on Fire Roll 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Recommend it! Also tried Nigiri here and my partner really liked it!
Nice, seemingly unassuming sushi restaurant tucked into a tiny corner plaza close to the suburbs. Not a lot of decorations or premium dishware inside, but "if you're here for the fish you'll get good fish" (my date). Also, friendly staff. Miso soup: piping hot, albeit sweeter than other places I've been? Not bad though. Veggie tacos (free today in exchange for an honest review): nice & refreshing! I like the filling: corn, tomatoes & such. The base crisp felt a tiny bit cold / stale, wish they would fry it fresh, but still a delightful couple of bites. Heart attack roll: tasty, classic. Nice quality ingredients, definitely could order again! Deluxe chirashi bowl: today, came with ebi, hamachi tuna, Hokkaido scallop, Santa Barbara uni, salmon chutoro, otoro, butterfish, & kampachi (?). Again, high quality ingredients! Though maybe could've been sliced better? Some slices had slightly chewier bits? I'm no sashimi expert though. Really enjoyed the paired toppings, and the sushi rice was nicely & lightly flavored (slight bit of truffle? Can't tell). Also, maybe as I'm newer to sashimis, I couldn't tell immediately what order to eat everything in. Maybe the fish could be ordered from lean to fatty, as I've seen elsewhere? Or was it ok to be choose-your-own-adventure? Anyways! Enjoyable. I'd order again for a special occasion, but honestly getting a ton of rolls also seems nice. Date adds, "otoro was so good."
Tried this place in the first week when they opened and its right there in terms of taste, service and much bigger as a place with respect to the redwood branch. Tried their spicy garlic edamame, fire on cracker and spicy veggie roll. They all tasted delicious. Service was great too. Looking forward to our next visit.
A great spot for some delicious sushi. This place can definitely get busy, so arrive early to avoid the rush.
Fresh and flavorful Perfect Hamachi Roll with juicy protein and a slight touch of wasabi on top. It kept the original taste of the good material. Like it The miso soup is slightly sweet which came interesting to me.
First time here and the experience was great! It doesn't look fancy from the outside or the inside but the sushi is very high quality! We had the 49ers, mango salmon, and Toro rolls and they were all great! The Deluxe Chirashi bowl is also highly recommended everything was exquisite. The menu is organized well for you to pick from the wide selection (eg tuna lover section, salmon lover, etc) and the staff was very helpful. Our waitress even recommended a roll and said she'd gladly take it back if we don't like it (but we loved it!) Do note that the sushi is on medium to high price. But you get what you pay for, and more!

Loved the variety of vegetarian rolls, each one packed with flavor and beautifully presented. Tried: Veggie On Fire, Veggie Bomb Roll, Veggie Tiger Roll, awesome and must try!

Excellent quality sushi! Taste very fresh. The place is clean, and service is friendly, quick and responsive. The rolls came out quick and we even got complimentary miso soup. This is our second time here. We love it. Definitely will be back.
They have so many Vegan Sushi options. We tried Veggie taco roll, fire roll, spicy roll (without cream cheese), veggie bomb roll, Tempura crunch roll and Vegan udon noodle soup. The have other appetizers which are Vegan as well. Yummy food!
Really great service, came in with kids and they were very attentive and provided kid friendly items such as paper and crayons and even gave a free drink for the kids to share! We ordered a number of rolls including the special rainbow, 49er, salmon on fire, heart attack (probably our favorite), and the mango unagi roll. Fish quality wise, I'd give them 3/5, the fish was a bit stiff and was pretty average but we did like their sauces and combinations. Didn't get to try their tacos, which seems to be something they're known for so maybe we can try that next time. Prices were a bit more than I'd expect given the size of the rolls and quality of fish but we are in Sunnyvale so it's geared towards tech folks.
This place offers a solid Japanese seafood experience. The deluxe chirashi was generously portioned, and the sashimi on top was exceptionally fresh. Their other sushi rolls were also very flavorful and well-prepared. As a Japanese person, however, I found the sauces a bit overpowering. While I appreciated the effort to pair each sashimi with a different sauce, the flavors were sometimes too strong and detracted from the natural taste of the seafood. A lighter touch would help showcase the quality of the ingredients better. One downside was the condition of the restaurant’s flooring—uneven throughout, which made nearly every table unstable. A renovation might be worth considering to improve overall comfort. That said, the food itself was still very good and worth trying.
The food tasted excellent as it was made with fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. There are a variety of vegan options available, which was a win for us. The spicy veggie roll and veggie tacos were the star of the meal. However, the prices are on the expensive side and the service is just average.

This place is really well suited for all who like sushi, but wants it to be more adjusted to own taste preference: - a lot of vegetarian options - different spice level options - raw/cooked options - alternative options - kids options It's nothing like a Japanese restaurant, it's a decent fusion with non classic options to choose from.
🍱 A Great Destination for Vegans, but "Just Okay" for Fish Lovers Oh Baby Sushi is clearly a local favorite, and I can see why—especially for the vegan community. It has gained a massive reputation for its plant-based rolls, and if you are looking for vegan-friendly sushi, this is likely one of the top spots in town. However, as someone who eats traditional fish sushi, I found the experience to be middle-of-the-road. While the food wasn't bad, it didn't stand out in a competitive market. 🐟 Comparison of Value, Taste, and Quantity I absolutely love sushi, but for those who consider themselves sushi connoisseurs, this might not be the "wow" experience you're looking for. When comparing it to other sushi restaurants nearby, I felt that I could get better value, superior taste, and larger portions elsewhere. The fish quality was acceptable, but it lacked that signature melt-in-your-mouth freshness or creative flair that sets top-tier sushi spots apart. It feels more like a casual, everyday sushi spot rather than a destination for high-end nigiri or sashimi. 👨👩👧👦 Family-Friendly Atmosphere & Extensive Menu One of the major strengths of Oh Baby Sushi is its robust and diverse menu. There is something for everyone, which makes it an excellent choice for families or large groups where people have different tastes. The atmosphere is very casual and welcoming, so you don't feel the pressure of a formal dining setting. If you have kids or are dining with people who aren't particularly picky about their fish, this is a very convenient and comfortable place to eat. 👍 Final Thoughts Overall, Oh Baby Sushi is a solid, three-star establishment. It serves its purpose as a casual, inclusive dining option, particularly for those prioritizing vegan choices or a family-friendly environment. However, if your primary goal is the highest quality fish or the best bang for your buck in terms of quantity, there are likely other spots in the area that will better satisfy those specific cravings.
I feel bad to post this review but I’m puzzled by the high rating. I felt the experience here was just okay, we paid almost $50 per person for two rolls each with no drinks or anything. Definitely avoid the miso soup, it’s expensive for the portion and too salty. The rolls were pretty good but not outstanding for $20 a roll. I felt the ambiance was too sleepy, would recommend that they play some more upbeat music. The servers were nice and the restaurant did seem clean.
We were quite disappointed of this sushi place. It has quite good reviews that lead us to go. The sushi was O…K….. Memu was considered less variety comparing to other sushi houses. We were surprised that there was no chicken karrage in the menu…. However, they have veggie sushi section on the menu which was good for vegetarian sushi lovers. Its staff were friendly. Its environment doesn’t look very Japanese restaurants to me. Not recommended.

I don't usually leave reviews but the rating was so detached from my experience so I had to say something. 1. The waitresses were very polite but food took forever to come out. 25+ minutes for our sushi when the restaurant was half full. I can't imagine how long the wait will be when the restaurant is full. 2. Even though we didn't order miso soup and salad, they served it to us on the house which was great! However, I think this is the first time having sweet miso soup (tasted like they added sugar? Why??) and it actually lowered my expectations of the food. 3. The price of sushi seems way higher than the quality of the fish - the deluxe chirashi bowl was $60.95, felt like it should have been closer to $35-45. After 20+ minutes, the chef came by to tell us that the shrimp was not fresh enough for them to serve us and asked if it was ok to substitute for scallop which I was grateful for them being honest. 4. However if they check for freshness.. how did the double toro roll ($27.95) have such a bad batch served to us? You can see from the photo of the roll, the right half is way brighter than the left - and we could taste the difference very clearly. (For some reason) this roll has mango and the left batch only tasted of mango.
Came here for dinner on a Tuesday evening. Place was about half full, lots of tables open. Despite the many staff standing around, we didn’t receive a menu right away. Once we placed our order, it was painstakingly obvious how slow they are. The 3 rolls we ordered took over 40 minutes to arrive. Food wise, the oh baby roll had salmon on top, which was quite stringy and tough to chew at places. The perfect roll (hamachi roll) also had seaweed that’s chewy. Salmon on fire was decent. The staff also were not very friendly. Overall just didn’t give a good environment for dining in. It’s probably better to just get takeout from this place
I hate to leave a negative review when the food was really good but we were firstly shocked on seeing a cockroach running around on the seating area. We would have been happy to at least get an apology but we were even more frustrated on the reaction from the staff who just said they'll tell their boss without any follow up even after 10 mins. We really liked the place but won't be visiting it again
We called Oh Baby Sushi to ask about allergens in the food. When we asked specifically whether certain sauces contained allergens, the man who answered told us to “check the menu” and then abruptly disconnected the call. I called back, and as soon as he recognized my voice, he hung up again. Initially, I thought it might be a network issue, but I tried calling from two different friends’ phones. Each time, once he heard my voice, he immediately cut the call. Eventually, he stopped answering altogether and the calls went straight to voicemail. This was around 5:30 PM, which was not a busy time. When we went in to pick up our order, he again seemed uninterested, walked away, and asked a lady to help us instead. Thankfully, she was very polite and helpful. The food itself is good, but this individual’s customer service was rude and unprofessional. Given that allergen information can be a serious health concern, this experience was disappointing.
I would rather eat scraps off the floor of a fish market while being flogged and immersed in tear gas than subject myself to the Oh Baby Sushi experience again. This spot hit the trifecta of horrendous food, apathetic service, and toxic atmosphere. My first impression was the overwhelmingly nauseating smell of cleaning supplies as I walked in the door a full hour before closing. Reminded me of the smell found in an Emergency Room triage center. I should have walked out then, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I ordered the chirashi. It took the better part of an hour for it to be prepared despite there being a total of six other people in the restaurant (two of them were done eating). The one thing you need to get right in a sushi joint is the rice. It was comparable to Uncle Ben’s after being doused in rice vinegar. The sashimi was decent, but every piece was slathered in one type of sauce or another, so it was hard to tell. They decorated the bowl with weird twigs and an entire bamboo mat rolled up which was an odd aesthetic. Then there was the service. Once the clock struck 9, the server’s primary concern was to go table to table and hustle all of the customers out of the restaurant whether they were done eating or not. I had only recently received my order, and I was stunned by the utter disregard for guest experience. I even paid the check early to make things easier for her, and tipped above average despite the pathetic service. I’ve never wanted to claw back a tip before tonight. Considering the quantity and quality of the competition in the area, it’s hard to believe this place stays open. After decades of enjoying sushi in all corners of this country and around the world, Oh Baby will be memorable for just how horrendous it is. Do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere other than here if you are looking for sushi.
