This spot quickly became our breakfast go to for our trip. The food was fresh and fast and there were plenty of options to choose from. The Bloody Mary was delightful!
I've enjoyed the Harbor House Cafe for over 20 years and it still doesn't disappoint. Thank you for being around.
Very cute place inside and out the food was amazing 😍 or sever was great! We loved it.
This authentic American diner was stood out on food and interior. This restaurant is decorated with pictures, drawings, uniforms and much history in this place. I tried country steak fried, they put white sauce on top of it and it was so delicious. The portion of the food is filled me up so much I had to take other food to go. My friends and I came more than 20miles away from this place and I would definitely come back here for their food again!
It is not what it was a few years ago but the food is still decent. The shakes are great. Breakfast is ok. Skip the dinner menu. It used to be the place to go for afters. Now it is just a random spot to hit once in a while.
excellent food and service! We ate here two days in a row! My husband is picky with service and he was so impressed! Definitely will eat here again ;)
A really solid surf themed diner down in Sunset Beach. Established in 1939 there are two locations, this one in Sunset Beach and the other in Dana Point. They are known for their 24 hour service and for having casual but tasty food. I live in Marina del Rey but drove down to OC specifically for this breakfast and I’m happy that I did so. Our waiter was very polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. They have a small parking lot attached otherwise it’s not very difficult to find free street parking if the parking lot is full. They have a very large menu and their most famous dish is the Chicken Fried Steak. Inside is fairly large as well and there are many different sized tables so they can accommodate small to big groups. For my breakfast, I usually order the Eggs Benedict but this time I wanted to try something new so I chose the Guacamole Omelette. I decided to change the bacon to steak and felt it was a good call. The guacamole on top was fresh and added a lot of flavor and overall it was just a really good breakfast. The portion size was very fair and so was the pricing. Diner prices around town have gone up in the last year or so, but I still feel it is worth it. I do plan to stop in again next time I am down in this area.
Great local cafe that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The decor is a plethora of old movie posters, unique historical photos, beach, and surf props. Great for small groups or family's. The service was fast, the food is delicious, and nothing tasted frozen or precooked. Located right on PCH, parking is available, but limited. Carpooling or taxi services are recommended on weekends and during the summer months. It is a very popular restaurant, so waiting can occur. I was there on a Friday morning around 11am, and there was plenty of seating. There is an atm inside if you need cash for the day, but the restaurant takes all major payment methods. I'm not sure if they accept Google or Apple pay.
Food: I I ordered the beef dip with onion rings, and a chocolate shake. The beef dip was a large portion and the meat was quite juicy and tender. Though, the onion rings could have had a little bit more flavor but I ate them with a smile. There's two sizes of shakes, a large and small. The small is a perfect size, served in a classic manner, in metal mix container. Service: The staff was polite, friendly, and accurate with my order. Checked up on me a couple of times to see if everything was perfect. Final thought: This restaurant is right by the beach, a 2 minute walk. A classic diner with plenty of American choices. Not my first time and it won't be my last.
only came here to get\nMilkshakes \nWhich I enjoyed. I felt like I was on a cute date in the 70s 80s 90s whenever da f diners were around. Me and my friend got milkshakes and shared them. We r so cut…

This Sunset Beach location is right on the Pacific Coast Highway. There is parking kind of tucked away on the side, as well as right there on PCH. I came here after a recommendation from a friend w…
Typical, cute, highway 1 diner. Very similar to the one next door. The shakes are great but they are expensive at $8. Next door at Woody's they are $7.50. both expensive. I got the chili size on my first visit. The chili was really good. The burger was overcooked. The fries were good. My strawberry shake was great. My friend's Pineapple shake was incredible. The next day I got something with hash browns, they were dry. Nice visits overall.
Harbor House is a standard stop for locals. It’s a diner vibe with good breakfast and lunch items. Typical weak diner coffee, service is slow/fast depending on the visit. Your satisfaction will depend on your expectations. If you are looking for a new take on food - go elsewhere. If you like a non-chain diner, you’ll love it. We got the breakfast sandwich and breakfast burrito with hash browns. We liked them! If you’re at Sunset Beach and they don’t have a wait- give ‘em a try.

Had been going to Harbor House for years… used to be the old favorite reliable open all night restaurant serving great food even at 0400. And you'll see what it used to be on their website, still advertising open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year… if you drive by the one in Sunset Beach, the sign still says open 24 hours. But they're not. It's a flat out lie from a place that used to be open 24 hours, and now doesn't have the competence, basic decency, or respect for their customers to have their website updated to reflect current open hours… even though it's apparently been years… Come by after midnight, or stop by after 2200 weeknights, and you'll see the big sign overhead still advertising 24 hours above an empty restaurant with a locked door and a small sign in the window saying "closed". It's difficult to express just how disappointing and annoying this situation is, driving home from Long Beach to south OC after very late nights - still remembering the times when I could stop and get a good meal or at least nice snack at Harbor House… and now what I always see is a blatant lie on their main sign, I can go to their website and see the same blatant unacceptable lie, open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, but there it is - CLOSED - as I drive on by. If you happen to catch them while they're open I supposed the food's still decent and the atmosphere's okay… it's a shame the service is totally non-existent and they won't even let you in, let alone take your order or bring your food, even though they claim to be always open for you. Entirely unacceptable. I won't be giving Harbor House my business again - at least not until they have the basic courtesy to update their website and sign to accurately reflect their current open hours. Probably won't give them my biz even then because there are lots of businesses that do it just as well or better than Harbor House across the same hours that Harbor House is open now… the thing that used to make Harbor House unique is that they did good food and a good price when none of those restaurants who might do it better were open. Oh well… it's just over.
well, i parked in the handicap spot and followed the path to the “wheelchair accessible entrance,” which is a door with no handle and a doorbell. i sat there ringing the doorbell and knocking for about five minutes and nobody ever let me in. i know they were open, the sign said so and there were people inside. at that point i left, they clearly didn’t want my business.
Don't come here. If you are searching the low ratings you don't belong here. You wouldn't appreciate the best diner breakfast I've had in decades. You wouldn't appreciate the efficient friendly staff and talented cooks who will prepare your food in the dark when the rain storm knocks out the electricity. You wouldn't like the maybe gruff looking locals. Go somewhere else. Maybe a contemporary flashy fancy place. Leave this diner to the rest of us.
