I absolutely 💯 love this experience. Everything is perfect and if I could 👌 I would give 7 ✨ and 3 🌹to the pub, to John and the rest of the staff. If I could go back to being a chef 🧑🍳 I would apply for a job! 🙏 Thank you thank you thanks 🙏 not only for a fantastic experience but for also for your customer care, not only your customer support and customer service. Keep up the amazing work you do and I will be back. Hopefully 🤞🙏🎁💛 because the risotto was delicious and I want to try some more other options from the menu!
Great home cooked food and if you're local and of a certain age then you'll be pleased to hear some dishes are greatly influenced by The Three Crowns at Brinkworth! We had 5 very different styles of meal, all hot and delicious and expertly executed. We'll be back to try the rest of the menu!
Absolutely brilliant, traditional pub/dining experience. All meals are individually cooked to order, so our meals were very fresh and hot. There were about 15 very different main meal selections to choose from. Probably about 10 starters and similar number of desserts. The location is rural with sufficient parking. The staff were very inviting, accommodating and professional. Will we return? Too right we will. Thanks to everyone at The Bell for making our lunchtime catch-up a most pleasurable one.
Been here a few times now, very consistent. Food is always amazing, very generous portions. The staff always make you feel welcome.
So many friends have told me to try this place..after a few attempts at getting a table i can see why it gets booked up..the staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming..a lovely feel to the place as you walk in..the service is excellent & the food is absolutely amazing..Will definitely be going back..
Was treated by my daughter, the food is fantastic, plenty of choice, staff very welcoming, and service excellent. I had chicken liver pate, followed by sea bass on slightly sweet chilli vegetables absolutely delicious . My daughter had garlic mushrooms, followed by Pork, plenty of vegetables as well.
Loved our meal here! I explained to the staff that I would need to take food home before we ordered, and that was not a problem. The food was exceptional! The staff were so helpful and could not have done more, we will be back! My husband was a military chef and he stated this was the best roast he has ever had! Compliments to the chef, team and owners!
I took a party of six to the Bell recently, for a lunch. 2 children, 4 adults. The parking and location are great for me, as its only slightly out into the country, and there is a lot of parking space. The pub itself is a great example of a traditional country pub, with fittings and fireplace you'd expect. I'm 6"4 so I had to duck in a few places, but that's all part of the charm. The menu is extensive, and there is a dedicated kids menu too, with a wide selection of options. The food itself is fantastic, with a great range of options across meat, fish and vegetarian. Across all the meals everyone was extremely happy. The food is a great balance of flavor and subtlety, nothing is overpowering, but all the flavors come through together. Staff were super friendly, and welcoming, and I couldn't fault the experience.
Easter Sunday to celebrate Easter and end of Cancer Radiotherapy with Chemotherapy treatments. At start of cancer treatment told no steaks, no bread. Sitting in Chemo Chair Dariusdave dreamed of Sunday Lunches at The Bell. Came with daughter from London wonderful Sunday lunch. Roast beef tasty with real texture. Roast potatoes crispy and full flavour, sliced carrots perfect, red cabbage fine, wonderful leeks and great Bell's own cider gravy. Disappointed no Rhubarb Mess but Cheese and Biscuits manifique tasty Cheddar, Creamy Brie and Rich Stilton with chutney and red grapes. Can't wait for London daughter to visit again. An epicurian feast worthy of Easter Sunday it all tasted so good..
Went to The Bell to celebrate my grandmothers birthday as a group of 7. The bell was so warm and welcoming and all the staff made us feel so welcome and friendly and allowed us to take our time. We were a mixed group of ages and all felt accommodated. The menu was a good variety and reasonably priced. The steak is amazing and cooked perfectly to order. Can also reccomend the garlic mushroom starter. Staff also accommodated by preparing our own birthday cake for a surprise for my grandmother. I will be coming back again.
Absolutely amazing food, lovely pub, nice staff, not cheap, you fet what you pay for..Well worth a visit
Came here for a friend's birthday meal and really loved the food. I ordered the tenderloin pork and it was flavoursome, rich and plenty of sauce. Came with cheese dumplings which are also a starter, very indulgent!
Had driven an elderly lady to the area to visit her sister and had a few hours to kill. The Bell came up on a Google search for somewhere nearby to eat. Two observations, one, I wish I'd had more to stay, and two, wish I wasn't driving. The one pint of real ale I had was superb and the meal exceeded all expectations. The steak, mushroom and Stilton pie with chips was excellent but the addition of a meledy of vegetables made the meal first class. I would highly recommend this pub if you're anyway in the area.
We dropped in for our 2nd wedding anniversary and were made very welcome. The belly pork was outstanding!
Lovely to be out with the family for 2nd sitting 15.00 PM lunch. Cheese and biscuits that followed was almost another full meal and totally recommend.
Wonderful food. A fantastic gluten free menu with choices and all three courses which is really rare. The staff are wonderful, it is cosy and welcoming. Definitely go.
Grate for homemade quality and reasonable prices.
Amazing food and service - can’t be beaten - always recommended 5 stars all the way :-) thanks Guy, Kaileigh and amazing team for a fantastic evening 👍🍾
My favourite place to go and eat. The food is amazing and the pork and cheese dumplings especially are to die for. All the staff are really friendly and the pub itself has a lovely atmosphere. I would highly recommend.
Been here a few times and the food is amazing every time. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and yummy food! 100% recommend!
Excellent staff and service, delicious pub food
My family and I visited the Bell for lunch on Sunday 9th March. We all had excellent food and the service was attentive without being overbearing. Personally I had the roast pork. The meat was beautifully cooked, gravy rich and tasty, roast potatoes crisp and fluffy, Yorkshire superb and the vegetables all cooked to perfection.
Always a great night at The Bell. Great service and even better food. Starting to become a bit of a regular!
I have had successive excellent meals at The Bell. Friendly staff, good service, but best of all, great food. A good varied menu and flexible with dairy intolerance. Been as a couple several times, as a family and also as a group (30 people for a work event) - each time, the food was cooked with great attention and full of flavour.
The best food I have eaten out in 5 years. Had all the starters as tapas mains, and the four dessert taster plate. All exceptional in taste and texture. Exceptional value. First google review I have been bothered to leave for an eatery. To find a chef of this calibre in an old country pub was a surprise. Great service and staff.
After spotting the pub and driving past many times finally booked a table for a Sunday Roast / Birthday Treat. Quite Simple the best roast we have had out and one of the best meals out.... We had 1 regular roast and 1 large / mixed roast followed by a desert. The food was served in good time and was hot :) Meats all tender :) Great Taste :) Good Portion Sizes :) All staff welcoming & polite. Couldn't fault service :) Table , Cutlery and Pub Clean :) Please don't change a thing... We will be Back
The food here is of the highest standard, with very well kept beer and a decent wine list. Tonight was a real treat, we'll definitely be back.
Lovely pub, staff and fantastic food. Excellent value.
Always accommodate a large group for sunday lunch.
The place's prime location, easy parking, and generous food portions make it a promising spot. Yet, vegetarians and chicken enthusiasts might feel a bit limited in their choices. Despite the slightly cramped atmosphere for larger groups, the cozy ambiance and satisfactory seating arrangements are pluses. The staff's friendliness adds to the experience, although there is room for service improvement. With an average spending of £20 - £35 per person for a starter, main, and a drink, I am certainly looking forward to revisiting the place in the future. 😇
Came here at lunchtime. Really cosy pub. Great atmosphere and the music wasn't too loud. We had the Mexicana linguine. And the bell inn "scampi". With a side of cheese dumplings and ice cream after. The linguine was a healthy portion and my misses said was flavoured really well. The scampi was king prawns. Really flavored well. Unfortunately the cheese dumplings were slightly greasy. And had to be eaten straight away. That was the only thing that was the issue. Definitely will go back when the new menu is out.
Pleasant pub grub. It was quite quiet when we visited. Service was friendly and quick. It's a shame that they don't have a guest ale though as Arkells beer is terrible. A pleasant pint of Westons Cider got round that problem though.
Walk in for 1 on a Friday, sat immediately. Waited a while for a drink order and a food order. Restaurant was busy so waited 30 mins for food. Worth the wait as food was delicious. Lamb shoulder. Jus was rich and mash was creamy. Large portion of veg on the side. Rhubarb pavlova was really nice. Just wish it wasn't in a Sundae glass .
Lovely Sunday roast. Although the price is fairly high, the food is of good quality and portion size
This is a lovely pub in a beautiful setting. Unfortunately it is let down by its lack of vegetarian options on a Sunday. Whilst I am a meat eater so had lots of options when we came here to eat, my partner didn't. He could have vegetables, roasties and peppercorn sauce or a pea fritter. The bar staff were very nice and made him a cheese and pickle baguette, but we had to pay £10.50 for this. I had a turkey and cranberry baguette which was OK, but definitely not worth the £10.50. I can't fault the roasties though which were amazing. If they could cater better for vegetarians and or vegans this would be a great place, but for the food we had it was very over-priced. I'd recommend coming here for a nice drink and to soak up the area, but maybe not to eat here if you have a vegetarian or vegan in your group.
Always driven past The Bell, but never visited until now. This is a gorgeous pub in Purton, and very much worth a visit. Food on a Sunday was rather expensive though, especially for a vegetarian option which was veg, peppercorn sauce (as the gravy has meat in it) in a Yorkshire pudding and roast for £15!! The other option was minted pea fritters, also £15! I don't understand why Sunday menus for vegetarians are hard to do. It could be easy to use normal gravy not from meat, along with Quorn sausages, veg, Yorkshire, roast pots etc. Literally replace meat with vegetarian sausages. You can buy them frozen! They did have baguettes that were £10.50, though all meat related. However, the lady serving said they could do cheese and pickle in a baguette with roast pots and salad which was really nice of them. Not visited in the week, but if you are vegetation it really isn't a place to visit for food on a Sunday. The venue, 5* Menu choice for vegetarian 2* Menu choice for vegan, don't even bother coming here. Bar staff 5* for doing something that wasn't on the menu (maybe add this?!) Sadly disappointing.
