Beautiful little spot on the Riverwalk in Tampa. Service spot on. Food selection (seafood) not huge but both dishes we ordered turned out to be delicious. Ambience a 10/10.
Stopped in on a cold Florida winter evening. Great atmosphere, ambient music, heaters, friendly and attentive staff. Had martinis and appetizers that were oysters, shrimp cocktail, and grilled octopus. Drinks were well made and first course was amazing. Octopus was good portion perfectly tender and flavorful. For dinner it was blackened grouper and pappardelle entrees. Pasta was hand cut and perfect. Seafood in pasta was fantastic. Grouper was perfectly cooked and sides paired nicely. Place is spendy. If budget is concerning save this for a special night out. If not, enjoy!
Absolutely loved the atmosphere and the service was exceptional. I had a fantastic bloody mary. We had brunch. I had the avocado toast. It wasn't good at all. The bread was simply too think and so hard it couldn't be cut. My husband had the French toast which he really enjoyed. The location along Tampa Riverwalk is wonderful even on a cool December day. I will definitely be back.
We stopped in for brunch during my daughter's cheer competition. The food was excellent. I ordered the honey brioche French toast and my husband ordered the grand rising. Everything was delicious. Portions are just right. The service by Marko was impeccable. We had a waterfront table right along the Riverwalk. Lovely place. We will be back for sure.
Anchor & Brine is a great pick when you want waterfront views and a menu that’s more than just “tourist seafood.” It’s at the Tampa Marriott Water Street and leans seafood-forward with a raw bar and craft cocktail pairings, plus both indoor and outdoor terrace seating. If you can, aim for the outdoor terrace—being right on the water is the whole point. Pro tip: it’s a strong pre-/post-Riverwalk spot, but it can get busy at peak times, so reservations help.
We stay at Marriott Water Street each June, so this isn't our first time choosing to eat at Anchor and Brine. I say that simply to emphasize that the meal is great and we really appreciate the options available. I do have a food allergy, but the servers are well trained in the menu and are able to communicate to the chef in order to assure safe food options. The crafted cocktails are fun and refreshing. I ordered the plum, but everyone at the table ordered a different one. They were all visually pleasing and, according to the reports, delightful tasting. I ordered the grilled avocado side and the chicken dish. The chicken was still juicy, and the crispy skin adds nice texture and flavor should you decide to try a bite. I will always order the grilled avocado. Being right on the water gives outside dining a sweet atmosphere, but watch out for the birds. They like to drop in and pick up food that has been dropped (or thrown to them by children).
Recommend reservations river view restaurant: The menu is diverse and everything we had was delicious. It was Father's day so a bit busy but dinner did not miss a beat. The service was great and had plenty of help to male sure we had water and everything we needed. The seafood tower had great options and add on's. The drink menu had same great tasting menu. Will definitely visit again.
Everything was wonderful. I had the Smoked Grouper Dip, A&B Burger with fries, Smoked Crab Soup (savory with sweetness when you get bites of apple) and Hibiscus Gin Sour drink. And yes I ate it all because everything was so good and didn't want anything to go to waste! Late evening so I just walked home and food coma.
Stopped in here on a Sunday evening for drinks. We sat briefly inside and then had our second round outside. The bartenders are attentively and friendly. Same options inside and outside, but much larger bar outside with more seating. They have two TVs both inside and outside and will play games but with no sound. The inside bar was pretty quiet. The outside bar is mostly covered with a nice view of Riverwalk and Harbour Island. Nice spot for a drink but can’t speak for the food.
Not sure how this waterside gem escaped my list of get always. Definitely a destination that offers fantastic water views . Not to mention the opportunity to people and puppy watch as life passes you by like a current. Lovely service was provided throughout our journey. You will hear no complaints from me, our courses were served with just the right amount of space as to not feel rushed. Real delicious clean food, don’t feel guilty about treating yourself to a sweet. It’s worth it. Ask for Alexis as she ensured our every desire was met. We can’t wait to return.
First time visiting and loved it. My wife got the chicken and I got the grouper. It's a small but amazing menu. With basically a limited protein menu, they do the most with appropriate portions and amazing flavors. A must try. Sorry we ate most of ours before I realized I hadn't taken photos!!
Food all had great flavor, price is a little high but based on location pretty par for the area. Note this is all outside seating on the backside of the hotel on the riverwalk. The mussels were a full dish full of flavor and came with nice thick bread to dip into the sauce as solid 8 out of 10. The Seafood pasta was full of chunky seafood and had a spicy rich flavor. The Ribeye yes a touch high for Riverside dining was very good. The wait staff was nice and food was all full of flavor. I would recommend just make sure it's comfortable with outside temperature.
Location is great. Right on the river walk in downtown. Food was very good, and had great presentation. Drinks were unique and tasty. Service was attentive and informative on menu items. Overall a great experience. Will visit again for sure.
Walked up to the outside bar for lunch. I ordered the Superfood Bowl and John (bartender) suggested the blackened chicken to go with it. Superb! One of the most gorgeous things I’ve eaten, and the flavors and textures were outstanding! Next time I’m in the area, I’m coming back to try something else. Well done, chefs!
The environment offers class and romance. Perfect for our 28th year wedding anniversary. Our waiter (Castle) surprised us with a complimentary champagne. Excellent dining experience.
This is easily one of my fave spots in Tampa! It’s a hidden gem but the food and service always make me want to come back. It’s a beautiful setting right by the water and the food is amazing. If you are looking for a spot with great views, great service and delicious food this is the spot!
Great spot with a view of the canal — perfect setting to relax and enjoy. All the food is fresh and tasty. And of course, the oysters are on fire! 🔥🦪 Friendly staff, quick service. Highly recommend for anyone who values quality seafood and a beautiful view.
Had to write a review, because this place is better than the 4.3 rating I see. I probably go to this restaurant more than any others. The food is always good to outstanding, and I’ve never had anything here I would not order again. Unlike many places, they update the menu regularly (seasonally?), and it is a true menu update and not “these are our seasonal specials”. Same thing for their cocktails, which can be disappointing if/when something that is stellar disappears (Cioppino, come back!). The space is nice, and surprisingly tolerable in the middle of a Florida summer. One of the few places in Tampa that really is waterfront instead of “can see water”, and if you’re looking for something above sports bar or seafood shack, then Jackson’s is the only other option in the area. It is “upscale”, but not necessarily fancy or pretentious, so a place you could dress up (NOT in the summer though) and have a date night, or stop in for a regular weekday dinner/lunch. No real notes on the service. It is good and never had a bad experience. I’ve seen a lot of the same staff over the years, so the people that work there know the menu and the area, and their recommendations have always been good. Notable menu items for me are the mussels and the burger, both because most everything else will rotate out, and I haven’t found better than either around downtown. Last I knew, valet parking at the Marriott was complimentary for an hour or two of going to one of the restaurants. Wait times can vary considerably depending on season, weather, and if there’s a conference or something at the convention center.
This is definitely not your average hotel bar. It's perfectly located, with half of the bar inside the large lobby, and the other half is outside against the river walk. It really has a great date night atmosphere where there is also live music on the weekends. The espresso Martini was delicious! They offer many well crafted cocktail options as well as local beers. It's a great place to be on the water and have a nice breeze as you people watch. Highly recommend this as a local and tourist alike. Parking is a tad tricky if you're not a hotel guest, but it's an easy walk along the river to get to.
Great place to hang out on the river. Perfect bar set up for two or with a group. Bar service is wonderful and the food is fresh. We have eaten both at the bar and at a table-both are enjoyable. They have outdoor heaters and a few fire pits to gather around for the colder nights and a covered patio/fans for the hot summer months. We have returned again this year for the holidays just to enjoy Christmas in the Tampa area, play some golf, see family and friends. We also enjoyed seeing the fireworks this year New Year's Eve. Spectacular display!
Very nice atmosphere right on the River super service drinks and food were excellent definitely recommend giving them a try. Our server Mariah was very good. Cheers
Love the location of Anchor and Brine, right on Riverwalk. The steak frites were good happy they didn’t overload the plate with too many fries. I also got the Cesar salad which was fresh but the Cesar dressing was very bland. Overall, good meal maybe just need to add some salt and pepper to the salad.
The meal was delightful, the ambiance was wonderful, and the service was outstanding. Our waiter Castle was extremely attentive and very friendly. I opted for the surf & turf with two Beers, while my spouse chose the steak and shrimp dinner with two cocktails, and the dishes were simply superb.
My experience at the Marriott was already great, but dining at Anchor and Brine made it even better. The beautiful view of the Hillsborough River was captivating and perfectly complemented the high-quality food. Given that seafood is their speciality, I had to try the blackened grouper sandwich, which was fresh and balanced. The flavors of the fillet complemented the cilantro slaw and jalapeño aioli well, but if you’re craving a seafood dish, I’d recommend their crab cake. It was flavorful, fresh, and perfectly seared. Paired with a vibrant poblano tartar, the dish was delectable. However, my favorite item on their menu came from the dessert section. If you’re a chocolate lover, you’ll devour their chocolate raspberry gateau. I'm not promising this will be your experience, but it might've been the best dessert I've ever eaten. If you have room, it’s definitely worth ordering. The service was the cherry on top. Gracey, in particular, was amazing, making my experience not just enjoyable but memorable as well. I highly recommend this lovely restaurant!
Nice place to do some water side dining. Our server Noah was really good. There were about 3 conventions going on at the hotel; it was a mad house. Because of that the food did take a bit. Thankfully we weren't in a hurry. The food was good. Ordered lots of seafood. The charred octopus was delicious. Two big tentacle chucks to cut up. The Grouper dip was amazing. Our kids are up both of these. The Grouper sandwich was ok. The fillet itself was great. Just probably would have been better on rice instead of on a bun. The cuban was tasty. All in all, we didn't expect to run into all the conventions, and the staff was great at still staying attentive to us in the chaos. I would go back.

Great vibe, right on the water. The food is good, portions are smaller, but tasty 😋

We ate here for both lunch and dinner and LOVED it. We made ourselves go to a different restaurant on the 2nd night! So good!
Sushi was incredible, steak was okay, Castle our server was awesome!
Food, drinks, and atmosphere was awesome; but our server, Markus, was hands down the best part of our experience! He treated our 3yr old and 1 yr old incredibly and was absolutely top notch service. Can’t say enough great things of his service and experience bc of him. Would recommend asking for him if you eat here.
Beautiful little spot on the Riverwalk in Tampa. Service spot on. Food selection (seafood) not huge but both dishes we ordered turned out to be delicious. Ambience a 10/10.
Grabbed a quick bite and enjoyed the Wild Mushroom Flat Bread and a Diet Pepsi. Service was friendly and gave good recommendations. Food was flavorful and hearty. Location is beautiful right in the walkway near the water and the views are lovely day and night. This restaurant is on the Marriott Water Street property.
The setting is undeniably beautiful and exudes comfort. The fresh grouper was exceptional, showcasing the kitchen's skill. Unfortunately, the mussels fell short, being excessively salty and served lukewarm. The bartenders lacked flair, particularly in crafting a sophisticated Martini. Surprisingly, the wait staff could benefit from more training, an unexpected observation for a flagship Marriott hotel.
Amazing from beginning to end. The service was top tier and Laura was absolutely a delight. Exceeded my expectations. When I reserved a cabana I didn’t realize it was going to come with the extra attention to details. Scallops and risotto could have used a touch of a white wine reduction to add a non citrus sour ending. Pairing of the charcuterie cheese board was perfect. Gold flakes on the dessert was a great add!
The location and the view are picturesque. Ambience is quite relaxed and wavy. Live music was extremely entertaining. Make a reservation because the wait times are lengthy. There is a 2 hour limit to the tables. The food and the cocktails are pricey. The drink we ordered tasted great though. The hostess was amazing. Service i guess is dependent on who you get. Based on the other reviews that is what we were worried about. Our server at the bar was busy but he made great drinks.
I visited Anchor & Brine last night and enjoyed myself. I will say I was shocked that upon arrival the valet rate was $25 for the first 3 hours then $50 after, even though they advertise valet as "complimentary". I was told that rate reflected "event pricing" even though I wasn't there for an event. That interaction quickly changed my mind so once I retrieved my keys from the valet, I self parked right in front of the property for way less and checked in to my reservation. I was seated promptly and eventually moved to one of their fire pits that granted for the most beautiful view of the channel. I ordered the caesar salad with salmon, along with the spicy margarita, and nothing disappointed. I initially ordered a strawberry lemon drop and was told that the bar doesn't carry any fruit- forward purees or mixing options so I went with the marg. At the very beginning, it was made very clear that I was on a 2- hour limit. It caught me off guard but I understand business so I moved on to enjoy the view, weather, and beautiful tunes from the DJ!
Great food and wonderful outdoor seating. The smoked grouper dip was delicious and their burger was so tasty! There was live music on Saturday evening.
The drinks are great , o loved the smoke grouper but the lobster roll taste like plastic it was definitely imitation lobster
Great experience. My flatbread and very delicious and flavorful. Could be just a personal preference but the menu was a bit limiting. No other complaints.

This place was unimpressive. It was clearly understaffed - one waitress for about 15 tables. The seafood tower was not a tower at all. The crab claws were mushy. The grilled octopus came out cold, and the grouper on the salad was dry and flavorless. The octopus came on a delicious salad and probably would have been good if it hadn’t been sitting in the kitchen for 20 mins. The best food item was the rolls - which were basically Hawaiian rolls topped with butter and salt for $9. On top of that, the bathroom was a mess - expected much more from the JW Marriott. This place does have a very nice waterfront view and the live music was a nice added touch. Atmosphere is good - so I’d go for a drink at the bar but that’s about it.
I'll start this with saying how delicious our meal was! From the Grouper Dip to the Seafood Entrees. The flavor combinations were excellent and the ingredients were fresh and hot. The location and seating was comfortable, semi quite and views were peaceful and a nice addition to our evening. On the flip side, we felt that the service/staff were lacking. We made reservations a few days ahead that mentioned a special occasion which was a birthday! When we arrived the hostess was not very personable, there wasn't even a smile. After mentioning the reservation, there was a search for an open table and then we were seated. Our server was friendly to a point but very short in visits to the table and didn't quite give us a super welcoming experience. The establishment is Dog Friendly but make sure to bring your own water bowl! Parking for the restaurant was very difficult, which was expected being in down town. We ended up having to park at Sparkmans Wharf. A good 10 min walk from the restaurant. In all the food was super tasty, we were just bummed we didn't get to celebrate our birthday dinner to the fullest. We would definitely visit again in hopes of a better experience!

Food was decent, but there service was a nightmare. Don't bother eating here if youre hungry. Not very full when we went (2 people) and took over an hour for apps and drinks. Then the waiter asked if we were done ordering and he could being the check. We said "what about the main?" Him: "oh, well I guess can I take your order for that?"
It was a busy night at the Lighted Boat Parade but designating ONLY one bartender to the to-go counter was an incredibly poor decision. It took me 40 ish minutes to even get to order my drink with 2 people in front of me. People in the line behind me were leaving in droves due to the extended wait. The other 3 bartenders tending the people sitting down seemed to have little to no interest in helping out even as their tables/tabs were taken care of. Terrible experience overall and honestly not the first time. I’m fine with zero holiday drink offerings. However; this long wait with only 2 people in front of me is quite taxing. Please have your staff trained to help out the walk up counter especially when there is an extended line. Certainly not what I expected from a Marriott property as a Marriott loyalty member.
Such a disappointment. Location is great. The food horrible and horribly priced. The server did his best and the cold food could have been more on the food runner First the oysters are tiny. Not worth anything near $56 a dozen. Flavorless. The Manhattan Clam Chowder was good. The grilled octopus was cold. Not warm. COLD. They reheated the dish? WHAT? Yes. Reheated the same dish. Reason was “they ran out” so reheated. It was too obvious. The young woman who brought it out said they would take it off the bill. But she didn’t tell the server so he was surprised when I mentioned it. Just a horrible experience.
