I’ve been wanting to stop in and try their Fish & Chips for quite some time, and I finally got the chance to do so. I’m kind of upset I waited so long, because they were hands down the best Fish & Chips I’ve ever had! The Fish just melts in your mouth; it’s so light and flakey and delicious! The Chips were so good; they were cooked to perfection. My son had the Steak & Chips, and he loved it just as much as I loved the Fish & Chips! Service was just as good as the food! Our server (Ana?) was so sweet; she was so warm and friendly. I forgot to ask her about the Post Card that was clipped to the check, so before we left, I asked the gentleman up front (I think he was the Manager) if I was allowed to take it home with me. He said I was; he also said if I wanted to write on the back of it and send it to someone, they’d mail it out for me. I thought that was really nice! I didn’t do it this time, but I will definitely do it on my next visit. I’m already looking forward to going back. :)
Really great new venue, large, spacious & even though it was jam-packed (on a Wednesday) we had excellent service & food. We had ordered Guiness pints, Jameson neat, Sheppards Pie, Fish n Chips & warm Sticky Toffee Pudding.. it was all quite delish, however wished we had a scoop of vanilla ice cream... other than that.. very pleased & will return!
Such a great spot for brunch or lunch. The atmospher was very nice. They have an indoor outdoor area that I sat in. It was so pleasant as was the greeting when we came in. We had a reservation and were sat a few minutes after coming in. Our server got us water and drinks right away. I loved all the menu options. They offered brunch and lunch choices. I highly recommend the chicken Lillard and I tasted my husband's steak sandwich, which was very good! Everyone else was happy with their food and the waitress was very nice and and attentive. Well staffed because they were pretty busy. Oh, and they allow dogs. I'll definitely be bringing my Lil fur baby next time. It's going to be a regular spot for us.
Had a great meal on Saturday night! Our server Rita guided us through the menu and after taking her recommendations, they exceeded our expectations. The pricing is more than fair as it reflects the amount of care put into each dish and perfecting the balance of flavors, well worth it. Our favorite dish was the shepherd’s pie.
All I can say is what an absolute gem in South Tampa !! We had a business dinner here and everything was fantastic. Abby our server was spot on with fantastic service full of puns and great recommendations. They are 100% authentic so give them a try. PS : I suggest making reservations. Enjoy !!!
Mad Dogs is perfect!! The service was exceptional, the food was delicious and the decor is incredible. I loved visiting here and will be back again for sure. It’s worth a visit just to see the stunning interior. The portraits of the well know and not so well know Brits are on point. The food looks amazing and tastes as good as it looks. I’ve visited many British themed restaurants but the this has them all beat hands down.
My date and I dined last week at Mad Dogs!!! It was his first time and we sat with Abigail, such a great server and asset to the company!!! We sat near the tv’s in the main dining area and really enjoyed ambiance. We ordered the whipped feta for an appetizer, old fashion, the dame for cocktails, the fish and chips for entrees (my date copied me lol) and then he went crazy for the apple crumble and can’t stop talking about it! Everything was awesome and we will definitely be back soon, especially for that apple crumble :) Cheers!
I came here for dinner with a friend and had a great experience. I ordered the fish and chips (forgot to take a photo), and it genuinely reminded me of proper British fish and chips. The restaurant itself is charming, with the feel of an upscale British pub full of character. The drinks were amazing, and the staff was friendly, attentive, and very helpful. A lovely spot for a relaxed but elevated night out. Highly recommend!
I absolutely loved this place. Extremely clean, Staff was very nice, we went on a Sunday afternoon for lunch, it was busy and we had a short wait (10min). It was a tad loud in the "bar" area we were in but not to the point where you had to say "huh" a lot. I loved the food and will be back to take more pics to upload, I was enjoying myself so much I forgot to do my usual photo session. Cocktails were great, Food was Great, I would highly recommend this place to anyone. We will 100% be back and not just to take photos ;-) A+
Drove 1.5 hours to try this place, and it was AMAZING. The food tasted SO GOOD. We each had the shepherds pie, and then an order of fish and chips because another table ordered it and it looked so good. We finished off with dessert. So worth the drive and money.
I highly recommend Mad Dogs! The service is excellent, the food is fantastic, and the atmosphere has that perfect old-world pub charm with a modern twist. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu or from the bar—it’s all well done. I highly recommend the Reuben. I am particular about those types of sandwiches in this place delivers! The only minor note I’d mention is that while the shepherd’s pie was absolutely delicious, the portion felt a little small for the price. That said, the flavor more than made up for it, and I’d still order it again. Overall, a great spot worth visiting, whether you’re looking for a meal, a drink, or just a cozy place to relax.
I had a wonderful experience at Mad Dogs and Englishmen! From start to finish, the service was excellent—our server, Thomas G, was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out just right. The food and drinks were top-notch. The Fish & Chips were perfectly crispy and flavorful, easily one of the best I’ve had in Tampa. The cocktails were crafted with care—the Gingerberry was refreshing, the Woodford hit the spot, and the Old Fashion was a great classic. To finish, the Apple Crumble was warm, comforting, and the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, making it a great spot for both small groups and larger gatherings. With quality food, great drinks, and excellent service, I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!
In new location. Same great food. The Rueben sandwich was very large. The shepherd’s pie was great. The whipped feta with peta was fantastic. The cheesecake was so creamy and melted in your mouth. The apple strudel with ice cream-well I could have eaten 2. The restaurant an upscale version of an English pub with great food and service. The patio area has live music.
One of the pleasures of a great restaurant is that beyond the food, the atmosphere and decor. A transport you to another place. That’s how we felt when we had the opportunity to have brunch at Mad dogs in Englishman. Located in a newer building, they have all the trappings of a proper English pub. The entry is stone, and upon walking in you see a multitude of photos, paintings, album covers, and more that remind you of England. If you’re lucky enough to be here on a Sunday, expect to see F1 racing, and I’m certain that other times of the week they have proper English football. Take your time and wander through the inside area, and take in all of the photos and the stories behind them. One of my favorite pictures of all times located in the bar area, of Saint Paul’s Cathedral surviving a massive fire bombing ray during World War II. The brunch menu was small, but packed with flavor. My wife and I both enjoy the omelette and had some iced coffee. After all, it’s summer in Florida. The rest of the menu looks fantastic, and be sure to get here for proper Sunday roast. It looks like they had a nice selection of beers and other drinks. Staff is friendly and accommodating. They know how to treat a guest and make them feel welcome. Can’t wait to come back here in a few weeks.
Went to this place for the first time this past weekend and I’ll be returning. The Shepard’s pie, fish n chips and bangers and mash were amazing. Beers were cold and the atmosphere and decor are really cool.
Took our furbaby out for his 13th birthday. We were immediately seated outside. I didn't know why I chose Mad Dogs as we live in Brandon. It must have been the moon, universe, or whatever because I honestly believe the staff needed some Derby. Ile was so sweet to our birthday boy, and other staff came by for pets and to give birthday wishes. Derby enjoyed the ground beef and peas. Yes, there is a doggie menu. He even got a free pup cup from Chill Bros thanks to Ile and Mad Dog management! Derby loved it! Our food was wonderful, as were the drinks. We will definitely make the drive on a regular basis now. Thank you Mad Dog for making our furbabys birthday special! ❤️
Great spot, cool vibes, fun people. I’ve been for lunch, to watch soccer at the bar, and host big table of friends. All were handled well, service was kind and timely, and the food is delightful.
As a new resident in the neighborhood, I am beyond delighted by this local haunt! The hostess trio, and Rolando & Jeremy collectively manifested the best venue first-impression with impeccable, personalized service, and a scrumptious surprise dessert. The atmosphere and ambiance were amazing; and the food is top notch. The stuffed peppadews were peppadewlicious, and the steak and chips landed perfectly in temperature and taste. Thank you, and see you soon!
What a wonderful concept that is executed to perfection. The atmosphere of the restaurant alone transports you directly across The Pond. The food does not leave you disappointed either. We were really excited to eat and ordered way too many things but the highlights were the whipped feta and apple crumble. The whipped feta with naan was delectable, it was so smooth and creamy there was never enough. The shepherds pie was the winner for the entree, a comfort food that was elevated just enough. The apple crumble is the best dessert from a restaurant that I’ve had in 2025. I was already so full but ate the whole thing, ice cream added on top is a must. The sausage within the sausage roll tasted like average breakfast sausage and wasn’t that impressive. The chicken tikka masala wasn’t anything special, pretty bland, I’d save that for Indian restaurants. Everything we ordered came out piping hot, almost too hot, I had to wait 20 minutes to eat the shepherds pie without scalding the roof of my mouth. Mad Dogs gives a good representation of English food and I’ll definitely be back here.
My brother and I went here on a rainy Thursday afternoon. The really reminded me of an English pub, and the decor was super interesting! The staff was polite, patient, and informative when we mentioned it was our first time. The food was really good, but I would heavily recommend pairing with any type of alcohol. It's a bit salty (pub food, so duh) if you just drink water. Fish and chips were one of the best I've had! The fish was crispy outside with hot, flaky, and moist inside. They even had an option of malt vinger bottle at your table.
The brunch is amazing! All of their food options sound good and we’ve been able to try quite a few. So happy to have this restaurant in our neighborhood! Drinks are made very well. I’ve had mimosas, espresso martinis and even the skinny margarita they made me was so good! The omelet is one of my favorite items to order for brunch. We also like the Pub Club. It’s large so you can def share that. Also highly recommend making reservations because it can get busy.
Love, love love everything about this place. When you walk in you feel like you walked into the most inviting environment. Then the server even had an accent that adds to the atmosphere. The menu has so many options my favorites are the carrotcake tea, fish and chips, and many other favorites 😍 I am looking forward to try and go for Sunday dinner-pot roast 😋
We loved the new location. Had the same cozy feel of the original location but with an upgrade of more room and even more charm. I’m bummed I didn’t get more pics. The food was amazing!
Awesome vibes and great service Home-cooked food and at very reasonable price! Highly recommend! Fish and chips #1
Simply Smashing! Having lived in England for several years, I was pleasantly surprised by how well Mad Dogs and Englishman captures the spirit of the old country. The restaurant layout is spacious yet divided into distinct rooms, each reminiscent of the grand mansions of the English countryside. The decor is a seamless blend of antique charm and modern British touches, making you feel like you’ve stepped into a carefully curated homage to England. Every detail is thoughtfully considered, creating a truly unique ambiance. The food and service are exceptional. I tried the fish and chips, and it was simply perfect—a true nod to traditional British fare. Whether you’re planning a lunch, dinner, or a leisurely afternoon, I highly recommend this restaurant for its blend of modern flair and classic English heritage.
I recently ate at the NEW Mad Dogs and Englishmen. Here is what I thought. Atmosphere: The new Mad Dogs and Englishmen is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. I was absolutely stunned by the new restaurant. It feels like you walked into someone’s home and it’s been designed to be restaurant. It has a beautiful bar, outdoor eating space, a cozy reading room, and dining spaces. They did have a small outdoor seating space which was beautiful, but I didn’t see any easy way to allow your dogs into the outdoor space. I’m just curious if you’re allowed to bring your dogs, because the old location was pet friendly. Restrooms: They had 5 unisex single use bathrooms. They were nice and clean. They and some odd music playing in the restroom though. It sounded liked Queen Elizabeth giving a speech. Service: Our server Abby was very friendly. All the servers we encountered were friendly. The service was quick and professional. Food: The food was really good. I liked how they had a small menu, but they still had a variety of options to choose from. They stuck with traditional British meals but also included a few ethnic dishes, because if you go to England you can easily find a variety of cuisines there. I tried their ‘Midday Sun’ drink and it was really good, a perfect spring/summer drink. It was refreshing and light. We tried their ‘Whipped Feta’ small plate as an appetizer. I really loved it, it was the perfect amount to share between 3 people. The feta was sweet and spicy. For my entree, I ordered their ‘Mushroom & Leek Pie’ which was packed with flavor and I loved it. It was definitely on the heavier side for an entree. Everyone else enjoyed their meals at our table. We tried their ‘Apple Crumble’ with ice cream for dessert, it was good not my favorite though. I would’ve liked to see more traditional British desserts on the menu. Overall, the NEW Mad Dogs and Englishmen is a great spot for lunch or dinner. I’d love to see if they have a brunch or happy hour. It’s beautiful space inside and out! Instagram: @living.with.reg
The food was excellent, authentic British pub food upscaled with quality ingredients and perfect preparation. The restaurant is a collection of cozy rooms, casual, comfortable but still classy. There was live entertainment but it was low key. Overall an absolute must visit.
This was my first visit here. Love the atmosphere and the story behind the theme. We didn’t eat this visit just hung out. Had a great time getting to know the owner Rick and the bartenders. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming and I love how many people appeared to be regulars. I could also sense that the staff really appreciated and cared about the owner. I always appreciate a good leader which makes me want to support this establishment even more. You should definitely go.
What a fun lunch, much more than I expected. To start with, the ambience is very pub like, with mismatched furniture, tables in an alcove, it is such a fun vibe. First let’s get a few particulars out of the way - I would suggest that make reservations, it will just be easier. Second, parking is in a private lot next to the restaurant, so don’t fret too much about parking. But you want to hear about the food: Whipped Feta - creamy, almost like hummus, really delicious. Marinated Olives - good, but I was expecting a little more robust flavor. Probably will not order it next time. Caesar Salad - a thin seasoned chicken breast on the bottom, arugula and Parmesan and dressing delish brushed on. Steak Sandwich - shaved beef with a horseradish sauce that was fantastic. Shepherds Pie - think elevated shrphard’s pie, with a robust thin sauce and deliciously seasoned mash potatoes on top. Fish and Chips - our waitress told us they serve more fish and chips than Gordon Ramsey’s fish and chips location, which is a strong indicator of how good this dish is. One of the things that make it even more special is that you get to choose the type of fish they cook for you. When we were there it was Swai, Grouper and Cod. Toffee Pudding - we decided to try a dessert, this fell flat for me. It was like it did not know what it wanted to be. I think this is an excellent choice for a business lunch or when you want to impress someone (maybe a date).
This place was amazing!!! The food was absolutely incredible, and I was able to experience some dishes i have never come across before. Authentic English food and setting. According to our British grandmother we took with, it reminded her of home and that is important. The service is excellent ,, courtesy and well timed check-ins made the meal experience excellent with feel like we had little wait for anything. Price i thought was fair for the high quality of service and extremely high level of presentation of the food and the flavor. With two side dishes and 3 meals and 3 desserts for 3 people, the average was just less than 50.00 per person. Not cheap, but I promise you won't feel like you have overpaid for sure.
Wonderful experience! Such a well done space. Bravo to the designers of this restaurant because you did a phenomenal job! Staff were all very friendly and food was 5 out of 5.
Such a great atmosphere, especially during Christmastime. Food is heightened British food which is definitely some of the best British food I’ve had. Nice happening atmosphere and nice and prompt service.
After getting engaged in London we wanted to have the perfect place with friends and family to celebrate. Mad Dogs and Englishmen had just opened up their new location, and there was no doubt in our minds that we wanted to have it there. After talking with the staff and working out an arrangement we were so excited. Our dinner was held in the Moroccan room with stunning designed burgundy walls. Our guests also loved the atmosphere when they first saw it. They were taken back by just how beautiful, intimate and cozy the place felt. The real stars of the show were the staff. Vinnie worked with us up until the party to answer any questions and was so prompt in always having a solution for us. When we arrived multiple members of staff came out to help with anything we needed, including escorting guests, setup, calming nerves right before the party, the list goes on. I felt like I can never thank Vinnie enough, this man deserves awards on awards. With events, I truly believe it’s the details that matter. It was so nice to have a full team that valued that as well. We could not of had our vision for the dinner, or enjoyed ourselves with our guests nearly enough if it hadn’t been for the staff. Every single member of staff handled themselves so eloquently. The restaurant was so busy, but they made us feel like we were all that mattered. Our server Anya was prompt, professional and accommodating to the whole group. She also made sure that we always had a drink in our hands while mingling with guests. Now we have the perfect place to sit, drink and wedding plan. A new place for us in Tampa that will always hold such a special memory! Thank you Mad Dogs! We can’t wait to continue to watch you grow!
Great place, great food!! My old review was almost a year old, so it is time to update: We went for Gasparilla Brunch Buffet. The food was amazing! Plus it was very beautifully displayed. The chef kept checking on the food and refreshing it continuously. You can tell he is proud of what he does. My favorite was smoked salmon, filled peppadew peppers and fruit salad. Old review: Great place to grab lunch or drinks with friends. There is ample parking in the front. The restaurant offers various seating options for both intimate dining experience and for bigger groups. You can follow your favorite game on screens or just have a friendly chat. The staff was professional yet friendly. The menu had a lot of interesting choices. "Bangers and Mash" as well as Tikka Masala were delicious.
Went with a few friends from the UK with a reservation. We got their Sunday roast. My friends loved it and believed it was pretty legitimate representation of a pub roast on a Sunday. Sliced steak, super crispy potatoes, and flavored carrots with a Yorkshire pudding as well. While waiting on the roast we got the English rarebit, Scottish egg, and sausage roll which was awesome and washed it down with a London pride beer. The sticky toffee pudding was also pretty good. Place is clean and has a cool pub aesthetic. I will be going back for the breakfast at some point! If I had to complain about something, I’d say it might be a little pricy? Almost 40 for the roast is a little high but it was very good. They also have plenty of good options for less. The fish and chips, steak frites, burgers etc.
Comparing Mad Dogs with restaurants I've visited all over US, Europe, and Japan, easily 5 star. Great atmosphere, awesome food. Had drinks, appetizers, lunch/brunch and shared a dessert. $115 for two of us including tip. Our waitress, Ania, needs a 6-star rating. From her initial greeting to our goodbyes nothing but exceptional friendliness, attentiveness, professionalism. She's the kind of person that makes one feel lucky to have even just met her at a restaurant. She's an ideal example for the rest of humanity.
My workplace dined here to celebrate our hard work and dedication throughout the holidays. Food was great- our party had the shepherds pie, fish and chips, and I personally had the chicken pita. We loved the overall experience, ambiance, and playing trivia on Tuesday night! Staff was very accommodating for our large party and even opened a section up outdoors with heaters and our own server! Cocktails are delish as well! Thank you Mad Dogs!
Absolutely loved it here. I have been told by friends that so many restaurants in Tampa are great, but when I go they're just ok. This place was VERY GOOD. Possibly the best meal I've had in Tampa in the last 3 years. Highly recommend and make a reservation because it's popular.
Gorgeous restaurant. Nailed the English Pub feel other than being too well lit. 😀 Service was attentive and quick. Solid beer and cocktail selection. I had the Chicken Paillard. I will think about that dish for the rest of my life. Chicken, pounded thin and topped with the perfect mix of fresh arugula, shredded parm, toasted breadcrumbs and a lovely lemon vinaigrette.
Fantastic experience at Mad Dogs and Englishmen tonight. Upscale English food with a lovely establishment. There is indoor and outdoor seating, live music on Saturday nights from 6-9pm. We walked in and did not need a reservation, which is nice for this area. Sat immediately and had a great dining experience with Tom, our server. The portions are big and flavorful. I don’t think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. We will definitely be back!
Great place! Cozy pub vibes but elevated incredibly uniquely. Staff was very kind and attentive and food was top tier. Highly recommend stopping in for tea and the fish & chips!
Where to begin... we started with the sausage rolls and pretzel bites and they were tasty enough to be a meal by itself. We got the Rueban and the fish and chips and let me tell you how you know the fish is going to be good... the batter was a part of every bite, it wasn't too thick or over cooked.... that RARELY happens that you can get both. So let me tell you why I gave them five stars... service: impeccable... very attentive didn't have to ask for anything, they just appeared when they noticed we were low on beverages. Food: see above.. atmosphere: it feels like an English pub and theres so much cool stuff to look at... do yourself a favor and just walk around the dining rooms... so yeah I can see why they're on Michelin's list of must tries... you wont be disappointed.
We’ve been to Mad Dogs & Englishman twice — once for lunch and once for brunch — and while the food was good, it didn’t quite exceed our expectations. We’ve tried the Benedict, English breakfast, tikka masala, and fish and chips. All were decent, but a bit underwhelming for a place listed in the Michelin Guide. The interior is charming and has a lot of character, but every time we’ve visited, it’s been incredibly loud — to the point where we couldn’t hear the person sitting right next to us. The atmosphere makes it hard to enjoy your company, and the food feels a little overpriced for what it is. Overall, cute spot, but not somewhere we’re rushing back to.
Came here for a weekend brunch. The food was good. we had the Benedict, avocado toast, and my favorite: the whipped feta cheese appetizer. Portions are very large. Service was wonderful. It is a large restaurant with a bunch of different seating areas with different decor. It was very loud inside and parking is very limited.
Stunning ambiance and design—10/10. The space is beautifully curated and spacious, but the food doesn’t match the setting. The fried fish is excellent with a sizable portion but please give us more tartar sauce (runs out after one piece of fish). The chips/fries lack seasoning (5/10). The Shepherd’s Pie is mostly potatoes with very little meat and a watery base (5/10). Fair pricing, but the food needs improvement to reach its full potential. The service was great. To be fair - this place went from a “hole in the wall,” to a swanky restaurant. Maybe we need to give them some time? We’ve been here twice. Same opinion each time. Multiple dishes.
The food was good and the Pub/Restaurant beautifully created. Definitely reminded me of a classy pub in England.
I recently dined at Mad Dogs & Englishmen with my family, and we absolutely loved it! The service was friendly and attentive, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. It’s very family-friendly too — they even had highchairs for the baby, which made things so convenient. And I have to mention the Snakebite drink — I loved it! Overall, a great experience and we can’t wait to come back.
Great spot. Loved the vibe, the decor. Service was nice. Cocktails were decent nothing too special. Got fish cakes for appetizers. Was really good. Ordered fish & chips. Thought it could’ve been better. I’ve had better fish & chips at other places. Felt it was a bit too oily & the crush was not crisp/ crinkly at all. Was expecting more from fish & chips!
This restaurant is very nice and well decorated. The food is very good but the portion size of my steak was way to small. Plan on buying dessert if you don't want to leave hungry. I definitely expected more food for the price. Had the portions been larger my rating would be 5 stars.
I will start off with the food was on point. Did not disappoint. Service on the other hand not great. Felt like we were a burden and it wasn't busy. This is not a place to celebrate....came for my birthday and just felt unwelcome. No happy birthday....did not honor happy hour prices so even though they advertise a happy hour menu they don't do happy hour. I'll just order to go if I go again since staff really didn't want us there. Prices weren't bad though and food was amazing!
