This is one of my favorite tonkotsu in the entire LA area. So sad the one in Little Tokyo area near Downtown closed. I love the noodle itself. It tastes really fresh. The tonkotsu broth itself is very refined. I will go either way middle flavor and extra firm noodles. The middle flavor is just ok. Not too intense. The shoyu I tried. Middle flavor is going to taste too salty. I’ll go one notch down. Always order kaedama here. Really one of the best tasting noodles. $15 for ramen is why I come here. Most reasonably priced ramen with authentic taste.

The fish broth ramen was really good. The noodles were perfectly firm. The spicy miso soup was rich and tasty. The bamboo shoots tasted good; usually it's a mess sometimes at other restaurants. The egg had a good flavor.

Hakata Ikkousha always has a bit of a wait on the weekend for a reason - it’s really good! The ramen dishes are entirely customizable, yet somehow comes out consistently each time, whether you’re visiting the location in Torrance, Costa Mesa, or Little Tokyo. The quality control is high here. I always get the Godfire Ramen, level 4, light taste, soft or normal noodles, and it comes out perfectly each time. This is one of the best ramen I’ve ever had. Spice and flavor are amazing. Highly recommended.

Hakata Ikkousha is one of the staple ramen places in Torrance and one that I love a lot. I really love the ramen and the broth as well. However, this ramen is super heavy, though. The broth is really strong and not super clean like other ramen, so if you like stronger more oily broths, this would be the place to go. Really good karrage as well.

Hakata Ikkousha ramen is most likely the best ramen place I have eaten in the United States, having a variety of choices of soups and noodles and an abundant amount of customization. I always love getting their God fire ramen/Black Devil at level 4 spicy since it gives a delicious hot kick, if you do not like spicy though I seriously recommend their black garlic as it is a unique and slightly sweet ramen (I'll try to take a photo next time) that allows you to take a break from eating only tonkatsu. You can also choose the richness of your soup, firmness of your noodles, and how much spring onion you get (I will have a photo of the menu soon). They have a lunch combo that is really affordable ($18-$19) that offers a small side (the one I got was the curry katsu) and a ramen bowl! I also usually get their premium toppings providing a runny, savory, and creamy egg, plus four pieces of lean chashu (WHICH I LOVEEE!!!). Overall, Hakata Ikkousha ramen is a ramen place that I cannot describe it's greatness with merely some words, I will always come here when I am ever craving a undoubtedly delicious bowl of ramen!

A friend that’s a local brought me to this great spot! Happy she did. I love ramen and happy I now know this gem. Located in of course Torrance the best place to get great authentic Japanese food. I went with the main ramen and was delicious. Also the dumplings were the best. Smaller and friend perfectly.

Always wanted to try this spot, however last two previous visits were extremely packed. We came here around 4:30 pm on Saturday, and it was light and we were able to get served expediently. Karage Chicken & Gyoza for appetizers then a bowl of their Black Garlic Ramen. Wow! What amazing flavor in the soup. Their service was excellent and friendly, we will be back for more. Another fine spot for Ramen. *Soft lighting photos were taken late October 2020 during pandemic times. The outside dining was quite pleasant and so much more room. Both service and quality of their cuisine has actually boosted up since the first visit here. I'd give um 10 ⭐s for continued excellence.*

Tried their black tonkotsu, traditional tonkotsu, tonkotsu mentai, and karaage chicken. The chicken pieces are very large, served extremely hot out of the frier and very crispy. The ramens were good, but not amazing. Tonkostu mentai is very heavy on the garlic, the tonkotsu broth was light in the flavor for me. The pork ain't as good as I would ve liked and very thin. Feels a bit like a thickish cut of ham. Not much toppings included in base prices, egg is extra, adding their topping packages makes it quite pricey. Service was pretty quick everytime I ve been. Place was full but never had to wait for a table.

Tried this ramen shop out since I was in the area and seen good reviews. Located in a shopping mall in Torrance, ample parking in front. Went here for a late lunch, they had lunch special sets so tried their popular Black Tonkotsu ramen set with fried rice. You cqn customize your ramen by filling out the form before you order, so I added an egg and extra charsiu pork. Ramen came out quickly, noticed that the charsiu pork slices are rather thin than I am usually accustomed to.... But they ramen was good, broth very thick and tasty. Fried rice was expected. Price was on point for what was ordered.... A generous 4 stars🤙

The broth has a lot of options for spicy lovers - I had the half and half with the black broth and the red, with spicy level 2. It was delicious but pretty much at my limit. Toppings and noodles were OK.

First ramen place I've been to on my visit to LA, and it was worth it! I got the God Fire Ramen with 'Light' flavored broth and medium spicy. The spice level was a bit less than expected, I could have gone a level higher. But the broth was the star, as it should be! It was delicious and the first time I finished the broth before the noodles/toppings. Highly recommend! This place is busy, especially on the weekends. But fortunately they use Yelp table reservations, so you can reserve a table before you leave home and have a table ready once you arrive if you plan it right 😁

Got the black devil spice level 2. It was decent. Good flavor but lacking in the depth department. Chashu-don tasted weird. Too much ginger? I appreciated the effort but this bowl of ramen was a good reminder of why I don’t eat ramen in the U.S.

Got the spicy miso tonkotsu ramen 3/5 and tonkotsu 4/5, along with gyoza 2/5 (mushy). Normal texture ramen was more chewy than expected so can't imagine ordering hard. Ramen came with 1 piece of charsiu so recommend getting the added on for another piece of pork and boiled egg.
