Philly's Best in Torrance is a popular spot for cheesesteaks, with many reviewers praising the quality and generous portions. The chicken cheesesteak and the original Philly cheesesteak are frequently mentioned as favorites. Some reviewers note that the prices are a bit high, and some find the meat lacking flavor.

Tip: Try the cheesesteaks with provolone. Some reviewers suggest that the quality is worth the slightly higher price compared to nearby sandwich shops.

One of the best cheesesteaks I've had in a long time and I'm from Philly. Super, soft roll, excellent, creamy cheese meld. I could've eaten two . . . but I didn't. :)
This was my first time here and they have really good food. I would highly recommend anyone to try it out at least once
Good food
Amazing food and service authentic Philly cheesesteaks!!
My favorite Philly place! I always get the chicken with cheese and onions. My husband likes to add malt vinegar to the fries.
It's a no-frills cheesesteak and hoagie shop. You want a cheesesteak, you come here. You want a hoagie, you come here. You don't, you don't. Easy. The Philadelphia brands for chips and soda are a nice touch too.
Best really love it and I'm well satisfied with the food. Thanks for being amazing.
So nice!!!!! It wasn't busy when we went, but the customer service was great and I enjoyed the food if I find myself in the area again it's definitely on the list.
One of my go to spot for Philly cheese steak and hoagie. I usually get the Philly cheese steak with onions and peppers with whizz or provolone cheese. Their hoagie is also good, for those who don't know it's like an Italian sandwich. They just call it hoagie in Philly.
Got the classic cheesesteak. So good!!! The place wasn't crowded but the service and food were great.
Price reflects the fresh ingredients from the rolls to the veggies. One sandwich is more than enough to share. The sandwiches fill the baskets. Philly's Best Hoagie was great cheesesteak With grilled onions and mushrooms. They load the fresh lettuce and tomatoes on their Italian Hoagie. The deli meats were wonderful. Also don't miss the kosher dill pickles!
The staff is always friendly.
It’s about the location, location, location. Amazing spot. For regulars and tourists alike. In-in-out on the right; park on the left. Plenty of parking; the usual wait. ( if you are not familiar; a 15 min wait for food is normal) Take your time and relax watching the planes fly in. You may just see a celebrity.
Go and try the best cheesecakes in town the service is nice and welcoming very pleasant
Best Philly n menu...pricey...clean, no 100 bills taken ...still no RR, most opt for face diapers...I didn't.. traditional Phillycheese is awesome...my daughter likes same but with pepperoni...no inside seating yet, staff cut, owners were wondering it...some of the best fries around
Being from NJ my whole life made it almost impossible to find a good cheese steak in CA until I recently discovered Phillys Best. Almost better then home! And Tastykakes for dessert!!
Food is always fresh and top notch. Service is excellent. Have had good experiences at Philly's Best. Reason I am a repeat customer. 😃😎🤙👍
Came upon this place while out on some errands. It ended up making for a pretty great lunch! The sandwiches were filling and the service was quick.
I scoffed at my friend for ordering a chicken salad at a Cheesesteak shop. Until I tasted it. The salad was just as awesome as my Cheesesteak Sandwich. And the bottled sodas, oh yeah! Great food. Great service. And reasonably priced. I think I might be an Eagles fan now...
First time here - down the street from Torrance Memorial hospital. This was a great spot for sandwiches. Ordered the Philly's Best which is their original Philly cheese steak sandwich with sautéed onions & peppers. Great flavors, super loaded with meat, cheese & veggies. Also had the pizza fries & onion rings. Food was delicious.
The menu was good! Ordered 5 different subs! Favorite was the mushroom w/ steak and the italian!! Really good! Me and my family ate too fast ,so no pics lol!
It was my first time eating here, as soon as I walked in I was welcomed by the friendly staff. Ordered a pepperoni cheesestake which was delicious.

Pastrami sandwich was wonderful. hubby's chicken cheesesteak was also delicious. Hispanic man who took order and cooked food was very helpful.
Oh my God I am from Bethlehem PA this is the closest to home as I am going to get little restaurant in Allentown called the brass rail has incredible cheese 🧀 stakes but for CA Phillys best takes the twinkey. Lol best cheese stakes I have found keep up the good work 👏 🙌 👍 👌 😋 thank you
Great staff, great service, great food! The best Philly cheesesteak I’ve had in California!! Every time I’ve visited this location, the staff are always very polite and professional. The food is also prepared well and never disappoints.
Philly was soooo much better compared to subway or jersey mikes. My girl got the meatball and also delish.
The cheesesteaks are nice and big and juicy. The roll (bun?) was nice and soft, very fresh. My hubby's a bit of a foodie and this is his South Bay pick for Philly cheesesteaks.
Everything was good bit the bells and onions needs to chopped up more.

If you have the time to wait only do one order at a time, one of the better cheese steak sandwiches but no one can make a great philly like pat's or Mike's in philly
Nice Philadelphia themed atmosphere, good cheesesteak, sweet peppers, and fries. My go to cheesesteak restaurant in Torrance.
Me and the wifey were out shopping and wanted to get some dinner to take home. We were intentionally going to L&L BBQ however saw Philly's Best Cheesteaks Sandwiches and wanted to give them a try instead. I'll have to say that everything that we ordered was quite delicious and on point. I enjoy a good Philly Cheesteak samich and Philly's Best delivers. I didn't get the gentleman's name (Asian male) however he was inviting, informative, friendly, and professional. Me and the wifey will definitely be back for more items on the menu. Restaurant was clean, organized, and superb service.

Found out about this place recently. I have gone here twice over the past few weeks. This place is located right next to a Subway and is priced at a few dollars higher. However, I think the few dollars are worth the quality. They are generous with their meat portion and the bread tastes fresh. This is a good and affordable place for anyone looking to eat Philly cheesesteaks in Torrance.
People may automatically go with a Cheese Steak here, but guys, give their sub sandwiches a try. For $7 I think they beat anything you can get a Jersey Mike's or JJ's. The Italian is an awesome sub and they do not skimp on the meat. For the Cheese Steak's I always get mine with Provolone and it's awesome. Sometimes will get the Pepperoni steak instead of the standard when I'm feeling like being a fatty. I deducted one star for the fries. I honestly don't like them at all and go for the potato chips instead.

This is a pretty decent sandwich, I go there when I don't have time to go to my regular places. Not a heck of a lot of meat but ok for the price. Onions are cut pretty big, I prefer them a bit smaller unless they're cooked more.
Just ok cheese steaks. Bread is good, but couldn't enjoy it as much as I would have liked since the steak was just okay. For those of us who called Philadelphia home, they have Frank's soda and Tastykakes. But Amoroso rolls aren't enough to keep me coming back.
Stopped in the Torrance Crossroads location for lunch today. Service was excellent. I had a classic Cheesesteak with onions. The bread was great, the flavor of meat, cheese, onions was great. For $15+ tax for a sandwich and a fountain drink it was a terrible value. I would say for a foot long sandwich there was less than a 1/4 pound of meat. The talk is all about how its just like in Philly, well that is not the case if the meat is not overflowing. I won't pay that kind of money and then need a snack later today.
Not bad Philly Cheese steak. The bread is good and soft but holds up to the meat. They offer different kinds of cheese to appeal to what kind of sandwich you're looking for. One of the main dislikes of the experience was the grilled onions. They were grilled but not with the meat per usual, they were just left off to the side of the grill and then placed on top, so they were cold. The portion size was good though and it looked well assembled which was enjoyable.
I'm from Philly, so I know what an authentic cheese steak should taste like. I drove 14 miles. My sandwich was kinda skimpy. The little meat that I got on it just wasn't flavorful. I got more mushrooms & onions than meat, but I was happy that it was served on the original Italian Ammorosa rolls.

Service was prompt and friendly. The food was prepared fresh on the spot. Sadly, the beef on the Steak and Mushrooms I ordered tasted greasy and just not quite right. Not delicious, not Phylli's best. The potato chips were just as bad, making the whole lunch not worth the money I paid for.
I have been getting Philliy s best for many years since the first one in fountain Valley. They opened one in Downey and also torrance but the food has gotten less and less and prices up .. the wait at the one in torrance is long and when you call ahead it don't do any good I went 20 minutes later and they started my order when I asked about it .. when I said I called it in 20 minutes ago they said well we just started our shift so I don't know what you did ..I just don't go as much as I used too anymore but the food is still good they just cut back on the amount and raised the prices ..
Phillys best got my order wrong. I noticed once I got home that my wife and I had ordered tuna and they gave us cheesesteak. I called and the girl wanted to argue about her not seeing a ticket for cheesesteak. She really didn’t understand that the mistake happened when I said tuna not a mistake on the ticket in price. I tried explaining to her and over and over again and she just kept repeating herself like a broken record. I then asked her if she can make tuna sandwiches so when I come down they will be ready and she told me she couldn’t do that until she saw my receipt. Once I got down there they couldn’t even find the ticket order that she wrote me up for for the order. Now there was a line in the store and I’m trying to explain myself over and over again until I finally said,” just give me my money back.” It was a 45 min ordeal that I won’t have to experience again because I won’t be going back. Telephone order to L and L and picked up my food in two minutes after leaving Philly’s Best. L and L is obviously the place to eat not Phillies best. Then I let them know that they didn’t even apologize for the mistake for the inconvenience of me driving down there driving home driving back I’m driving back home again. Pain in the butt going to that place
Ok let me just start by saying the food is ok, my issue is someone needs to teach the cooks proper portioning & how to make a proper Philly. As chef myself I can tell you proper portioning brings all the flavor together. I went in today & order a chicken philly with bell beepers & onions. & all I tasted was the bell peppers & onions. Let me explain, when making a philly the onion & bell pepper should be thin to medium slice or dice. My sandwich had large chunks . You’re also supposed to incorporate everything evenly so that when you bite into it it doesn’t taste just like one specific ingredient. All my bell peppers & onions were at the bottom of the Philly which basically makes the hole Philly taste like bell peppers & onions. Not to mention when making a “chicken Philly” you should always use less bell peppers & onions cause they will over power the natural flavor of the chicken. Long story short the manager needs to properly train his cooks or find some that know how to properly make a Philly cause it the best point “Philly’s Best” taste like californias worst. To the manager or owner, if you see this review I’d be more than happy to come train your cooks on proper portioning & how to make a tasty Philly. You can tell by the photo I posted that this Philly is basically onions & bell & considering the price I paid for this Philly, I basically got ripped off. Probably shouldn’t have let a tip

Chicken under cooked some pieces spongy like rubber…should be thin sliced like the beef to make sure it’s cooked thru and thru
Avoid at all cost. Grilled onions weren't even grilled. Some of them were cold. The proper way to make a Philly cheese steak is to cut up the steak and grill it with the onions and toast bread on the side, lay the cheese over the meat and onions and put the bread on top of that then flip it over. NOT slap the meat on the bread and fill the other half with canned mushrooms cold onions and sweet peppers. Worse sandwich I've ever had. Sent back my order and they returned it worse. I gtfoot as quickly as possible. Do NOT eat here if you're from Philly and looking for a cheese steak. One star because they had Positive wise potato chips and tastykakes, a Philly favorite.
It was hubby’s idea to check out Philly’s Best. I’m not a Philly cheese steak fan, so I wasn’t excited about it. There was no greeting when we entered, and there were these handmade written signs throughout the place. “Uber pick up,” “Do not throw away trays,” etc.. they just took away from the professionalism of the restaurant. Hubby went ahead and ordered his Philly, and I went with a burger and fries since I’m not a fan of Philly. It was actually not bad. Good tasting burger and fries. Hubby seemed to have enjoyed his sandwich as well. What really grossed me out tho was the soda fountain. While getting a soda, I noticed how gross and disgusting it was. Not only just the drain but even the top of the fountain. It immediately was a turnoff, and I decided not to even get a soda. They need to do a better job at cleaning. Three people were working that day, two girls and a guy who looked like he was either the manager or owner. One could’ve walked around to clean the fountain and even the tables. Cleanliness is crucial for me, and for that, we will not be coming back. It makes me question their cleanliness for the rest of the restaurant.
More like Phillys WORST. Coming back from Philly on a business trip and searching for an Authentic Cheesesteak back home in LA. Jeez... I dont even know where to begin.... Service was quick and friendly, that's about it. The Amoroso Roll was fresh which was very surprising. The meat didnt have any seasoning, the onions were cut way too large and not grilled long enough. The Wiz... was... atrocious.... If you're looking for an Authentic Cheesesteak save your time and money. Order from Jim's Cheesesteaks in South Philly and pay for the shipping. It's the best way to get the real deal!

I got the Philly best and clearly it wasn’t. Tasteless meat, canned mushrooms big chunky precooked onion pieces and jalapeños. No fresh ingredients on this $10 sandwich anywhere. Maybe the real cooks are off today. First and last visit.
