Testo's is a complete homerun. Their Veal Parm is probably the best in the area. Their tomato sauce is just like mom used to make. Highly recommended!!

This place hasn't changed in years. The food is still awesome. Service is good. The only thing is it is outdated inside but as long as the food is excellent I can overlook that.

Really great neighborhood Italian Restaurant and pizza place. I've eaten here dozens of times and always have a great meal. Service is always good too. Sausage and pepper sandwiches are great!

Testo's is a Lansingburgh gem. Serving me and my neighbors for over 43 years. The original owners have past on. But their children have continued to offer the great service tought them by their parents. Family values shine.

Love Testo's, and never get it often enough. The pizza is always top notch, the service is great, and it has that really nice feel to it, the Old Italian family restaurant feel.

Food was excellent, served very hot, excellent service. Arrived at 4:00 p.m., almost empty, started to fill about 5:00 p.m. 4 full dinners plus large pizza and drinks, $ 103.00 plus tip. Very happy with both food and service.

Stopped in here for dinner a few nights ago. Nice classical little Italian restaurant. The food was fantastic, portions were great, the service was friendly and attentive, and the prices about average for an Italian restaurant. Highly recommend, definitely will be returning.

Really good prices. I didn't get to try their whole menu yet but I was told to try their chicken tenders in buffalo wing sauce. I have tried these at other places and they come out soggy so I was in fear of trying another place. Boy was I wrong, they were the best. Although they could use more spice.

Love the chicken parmigiana dinner and the meatballs. The sauce is very yummy and you don't even need a knife to cut through the chicken. Wish they were open on Sunday's!

I visited on January 10th in the evening for the first time with family. The food was wonderful and the waiter was the most professional and kind waiter I have ever had the pleasure of finding in a restaurant. Excellent. I will be back and recommend this restaurant to others! Outstanding !

An excellent value. Portions not too big nor too small. I judge a restaurant by how their veal is. The veal in the parm was nicely done, juicy not heavily breaded or overly cooked. Angel hair at no extra charge. Unlike some places. Also a simple salad is included in the price of entree.

Great local food and sauce. Their gnocchi special on Saturday is my favorite. The pizza is good but the lasagna is better. The catering is at very reasonable prices while the portions are generous, too. Online ordering works like a charm, but they've recently reopened their cozy dining room. Service was prompt and friendly, with ample parking. Testo's is a real small town treasure not to be missed.

Small family owned restaurant. They have the best food! This is the only restaurant that I will get meatballs at. Everything I have ever tried is fantastic but my favorites are Pasta Fagioli, Baked Cavatelli, Meatball Parm, and I would drink their sauce with a straw if I could. It's that delicious!

B
Bob Keyes

I love this place. I'm a spaghetti and meatball kinda guy and Testo's meatballs are perfect. Their sausage is also great but I need to go easy on the pork.

M

This was a takeout visit. The food was amazing as always. I am a picky sauce person and their's is wonderful. I always sop up every last bit with some of their bread! Meat lasagna was fabulous and MIL loved the eggplant parm dinner. Only negative was very slow service on a long line night. They need younger or healthier people at the counter to be able to hustle and move people through.

Amazing pizza, entrees and one of THE BEST pasta sauces ever! The server we had was very kind, professional and he went out of his way to cater to our toddler. Five stars all around! Don't mind the location - the food inside is too grand to pass up!

Went to dinner last night at Testo’s and even thou there was only one waitress Janice was very accommodating and did a great job seeing they were kind of busy for a Monday night. She did a great job, wings and pizza were excellent. Appreciate the good job.

Went for a late afternoon lunch. The place is very reminiscent of the great Italian restaurants I had the pleasure of knowing thanks to my parents taking me along for great dinners in my childhood. The waiter, Kevin was professional, polite and attentive. I ordered Cheese Lasagna and was pleasantly surprised at how authentically and excellent it was from the perfectly cooked noodles, tasty filling and incredible sauce. Side salad was nicely arranged and sufficient in its presentation. I will definitely be back with friends and family!

Okay...there are no ratings for Testo's that adequately represent the food and the service. The food is great. The service is great. The portions are good enough for you to loosen the belt just before the drive home. We have not had Italian food at ANY restaurant in the Capital District that compares. We ate here often...more than we should but who can stop? So, we moved. Not good for business but great for the gut! :-) In all seriousness, we moved for other reasons but we really miss going to Testo's. We sometimes say, "Let's get Testo's!" But our hatred for driving 787 in Cohoes always wins!

Testo's is my family's favorite little Italian place to go to. No matter what time of year, it always delivers with high quality food. I love the chicken parm and have also gotten a white pizza with broccoli many times here. If you haven't gone, you should consider going soon!

This is my go to restaurant for delicious Italian food, whether it be pizza or linguine with clam sauce or scallops or spaghetti and meatballs. The food is simply delicious and it doesn’t very either, it’s always good. Even their pizza is delicious and the service is really friendly and responsive Well done Testo’s!

I called at noon for an 8 cut specialty pizza to be picked up. The expected wait was less than 30 minutes. Once inside I chose a tossed salad with the house dressing as well. The pizza was hot, and the toppings were plentiful. I got the Chucks special (white pizza with sausage and onions) and asked for the addition of roasted red peppers. The salad was fresh and the dressing was a perfect blend. The 2 slices of bread that accompany it will be nice for breakfast toast. Normally I just order the Gino salad alone and the bread is a great addition to it. I make an impromptu tomato, onion and pepperoni sandwich, with a drizzle of the dressing of course! (It's the yummiest part in my opinion) The young man who took my order over the phone and checked me out at the register was very pleasant. There was no waiting for my order, and between the time that I picked it up and drove away, three more people were in and out with take out orders. 03/19/24 I repeated this order and was just as happy that I did! Under 30 minutes from call to pick up. Thank you!

Testo’s turns 50 this year and let me tell you, it still holds up! I grew up on Testo’s and I am very pleased it’s still the same! Let’s face it, it sucks eating out these days! Quality goes in the toilet, while the price goes through the roof! But Testo’s remains just as good for a reasonable price. We decided to go there tonight, they were packed, and they were only open for another hour. Most restaurants would have sent us away…. Not Testo’s! Kevin found us a table, and then ASKED if we ok with it, or did we want to wait for something else! I couldn’t believe it, he wanted our approval! We took the table it was 100% fine. When our server came to take our order, she was smiling, very sweet as always. If she was stressed or over whelmed from the busy evening, you couldn’t tell. We had a great meal, excellent service, and we were 100% satisfied. Thank you Kevin and the Testo’s team for always being consistently amazing!

We had an incredibly nice experience at Testo’s on our first time visit. Recommended by the folks at the nearby Troy Boat Club marina, we walked over for dinner. Lisa greeted us like we were regulars and seated us at a nice table in the middle of all the action. We arrived fairly early for dinner at about 6pm and the dining room was already about 2/3 full. She guided us through the menu and wine order, and even dropped some complimentary meatballs on the table with our salad and bread first course. The red sauce is sublime. Home made meatballs and sweet Italian sausage are some of the best I’ve had. The eggplant Parmesan and meat lasagne are out of the world. I can see why this spot is a local icon. We will be back for pizza and their “torpedo” sandwiches! Highly recommend.

Arrive early to beat the crowds. Lisa is our favorite waitress, she sees us arriving and has our drinks on the table shortly after we sit. Being regulars we usually eat the same meals too. Linguini & white clam sauce, veal & peppers over pasta. Garlic white pizza with ricotta cheese & sliced tomatoes. Ziti Alfredo with shrimp & broccoli. (Are our favorites).

Arriving at Testo's on a Thursday night comes with finding parking, be prepared to drive around the block trying to locate an open space as the restaurant is nestled in a residential district and its own parking is quite limited. Once you have found your spot and you're inside, you might need a wait a bit before a table is ready. On my particular visit my party of four waited up to 10 minutes before being seated, not a bad wait in any sense of the word but it can become crowded as the 'waiting area' is rather sparse. Now comes the fun part, the food and the service. Both you should find very acceptable if not above average, as the food and the service were both warm and fulfilling. Our waitress checked on us multiples times while were were waiting for our main orders, and she was nice enough to inform us that there are no free refills. (This is a bit disappointing, but not a game changer.) She was friendly, professional, and she handled quite a few tables with ease. She also answered any questions we had, and came back with progress reports on how our meals were being prepared. As for the food, well, I had ordered the Veal Parmesan with a side of Capellini in Alfredo sauce. A classic Italian staple, something I use to grade many Italian restaurants. The Veal was excellently pan fried and just the right diameter for ease of cutting, the marinara sauce pared perfectly however there was just a tad too much melted mozzarella. The Capellini in Alfredo, because they did not have fettuccine noodles, was also quite good. While I had mostly filled up on the Veal, the Capellini wrapped around my fork with ease and the Alfredo sauce clung to the noodles with a thick viscosity only seen when the sauce is prepared correctly. I was a tad bit disappointed that there were so few desserts, but what they did have was Italian in nature so take the good with the bad. While they did have staples like Tiramisu, Spumoni, and Cannolis, I would have liked to have seen some more adventurous Italian desserts like Struffoli, Cassata, and Affogato for those looking for that Coffee based dessert. Overall Testo's is a great choice for a small family outing on the look for an Italian restaurant, the atmosphere is respectable but not arrogant, so bring your kids if you want but you might want to leave the babies with the babysitter.

The food was very good, but there weren't enough servers. My dinner was supposed to come with a salad, but it never came.

M

First time ordering from here, order a eight slice pizza half cheese half pepperoni, one order of chicken fingers and an order of fries. Food got here hot and in time. Tenders were good and so were the fries. I wasn’t expecting a square pizza but by my surprise the pizza was thin which I loved. The sauce was awesome however, I was a little disappointed that even though they charged me full price for the pepperoni, the pieces were very small and I only got six pieces. Other than that I will recommend this place!,

S
Sean Young

A cozy italian restaurant with family sized portions. I've been here 4 times, and the food is consistently good. It's well worth the trip if you're near Troy! Just be mindful of peak dinner hours like 4-6pm, as there may be a wait.

Was looking forward to going back to Testo’s with the news of opening there dining room We ordered the pizza and an antipasto salad both excellent pizza order crispy as order was delicious My only complaint was their pasta fagioli soup, tasted great but a small cup priced at $ 10.25. I ask the waitress is that correct went to the kitchen spoke to Jim believe owner response was yes cause it’s not a soup. Pasta fagioli is a soup per the definition on there recipe I do not mind paying but at $ 10.25 it’s highly overpriced. Hopefully Jim will adjust the price or in my opinion there will be more complaints. per description from there menu Pasta Fagioli....................................................... bowl of ditilini pasta & beans in a soupy red sauce with garlic bread

J
John Doe

(Note: Strictly rating the pizza) 7.7/10. Overall, good quality solid pizza. Well cooked and tasty. The dough is thick and fluffy with a lot of flop, so if that's your thing, great! However if you prefer thin and crispy NY style this is not your place. Anyway, the sauce to cheese ratio was good, although I felt the flavor left something to be desired. I found myself reaching for the red pepper and oregano to add to the natural flavor of the cheese and sauce. So for that reason I don't think the pizza reaches into the eights, but it's still among the better pizza available in the area and I will order it again.

S
S

To start off, the pizza is out-of-this-world good. Hands-down in the top 3 of the best I've had in upstate NY. In regards to the restaurant itself, I highly recommend the owner do some renovation. When was the last time anything was done? 1978? Paint, get some new furniture, brighten it up - do *something*. It cheapens the dining experience.

They have some pretty amazing food.the Chicken Parmesan is Top Notch! They also have a great lasagna except 1 time it didn't have barely any sauce so I'm guessing a different cook maybe but it still wasn't to bad.If ur having a big dinner like a graduation party or a wedding I highly recommend them for catering service!my family had a 50th birthday party for 1 of my aunt's and they were the catering service and boy did everyone like their food.we had meatballs, pasta salad, chicken Parm, veterinarian lasagna(5 stars) and some wings and other stuff.the salad and bread was very fresh and I don't even want to get into how wonderful the cake and other desserts were.i couldn't stop eating!

My family used to go to Papa's Corner Restaurant in Watervliet, but since they closed we've been on the lookout for a new Italian restaurant. My wife and I decided to scout out Testo's, and we were pleased. Tasty food, good sauce, very reasonable prices. I only have a couple small complaints. The coffee was a bit weak, and they don't take reservations. I think we'll be coming back with the rest of my family!

S

Testo's is a good little Italian restaurant. It has all the classics. The menu is small but enough, it's not overwhelming like some Italian restaurant's. The sauce is good which makes all the dishes good. I lived down the street from Testo's for years. My wife and I ordered almost weekly. We moved out to the middle of the woods for 3 years and didn't get out here much, but when we did we noticed the prices seemed to have went up a few dollars here and there. We finally moved back to civilization a few towns over, so we decided to meet at the restaurant with some family. Edit: I realized the prices are a few dollars more eating in the restaurant rather than taking out. My other family members felt the portion sizes had gotten smaller than they remmebered. Now knowing the prices are more dining in, I won't be eating in the restaurant much anymore. Sorry.

Food was excellent. Service wasn't the best. Our waitress brought us the wrong salad and wasn't very apologetic. Though I also don't kno if she could hear very well. When we were done eating we waited over 10 minutes and then I asked a busser to find her for us. She never checked back to see how the food was or asking we needed anything. We aren't local so we won't be back but definitely couldnuse improvement on that aspect. Food was terrific though.

Testos was one of my favorite pizza joints. That is until they reduced portion size, added a delivery fee and started to skimp on the toppings. Pizza got drier due to skimping on the sauce too. And a significant price increase over other local pizza places for the same items. If I ever order again I'm afraid I will be forced to cut down on the tip to compensate. Hate to do it but the prices are just too high now.

The food was good But..the place is dirty. I MEAN DIRTY. IF YOU GO THERE YOUR BRAVE. CHECK OUT THE CEILING GROSS YOU RIGHT OUT. OUR BREAD DISHES WERE EVEN DIRTY. THE PLACE NEEDS A WHOLE REHAB BADLY. PLEASE TESTOS DO SOMETHING TO CLEAN THAT PLACE AND GET A NEW DISH WASHER!

I usually get their pizza & Tiramisu & it never disappoints. Baked ziti is a big disappointment. It's noodles & sauce with a tiny bit of melted mozz on top, it really needs some ricotta to make it worth the price. I got the meal with a salad & bread. The salad was not edible, had some expired peppers in it & that's all I could taste.

Called in an order for pickup later in the day. When I went to pickup they first said they didn't have my order and then they found it and said I called back and changed the pick up time to 1/2 hour later. They did give me 10 percent off and the pizza was very good. The order of meatballs was average and the wings not so good.

Ate at testo's for the first time last night. Overall things were pretty good with the exception of the shrimp scampi I ordered. The moment they brought it out and sat it in front of me, everybody at the table recoiled from the smell. It was obvious that the shrimp was not good. Not only that, but the pasta was dry without a hint of garlic, butter, wine or salt and pepper for that matter. Whoever cooked that should have known better. Anyway, I sent the scampi back and ordered the lasagna which was absolutely delicious.

J

The food was alright, Italian dressing on the salad was superb, the Raspberry chocolate cheesecake was bland and missing raspberry flavor. Not being from the area, parking was small and limited, also was not mentioned that it was take out/delivery only until 4pm.

Good but not exceptional food. Prices are reasonable. A local restaurant for the locals. A small plate salad came with the entree along with plenty of fresh sliced Italian bread. The day's special was penne in vodka sauce with mushrooms and chicken. Sauce saw very good, pasta done just right, mushrooms were caned button type and chicken was cubed and sparse. The portions were generous enough for leftovers.

Was passing through Troy and found this place on Yelp. Inside decor was like going back into the 70s/80s. Service was ok but food was dismal. Chicken parmigiana was dry and was under seasoned. Pizza and mozzarella sticks were nothing to write about.

The veal tasted like freezer smothered in tomato sauce and the chicken palm was not good. The service was good and that is the only reason I didn't leave 1 star but the food sucked, I should have got the pizza

Worst Italian food I’ve ever had, at least that’s a win for them. The chicken parm was soggy, not crispy at all. The eggplant was soggy and slimey. The lasagna was dried out with little sauce or meat. I am shocked the reviews were 4.6 Last time solely I trust a rating. I will never eat there again, nor would I suggest it to a friend. The chicken wings were good so 2 stars for the wings.

K
Kherri Rose

We ordered take away, my boyfriend got the Friday special penne à la vodka with chicken, and I ordered the Clams linguine and a side of meatballs. Both dishes were very bland, couldn’t even be saved by using salt and pepper. We were very disappointed after seeing 4 1/2 out of five stars for reviews. It was a great portions for both meals but no flavor! The meatballs were the only good dish from that night. Both entrees severely lacked flavor. I was very disappointed because it seems to be a local Troy institution. Maybe the experience is different when sitting in house, we would like to try them again and hopefully have a different outlook!

A
Amanda C

I don’t know when they raised their prices but $14.50 for a spaghetti dinner (no meatballs/sausage included) is overpriced. It’s nothing special—spaghetti, sauce, and a very small side salad. Then to add on (2) meatballs or sausage another $5.00. Not sure we will be back as often with their new menu prices.

Christopher Vera
Christopher Vera

I heard this place was the best for their chicken parmigiana….well I’m sorry to say and I’ve eaten at plenty of Italian places, it was not great at all. The breading was soggy, didn’t have any flavor, smelled like it was frozen. Myself and my wife forced ourselves to eat being so hungry and only ate half of the two pieces there. The pasta was good and cooked throughly.

R
Rexford Lord

I give this a 1 because lower is not an option. For 2 consecutive weeks we order a pizza and boneless wings for delivery. Besides taking 1 and 1/2 hrs for a 3 mile delivery both times the pizza was warm at best and poorly cut. Hot boneless wings have no sauce on them. Second pizza we Called to see what the works was and was told sausage pepperoni onion mushrooms peppers and anchovies and sure enough the pizza had not been cut into 12 pieces good thing we have our own cutter and missing the anchovies! When called about the problem they offered to remake the pizza but would be another 1.5 hours to get it. I don't understand how you make a pizza on the menu wrong and how they don't have cutters that can cut the pizza all the way through. Needless to say all our future orders will go to Pizza Hut where it's faster and made and cut correctly.

J
John Malenkiewicz

If I could mark it as zero stars I would. I will never order from Testo's in Wynantskill again. My pizza was 45 minutes late and when I called the manager was extremely rude would not listen to me and then when I tried to say something he hung up on me. Its a shame the one in North Troy is so good and now they have lost our business. The manager should learn customer service. The driver even agreed the ticket showed the pizza was over 45 minutes late.

Food is bland. No seasoning. Employees are rude. Managers have lack of communication and are ignorant. Absolutely do not recommend service to any other person who eats here. Business and floors are always dirty.

Extremely rude when I simply called to ask about getting a piece of cheesecake with a candle in it for a friend on her Birthday, the young woman that answered did nothing wrong, she left the on the counter without hanging up and went back to ask the Kitchen or management. They belittled her and I heard the whole thing about how they don’t take reservations and don’t do birthdays and cakes. Wow, I told her I wasn’t calling about a reservation and been there for years I know that already, I simple wanted to bring a candle in and buy a piece of cheesecake there and light the candle. Men on phone jumpers all over her and made her sound stupid and the customer, me who heard everything. I hung up because I was ready to drive over there find out who was yelling at her. Jerks, won’t be going back, EVER!

I would give this place zero stars if I could. The pizza was okay--good if you want it super greasy. It was cooked well, but the pieces were massive. The fries were no where near crispy (which we asked for)---they looked like they were dropped into a fryer for 5 seconds. Both of those issues were not a deal-breaker, however. That food was salvageable--grease can be removed, pieces can be cut smaller, and even the fries weren't terrible once we reheated them in the toaster oven (though still no where near crispy). The issue is the eggplant rollatini---or should I say HAM and eggplant rollatini. I am a VEGETARIAN. Absolutely NO WHERE on the menu does it say that this dish has MEAT in it. Eggplant rollatini does not have meat in it regularly---that's the point! I have not eaten meat in nearly 20 years. Thank you for ruining that for me by not properly describing your dishes on your menu. IF YOU ARE A VEGETARIAN, DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!!!!

For a neighborhood family restaurant, the server running the dining room has no apparent concern for earning new business. We arrived at 8:25 with the advertised closing time of nine o'clock to the lone server yelling at us that the dining room was CLOSED, "all you can do is grab stuff to go". A large table hurriedly grabbing their coats gave him a nastly look as one lady told us "they really rush you right out of here". I had left work early, and for a Thursday night with no back up plan it was crappy to drive twenty minutes into North Troy to be turned away. Now, if the kitchen was still able to cook, and all we were planning on was a quick dinner for two, they must not need to money. For a classic restaurant this tops the list on the worst service I have witnessed. I gained my entry in the food service industry at the age of 10, working in a much larger Italian restaurant at the age of 14, and never leaving the industry. I currently run a restaurant. I'd never allow a staff member, family, owner, or other to treat a single opportunity for business in this manner. I'm not fussy. Since they apparently don't need my money, I won't be back.

This place is terrible. 1st off its americanized Italian and the sauce on the ziti I ordered was pasty and chalky. 2nd the pizza tasted like cardboard. Not sure how they make their dough but it seems they def went the cheap way out. I would not recommend this place.

2025: a total crash and burn .....I'm not sure what happened to this restaurant. I've been going here for many years between 2012 and 2023 and the sauce iwas to die for but went there in January 2025 and the meatballs were not homemade and lasagna was very poor as well. The sauce that they made their reputation on was been substituted for with some kind of possibly canned version.... terrible experience I guess we'll take this place off our list and never go back. 2023 review: Great neighborhood place known for its in-house homemade sauce. Very nice people. Excellent baked ziti.

We usually love the food here. Tonight was the worst meal we have ever gotten there. The mild boneless wings were so hot I could not even eat one. We did not get the salad with our ziti dinner and pizza must have been dropped because the cheese and pepperoni from one side were flipped over on the other side. Very upset and disappointed.

Sat in the restaurant for 45 minutes drinking water and eating bread. Finally, the food comes out. It's cold absolutely horrible. Shame on the chef for sending out cold food to someone that's been sitting there all that time and have the nerve to charge me for it yes I did take it Home to heat it up, but that was the purpose of going out to dinner. You don't have to cook at home. I personally will never go back there again. I've been there twice. I'm done.

Ordered the chicken parmesan from here for $20 and it was a Hair Parmesan instead it was nothing but a dry chicken patty, hair tangled underneath the patty, cheese, pasta, sauce, I thought I chewing a piece of stringy cheese but it was hair, it wasn't mine. As I looked through I could see more hair. I didn't bring it back because I didn't want them to do something more to the food cause people do that, come on do you not wear hair nets or whatever. $20 I would expect a hairless meal. Sad.

The spaghetti was disgustingly mushy. Dinner was ruined for all of us. We won't be returning.

They use chicken patty meat for the chicken parm now. It used to be real chicken. Sad to see places fall off and use frozen chicken parm cutlets. Mechanically separated meat is for chicken nuggets not chicken parm
