Gerald and Maya have created an excellent and bold concept here, the open kitchen makes you feel like your invited over to your friends and gives the place such a homey feel, you can watch Gerald create some excellent dishes that also exude the same home-made feel in the best way possible but always with a creative twist an culinary ingenuity. On top of this you will surely also have some great conversations with the two. They are excellent hosts and passionate about this beautiful bistro they’ve created in the heart of la veleta.

Walking in to LOCAL seems familiar, like you’re entering a friend’s house for a dinner party. Intimate setting for the perfect date or a small gathering with friends. The smell from the open kitchen lingers outside and into the beautiful patio. The menu is short and concise, perfect for ordering one of each and sharing. Our first visit we stayed with the vegetable options which were all fresh and bright, not over thought, making us want to order one more of each. The owners are clearly lovers of food and wine and its translates in every bite and sip. We can’t wait to make this gem a weekly favorite. Thank you for giving us what Tulum was missing!

They have the best selection of natural wines at incredibly reasonable prices. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a charming French touch that makes you feel right at home. The music is always on point.Whether you’re with friends or just enjoying a quiet evening solo—which I often do this place is a vibe.
