Chuck's tacos is one of the delicious places to eat at Chuck's Tacos, located in Upland, California, was originally known as Los Monitos Tacos. Established in 1936 in Ontario by Chuck Alonso's father, the restaurant was later bought by Bernie Diaz in 1994, who continued the Los Monitos name before it eventually became known as Chuck's Tacos. I remember the place of a hole Street brings back lots of memories
Love this place. Best Mexican hot dog ive ever had and it hit my cravings perfectly. Food didnt take too long and the thing that sold me on it was someone coming in with fresh ingredients. Will definitely be back.
We always enjoy a visit to Chucks!! Everything is so yummy, especially their breakfast burritos!
Manny the owner was great... food fresh and hot 🔥 restaurant is extremely clean. Great spot for food and good value. The sour cream is real... no fake crap
The chicken soft tacos were delicious. Same for the grilled fish soft tacos. My wife reports the cheese enchilada plate was tasty as well. We'll be returning.
Chucks Tacos, Chucks Tacos, Chucks Tacos. What can I say? We ate here a really long time ago and we just rediscovered Chucks. The food was really good, portions are big, and the service was good. We ordered a wet chicken burrito, carne asada burrito, and a breakfast burrito. We all agreed it was very satisfying and delicious. I give Chucks a 5 out of 5.
Good food and really good service. Food was fresh and tasty. The shrimp tacos were really good. Also asada and salsa were good too. Hot dogs are big and very tasty too. Will be back. Forgot the jalapeno poppers last time. They are wrapped in bacon 🥓 sorry no pic. They didnt last long enough. Crispy bacon. So good.
I can't believe all these bad reviews. I've had the tacos. I really like the LA Street dog. So very tasty and a good quality dog cooked well
Chuck Taco’s has a lot of history in the Ontario area. We stopped by for lunch. In my opinion, they are among the best in hard-shell tacos. I ordered a number 11 that came with two hard-shell tacos. I got mine with ground beef. It came with beans and rice. We also ordered a number nine which comes with two enchiladas beans and rice. I also ordered a street hotdog or a loaded hotdog that came with fries and a drink, This was “to go” for later and it was delicious. They have indoor dining with plenty of chairs and tables sit down and enjoy your meal. The chairs are comfortable. The service is friendly and courteous, and we’ve received our meal in no time. This establishment has been around for over 70 years it was called Los Monitos for those of you who remember. There’s plenty of parking with the handicap stalls close by the front entrance. 6-17-2024 Update: Stopped by for dinner and ordered a shrimp cocktail , fish taco, and a combination plate of hardshell ground beef taco, enchilada, rice and beans, these dishes were good and tasteful made just right, actually pretty close to homemade cooking.
Today we stopped Chuck’s tacos for we were working five minutes away first time being there we are two beef tacos. They weren’t bad, but with all extra ingredients, cabbage, tomato and cheese they were cold till today I can’t figure out why is it so hard to make a corn quesadilla? We try to order one, but they said it couldn’t be done. We also got a Carne Asada burrito. It was much better than the tacos.
I never leave reviews but this place deserves it. The food is totally horrible and expensive. Flavorless tacos, reheated tortillas, canned chilli. But good service.
I’ve been reading so much about Chuck’s tacos and people’s reviews. I thought well. I’m in that little shopping center every week picking up cookies from the bakery just down the way from Chuck’s Taco, I told my girlfriend we really have to try Chuck’s tacos they say Chuck’s has the best hardshell tacos. Well, we were extremely disappointed in Chuck’s tacos. We went for taco Tuesday. We got a couple shredded beef tacos and one chicken taco and some beans and rice on the side and the price was great. It was like $17 for the both of us, but we couldn’t even bite into the taco! It was so hard, greasy and it almost tasted stale. It had very lil meat and no flavor. All we could taste was the tomatoes, cheese and the salsa we put on it. We had to scrape the insides out because we couldn’t even bite through the taco shells. I’m thinking that when they prep in the morning, they fry up a bunch of taco shells, (which they use very thick corn tortillas). Then they put them aside till someone orders a taco, they then throw the taco shell into the hot oil to heat it up and then they stuff it. So sorry Chuck that we have to give you a really bad review. The the young gentleman at the counter was very very pleasant and very helpful But we won’t be going back to Chuck’s tacos.
This review is directed at ownership and management, because what we experienced reflects a breakdown in training, accountability, and supervision. Our order was incorrect multiple times. When we contacted the restaurant about tacos arriving without salsa, the response over the phone was dismissive, argumentative, and unprofessional. Instead of resolving the issue, the staff member blamed DoorDash and claimed they “can’t read minds,” turning a simple correction into a prolonged dispute. Notably, the entire conflict existed only over the phone. When I physically returned the tacos, there was no disagreement in person—just a quiet handoff. That contrast raises concerns about how customer interactions are being handled when management is not present or conversations are not face‑to‑face. While I understand salsa may not be automatic policy, a taco served without salsa is an incomplete item by reasonable food service standards, similar to fries without ketchup or a salad without dressing. The refusal to acknowledge this gap—and the defensive tone used instead—suggests a lack of clear service standards and insufficient staff guidance. There was no apology, no ownership of the mistake, and no effort to retain a customer. This appears less like a single bad interaction and more like a management issue that owners should be aware of. I strongly encourage ownership to review how orders, phone interactions, and customer concerns are being handled, because this experience reflects poorly on the business as a whole. Management is welcome to respond publicly and clarify how these situations are supposed to be handled going forward.
Ate the hamburger special. It was special alright. The meat was terrible and tasted like they cooked it in a microwave and it made us sick. It was worse than elementary school cafeteria burgers. Yuk.
0/10 wouldn’t recommend. I ordered Taquitos (15 of them) and rice and beans on the side. Got home to serve dinner and you couldn’t even bite into them. They were way too hard. Called in and the cashier said they couldn’t do anything because I already (tried) to bite into one. Ridiculous. $50 down the drain. Never again.
Burritos are small dry meat more tortilla than meat and the asada fries dry no guacamole fries stale and no flavor I will continue going to Alberto's on mountain and I Street guacamole juicy meat everything is bomb. If I can give a BIG 0 that's what I rate chucks tacos nasty food I ever ate
They got our order wrong and refused to admit that they heard the order wrong. I've been coming here for years and I have never once ordered carnitas (my husband doesn't eat pork) I always order carne asada or chicken, nothing else. They replaced my husband's Burrito but not before being really rude to him and never apologizing for the mistake.
Burnt food! I’ve tried this place 3 times to give them the benefit of doubt. But they still disappoint. They are stingy with their salsas and they burn the food often! I ordered bacon wrapped jalapeños today and it is completely burned where I had to throw it away! So disappointing. Will not eat here again. Don’t waste your money.
Oh my friends when I tell you that the food here was sad believe me im not lying.a poor excuse of a taco also soggy enchiladas ridiculous. Taco bell put more meat in there tacos then this place and there was no flavor at all.Two tacos and two enchiladas came out to $18. I would have went back and asked for a refund but being on a limited lunch in couldn't. I will not be coming back
