We waited longer than usual for our food, about 20 minutes for starters and 40 for the main course. The sides we ordered, which were the fried pickle spears and the shrimp cocktail, were small in comparison to what you get in other restaurants, but they made up for it in quality and taste. For the main course we chose the 6oz tenderloin filet and the 8oz top sirloin, both cooked medium rare. The steaks were a tiny bit overcooked, somewhere between medium and medium rare but both were delicious and worth the 40 minute wait. The meat quality was excellent and the seasoning was very good too.

My wife and I were visiting Van Horn and ate here two nights in a row it was so good. We loved the little filet that was tender and juicy and priced at $22 was way below where we live in Florida. It comes with two different sides which were also excellent. We also had a great Caesar salad. The place is very clean and service is friendly and efficient. You won't be disappointed.

This was my first time in Van Horn. We were very hungry. This place seemed inviting and it was. The ladies here were very friendly. They were laughing and having a good time. The server took our orders and we got them fairly quick. My steak was done perfectly (medium). The mashed potatoes were awesome ( with lumps). The corn was nice and sweet. If ever I am in Van Horn again, I am definitely coming here again.

Really good food and service: our server gave her recommendations and they did not disappoint. Flat iron steak was tender and tasty, garlic mashed potatoes were amazing. Salmon with lemon sauce was on point and the jalepeno popper dip was excellent! This was probably our top meal so far on our trip! Definitely recommend!

Not bad . I think could be better. But overall wasn't bad. friendly service friendly and family atmosphere. Steak was good. Mac and cheese. Idk 🤷‍♂️. Mashed potatoes were good. Gravy needs salt pepper some seasoning.

Everything was great except the table service. We were given one basket of bread, which was 2 dinner rolls. We had not eaten all day and got the side eye when we asked for more bread. We were given 1 more roll. *There was 2 of us at the table. I was willing to pay for extra bread if that was the issue. Usually, when you ask for more bread, you get another basket of bread. The waitress came by our table twice with the pitcher of tea and refilled cups for the other 2 tables. My daughter placed her empty cup at the end of the table and the waitress dismissed it? until my daughter started slurping from the empty cup really loud...intentionally. The restaurant was not busy and only 3 tables were occupied at the time. I am sure this is not the standard but it was our first time there and got the wrong impression.

Ordered Take-out. Staff on phone and in person are confused about the menu. Not surprising as on-line sides are stated as included and then A La Carte w/prices. Upon pick up some sides were up charged, after asking they were adjusted to included. However the Steaks were way below average and poor for the price. Lots of connective tissue/grissle that was unedible. Sides were good-will not return for $40 tough meat.

Maybe an off night? Sunday night Jan 18. Service was super slow. My husband ordered a rib eye and he said it was no better than eating one at Bonanza. He had the rib eye, Mac cheese which was watery, beans which were good, sweet tea and 1 beer. I had a side salad and mashed potatoes with water. No bread offered. 45 minute wait. After tip, it was 77 dollars. I feel price was over the top. Rib eye was market price but wherever they are buying their meat, they or we are getting ripped off. The bartender was good she made an excellent lemon drop martini which we paid for separately from the meal.

I have mixed emotions about our first experience here. While the presentation was decent, the meal took almost 45 minutes to receive after ordering. Our steaks were undercooked. Both were blue rare which doesn't bother me usually but we both ordered flat iron steaks. Not cooking them to 130 guaranteed a tough steak. The steaks were both under seasoned severely again a big issue on flat iron steaks. The mash potatoes were very good however as were the green beans. My girlfriend had asparagus which was overcooked and she felt may have been to mask they were seemingly going bad. The cheese cake we had for desert was ok but over priced. With an around 17% tip our bill was a few cents shy of $100. I don't mind paying even more if the meal was god and I frequently do. This was not...I am not sure if the rating was from people in the rating not knowing what a good place is with few places to choose from or if we caught it on an off night. I have hoped it was an off night for the steak chef. The glass of wine seemed as if the bottle had been opened far too long. I am also guessing they don't serve very much. The waiter was attentive and nice but there was a kid running through the place at one point screaming. The atmosphere was relaxed and they recommended chicken fried chicken ect. Maybe higher end isn't there forte which isn't a problem but know that going in. I think based solely on this experience it's around a 1.5 to 2 stars at best. From reading other reviews this may be about par for them. The good reviews may just never have eaten from a nicer location.
