Great classic diner. Menu is very extensive and has something for everyone. Also love their healthy menu options which are difficult to find in diners. Prices are a bit expensive but the portions are very large so I often share a single plate. Definitely recommend!
I chose this place to have breakfast while my car was being serviced nearby. It was so delicious! Service was friendly and efficient. Many police officers came in to eat all throughout the time I was there, and you know they know the good places. The regular coffee was great. I just had the basic breakfast combo of eggs, bacon, sausage and potatoes. The 2 pancakes were huge. I almost finished and I wasn't hungry until dinner time. I will return with the family. If you're in the area or can get there, I highly recommend!
The food is always delicious, the ambience is lovely, and the service is excellent! Jade was so sweet and went above and beyond to serve me and my family! She was attentive and kind! If you’re looking for a great place to eat and feel comfortable, the Toasted Bun is the place to go!
JADE IS ICONIC!!!!!! Such fantastic customer service…. We decided to do a last minute Bday celebration on Sunday just after church! FOOD WAS PERFECTION… KUDOS to the cooks Luis and Jamie ! GERMAN you anre so kind!! appreciate you! Great recommendation Jeni a true sister in the Lord!
Food was delicious, and even when there was a need to make the hash crispier, it was done with no hesitation. Melanie was such a super service. Great attitude and went out of her way to make our visit great.
Tried this place on a Thursday around 11am. We walked in & there wasn’t to many people in there which is nice when u want to talk to the people ur with. We were greeted right away by Francisco. He was polite, professional & nice. We ordered & food was ready within 6-8 minutes which was awesome. But the #1 reason I’ll go back to this restaurant…the toast came when the meal did.😉
The food is amazing here. Very friendly staff. I have standing plans with a friend to come here and try a new plate every 2 weeks. Have yet to find something average. It's all amazing
This place is great. Hard to find a good breakfast spot in the heart of The Valley. Their staff is friendly. The food is delicious plus they got 80s music playing in the background.
Came here because of a recommendation of a coworker, honestly the best service and food I’ve had. The place gave me an old school diner vibe but modernized. The service was exceptional and very attentive. Food was delicious, my girlfriend and her mom very much enjoyed the food and experience as well. I would highly recommend this place.
Beautiful diner 🍽, beautiful staff ❤️, lovely tasty breakfast. 😋 I visited this restaurant just 30mins ago. I hope everyone is paid and treated well here. I really wanted a good meal this December morning during the holiday season. This is my first time eating a meal from a restaurant this year and I'm very satisfied with what I recieved.. Thank you all a lot. P.s. The French toast was legit French toast. 👌 😄
Now this is a remarkable find. The Toasted Bun has been around since 1963 in Glendale, which is a part of town I rarely go to. They recently took over the old Denny's at Van Nuys and Sherman Way, and let's just say it's a quantum leap beyond Denny's. I had a "salmon burger" which was actually a perfectly cooked skinless salmon filet on a brioche bun with tomato, onion, and arugula. (!) The cole slaw on the side was lovely. My dining companions had a bacon and cheese omelette and their "California burger" (with cole slaw on the burger, interesting choice) respectively. Both were amazed by the quality and value of their meals. I snitched a couple of fries from my boyfriend's plate, and while not remarkable, they were actually made from sliced potatoes rather than extruded mashed potato product. All in all, a terrific deal on excellent food. And their menu is very broad and deep. We'll be exploring more of it soon.
My goodness. And here I thought I'd never have a nice diner spot by the house to enjoy again. Then here comes the Toasted Bun! First off, from the start the atmosphere is inviting. Cozy lighting, vibrant music and engaging staff set the stage for your tastebuds. Seeing as it was my first time here, I had to try their breakfast. I had their Chilaquiles, and Corn Pancakes. Our server was amazing, she was on it. She seemed nervous, but it made her speedy and efficient service that more adorable and amazing! Then the food came. The chilaquiles had the right amount of spice and flavor. But the star of the show, was their specialty, the corn pancakes. Unfortunately, i can't remember much. Once the airy starch hit my tongue, I knocked out, only to awaken to an empty plate. Only hints of heavenly sweetness and savory butter lingered. I'll try to bring some smelling salts with me next time so i can review their enchiladas and burgers...😅
So first things first, their hours aren't posted because they're following something similar to Hawaiian Style Business times. Open when they want to, and close when they feel like it/are understaffed. But the food is really good. The quality is similar to honestly cooking, to where there's love in the craft. The Chicken Alfredo was creamy, and pretty meaty. The vegetable soup was clean and refreshing. The eggs were fluffy. And the pancakes still had its bounce even after absorbing the syrup.
This place has a great selection of breakfasts to choose from. Girlfriend had their scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes which was really good. They added cheese that topped it off perfectly. I had biscuits and gravy that was really good. Served with bacon that was amazing along with a couple over easy eggs. A really good meal for a good price.
Located just off the corner of Van Nuys and Sherman Way this place is great for a quick breakfast. The waiters are extremely friendly and patient. The location is clean and has plenty of parking. The food came out quick and was good. I ordered the French Toast platter and a cappuccino which was great!
The Toasted Bun Yesterday, my wife and I decided that we were going to take my son out to eat for breakfast or brunch. This morning, we began to try to figure out where, so it was either go to where we know we like the food or try something new. After looking over the menu for The Toasted Bun, a place that we have wanted to try, we decided to try something new. Narrowing down a choice off their extensive menu was a little rough since there were so many items that just jumped out at me. Our server Gladis was visibly busy but still attentive and friendly. She was backed up by the busboy who also made sure that I didn’t run out of coffee. My son went with The Works Burger with only lettuce and mushrooms. My wife went with the Apple Cinnamon Waffles and a side of Breakfast Potatoes. I was torn at first because I saw they had Biscuits and Gravy, one of my all time favorite dishes. However, I ended up going with the Steak and Eggs, rare with three sunny side up eggs and Breakfast Potatoes. I also ordered a stack of Corn Pancakes because I had to try them. Everything was great! The Corn Pancakes reminded me of the best part of a corn dog. Thank you Gladis and The Toasted Bun, I am positive that we will be back.
Chilaquiles Verdes with Carne asada, Cinnamon crusted French toast & a cappuccino. Also went back and got the Chipotle Omelet & Grandola Crusted French toast. The chilaquiles were delicious, smelled and tasted great, really good flavor and everything was cooked well, the chips were still crunchy and the potatoes were crunchy and soft. The cinnamon crusted French toast was delicious, big chubby pieces of bread slightly crunchy on the outside filled with hot Nutella and bananas, with whipped cream and syrup on top. Cappuccino was tasty. Prices are fair and the portions were big enough to share (if you don't eat alot). Staff was pleasant and the place is really cute. It's located in a plaza with plenty of parking. Definitely somewhere you can go many times to try new dishes.
I came here to shoot for a TV program and met the two owners who are brothers. The management here cares about all the little details; from the ingredients being used, to the cleanliness of the floor in their kitchens, to the presentation of their fabulous dishes. I enjoyed their mascarpone French toast the most. I started off taking a bite of an innocent little corner on a dish that had already been eaten. But it was so good that I ended up ignoring the germaphobe in me and I ate the whole thing. Yes, it was that good. Like slap yo momma good. Stop on by and support a small business that does really good food, the right way. They make all of their stuff in-house and it definitely tastes like it.
Food came out very quickly. Staff was nice and food was good. Vegetarian and vegan options.
Me and my girlfriend had an amazing experience here. We had the French toast, ribs, and asada nachos. Service was amazing. Food was great, ribs were a tad dry tho but the parts that weren't were delicious, and nachos smacked.
Food is always really good, excellent service, employees are always so nice/friendly, our go to breakfast place 🫶🏽 And their music choice is top notch, always feels like I'm at a little party or friendly gathering!
First time at this diner as recommended by Eat around Town by Marriott. Earned 8x points per dollar. The French toast came highly recommended and it was delicious 😋. My hubby enjoyed his Special omelet as well. It has bacon, mushrooms and plenty of fresh bell peppers.
Came here for a solo breakfast. Got the Toasted Bun Omelette. It was the best diner ommelette I've had in a decade. Great service too. They were playing Star Wars Episode 1 while I ate which is always a plus. Will definitely be coming back here.
Just ordered food for my first time and it was phenomenal. I will be going back tomorrow morning for breakfast. The bacon was great, but the breakfast potatoes stole the show. I ordered the mascarpone French toast, which was also phenomenal, the breakfast quesadilla was enormous and delicious with what seemed like homemade guacamole, and salsa. Kudos and shout out to the chefs. Hope you guys are around forever. Excuse the pictures I forgot to take them because I just had to dig in because it smelled out of this world.
Delicious! First time trying Toasted Bun, the name alone caught my eye. Walked in in morning, greeted right away taken to our table , host was very nice. Menu has so many options, love that! Ordered off the “Healthy breakfast menu” which also caught my eye. Helps me avoid looking at ingredients throughout the whole menu. Ordered the Power Scramble;which is scrambled egg whites, mushrooms, peppers, and some other stuff. Portion was more than enough, tasted delicious. Left filling full and without the uncomfortable omg I ate too much filling! Will definitely come back to try the rest of the menu!

Nice place. Great and friendly service. They have a few vegan options. Usually skeptical of places with just a couple options but what I had (vegan scramble) waa delicious and it is obvious it was created with a lot of care and thought.
While no one is perfect, my family and I really like this place. The food selection is great, even the healthy options are tasty. We had some family visiting from Mexico and they had asked is to take them to eat some pancakes and this was an obvious choice. The staff are great always smiling and very polite. I enjoy breakfast all the time that I eat here.
I had been wanting to try this spit that replaced the local Deny's. So glad I did! I took my granddaughter for breakfast. Since it has an indoor and outdoor we took the option to eat outside. It was a beautiful morning. Once we were set up I took note of a few positive things. The interior was remodeled a very clean feel and appearance. Simple peaceful decor. A very nice upgrade. The staff seemed on their toes and pleasant. It took a bit long to get our order taken but the man who took our drink request was totally on point and had a very nice demeanour. He brought our request right away and the same when I asked for something additionally. The server that took our order got it out fast and absolutely perfectly with every detail we asked for we asked for done correctly. She also had an absolutely positive attitude and was helpful. The food was perfect and delicious. My granddaughter kept saying such a yummy meal email it was truly perfect. Another thing that I have to command the entire staff on they were 2 gentlemen with a boom Box who sat at 1 of their tables. It was pretty clear they had no intention of ordering but 3 different staff members came out periodically and asked them if there was anything they could get them they said they were waiting for another person but the entire time I was there no one showed up. These staff members continue to be helpful and polite. They did not ask them to remove themselves and quite honestly they weren't bothering anybody Or overly loud. A tough situation in today's times and it was handled extremely well. Treating people with dignity and not judgment was a very important example of the way people and businesses should try to be. I highly recommend this place for all the reasons above and will be returning myself as it is a local watering hole. For all the people that think they miss Denny's check this place out it is a refreshing replacement. If anybody from the establishment reads this there is one big thing that needs attention the woman's bathroom it smells pretty bad. And there was no soap.
I like the food and got friendly staff. The breakfast was awesome. Clean and got quality
Just noticed this place on the way to the super market and we decided to go in for late lunch/dinner. It used to be a Denny's and now it's this cute diner. Loved the interior looks much nicer and modern then when it was a denny's. The food was ok. Lots of options to choose from. A mix of typical breakfast/mexican and american style of food. Tried the breakfast burrito and it was good. I skimmed through it and didn't realize it had that tomato sauce on top but it was tasty. My mom had the chicken breast plate and liked it. The coffee was a bit strong though. The service was good, only seemed there was one person at the time, he was friendly. Hope this place sticks around , will come back to try something else soon.
I like the portions and the prices. I would give it 5 stars but the rice was very very dry and crunchy they should use chicken stock and keep it warm and the beans were kind of cold too.

The diner is mediocre. Everything starting from the service to the food itself. Music in the background plays so loud it's a bit uncomfortable. We asked waitress for water with no ice and with lemon. She forgot the lemon, and we had to ask again. The food is not made from scratch. "Slow cooked beef with gravy" is a sliced roast beef that is cooked and topped with store bought gravy. Marinara sauce for meatballs comes from the can as well. I won't pay $20 for a meal that is bought across the street in SuperKing and kindly put together for me. Just not my preference. If you are lazy though, this diner could work for you. 3/5.
I didn’t like the food. I.barely touched it. It was dry chewy n salty. Food should be a lot better for the prices the charge I don’t recommend this place.

Came here on a Sunday morning with a party of 6, we waited like 15 minutes to be seated. We did find parking right away in the parking lot. I'm not sure how long this place has been open, but the inside looks like it needs renovations. The service was OK, but it could have been better since it was not full. We had to ask for a refill on coffee more than three times because no one would bring us an. The food was OK. We waited about 20 minutes after we were done eating to get our check, and that is because the server saw us get up. I would think twice before coming here.
Not really happy with my orders for take-out from this place. They do have good customer service when I pick up my food, but the quality of the food is not there. The banana pancakes this time were super burnt. Not tasty at all, and the Styrofoam container was melted. I didn't take a picture of it, but it's happened more than twice before. Tuna melt was not good either. Taste was off. Not enough cheese, greasy. My husband liked the chicken burrito. The club sandwich was ok. The way it was cut, though, was uneven. So, the pieces got more or less than others(why shredded cheese?) My daughter liked their traditional cheeseburger, but the fries were supper greasy and mushy. We have ordered from here a few times, but only half of those times or less I've been satisfied with my food. This is our last time ordering from here. Maybe eating in the restaurant will be a different experience, but the quality of the food should be the same(great taste/great presentation) regardless of how it gets to you.
Didn’t make a complaint because I just decided to stop eating. But I did not notice this side when I was eating as it was turned away from me. I had order the steak and eggs and ordered my medium rare, now I expected it to be more cooked but still a lil red when I saw it I felt kinda off about it because the inside was just too red but decided to eat it, it was chewy and hard to eat and after a while I felt nauseous so I stop and that’s when my mom pointed out the back of it. I felt sick. I stil wonder why I didn’t complain since this was all an hour or two for me. And now I’m home feeling sick from my stomach and feeling nauseous. All I want to say is be cautious of you’re food, I’ve been going to toasted bun and never once gotten this till today… I’m disgusted for now.

Says temporary closed but they should switch it to permanently closed or let someone else rent the property.
