Hawaiian themed restaurant in Venice. Not sure why the reviews are lower than I’d expect, maybe because of wait times. I will say this is not a true traditional Hawaiian restaurant - It’s much more upscale and has an LA feel to it. But I still had a really great experience here. I liked the tropical decor and open roof. My friend and I sat at the bar for drinks + dinner and got good service. The stand out items for me were: heat stoke cocktail, miso butter sea bass, and crispy rock shrimp which was bigger than expected. I’d recommend making a reservation in advance if there’s more than 2 in your group or if you don’t want to sit at the bar.
This vibey Venice spot actually lived up the hype. Really tasty food & service was awesome. Started with the spicy tuna crispy rice (10/10 crispy) and yellowtail sashimi. For main, got the burger (more melt in your mouth type, delish) with a side salad, and my friend got the chicken (lots of flavor and moist). Finally ended with the passion fruit mousse & pistachio ice cream (fun yummy combo). Loved it and would def come back.
Crazy… we live in the area and have been wanting to check out Belles for a while. Food was really good, atmosphere has a great vibe - and honestly our sever “Izzy” made all the difference- she knew the menu - had great energy - was super sweet and helpful- we will totally come back!
We went to Belle's Beach House specifically because they allow dogs both inside and outside. UC we planned the weekend around the family animal and was pleasantly surprised as we found this restaurant in Venice. I did have a problem with the food and the way in which it was brought out. I've noticed restaurants usually send the food out from the kitchen without regards to whom else at the tables meal is ready or served. We were taught to wait until everybody has food before you begin eating. There was some problem or other in the kitchen which resulted in my order being delayed. I do not like to get my food before the people at the table I'm eating with do. Otherwise I had an enjoyable experience in the food was good. Thank you Belle's beach house for providing a place where we can bring our family furry creatures.
We came here while looking for a place where a group of people could talk comfortably. At first, we ordered drinks with a QR code at an outdoor table, and although the drinks were a bit expensive, there was a comfortable atmosphere and many attractions nearby, and the sun set was especially beautiful. After the sunset we went inside. The seats were very comfortable and the atmosphere was good. We ordered directly at the bar. The atmosphere of the store was very nice and impressive. If it's your first time coming to Venice Beach, I recommend you go there.
This is my FAVORITE spot to eat dinner when I come home to visit from college! The food, the music, the ambiance, the vibe, the environment, the presentation are all 10/10. There is always a live DJ playing music during dinner. It brings me home to Europe and makes me want to dance.🕺🕺I have tried almost every item on the menu and nothing has left me unhappy. It is all SO delicious. Some food recs from an extravagant foodie: The spicy tuna crispy rice is TO DIE FOR. (ps: ask for a side of the avocado mousse to add) BY FAR my favorite thing on menu. I am a HUGE sushi fan and all of their rolls make me want another bite they are THAT good (ask for a side of spicy mayo if you want to take it up a notch, thank me later😘😘). The Lobster roll is my favorite if I had to pick one. The Crispy Rock Shrimp is the perfect appetizer!! The flavor is unmatched and it is lightly fried which I enjoy. We always end up ordering a second crispy rock shrimp it is truly life changing. I am currently in my health ERA, and I recently started enjoying salads. The salads here are NEXT LEVEL. The maple miso makes my mouth water thinking about the sweet, savory dressing and don't even get me started on the crispy QUINOA on top. Perfection!! I can never leave here with out a dessert and every dessert I have tried is a 10/10. The passion fruit mousse is personally my favorite, but the mango tart is a close runner up. The workers are always so accommodating and helpful when deciding what to get on their insane menu. This restaurant brings the Hawaiian VIBE with a Japanese flair that makes the experience everything and more. I am currently deciding when I am making my next reservation here because I can't get enough of this place. My only regret is that I didn't order more...You won't be disappointed. YUMMMMM!!!😋
Super laid back atmosphere but with really good food and drink, right in the heart of Venice Beach. The rock shrimp is a must have. Variety of indoor and outdoor seating.
This place is pretty busy and has lots of seats both indoor and outdoor. Service is amazing. Those lobster rolls are very very nice. Definitely get those. The ribs are pretty filling and plentiful. The fish and shrimp and nuggets were all very nice too. Check this place out! It'll be hard to find parking but you can pay or look for street parking a few blocks away. Enjoy!
We were here with a large group and had a fantastic time! The staff went to great lengths to take care of our group and every dish we ordered was delicious. The atmosphere was fun and festive.
This place just opened in October. I want to check out this place for my bday. #1 this place is super cramped even with all the space. The biggest party I saw was a table for six. Three on the couch and three on the chairs. They have a nice outside bar of the spot but don’t need any reservations outside. But for inside yes. So biggest tip #1, reserve online through google maps and book it. So many people were turned away because the place was jam packed. Food: was phenomenal , we had the garlic noodles with beef , maple salad and bao buns. Vibes: Hawaiian vibes with a disco theme. It’s weird I say it when I saw but beautiful inside. Parking: parking in Venice on a Saturday night. Good luck. Service: was fairly quick. Olivia our server was on top of it. Recommendation: like I said, get reservation if you want to dine. Don’t even try to bother walking up past 7pm.
Came here for a Valentine’s dinner date. Giving me some Hawaii and Bali feeelings :) we love it! Food is delicious and service is great! And it was nice that they still have their Happy Hour Menu available that day too! Oh and btw that Chocolate Mousse we ordered for our dessert was perfection!! ❤️
Incredibly attentive waitstaff that were always anticipating our next move and had a keen understanding in the menu, allowing them to confidently give tailored recommendations. Drinks were all excellent, particularly the recommendation to sub in mescal into the Local Hang. Massive highlights of the menu were the mini salmon tacos, corn (excellent idea to cut it into strips to make it easy to share and eat), and branzino. The sweet peas were underwhelming to our pallets, but that might have been due to the fact that we didn't pair them with something fatty like the rock shrimp. The fruit & pistachio dessert needs reworking, as there was just way too much going on, and switching to a lemon sorbet/gelato might do the trick. All-in-all an excellent dinner and great experience! Definitely a good choice to bring a crowd, as the ambiance and menu make this an all-around crowd pleaser - particularly since it's easy to move over to the Winston House if people want to elongate the night. It's nice to have another great restaurant on the West Side!
The food, the service and the atmosphere was fantastic. We had the hamburger egg rolls, Mexican corn and the fries. Because we were celebrating my husband’s birthday, the dessert of date cake and ice cream was the icing on the cake; no pun intended. One order of each dish was enough for both of us and the price was very reasonable. Thank you for our first meal since arriving in Venice Beach for the first time.
The absolute BEST experience we’ve had on Venice Beach. And GOLDEN HOUR Happy Hour is worth finding parking for. 🏆 Receiving “white glove” service at a beachside restaurant is absolutely worth it. (Please DO NOT expect to see white gloves come out, but catch the point 😁) 🍣 The food is great! I highly recommend the Cheeseburger Spring Roll and Hamachi Scallion Roll ❤️ 🍹The Maui Waui Slushi is a MUST! Fresh watermelon juice. Fresh mango juice. Fresh squeezed lime juice. Having a full out affair with smooth tequila! 🤣🙌🏾❤️
We had the mocktails today at brunch and they were delicious! I had the pineapple cucumber spritz. So good! Also I had the brown rice porridge (they call it brown rice oatmeal but there are no oats in it they said :)). It reminds me of the Sqirl brown rice porridge which is my absolute favorite! The venue is also beautiful! Great decor!
We love Belles Beach House! The ambiance is super cute and beachy, and the drinks are always refreshing and tasty. On our first visit, we had the Crispy Rock Shrimp and Hawaiian Style Ribeye—both were absolutely mouthwatering. The service was great, and the food came out quickly, which left a great impression. We loved it so much that we ended up choosing it for our wedding rehearsal dinner! They accommodated our group of about 25 people with ease and even made space for a few last-minute guests. Their minimum spend package worked perfectly for us. We sat outside by the beach, and everyone raved about the food—it honestly felt like it just kept getting better throughout the night. Highly recommend this spot not only for a casual night out but also for special events!
Beautiful dog-friendly beach-adjacent restaurant with great decor and excellent food and drinks. They even allow dogs inside the restaurant, not just on the patio. Our waiter was really nice and the drinks were well done. Food was pretty good too. The proximity to Venice Beach is a huge plus.
Stopped by on a relatively quiet night, great experience! The shrimp appetizer was fantastic, and I also liked the poke bowl and pork bun. Our server, Santos I believe, was super friend and helpful as well!
This place is a VIBE! The ambiance is Hawaii/beach theme and I loved every bit. Even though it was a semi busy evening, we got our food pretty fast. The food was delicious & so we’re our cocktails! The customer service was great too, we were always being checked on & recommended things to try! Truly can’t wait to be back. The nugget appetizers were soo good, as well as the fried chicken sandwich!
Came here with 4 of my friends and the food was amazing we got yellowtail, garlic butter noodles, Pork Bao Buns, and 2 teriyaki burgers. The flavor was on point no lack in spice. Our server Issabella or Izzie was great she talked with us for a long time and it turns out one of my friends knows her little brother but overall a great experience
Went here for my birthday. It was a Monday night and all of Venice was quiet. So I thought it would be easy to get a table at this place but it wasn’t. It was packed. Apparently it’s a neighborhood favorite and I understood why after my dinner. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The music was current and fortunately wasn’t too loud. I had the fried shrimp app which was great along with the Bronzino which was excellent. Also tried the ribs which were so delicious and the crab hand roll. Wish it was cheaper so I can eat 3 more. They serve an excellent espresso martini that went well with the passion fruit desert tart. I don’t like passion fruit but you can barely tarsus it in this excellent desert. Highly recommend this place and can’t wait to go back.
After a breakneck pace for a work event, 3 of us ladies decided we just hadn't gone through enough and wandered down to Venice Beach. One of us was in need of libation so we happened on Belle's. In search of just something refreshing after walking for roughly an hour we sat at the bar. The very sweet and kind Jay graciously supplied us with beverages and I had a little snack of the crispy rice. After wandering/ boarding a little more I went back and saw Jay again for a real drink and their burger. Great vibe, great food and drink, great staff.
Just had a great night at Belles- The food was tasty - the decor is super chill and honestly, the server we had, Isabella made the evening!! She gets Five stars! She was super attentive - gave us ideas on the menu-and had a great energy. We all agreed, we want to go back.
Bells Beach House delivers an awesome dining experience from start to finish. The service is upbeat, friendly, and genuinely attentive without ever feeling rushed. The vibe is relaxed and beachy in the best way. The food? Incredible. Everything is fresh and flavorful, but the chilled edamame deserves a shout-out — seriously amazing. Simple, refreshing, and somehow unforgettable. Highly recommend Bells Beach House for great food, great energy, and great service. Can’t wait to go back!
Service was excellent, super friendly and prompt. The crispy rock shrimp were great and a good amount at a reasonable price. Sushi was decent for a non-sushi restaurant. The maple Miso salad with the crispy quinoa was a great combo of textures and flavors. And, as important, quite an extensive list of drinks that were all up to snuff.
Seriously one of the best burgers in LA!!!! The pm bartenders are always so great. Rick and Jerry are awesome! Even the door guys are dope. Love this spot:)
Isabella was our server and she was perfect. She knew absolutely everything about the menu and described them in such great detail. Kind of crazy she knew it all even though the menu changed recently. Can’t wait to come back here again. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience Isabella.
Came here randomly with some friends who were from out of town. We were visiting Venice beach and they wanted drinks, so we wandered in here knowing nothing about it. We just ordered drinks and appetizers but wow, even the fries were AMAZING. The entire menu looked delicious and I was sad I wasn’t more hungry to enjoy it. The drinks were good and I loved the atmosphere. I’d definitely come back for lunch or dinner sometime.
We were walking the beach and noticed this spot, kinda hidden away from the main stretch, glad we went down the side road for a look! My husband said it was the best crispy chicken sandwich he had ever had, and he’s had a lot! Wish we lived closer so we could make it a regular spot. Salad was delicious. Really loved the crunchy quinoa, dressing was delicious. Really big serving for the price. Service was splendid! Really awesome waitress. Very attentive and gave honest reviews on the menu items that I was considering. Bathrooms and location was clean. Plenty of seating, inside or outside. Fairly warm inside, didn’t seem like they had AC.
Belle’s Beach House offers a relaxed yet stylish beachside dining experience that captures the laid-back vibe of California living. Located just steps from the ocean, the restaurant features a bright, airy atmosphere with coastal-inspired decor. The menu showcases fresh seafood, flavorful salads, and creative cocktails, with standout dishes like grilled fish tacos and crispy calamari. The service is friendly and attentive, making it a perfect spot for a casual lunch or a sunset dinner. Whether you’re enjoying the ocean breeze on the patio or soaking in the lively ambiance inside, Belle’s Beach House offers a refreshing and enjoyable dining experience by the sea.
Belles Beach House is a tropical escape with a laid-back yet stylish atmosphere. Blending Hawaiian-inspired decor with a modern coastal vibe, it offers a warm, inviting space perfect for both casual hangouts and special occasions. The soft glow of tiki lights, rattan furnishings, and ocean breeze set the scene, while the menu features fresh seafood, creative cocktails, and flavorful island-inspired dishes.
Great way to wrap up our trip to LA. This restaurant is in a beautiful location and has a wonderful atmosphere. The food and drinks were delicious and everything was cozy and comfortable. I highly recommend the street corn it was terrific. We were here at sunset and it was gorgeous, will definitely be back!
While in the LA area for wedding weekend, we took a short culinary exclusion to to Belle’s Beach House in Venice Beach. YUMMY!! The food and drinks were outstanding!! And the atmosphere was vibrant. Glad we got kinda early reservations because by the time we finished our drinks and meal, the restaurant was full and the line outside was growing. Highly recommended.
Belles is a must in VB!!! The food is soooo good. We came in on a Friday early evening. We had a reservation so we were seated right away. They had a DJ so it was a little loud. Love the decor though. Definitely giving the Hawaiian vibes. Service was good. A lot of people checked on us throughout our meal. Very friendly. The food is the star of the show! Their sushi is just amazing. Really fresh fish and really tasty rolls. I also highly recommend their cucumber salad. The amount of spice on it is perfect!
Megan, our waitress, did a fantastic job serving and caring for us. I’ll be back again. This is the perfect spot for girls' night, family gatherings, date night, and solo bar seating by yourself—any occasion. I tried the noodles Megan recommended and the spicy tuna with rice; both were delicious. I had a 10/10 experience, and the staff was attentive: the host, the bartender who served my white wine while I waited for my friend to show up, and our waiter, Megan. -Public parking is available -Both indoor and outdoor areas - A spacious restaurant with different kinds of tables, chairs, and sofas.
Belles Beach House is an absolute vibe! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a fun, laid-back atmosphere that still feels elevated. The bartenders were awesome—friendly, attentive, and clearly know their craft. Cocktails were perfectly balanced and beautifully presented—I couldn’t stop smiling with each sip. The food was even better. The Kalbi beef garlic noodles were out of this world—tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Every bite had that rich, savory depth you dream of in a dish like this. We also ordered the yellowtail sushi roll, and it was unbelievably fresh, with clean, delicate flavors that just melted in your mouth. Between the great energy, stellar service, and unforgettable flavors, Belles Beach House is the kind of place you can’t wait to come back to. Hands down, highly recommend!
Booked an 11am brunch reservation on Father’s Day and had the best time. We sat outside on the sidewalk seats which are well shaded. We started with the banana bread and rock shrimp which were both a deluge. The shrimp was not too spicy, well seasoned and the bread was so moist and delicious. The boys had the matcha waffles which they loved and were quite filling and I had the avocado and shrimp salad which was perfectly dressed. Reccomend for anyone visiting Venice and looking for a nice spot to enjoy a meal with friends or family!
I went to Belles in Venice Beach twice during my stay, and both times were a great experience. The drinks really stood out ; delicious, balanced, and with just the right ratio of alcohol. Definitely worth trying. The sushi was also impressive, very fresh, and I especially loved the one with jalapeño. It might look simple at first, but the flavors really came together beautifully. The service was consistently friendly, and the ambiance was relaxed. The first time I went was for lunch, and the place was almost empty, so the service was quick. The second visit was on a Monday night, and while it wasn’t very busy, it still had a nice vibe and I enjoyed it just as much. Overall, Bells is a great spot for fresh sushi, tasty drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere.
This food is amazing. A combinations of food as well as fresh squeezed juices are awesome together. Even better is getting a cocktail with their fresh juices. Everything was incredibly good. Oscar working behind the bar was great! And Chef Luis has me asking for recipes so I can take some of their great taste back to Missouri
Cool location and great atmosphere. A younger crowd for the most part on a Friday night. The mains were good but starters were the real star of the show! Spicy tuna crispy rice was delicious. Teriyaki burger was outstanding. Service is excellent. Second time we’ve been and was better than the first!
🏆Staff: Santos (main) & Megan 🍽️: The Rock Shrimp was decent and Miso Cod was FANTASTIC! 🍸: Marine Layer, Yuzu Spritz Santos were very friendly, welcoming & attentive, appropriate amount of conversation. Megan covered his break and was also excellent. My partner has a dairy allergy, and both staff dealt with it respectfully, and listed all the items that were compatible.
Belles Beach House was an amazing experience from start to finish. The space is beautiful and relaxed with a warm island vibe that instantly makes you want to slow down and enjoy your time. The interior design is thoughtful and inviting and the atmosphere works just as well for a casual drink as it does for a full meal. The drinks were excellent and well balanced with fresh flavors and creative combinations. Everything felt intentional from the glassware to the presentation. The menu offers a great mix of options and the food we tried was flavorful and well prepared. Service was friendly attentive and welcoming without feeling rushed. This is the kind of place you come back to because it feels good to be there. Perfect spot to unwind enjoy great food and drinks and soak in a fun laid back atmosphere.
Cute spot by the Venice sign with upscale beachy vibes. Came here in a group of 5 with no reservation on a Friday evening around 6:45pm, and it was about a 15 minute wait to get an outdoor spot. Indoor dining is available. Credit cards accepted. Metered street parking is available in the vicinity, but you’re going to have to hunt for it. They have an extensive cocktail menu as well as mocktails, although unfortunately the coconut water is no longer available. Got the fried chicken sandwich with fries (you could also opt for a salad) and it was really tasty. The bun was really soft and the chicken was nicely crispy with a sweet pineapple slaw. The fries were thicker cut and well-seasoned. The cheeseburger came with a double patty and was similarly quite hefty (but you could also get it a la carte). The employees were all on top of it, and checked in on us at appropriate intervals. Overall, it’s a cute spot to grab drinks or to get dinner with a group of friends.
The food was really good. Interesting and creative atmosphere. Took me right away from the Venice energy and felt like I was somewhere on vacation. The service could have been a bit faster and our server forgot one of our guests entire meal and one guests extra hash browns. Otherwise very fun experience. A little improvement in the service would go a long way here because everything else was Amazing. Staff were nice and delicious brunch cocktails !
Beachy/tiki decor, with pricey, tasty food. The patio is lovely, with a view of the boardwalk, but is pretty exposed to the sun. We had reserved a patio table but found that the loose camo netting over the patio tables provided very little shade, so we ended up asking for an indoor table. Fortunately they had one available for our group of 7, although it was at the couches and one person had to sit on a little wooden stool, since the couches only seat 3 on each side of the table. Unlike the outdoor patio tables, the indoor tables with the couches are pretty low, like a coffee table, so you kinda have to eat hunched over your food, so it's not that comfortable. They also had bar tables inside, but they only seat 2. The food was good but very over priced for what you get. $26 for a small poke bowl; $22 for a teriyaki cheeseburger with fries. The cheeseburger is two thin beef patties, about the size of a double quarter pounder with cheese. Where they really stick you are the drinks. $18 for a mai tai. Sure, it's served in a Tiki mug, but you don't get to keep the mug, and the drink is mostly ice. Our group of 7 ended up with a $450 lunch bill (which included the 20% tip they automatically tacked on), and that's with most of us just getting a cheeseburger and 2 drinks. They gave our birthday boy a free shot glass full of Pina Colada, after we told our waiter we were celebrating a birthday and would like something with a candle in it. That was appreciated. Reservations and parking at Belle's are a hassle. Reservations are needed if you want to make sure you'll get a table, but they require you make reservations through the OpenTable app. No shows are charged $25 a head to the card used for your reservation if you don't cancel at least 24 hours before, and the app only allows you to make 1 change. Belle's has no parking lot, you must pay at the nearby public beach lots or try to find street parking at one of the meter spots. The public lot right across from Belle's on Windward is $10/hour, but if you make a left from Windward into the alley behind Belle's, the lot there is $15 for 3 hours.
Great restaurant just right off the beach in Venice. The atmosphere is what drew us in as it is Hawaiian style. Loved the mostly natural lighting on the inside as well. Cocktails are pretty average but the food is fantastic. One of the best burgers I’ve had in awhile and the fries were perfect. Sushi was also good. Recommend as a dinner spot vs lunch as for 2 of us it costed $100 (one cocktail each, appetizer, one sushi roll, burger+fries).
The place is a tiki restaurant with really nice decorations and comfortable seats and table settings. They have outdoor tables too. The service was really good. I ordered Morning Dew, a gin cocktail which was a little too sweet and gingery to the point I couldn’t taste the gin. The burger comes with fries or salad with extra $4, we got both, the salad was just a bunch of lettuce and some balsamic. The fries and food were a bit greasy. Overall I’d give 4 stars for the space, music and customer service and 3 for the food and drinks.
Ambiance was fun good music,DJ mixing it up and Tiki theme. The food and drinks were really good no complaints there, service was not so good. Maybe it’s the NY in me but the service was slow. They brought out my boyfriend’s burrito 15-20 minutes before my chicken sandwich which was lame. Good place to go by the beach however I am no hater, you know it happens give it a go if you’re in the area! :)
Despite a very limited and uninspiring menu, the food was good, and orders came quickly. In terms of drawbacks, portions are small (Sashimi), especially for the price, music is too loud at times, the waiters were rude and more concerned about being "cool" rather than service. Back to the food. The kids really enjoyed their burgers. I had a salad which was boringly simple but good. The sashimi was good but a very small portion for the price. Would I go back? Not necessarily. It's not worth the detour, but if you're in Venice, it's a decent option.
Good but forgettable in a city with many options. We went for brunch and yeah, I forgot to take a pic of the burger but it was decent. The salmon poke was good but the cornucopia of ingredients just didn’t jive. I would go for the cocktails. Solid composition with a creative mix of juices that hits right for the beach vibe. Just go for drinks and move on to the next…or inland. There’s better options.
Belles Beach House is right in the hustle and bustle of Venice while it captures its own kind of liveliness. I came on a weekend evening and it didn’t feel too crowded but it was the perfect busy atmosphere. The rock shrimp was lightly battered and perfectly crispy and it didn’t feel like it was smothered in sauce. I would 100% recommend getting this because it was just that good. I felt like the dressing on the shrimp and avocado salad was too sour for my liking but the lettuce was very refreshing and crunchy. The sugar snap peas tasted raw, which is not my personal preference. The inside is super cute and all of the furniture is so well-coordinated! I even got to decide which kind of table to sit at and I loved the little corner I was brought to. My server Sam was super helpful with describing her experience with each of the bites I was deciding between. Service was super fast and (as a fast eater) I was in and out in 30 minutes! If you time your reservation right, you can even walk to the beach for sunset!
The food and drinks were genuinely good, and the interior was stylish and inviting—clearly a place that has potential. Unfortunately, the service fell short. Our sushi arrived without chopsticks or soy sauce, and we had to wait a while before anyone noticed. It wasn’t just our server—there seemed to be a general lack of attention across the staff, including at the bar. It left us with an unpleasant feeling, like no one really cared. A shame, because the quality of the food deserved better.
Food and drinks tasted great, but sometimes overpriced for the small portions. Great atmosphere and decor! Couch seating was unique but not super comfortable for eating. Only one bathroom 🤨 Recommend: green beans, street corn, chicken burger with fries, shrimp tempura roll, tuna crispy rice, miso maple salad, punch bowl, mocktails Maybe recommend: The miso cod was delicious and filling but be prepared that it’s a DIY lettuce wrap Don’t recommend: watermelon sashimi, very overpriced - just buy a whole watermelon at the grocery store Great spot for entomologists! A large spider fell on my friend’s face after the waitress gaslit my friend about it not existing, and she was condescending and asked us if it was “big and scary” and gave us a total LA tone and said “you’re so nice!” If you are scared of knives, don’t worry! We needed a sharp knife but they only have butter knives here.
We had such a good time the first time we went here that we came again. We had a reservation, but when we got there, they asked us to hang out by the bar until our table was ready. We waited for almost 20 minutes. Was a bit disappointed given we had reservations and still had to wait that long. Me, and my husband both were not drinking so “hanging out by the bar” was not for us. However, the food here has always been good. Compliments to the chef for the menu this well curated. The food is good, service could be better. Would I recommend? Maybe Would I go again? No
I was really excited about visiting here from the UK after finding on Instagram. We visited for a drink and enjoyed it so we booked for dinner the following night and found the service really odd. It started well and service of food and drinks was quick. Soon after, the waitress would ask if 'everything was okay' almost every 2 minutes. It was unnecessary and overbearing. She may have asked up to 7-8 times in the 45 mins we were at the table. Even when we had a full drink we felt like she was rushing us to finish despite having booked a table. We then moved to the bar area and noticed our table was free for a good 45 mins after so confused to why she was so pushy! Shame as it was a good vibe and decor is amazing but we felt a bit awkward from the actions of the waitress.
Asian fusion type food in a tiki themed restaurant on Venice Beach. The food was pretty good and they had a unique cocktail list. We got there on a Thursday night with no reservation because we checked a bit earlier and saw a lot of tables open. We ended up still having to wait for an hour as a walk in. They had a cute bar area where you can wait so we grabbed some cocktails from the bar. A lot of non alcoholic options too if you’re looking for just a refreshing drink. The yuzu spritz cocktail didn’t have a strong yuzu taste but it was really refreshing. For appetizers, we shared the fries, bao buns, and corn. I split a poke bowl and the rock shrimp with a friend. The fries were perfectly crispy and there were so many! The pork bao buns were good too, although the bun was disintegrating because of the kimchi before I finished it. The corn had a good helping of cotija and was hard to share since it came as cobs on a stick. The poke bowl was surprisingly pretty fresh and had a few different types of fish and an avocado mousse. It was a bit expensive though. The rock shrimp also had a pretty good serving and were delicious. Overall, it is a pretty decent beach restaurant with great vibes and a fun cocktail selection! Seating - patio, indoor, bar area seating Parking- street, very busy area
Service and vibes are great. The food was so mid though… I hate when nice restaurants don’t have tasty food. Maybe it was just the dishes we got. The Crispy Rock Shrimp would’ve been good if they weren’t smothered in mayo sauce. The salmon roll was fine. And the buttery blue crab roll was not worth $26 … they literally bring you melted butter to dip it in. Idunno🤷♀️
Inventive drinks of primarily the mezcal and gin persuasion. Strong, flavorful, intriguing and well executed. I recommend the Blank Sands if you're wanting a slightly more aggressive descent into a party mood and breakwater if you desire a leisurely yet tangy stroll into a buzz. This is more of a tiki bar than a Hawaiian restaurant as the food is more pan-asian than Polynesian. Decent food though! Short rib and garlic noodles were great along with rock shrimp. I don't recommend the desserts, too salty. Service was mediocre unfortunately and the indoor temperature was muggy and hot, but other than that it was fun.
OK, the atmosphere of this resturants was great. Such a chill and relaxing vibe. Even though the restaurant was loud. Felt beachy. The food was OK. We tried a wide variety. The sushi was not the highest quality. The crispy rock shrimp was good. I came expecting "Hawaiian" food but was slightly disappointed not to see some of my favorites on the menu. But that was my fault for not looking prior.
Came across this groovy little spot called Belles Beach House—pretty jazzy vibe. Last time I was here, I had the fish and the Mochiko chicken nuggets. This time, I just stuck with the nuggets, and let me tell you—the appetizer is absolutely divine. The food here is actually exceptional. Now, last time I visited, the service was a bit subpar. Honestly, I felt like I was being treated like a second-class citizen. That experience kinda lingers in the back of my mind with this review. I usually have fun with these little audits—I show up in sweat shorts, sandals, sometimes looking like a beach bum or a broke hippie, just to get a feel for how the staff treats people based on appearances. Despite that past blip, I’ve gotta say: the energy here is solid. The acerbic banter, the frontline staff, the chefs—they all bring a good vibe. Back to the chicken nuggets—they’re absolutely delectable, full of beautiful flavor, especially with a little squeeze of lemon. Made from rice, so they’re gluten-free-friendly. If you don’t have a gluten issue, the barbecue sauce is a winner. I usually skip it due to my allergy, but I do love dipping them in the mayo-based sauce—seriously tasty. To be blunt: if you’re a group of gals looking for a chill evening out, this is a solid pick. Great for group dates too—lots of lounging space. And if you’re flying solo, the bar’s a pretty great place to post up and vibe. Overall, this place fits my jive—and I like it. My server who was super nice was chill Ryan!
Belles Beach House is a tough one to rate because it’s such a mixed bag. On the one hand, the atmosphere is fantastic. It’s got this breezy, tropical vibe that makes you feel like you’ve been whisked away to a beachside lounge somewhere in Hawaii. The decor is fun, the lighting is just right, and the whole space feels lively and laid-back in that quintessential Venice Beach way. If you’re coming here for drinks, a good time, and a cool aesthetic, it’s absolutely the place to be. Unfortunately, the food—specifically, the yellowtail sashimi—was a serious letdown. Let me explain. When I saw yellowtail sashimi on the menu, I was excited. Yellowtail is usually buttery, fresh, and delicate—everything you want in high-quality sashimi. But what I was served was the exact opposite. I don’t know what happened in the kitchen, but the yellowtail tasted like… ham. Yes, ham. I don’t say that lightly, and I genuinely wish I were exaggerating, but the flavor was so off that I had to stop after just one bite. It was salty, overly fishy in a way fresh fish should never be, and had this odd, processed taste that completely ruined the experience. I kept thinking, “How do you make yellowtail taste like this?” It was easily one of the worst things I’ve eaten in a long time, and for a place with sushi and sashimi on the menu, that’s a big problem. To be fair, not everything on the menu was a disaster. Some of the other small plates we tried were decent—nothing mind-blowing, but definitely passable. The drinks were solid, too. I had a cocktail that was well-made and refreshing, and the bartenders seemed to know what they were doing. Service was also friendly and attentive, even though the place was pretty busy when we went. So here’s the bottom line: if you’re looking for a fun, trendy spot to grab a drink, hang out with friends, and soak up some great vibes, Belles Beach House has you covered. The ambiance alone makes it worth checking out at least once. But if you’re coming here expecting high-quality sushi or sashimi, you might want to reconsider—or at the very least, steer clear of the yellowtail. I can’t speak for the rest of the sushi options, but after that experience, I wasn’t exactly eager to try more. I really wanted to love this place, and it’s frustrating because it has so much potential. With an atmosphere this great, Belles Beach House could easily be a five-star spot if they tightened up the kitchen and improved the quality of their ingredients. As it stands, though, it’s more style than substance. Overall, I’m giving Belles Beach House 3 stars. The vibe is great, the drinks are solid, and it’s a fun spot to hang out—but that yellowtail sashimi? Never again.
We stopped here for brunch on Saturday, to fuel up before walking along the beach. Interesting Polynesian decor, undoubtedly influenced by the culturally appropriating and low key racist Tiki culture from the 40's & 50's, when America was great. However I have to hand it to Belles for not making it feel like an overt carictature of times past and feels more like a hotel lobby in Maui or Waikiki. Al said, I would be shocked to see an actual Polynesian chose to eat here. Anyway, I ordered the egg scramble. It was ok. I suspect the best things on the menu are the cocktails.
The food was amazing, service was friendly, and the ambiance was really nice. Unfortunately, our experience was soured when two white men repeatedly placed their drinks on our table despite us asking them to stop. They mocked and antagonized us throughout, while one of their friends attempted to apologize. Security did respond and were polite and professional, but instead of removing the men, they simply relocated them to another part of the bar. As a result, the night shifted from enjoyable to uncomfortable. Black folks, just be mindful if you come here — the restaurant side is great, but the late-night bar atmosphere and lack of firm action from security were disappointing.
I was overall disappointed with this place. The pictures they post lead you to believe there's a cool beach vibe happening, but instead we found everything to be about average. The worst part of going here is the parking, absolutely horrible. The service was quick, but just average, definitely didn't match the prices they are charging. Our server seemed almost annoyed to be working, never cracked a smile. The food was okay, but again not worth what you're paying. The drinks are a ripoff, period. They have a DJ playing music way too loud to the point you can't have a conversation and relax. There are way better places in the area, so skip this place, you're not missing out. Trust me!
Went in for a quick drink and bite while traveling for work. The location is pretty sweet which gives them an opportunity to charge over $10 for less than a pint of beer. Took 20 minutes to acknowledge my presence at a bar that had more bartenders than guests (small wonder why). I was told “ oh, I thought you were with them” when I finally was able to distract someone from their mobile phone and got a menu. The bao buns were forgettable. Dumplings were okay, albeit a bit pricey for 4. Better options both on and off the beach.
WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. This restaurant was such a terrible experience from top to bottom. From the food to the service to the ambience. It's unconscionably bad. Is there an option for negative stars?
I was so disappointed with my experience here! I so wanted to love it but just thought it was "meh." The dining area was v dark and the service was really poor. The food was just okay imho. I would not recommend it and will not be back!!
Terrible experience — would never go back! My friend and I had an awful experience at this bar in Venice Beach. The waiter who served us near the bar — a guy with short hair — was confusing from the start, asking unclear questions about the menu and misleading me into ordering a bottled water that he made sound like it was included, but it wasn’t. The worst part came when we were leaving. Our bill was $42, and we left $50 on the table. As we were about to walk out, the waiter chased us down, claiming we had only left $20. It was extremely embarrassing and unprofessional. When he finally realized it was actually a $50 bill, he just laughed and said he had “made a mistake.” Completely unacceptable behavior. I strongly recommend this place trains their staff properly. We will definitely never be coming back.
Literally the worst experience I had in LA in all time. We were happily finishing off the perfect day at the west coast and walked in this restaurant for some warm food. Let’s talk about food. The short ribs were all bones. There were only four ribs with meat as shown in the picture and all else were just bones buried underneath. As they told us it was how the dish looked like and how they weigh the meat per portion. Second, they were charging us the full amount for happy hour cocktails. Very suspicious. Always be careful about what you order and how they deliver.
The food was terrible. For an appetizer we got the crispy spicy tuna. It was extremely over cooked and very salty. By itself it tasted like crispy oily saltiness and with soy sauce was the same taste but worse. My girlfriend got the hamachi scallion roll and I got the shrimp tempura roll. Both tasted bland by itself. And even with minimal soy sauce the soy sauce was over powering and made it taste like you were biting into a ball of sauce. After the meal we were both still very hungry. The manager offered no help when these issues were brought to their attention. Very disappointing experience.
I’ve been to Belle’s many times and usually enjoy it, but our New Year’s Eve experience was extremely disappointing. My friend and I each paid to get in, spent at least $100 throughout the night, and were completely civil and cooperative with security the entire time. We were told to move away the VIP table section by security, which is placed directly next to the main dance floor. We were about 1–2 feet AWAY FROM THE BOUNDARY at this time and immediately moved when asked. Security REFUSED to clearly explain where we were supposed to go or what the actual boundary was despite having asked upon this initial warning. When security approached us a second time about two minutes later, we were already outside the visible boundaries (poles and ropes) and trying to move farther through a very packed dance floor. This was within about 10 minutes of the New Year’s countdown, so navigating the crowd was extremely difficult. Instead of being given any guidance or a moment to get through the crowd, we were abruptly kicked out. Security footage would clearly show that we weren’t causing any problems and were actively trying to comply. For a place we frequent and normally enjoy, getting thrown out right before midnight after paying to be there was incredibly frustrating. NYE is chaotic — better communication from security would’ve made a huge difference. To make matters worse, we had a ride scheduled for 2:00 AM at closing, and being kicked out early forced us to wait 15 minutes in the rain and spend an unexpected $100 on an Uber. VERY disappointing experience overall.
