Absolutely love Brown Cow! Or favorite weekend breakfast spot!
Great breakfast buffet! Very courteous service.
Love this place, with their authentic Mexican food. Service was great, as well.
Delicious food by the sweetest family! You will not be disappointed! Thank you so much for a wonderful meal on our way through town.
Stopped here because we love hometown restaurants over chains while traveling. We had their breakfast buffet, which was quite filling. The pancakes were really good. Quite a decent meal for the value. Great place and great people.
Holy (Brown) Cow this place was good! First off, the staff were all so nice! That’s always the most important. But then the food was awesome too! I could eat about 50 of the biscuits and gravy and the potato’s were cooked perfectly! If you ever find yourself in Vernon Texas during breakfast you HAVE to stop here! 🍳
My wife had a doctor’s appointment in Vernon decided to stop and get breakfast. It was one of the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. I got the Fernando’s omelet with a pancake it was amazing. Service was fantastic and served with a smile!
We stayed one night in Vernon while driving from Southeast Texas to Santa Fe, New Mexico. The next morning we were starving and decided to give this place a try. Don’t expect anything fancy. I would best describe the place as quaint and humble but very clean. The breakfast buffet was very nice and had a bit of everything. The staff was very friendly and the service excellent even though the place was packed. I live many miles away from Vernon but I’ll always remember The Brown Cow Family Restaurant. Thank you!
It's a little hole-in-the-wall diner, but the food was great! We were just passing through and wanted to support a local business. The food didn't disappoint! Wife had the sour cream chicken enchiladas. I had the chicken fried steak sandwich. All of it was hot and fresh. I think they stayed open a bit longer to accommodate us (Google has them closing at 8, we got there at 6:45.) If you're in the area, give them a try.
Stopped by while traveling. Service was slow, even though there were several waitstaff available. Food was just ok. Even though it looked fairly clean, there was definitely an odor to the place, especially the bathrooms. The whole place needs a deep cleaning.
If your idea of a good time is to eat in an old warn out building that has a funky smell, then you're at the right place. The bathroom is old and smelly from mold, maybe. The booths are homemade and hard for my 5'8" 200lb self to get in and out of. The table has a film on it from what years of wiping with dirty rags? I'm a little scared to eat here, but let's see what the food tastes like. Food was about what I expected, not very good... had the machaca.
What to say about the Brown Cow? The waitress was very nice. Sadly, she was also the cashier and seemed a bit overworked. The two of us dining there both had burgers. They patties were large and cooked to perfection, but the salt content keeps me from giving them higher. Ever since COVID, my ability to detect saltiness has lessened, and these were boderline too salty to eat. The tortilla chips they brought out were stale , almost to the point of being chewy. The salsa was good, but you only get about two tablespoons of it so dip sparingly. The atmosphere gets a 3 because the place just looked cluttered. It did not look filthy or unhygienic. It just looked like someone should take a couple of hours and put stuff where it goes. I won't recommend to try or to stay away from here.
The food was completely flavorless. I had hamburger steak with house potatoes and zucchini and squash. The only thing that had flavor was the gravy and onions on the hamburger steak. There is zero seasoning on any of the food. My husband had beef tacos and they had no taco taste whatsoever. The service was amazing. The servers are very attentive and make sure you have what you need. I personally will not return here to eat and would not recommend.
I found this place driving through town. We were hungry and thought a small hole in the wall might be better than a commercial chain. I was wrong. We always split our meals, and this was no exemption. The staff was nice enough but the food not so much. Ordered the Machaca plate. The meat was tough and very gristled. Plus we sat at a table and had to smell the Sulphur odor coming from the restroom as someone on another review mentioned. The place was run down but it wouldn't have mattered if the food had been good.
