I had the pleasure to organize at this restaurant 4 different big dinners with American students. The restaurant is family managed. The chef is the lady of the family. She is very good at her job and her explanation on how to prepare the homemade pasta as ravioli, tortellini e tagliatelle is very detailed and interesting. The restaurant is located in one of the oldest neighborhoods of Pavia right by the River called Borgo Ticino what once upon a time used to be the fishermen's neighborhood. Many of the Restaurant decors are still in their authentic state so on the walls of the restaurant you can see pictures and paintings of a very old Pavia which is very fascinating. The restaurant's specialty is Capellaci del Previ which are tortellini filled with beef meat. They are truly delicious. The entire staff is very welcoming and always made sure that everyone was well served and happy .

Locale caratteristico con splendida vista sul Ticino; raccomandato dalla Confraternita del Risotto. Oltre a ottimi risotti si apprezza una cucina genuina e casalinga, nel rispetto della tradizione pavese, con un occhio alla stagionalità. Porzioni abbondanti e una lista vini molto ben assortita. Prezzi giusti.

Posizione suggestiva in tipici caseggiati lungo la riva del fiume passato il ponte coperto si presenta nella sua semplicità e con lo stile classico degli anni 80/90. Ritrovare alla parete i piatti del buon ricordo evoca diverse sensazioni ormai andate ma che raccontano questo stesso locale e un epoca. La carta presenta la possibilità di effettuare un menu degustazione o di puntare su poche ma azzeccate soluzioni per assaggiare la cucina tipica della zona. Disponibili vini anche al calice siamo rimasti contenti del primo piatto scelto. Il prezzo giusto. Vale la pena se in zona prendersi una pausa e provarlo per allontanarsi dalla frenesia odierna.

Buona qualità del cibo, ottima locanda in Borgo basso e decisamente suggestiva. Forse struttura interna leggermente troppo scarna. Servizio cortese.

This historic restaurant on the right bank of the Ticino River is the perfect choice for those in Pavia looking for a lighthearted and relaxed atmosphere. In addition to the dishes and the excellent Oltrepò Pavese wine cellar, I'd also like to highlight the professional and friendly service. The restaurant is intimate and quaint, right on the banks of the Ticino River. The food is good; if it had been more plentiful, I would have given it five stars. Another small flaw was the wine service. We asked for a bottle of Valdobbiadene, but it arrived already opened, and we weren't allowed to taste it. I would definitely return.

Excellent osteria in Pavia. Located directly on the river. Beautiful location, two rooms: one more characteristic with exposed beams and a fireplace, the second a normal room in an old house. Excellent dishes, from the appetizer with typical cold cuts and goose, I had risotto and gnocchi with Zola cheese (truly excellent and cooked to perfection). The main course was sturgeon and Irish beef, perfectly cooked and truly finger-licking good. P.S. The osso buco with mashed potatoes is the best. Good service with attentive waiters. I will definitely be back.

Good food in a typical Lombard trattoria. The location is very nice and it's close to the Ticino River. In my opinion, the quality-price ratio isn't great, and it's more expensive than I'd expect given the menu and the products served.

I highly recommend this osteria for its value for money. The restaurant is located in the village, easily accessible by car and on foot. The interior definitely needs updating and isn't very scenic (which is why I'm not giving it 5 stars). I ordered the tasting menu (€30), which includes appetizers, two first courses, two second courses, dessert, and wine. I must say, everything was truly delicious and plentiful. The waiter was attentive and friendly, and the service was commendable. They were very kind in offering us a complimentary amaro. Definitely worth a try! Edit 2024: The tasting menu has gone up to €45. I must confirm the quality of the dishes, but I was disappointed by the cooking of the risotto (really overcooked), which is unexpected in this kind of place.

Esperienza sicuramente indimenticabile... Siamo stati a cena in questo ristorante. Nulla da dire sul cibo; se le fettuccine fossero state fatte in case avrei gradito sicuramente di più. La nota dolente è stata il servizio, costretti per tutta la sera a dover "correggere" il cameriere che in balia probabilmente di una forte inesperienza ci ha servito piatti mai ordinati e, quelli ordinati solo al secondo tentativo. Dulcis in fundo parecchi minuti in cassa alla ricerca della comanda, salvo poi scoprire che lo stesso non l'aveva consegnata alla cassa per il conto. Una "scusa" del personale o dei proprietari anche a salvaguardia dell'immagine di questo storico locale avrebbe senza dubbio fatto digerire meglio la serata.

Pensavamo di mangiare come si faceva una volta dei piatti del Pavese ed invece non è stato così. Il risotto non so cosa avesse ma era quasi immangiabile! Per me abbiamo speso di più di quello che effettivamente poi al palato si è rilevato. Nella sala era impossibile parlare, troppo affollata e caotica perchè troppi posti a sedere. Un plauso al cameriere con il "codino" che è stato gentilissimo e oltremodo ci ha prestato massima attenzione e cortesia! BRAVO! I prezzi del menù del sito non sono aggiornati con quello che poi pagherete. Mi è spiaciuto fare tanti km per una mezza delusione!

When you book Easter Monday a week in advance (maybe more) and make sure to communicate any changes (people canceling and people joining) to better prepare the service, you expect a bit of organization in the kitchen, but instead the experience was overall not too positive. The location of the osteria is very nice, even if finding parking is a challenge, but the location is more beautiful outside than inside, with an empty and completely anonymous dining room. We had already decided to all (a large table, not the only one in the dining room) to enjoy the tasting menu, which is always the same every day and includes, among other things, two first courses and two second courses. But after a while, they told us that the bigoli with duck (which I was looking forward to more than any other course) were sold out and we could choose between spaghetti (also with duck) or homemade cappellacci, made by them, with butter and sage. What's the problem? Everyone chooses what they prefer, right? No: only one option for everyone! So we opted for the cappellacci, which weren't very popular (quite the opposite!). Let's just say that overall, some dishes were good, like the beetroot risotto and the two meat-based main courses (although the portions were small and both came with the exact same side of potatoes, which were also half-raw). But nothing special, especially the appetizers, and nothing particularly typical or traditional. And finally, the same mistake with the dessert: it ran out! They offered us (with little conviction and almost stammering) a hazelnut cream on crumble with a caramel crunch. A hyperbole to cover up a mess of who knows what, clearly improvised with leftovers from the kitchen. But how can you offer a set menu when you know the dining room is full and you're running out of the main ingredients? For Easter Monday lunch! Credit to the wait staff, who were quite attentive and patient. But we won't be returning.

I wish I’d checked Trip Advisor before we visited, but the menu looked good and the place was full, which we took as a good sign. Our waiter was very friendly but a little overworked as it took quite some time before our order was taken, but then the food came out quickly…. Perhaps too quickly. My starter was trout with veges and mayo. The trout was dry and lacking in flavour. If you mixed it all together, it wasn’t too bad, and it was a generous serving, and compared to the main, was “ok”. My main was ravioli stuffed with eggplant, served with tomatoes and olives. Well …… we all know that eggplant on it’s own doesn’t have much flavour so a wafer thin slice encased in pasta, served with no sauce, no spices and nothing but a few strips of steamed tomato, it’s hardly a recipe for success.
