Esperienza bellissima, posto incantevole, cucina spettacolare e personale gentile e professionale
Vi ringrazio, e a presto
Sicuramente ci ritorneremo. A presto
Consigliatissimo. Gianni e Alessia
We stayed here with a group of friends and had a wonderful time. It all started with check-in. The very kind young lady with a sweet smile showed us the rooms and was always helpful and accommodating to our requests throughout our stay. The dinner was excellent. The rooms were very clean, and the view of the beautiful Pollino mountain range is breathtaking. It's an experience worth repeating, especially since there are beautiful villages and natural sites nearby. Basilicata is a region with so much to offer. In terms of nature, cuisine, and its many attractions, the castle offers an added experience. I will definitely return.
A beautiful place to stay. The castle is immaculate and extremely well maintained. New bathrooms. Everything is very comfortable. It has beautiful views. The breakfast is plentiful. And the best part is the service from Antonella Sassone, who is incredibly kind, attentive, and friendly. I highly recommend it!
5 stars! The Hotel Castello dei Principi was a fantastic choice! The castle's historic and refined beauty, combined with the kindness and professionalism of the staff, made our stay an unforgettable experience. The castle's location is strategic and offers the opportunity to visit many interesting places in the area. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a historic and relaxing experience. I will definitely be back!
A charming location, a castle overlooking the town below with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The rooms are welcoming but not extraordinary, but still in line with the price. The continental and traditional breakfasts are excellent and plentiful. We also tried the cuisine, which lived up to expectations, both in the full-board and à la carte options. The common areas are spacious and well-maintained, as befits an authentic castle. Thank you.
We stayed at the castle on August 9th and 10th on a half-board basis. The location is truly exceptional, and the staff were extremely helpful. The quality of the food served at dinner was top-notch; breakfast was a little less so, but still good. Getting to the private parking lot by car is a bit inconvenient, so the staff recommends parking in a nearby area and offers a shuttle service, which is very nice and charming. The castle is located on a rocky outcrop and offers breathtaking views. Enchanting. Congratulations.
Traveling with my husband, we stopped at this hotel/castle for 1 night and what can I say... Beautiful view, beautiful structure, we used the restaurant and everything was perfect, clean, in short excellent. Congratulations!
A beautiful castle in the heart of Pollino. Excellent location for all kinds of excursions, excellent service, very comfortable rooms, and excellent food when you're tired from trekking and don't feel like going out for dinner. The staff is young and very professional. I hope to return soon.
A fairytale location for a castle that will transport you to a world of fantasy. The setting is Viggianello, a small village in the heart of the Pollino National Park. The castle is located in the highest part of the town, accessible by a single medieval-style road, and offers breathtaking views. The rooms, in a classic style in keeping with the location, are clean and well-air-conditioned. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is welcoming and offers good traditional cuisine and a good cellar of local wines. Breakfast is plentiful and varied. I highly recommend this place; I've promised myself I'll return in the fall. Speaking of which, the sunset is breathtaking!
A fairytale stay in a magical castle in a fantastic location nestled in the Pollino National Park, surrounded by pristine nature and a unique landscape. The property is managed by Daniel and his fantastic team, all young, enthusiastic, and eager. I highly recommend the aperitif in the castle tower and the fabulous dinner in the garden. The chef is top-notch.
We spent a wonderful weekend with friends. We just returned home and are already planning our return! A magical place with a breathtaking view, excellent food, and a rich and varied breakfast... but what really won us over was the hospitality, attentiveness, and knowledge of the Castle's managers. They provided us with information on nearby attractions, museums to visit, itineraries to explore, and even excellent recommendations for dining. Love for the area, expertise, and a desire to create synergies between local businesses are essential and winning traits that work. Thank you for everything!
We stayed at Castello dei Principi for three nights. We had a wonderful time, as it's a real castle, overlooking the surrounding green mountains and the surrounding villages. We enjoyed an excellent drink on the terrace while admiring a wonderful sunset. The staff was extremely kind, and Daniel was incredibly courteous. He let us drive up to the castle with his luggage, as the road leading to the castle is narrow and our car had difficulty getting through. Therefore, those arriving with a large vehicle are advised to leave it in a parking lot just below, which is free of charge. We opted for the half-board option, which is highly recommended, as the chef, Giuseppe, is truly talented. The rooms are spacious; some have balconies, others just large windows. The furnishings are medieval in style, and could use a modern update. The location is charming for those who want to spend peaceful moments immersed in the greenery of the Pollino. Nearby, there are beautiful trails and rafting opportunities with rafts or tubes. What can I say? A fantastic holiday, it has everything you need, and we'll definitely be back.
The hotel is located in a charming and picturesque spot at the top of the village. You can reach the castle gates by car, although it's only possible via a narrow road that's difficult to navigate with a large vehicle. Alternatively, you can leave your car in a nearby parking lot and take a shuttle service to the hotel. This is the perfect place to spend a few days away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, yet still enjoy panoramic views, guided and self-guided walks in the woods, clean air, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast is varied and plentiful. The mid-August lunch, accompanied by an engaging karaoke performer, is excellent and high-quality. A highlight of the castle is its welcoming garden, perfect for those who wish to dine al fresco on warm summer evenings. The staff is friendly and helpful. The manager, Mr. Daniel, is always available, like on August 15th, when we lost our iPhone at the San Benedetto water springs, and he arranged for us to retrieve it from the Rotonda Civic Museum, where someone had returned it (the museum houses the fossilized remains of a gigantic 500,000-year-old elephant discovered nearby). From the hotel, with a little adventurous spirit, you can reach all the interesting sites in the Pollino National Park. It's a shame we only stayed three days and didn't have time to enjoy the Raganello River activities and the more challenging trails with the guides. Kudos also to the friendly and hospitable residents of Vigianello, who easily involved us in their street festivals featuring tarantellas and liscio dances. Worth a visit.
It's like a time warp into the past, but modern comfort. The staff is super friendly and the restaurant is actually very, very good. The terrace on the top offers an amazing view and it's perfect for a sunset aperitif. The restaurant is on the garden, also a beautiful location. The food is far from the usual repeating pasta and meat, it's finer and more complex: we had a risotto with pink gambas and citrus zest, octopus tempura, stockfish with Porcini, and a nice home made hummus with basil and mit, all of them excellent.
Beautiful Christmas at the Castelo. The staff worked very hard to make it perfect. We will definitely return
Enjoyed spending the one night in a Castle with a great breakfast
This is a hidden little gem, a beautiful, rustic authentic castle with stunning views and set in a stunning location. What I loved about it was the authenticity of the entire location, very quaint an…
What a slumber in those rooms. Very quiet and tranquil venue, beautiful landscape of the surrounding Pollino chain. Nice and wealthy breakfast, and courtesy and politeness by the manager, who helped …
This is an 11th-century castle, well-maintained with furnishings that reflect the style of an ancient castle. The staff was particularly kind and helpful. The food was fantastic; dinner included an appetizer, two first courses, a second course with a side dish, and dessert. We arrived on Halloween night and found a comedian performing karaoke for dinner. Upon entering the room, the room itself seemed themed, given the unique furnishings. The room is particularly spacious and comfortably accommodates three people. There are two windows overlooking the mountains, and the bathroom is also spacious, but without a window. The only flaw with the room was the bed, which was missing a mattress cover and topper, so the sheets rested directly on the mattress. Another flaw was the extremely thin pillows. The castle has a small parking lot, but to get there, you have to navigate a particularly narrow alley that a Ford Kuga can't fit through. This problem can be overcome by parking in a parking lot just below, from which you can reach the hotel via stairs and a short drive. The entire property is extremely clean.
A magnificent castle stands amidst a backdrop of greenery and mountains. It's difficult to reach (narrow roads, watch out for the sides of your cars), but once you arrive, it feels like you've stepped back centuries. The silence, the view, and the birds in the background make it seem like you're not in 2024. There's a small parking lot at the foot of the castle. A structure with enormous potential that will only reach its peak with a few adjustments. I didn't give it my all for a few flaws. Having said the fantastic location, let's move on to the interior. We're still inside a castle; let your imagination run wild. The rooms are beautiful, spacious, and stylish. However, the very maintenance of this style, in my opinion, prevents me from giving it a high rating. There's no telephone, mosquito nets, or curtains (I should point out that they would be helpful, as the room is exposed to the sun in the afternoon and it's quite hot; I had to put beach towels out to keep the windows from heating up). The air conditioning (fan cooler) located at the entrance to the room, opposite the bathroom door, doesn't cool the room properly. The mattresses could use a new one. The bathroom is missing a shower stall or curtain to prevent flooding when showering. We booked half board: Breakfast, I'd say, doesn't live up to the location, the stars, and the cost of the hotel. There's little choice. And the few things there aren't even homemade. Dinner, on the other hand, is decent; it's not a buffet; everything is served at your table with a menu that changes daily. The service, the reception, Daniel, and all his staff, go above and beyond and are very competent; they make up for the small issues described above. Well, I'd be happy to return in a few years and find the small issues described resolved.
Perfect location . The castle is beautiful and has real potential but unfortunately we found the atmosphere really lacking . We had an aperitivo on the roof terrace, no music no staff , nothing, just a bare terrace with plastic furniture. We ordered a spritz and it was fizzy water with a drip of aperol , no prosecco .it was really disappointing
