I really liked the atmosphere and the huge dining hall-like experience. I like the simpler dishes like what you'd find at a home cooked meal but a lot of it was quite bland. Without the hot sauce there wasn't much salt to anything. But I liked the huge portions of the cucumber salad. I think where they really shine is in the sweets. The horchata as well as the vanilla atole were excellent.

This place is probably one of the oldest business in this town, they created food culture for the entire city. They cook their dishes with the same old recipes, their flavor is on spot and consistent no matter how long you take to come back (months or years). If you are visiting Colima or Villa de Alvarez this place is a must do. As an outsider the dishes might be all new flavors, one of the most traditional dishes is "sopitos", which is a small sope with meat and some greens covered with such a flavorful tomato sauce, for the most part all dishes here are covered with the same sauce, which in the traditional way of cooking, also probably all dishes here are deepfry, once again this is the tradition, even so, the food is not greasy and is rather flavorful. There's also a unique dish called Pozole, this is a traditional Colima soup, is made out of pork and white corn, make sure you try it, specially if have never done it, make sure you add all the extra veggies and some lime juice, so delicious! They are also known for their drinks (non alcoholic), I personally really like: "agua de Lima", is made our of a citrus fruit that grows in this area, and is so refreshing. Overall, this is an excellent traditional restaurant, with quick service and very flavorful food.
