A great way to start the day! Wonderful service and a delicious breakfast. The best oatmeal and banana (vegan&gf) pancakes I’ve had. The loaded hash was a perfect savory compliment to the pancakes.
My friend and I both ordered the Southern Burger, which has BBQ sauce and is topped with a fried green tomato. (We both asked to hold the pimento cheese.) For a side, I had the house salad with homemade honey mustard dressing. He had the roasted veggies. For drinks , he had a Bloody Kentucky, their version of a Bloody Mary. I had a Dark and Stormy, which had bourbon, ginger beer and something else. The burgers were perfect! Nice char, tangy BBQ sauce... and very filling! Definitely worth the money.
This place was amazing, we went and tried to get sat during a big Festival that was happening in the area and we waited Less Than 3 minutes. I ordered the pulled pork quesadilla. My dining Partners had the chicken fingers and a mushroom swiss burger, both were raved about. Our server Josh was next level taking our order without a notebook and getting everything perfect. Price was good for the amount of food and amount of time we spent the atmosphere was great. Highly recommend for a come in and sit down dinner, or for a quick appetizer and drink.
I can't believe walked by this place once without going in - I'm glad I circled back. Ordered the breakfast burger: huge slabs of bacon on a toasted kaiser roll (interesting choice). The owners really took pride in the atmosphere of the place and made it feel like I was back in Kentucky. Along with the southern hospitality, this is a good place to come alone or with friends.
The best roasted vegetables I've ever had. That might not sound exciting, but I could've eaten those vegetables every day of my life. They were SO GOOD. We were so happy the server recommended them. Staff was really friendly. The restaurant had a cool renovated-antique vibe. Breakfast was yummy and reasonably priced!
Stopped in for a bite while passing through, sat outside and had a delicious meal! Homemade queso and hot chips were a great start, then chicken and biscuits and chicken and waffles?! So good. Portion sizes were perfect- nothing leftover and we were all pleasantly full. Would definitely recommend!
UPDATE: I live across the freaking country yet have managed to eat here twice on both of my trips within the last 6 months. (Doing math is hard: I've eaten here 4 times in 6 months despite living almost 3000 miles away). It's not just that the food is THAT good (it is), but their prices are more than fair and the incredible staff keep me coming back. My dining companions actually ARE locals and go here allllll the time. I'm treated like a local by the staff even though I'm not. The ghost story is irresistible. And the food really is something. Highly recommend the Chicken and Waffles AND the themed bathrooms (go to Kentucky!). Original review: Awesome spot for breakfast - ordered the vegan/gluten free pancakes, and they were so, so good. Sugared bacon is a must! Awesome staff and great prices. So cute inside.
Food is great. The staff is very friendly. The owner is very informed of the history of building and the area. The chefs are great. We were visiting from Kentucky. We ate there several times over the weekend. My husband had shrimp and grits. He said they were the best. I had the Kentucky hot brown. Delicious. For dinner we had their homemade Sloppy Joe's. Very good. We will go back tomorrow for brunch before we head out. Stop by if you are in the area you won't be disappointed. They just got their liquor license so you can enjoy a drink with your dinner.
Best southern breakfast, I’ve had in along time! Owner, manager and the whole crew are absolutely great and so helpful, customer service is outstanding ! The food is hands down one of a kind amazing, a touch of southern and northern almost in every plate. We went 2 days in a row and on the 2nd day brought family visiting from TN, they also raved! The art is so different but stunning, Decor is one of a kind and so fun! Highly suggest this place and all the wonderful staff! PS THEY HAVE SWEET TEA!!!!
The best new restaurant I have visited in Watertown. The Shrimp and Grits and the New Orleans style Sugared Bacon were awesome. They also make an excellent Blueberry Cream Italian Soda. Wonderful food, great service and a delightful, friendly staff. I can not wait to go back and try more of their menu. I am a very particular Foodie and this is now my favorite new restaurant. I have been looking for some good Southern style food in the north country for more than a year and this is the place!
I finally made it back like I said I would. This time I ordered the Jibarito, Southern Fries, and fried green tomatoes along with a piece of tiramisu cake for dessert. The plantains were fried to the perfect amount of crispiness and the meat was tender, juicy and full of flavor. On the Jibarito . The fries were crispy on the outside and and tender on the inside. There was plenty of cheese and meat with the fries. The fried green tomatoes were still lacking but they were hot. The tiramisu cake was a large sized piece. It was moist and sweet but not too sweet. Overall, a very nice meal. My Wife and I split everything and we both left full. They staff was very pleasant even though we came in too close to closing time. We will be back again! It was 10 below zero when we went so I am hoping that was the reason some of our food was cold. Also, our fried green tomatoes were super greasy. Cold oil maybe? The taste of my sandwich and the chili was good enough that we will try again on a warmer day.
I really wanted to like this place, unfortunately, our experience wasn't the best. Some of our food was cold, some was chewy like it has been microwaved. Too expensive for the quality. Neat decor. Good location. Maybe skip it.
No one was there at dinner. Should've been a sign that something was off. This place seems more like a social club then a restaurant. The food was awful. The beer cheese doesnt taste right, the cheese curds were tiny and dry, the burger has a weird spicy, tangy
We were duped by the online reviews and photos of food. It is definitely an eclectic and historical place. But, it should have been a sign that no other patrons could be found during a peak breakfast time. I ordered monkey bread that was hard as a rock and clearly microwaved. The waffle was oddly hot and cold. Overall, this was a bust.
