I thought I was invited here by family! The nicest people you will ever meet. And quite arguably, the top 3 burger I've ever had in my 46 years of existence! I will dream of this burger when my head hits the pillow tonight.
Just grabbed a couple of burgers for my first time here and man I’m impressed. This place is a true small town burger joint! Great food, super friendly staff and great atmosphere. 10/10 recommend and I will be back soon!
Oma’s has the best burgers in town! I have been a regular customer for over 5 years and they never disappoint. They have that small town feel on top of great food. I always recommend them to anyone looking for a good burger. A must try in Waxahachie!
Always been a favorite for breakfast and burgers. Been going here since I was pretty young and made sure my boys went too. Now my boys are grown and will call me to go meet them there. You just can't beat that flavor from that old griddle.
Have lived in or near Waxahachie my whole life and have heard about Omas but never been until today! The burgers are small but perfect for my appetite and the taste is fantastic! I love the homey feel of the restaurant. Definitely a must try!
Their monster taco will really feed two although my husband will stuff himself to the brim with one because they're so good. You can customize what you want but they come with bacon, sausage, ham, onion, egg, cheese, tortilla. Fresh made by very nice and friendly women. Of course their cheese burgers are great and fresh made desserts. Can't beat this place!
A staple of Waxahachie. I encourage everyone to get an oma burger at least once in their life. I love the small town feel. The prices are a little high but it's a family run business, so I understand. I really enjoy the outside seating and the retro decor inside.
Gotta love Oma's. Had not been in about 6 months. 3 by 3 burger was great. Have been going for 40 years.
Best greasy burger in Ellis County. Hands down. You won't be disappointed if you like a real flat top cooked pure beef burger.
Really good, old school, local dive-ish burger joint. Absolutely delicious. Do try Oma's!
I love this place!!! The best lil greasy burger ever! The ladies are awesome too! ❤️ if you're looking for a good 'ole fashioned burger, this is the place! Love their fried pies too. 🍑
This was a good restaurant, with good burgers. They were very fast. And everything was good. Not the best I've had, but far from the worst. If your in the area, it's worth getting a fast, inexpensive burger.
A local food legend and rightfully so... If you're a native Ellis Countian you have to make a pilgrimage to this shrine of old school burgers and such as often as possible. If you've never been here before, stop in and grab one of the famous Jiffy Burgers‼️ I promise you'll be back again... 👍🏻
One of the best old fashioned burgers I’ve had in a while. Upon entering you are immediately taken back in time. I wasn’t even hungry but my husband wanted to grab a quick lunch so we stopped by and when that greasy perfection of a burger was laid in front of me I embarrassingly scarfed it all down in less than a minute. Do try this place out
I was taken back in time when I took my first bite of my burger. Reminded me of this one hole in the wall burger joint in the 1900s in Dallas tx Best burgers in the old East Dallas.. Nomas jiffy burger is one delicious burger joint. Ya ever traveling thru waxahachiee come get you a mouth watering burger. I love it
Oma's is a staple in Waxahachie! My dad took us here when we were little, and now I bring my son! And the whole time, there have been familiar faces behind the counter. I love the 50's feel on the inside; the I Love Lucy prints have been there as long as I can remember! Bring your patience if you come at lunchtime, cause they are BUSY! But there's a good reason for that ❤️ Make sure you leave a tip, cause they definitely deserve it!!
If you haven't tried Oma's, you are definitely missing out. The Best burgers I have ever eaten. Old fashioned and so delicious 😋 mmmm you got to try one.
This place is amazing. I've been coming here since I was a kid with my Poppi! It's the best place in Waxahachie to step back onto your childhood.
Setting aside the old-fashioned charm (which a lot of people love but ultimately is secondary when judging a restaurant), the burgers themselves are among the best I've tasted. I'm not sure why, because they look pretty plain. But the taste is elite. Not too big, not too little, just right. Not messy, perfect portion size. The quaint 1950s theme and friendly staff are good too, which are sometimes reason enough to visit a dining establishment. But like I said, the taste itself is what really sets it apart. Addicting cheeseburgers.
As soon as we walk in they know my husband, so they are like hey Tony and already have his order already started on the grill lol. Now that is great service 100%. We love this place. They always make you feel welcomed and its just a nice home town feeling spot to be and enjoy a great burger 😁❤
An iconic burger joint delivers a blast from the past. Regardless if you choose a seat at the bar or choose a booth, the sight and smells are all part of the dining experience. All ages of our family truly enjoy the sizzle and flavor of these hand-crafted burgers hot off of the grill. If you haven't been - get here quick!
Great burger, good price. Took parents, who were a little concerned about the curb appeal, and they both wanted seconds. This place is the real deal. Lady taking our order seemed a bit put out about us asking for Mayo instead of mustard and said only Yankees like it that way. I told her we were from Georgia, and that is typical everywhere but Texas. Still the burgers were great, the ambiance original, and we had a great time.
My wife and I both have been eating here since our childhood and continue to this day. This place started a ritual with us as I'm sure many other people. The absolute best place anywhere. I'm a retired truck driver and have eaten at alot of burgers goints around the country and nothing has ever even been close. Thanks to all the ladies for always being so awesome and MAKING the absolutely best burgers I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying.
I absolutely love this little place! The ladies that work there are super friendly and accommodating. We had cheeseburgers, mine with jalapenos, yum, and a few huge pieces of Texas Sheetcake. Everything is very affordable. This is by far the best place I have explored since moving to the area.
I love Oma's! The food is great and it's like stepping back in time into an old fashioned burger stand. I get that the setting is supposed to look old, and it does. I mean it's original, but that place could definitely use a very deeeep cleaning. It's pretty dirty. I went for breakfast the other day and was grossed out. I'll just leave it at that. Please wipe the place down. At least start with the nasty front door 🤢 IYKYK🤷🏻♂️ **Update** wow! They have really cleaned the place up! Good Job!!👍 It's a 5* for me!
We stopped here based on Google reviews of nearby restaurants, and it was the perfect stop on a road trip to Austin. The employees were delightful and recommended the double, which we all ordered. The burgers were hand packed and cooked right in front of you with whatever additions you'd like. The burgers were juicy and perfectly sized for lunch. Add some chips and a glass coke for a full meal under $8. Order your burger and sit on the sweet patio in the back!
Wow! LOVING these old school burgers. So happy I don't live in this town because I would eat here way too much. Highly recommend coming here and grabbing a couple burgers. Friendly service. Have been in business over 51 years! Mighty tasty and very juicy. Get on this!
A Waxahachie Tradition...perfect hamburger everytime!!!!! I wish the owner would post pictures and names of the lady employees!!! They are special people !!!!
Ate here for the first time this week while we were in town for training from Grand Prairie. The bacon cheese burgers were awesome!!! The guys we were training with said they also have an awesome breakfast menu. Will definitely have to go back and try the breakfast
Classic Burger Joint. Oma's is a "dive burger" place. Bottled Sodas, chips, burgers. Breakfast is delicious as well. I've been coming to eat at this place since I was a kid. Very nostalgic.
I used to spent my summers in Waxahachie…and used to eat here all the time back in the 80s. This place has not changed 1 bit and that is AWESOME So old school …. It’s epic. If you are around Dallas … or in Ellis County ….. do not hesitate to go here. It’s incredible. Cheeseburger A Chips A Tea A- Ambiance A+ Real Texas Burger A
When I was 10 years old I used to mow my Grandfathers yard every Saturday and when I was finished he would say “Come on now let’s go down and get us a Jiffy Burger”. I was addicted, then to their burgers and pushed a snapper through hot texas sun hell fire just to have a bite. Fast forward 20 years later and still gotta have it when in town. Literally the best burger I have ever tasted. Drove 38 miles For this divine triple triple w/ bacon & Jaloppenoes Best in Texas
Small Place with Big Taste. Double Cheese with Bacon. Pickles on the side. Coke and Fritos.. First Visit.. 5 ☆☆☆☆☆. No Fotos.. All Gone.. Sorry.😋
Stopped by this morning for my first visit. This place is the epitome of a hole in the wall burger joint on the edge of historic Downtown Waxahachie. The ladies are very friendly and attentive. Definitely a cheap eats joint and the burger is one of the best burgers I've ever had! Highly recommend
Good old fashioned greasy hamburger. Great prices and super quick service!
Love stepping back in time when crossing the threshold of this old building. The ladies behind the counter have made thousands of flat grill burgers in their lifetime. It's a no nonsense place usually with a line. Find a booth inside or if it's a nice day there is a back patio to sit. I suggest the double meat because the old timey burgers are thin.
A historical must visit if you come to town! I have such fond memories here and will take anyone that comes to visit until the end of time!! Always the same, perfect burger!
This was the best lil burger I ever had i should have gotten 2
Should be a Texas Landmark. Hot burgers cooked when ordered on a a 75 year old skillet. Flavor town lives here. Old school taste nothing fancy the best bite you could ask for. Atmosphere is a blast to the past. Frito pie is a gem. Still hungry? Grab a pie or a real sugar Mexican coke or Dr. Pepper.
Great hamburgers, great service. I highly recommend this place
This place never disappoints. The ladies working this restaurant are fantastic. Highly recommend for breakfast or lunch!
Oil time burger spot. Good grease burgers 🍔 😋. Delicious small but filling.
I must first admit that when I walked into this place I wasn't sure what to expect. After ordering my two Patty cheeseburger with bacon I was disappointed when I saw the size of the burger. Boy was I wrong. I had my food to go and as soon as I sat in my car I grabbed the burger and took a bite out of it. This burger is amazing. Greasy and delicious. I take back all of the negative thoughts I had on this place and must say that I am totally satisfied.
Food was good , glad i tried it but the prices are to expensive for the size of burger. The burger fits on the walmart brand buns which is the same as a # 7 from whataburger. We spent almost 40$ on 3 burgers 2 chips and 2 drinks. No fries as they don't make them.
I want to say I have very sick for over 6 months now and haven't been able to eat.... Until now the best burgers in the world hands down and the only thing I have been able to eat without complications! ❤️ But honestly brought me to happy tears. Thank you so much for the best service and food. See y'all tomorrow. 😁
If you want a good old Texas style lunch burger place, this is it! Great burgers add chili dogs! The owners are wonderful people and this little diner has a very warm, cozy, nostalgic feeling. Highly recommended! The burgers are a little small but extremely flavorful, I would suggest getting a double . 👍🇨🇱
After trying an Oma's Jidfy Burger for the first time today, I'll be back and I'll bring my family. They serve homemade burgers, chips, and soft drinks. They also had homemade brownies and store-bought cake. Park across the street in the parking lot deaignated for Oma's Jiffy Burger.
Customer Service was awesome, food real good . Except the burger potion was small . This place does not sell fries it sells various chips.
Great customer service and amazing burgers! I'll recommend them to everyone. We'll be back to try the breakfast!
Oma's Jiffy Burgers was chosen as our January father and daughter lunch. As soon as we walked in - you could smell delicious burgers being cooked. We got their cheeseburgers and the burgers were very delicious. If you have an appetite - go for the large burger or 2 or 3 meat burger. A great Mom & Pop place. Everyone was very friendly and a comfortable place to have a burger. Parking can be tight during peak times - we had no issues. We will be back..!!
One of the best burgers I have had in a long time. The burger is not very big but it's very flavorful. Best if you eat the burger there rather than take out because you get a hot and delicious burger. The meat is seasoned just right and the burger is juicy but has crispy edges. The Special sauce is phenomenal. You can't get fries with your burger except chips. The diner is cool and rustic looking but I wish it was larger to accommodate more people to dine in. This location has been around since 1970, so you know it's very good. I would definitely visit every time I'm in Texas.
This classic joint has been on my "want to visit list" for years, do when the opportunity presented itself I had to take it. I'm glad I did. . This is a tiny place, with maybe four booths and a dozen diner stools. I ordered my burger and chips (they didn't have fries) and settled into a stool for the short wait. . It didn't take long for my cheeseburger to appear, wrapped in wax paper like a gift. It is small, where the slice of American cheese was wider than the patty. They managed to pack a lot of flavor in that small package though. . I opted for mayo and mustard, with all the vegetables. It was delicious, slightly sloppy. There was an excellent slice of onion, maybe a quart inch thick. I like onion, so that was swell, but the crunchiness it lent was perfect. . This was a great burger for a reasonable price. It was worth the visit.
What a place to find! Some history behind these walls for sure. Fresh grilled never frozen beef. Fresh ingredients and friendly service. Straight up classic burger joint. From inside to out this place exudes everything you want in a burger shop. The food came fast and was delicious. Seasoned well and the bacon was great too. If you are in the area and love burgers this is your winner.
Burgers are good. Simple menu, if you want a full meal 2 meat burger is best. Wish they had an alternate side to bag chips. Saw hashbrowns on breakfast menu, maybe have em for lunch too?
Who says bigger is better🤣😂😉... Great flavor Certified Mom and Pop and what's best is they ain't apologizing, and I'm OK with that... If you bourgeois, it could use a scrub down on the patio but, trust me those little burgers remind me of a Franchise back in the day called Mr. Cooks... Check it out!!!
Nice hole-in-the-wall burger joint. Definitely go double or triple patty as they are thin. Overall a great burger. If you get lucky, it will have a nice crisp crust on both the burger and the bun. No fries here, so only chips available as a side item. Overall a worthy dive.
I love visiting “hole-in-the-wall” fast food joints. We tried the cheeseburgers which were very good except for being a bit on the small side and for the price. Also, there were no fries available, only chips. The ladies who worked there were very nice, though, and the service was good. I liked that the soft drinks were in the glass bottles. I enjoyed the atmosphere and retro decor and feel to the place. It reminded me of some of the burger joints I visited as a kid in my hometown. I would go back, but next time if I’m really hungry, I’ll order more food.
Overall it's a good burger, but nothing to write home about. Definitely have to get a double if you want a "normal" size burger. A feel like it's a little pricey for what it is. It's essentially just a burger and chips.
This is a burger joint like a small roadside diner in a 1950s movie. While they offer some sandwich options, burgers are the main attraction. Standard fare; just enough grease to be tasty, and made in a jiffy. If you’re hungry you may want to get two, as they are not huge burgers. A bag of chips and a drink completes the meal.
Great little spot, small little place with 5 tables and 8 bar stools. They don't have fries, chips only. The burgers are ok. Real greasy. You have to order double patties because they are thin. 2 double burgers, 2 chips and 2 fountain drinks. $28 plus $2 tip.
I have seen this place a few times and wanted to try the little hole-in-the-wall burger place, Country Corner Place. The burgers are fresh and tasty. I was totally surprised. The burgers are small, so they recommended a double patty. It's worth it. Will definitely be a place I visit again.
Like the taste of a good ole fashioned mom/pop burger. Great taste, but the bun was way too greasy. Don't get me wrong. I like a greasy burger, but that was a tad bit too much! Overall, I'll go back and just make mention not to grill the bun.
Burgers were good even though the cheese wasn't melted on our burgers. Slightly disappointed in the size of the hamburgers and the fact they don't serve fries. Very small place with great nostalgic decor. Left hungry so will probably not be back soon.
The burger tasted good, but it was really small. I ordered a double meat and had to go and back order another. The cheese isn't melted, and the square cheese slice is bigger than the patty and bun.
My first time, fast and friendly service! Old diner vibe is awesome, such a throw back location with that alone worth the visit. My burger was fine, well done with proper toppings, just falling a little short on the flavor being honest. Still have to rank Bootsburgers in Rockwall better!!
Burger was bland. A burger/steak seasoning would be great. Hell a little salt and pepper would go a long way. Prices aren't outrageous. Cool old diner vibes. But my god. Close that place down for a week and give it a good thorough cleaning
I went in to try their burgers, never had one before. Got a double meat burger for 13 dollars and some change. The burger was good but it was very small. Kinda of like a junior burger anywhere else. The service was good and the staff was friendly. Didn't see the value in the portion size, though. They need to make burgers bigger for that amount of money. I gave it 3 stars solely on portion size. Everything else was good. God bless
I ordered breakfast fron here recently. Very very overpriced for mediocre food. The absolute cheapest of ingredients. I spent 53$ on a very mediocre breakfast. Absolutely will not be doing that again. I was shocked when I got the total. Could have gotten the same exact thing at jack in the box and spent a quarter of what I did here. I promise the ingredients are the same quality.
I liked the hole in the wall feel and the old style decorating, etc.. but the burgers were terribly small and there are no french fries. I could live with no fries but the burger size just did me in. I was advised to get double meat for a little extra $ and took the advice but it made no difference. The flavor was good because I love home cooked burgers but when I opened up my burger and the patties were the size of sausage patties, my buns were burnt to char and the overall size was that of a double cheese burger from McDonald's, I was very, very disappointed. I'm really surprised that the rating is a 4.8 out of 5 on here. The two stars I gave is being generous, trust me. I always give an honest opinion so, not naming names, but there are much better places to get burgers in Waxahachie. By far.
It was just okay. As you can see below I ordered one without the bun. Honestly there is not enough meat there to taste if I had ordered a bun I'm sure the bread would have over powered the meat. The meat had good flavor but was smaller than the bacon and I would consider the meat to be a "credit card" sized burger, almost as thin. The customer service was in line with the food. There was not anything I tasted that I would return for, matter of fact, I like Wendy's burgers better. The customer service at Wendy's is better too.
Burger was good, place was dirty and soda was 3.25 a can
Nostalgic, yes, but way overpriced. 1 star for atmosphere. They would really do well if they cleaned the restaurant up, maybe serve fries and soft serve ice cream cones.
Burgers are small, patty is thin, they only have American cheese, for an adult trying to get full or eat a meal this is not the place to go. And the price for what you get, a small drink like a coffee cup, a bag of funnions, and the smallest burger for 11 bucks, hard pass for me, and the burger not even that good.
Saw the lady making the burgers with no gloves on, using her bare hands while she was touching everything around her!! Nasty!! Thats how you contract diseases 😐 Very expensive and super small burger with no fries or drink included, gotta buy it separately. The burgers good but I wouldn't risk getting hepatitis or some sort of disease, especially from the lady touching it with her bare hands who has acrylic nails on, which can collect a bunch of germs underneath the nail. She even had a box of gloves in front of her!!
Checked this place out based on the reviews from others saying it was a local must visit. Honestly, I was quite disappointed. The burgers were tiny and paper thin with a slice of processed cheese. The grill definitely could use a good cleaning as my eyes burned when I entered from the many years of burned on grease and usage. The tables and counters were very very dated and needed a good cleaning as well. Don't think there will be a second visit from me. 😒
This is a honest review! I personally don't know what kind of drinks that all of these 4 or 5 STAR reviewers are drinking but I need some of it. Lets start off with parking....well there isn't much so good luck. This place is neat and old fashioned for sure which I like!! The booths are extremely old, no cushion left just springs and boards.. The Burgers that I see so many people talk about and read the reviews on. Well the patty was as thin as my bacon slice.. I honestly couldn't taste the meat at all. I felt like I was eating a grilled cheese. The cheese wasn't melted on any of our burgers. Hahaha I mean the chesse on my daughter's grilled cheese was barely melted. The place has no fries of any sort??? The price is not fair for what you are getting!! There reviews are very much misleading, " must go here", " won't disappoint", "best burger". I'm not trying to be rude, but it's very misleading. From what I read before going and what I got!
While my credit card was processing two seconds after I told the cashier my order I asked to modify my burger to no mustard sub mayo. The prep lady that was in charge of condiments turned and rudely said “I already made it!” and said that they can’t let it go to waste. I’m sorry but these weak burgers are so small you finish it in 3 bites. And they literally use cheap hill country fare H‑E‑B buns that cost $1.25 per package. For the burger being $5.50 I’m pretty sure you can spare a squirt of mustard or set it aside for the next person. On top of that there was no reason for the attitude. I should’ve just gotten a refund lol
First time here and was extremely disappointed. 4 burgers burnt, could actually smell the burnt smell through the wrapper. Apparently they were waiting on buns and must of cooked a whole bunch of burgers that sat on the grill for way to long. May have just been a off day. might try again in the future just based on the reviews. Another odd thing is they don’t serve fries , not sure I’ve ever been to a burger place that doesn’t have fries.
Burger was flat and greasy. No fries, only chips, which is okay, but it was very expensive for what you get. Staff was rude. Ordered a bottle soda. When asked for the bottle, server pointed to the fountain machine and walked off. Seems popular with locals, but would definitely not go there again as an out of towner. Have had better food and service at Whataburger
The cook doesn’t use any gloves touches the vegetables and the buns then touches raw meat in the process. That is definitely not safe or sanitary. I am so surprised people aren’t sick after consuming the food.
I have to say the burger tasted good. Fresh, hot, old fashioned greasy burger. But this place is nasty!!!!! We were hoping to find a great place to eat after visiting the local famous Meat supply store (church) We stayed out of politeness to our friends and no one got sick but when we got back in the car we all agreed all of us wanted to leave but thought the other wanted to stay! We had some good laughs over the experience!😂😂 The staff was not friendly as other people have said. You can tell they like their local buddies but strangers coming in were not greeted and stared us down. Food not too pretty either! Go elsewhere!
