Great fine dining at the West Baden Springs Hotel.
Sinclairs is my favorite breakfast spot in West Baden. The Eggs Benedict is always my go-to, and it never disappoints. The service is warm and attentive, and the atmosphere matches the elegance of the West Baden Springs Hotel itself. Having breakfast here is the perfect way to take in the beauty and history of this incredible landmark—whether you’re a guest at the resort or just stopping in to experience it. What a perfect way to start the day! Every visit feels special.
Sinclair's Restaurant is located inside of West Baden Springs Resort. We ate here for breakfast and they have fine dining in the evening. The food came out hot and fresh and service was pretty good. The atmosphere is classy but still comfortable. We stayed here for my birthday and they even brought out a little cake for dessert! They do not sing to you, so no worries about that.
My experience with the Fine Dining side was impeccable. It was romantic, with a great wine selection, and the Chilean Sea Bass Was wonderful. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and prompt. I will definitely return again! On the breakfast/Café side, much the same observation. Service was a little slow, but we were not in a hurry, so it wasn't detrimental to the experience. The breakfast entrées are definitely large enough to share!
The veal Marsala was absolutely lovely! The red velvet cheesecake was suburb. The chocolate domes were scrumptious. And the butterscotch crème brûlée was absolutely amazing. Our server Devin was awesome. Would highly recommend!
The only thing I regret about our stay is not eating dinner at Sinclair's. Breakfast was phenomenal. Like over the top phenomenal. I got a breakfast sandwich. The biscuit may have been the best biscuit I've had. The service was excellent. It's at the West Baden, so the atmosphere is just perfect. Classy, but not gaudy. I trust you will not go wrong with dinner there.
A surprisingly beautiful setting welcomes you to enjoy a meal. The staff was professional and friendly. We were served coffee with a backup pitcher full of our breakfasts were prepared to perfection and served hot. Overall, an exceptional experience. Try the eggs Benedict!!
The filet was fantastic. Perfectly cooked medium rare. Very flavorful. Loved the puree the steak was placed on. Was not a fan of the sautéed mushrooms but that could be more of a personal issue. Though the taste was good. We didn't like the texture from the lions mane mushrooms. Recommended wine from our waiter were on point. Loved out desert.
The service and food are top notch. We were always seated very quickly. Reservations are recommended though. The complimentary bread is delicious. The Fried Green Tomato Stack tastes delicious and be made without bacon jam. The vegetarian Curry Coconut Lentil Stew is lovely, but had a bit more salt and turmeric than necessary. The Strawberry au Poivre is a must have. It is breath taking send enough for 4 people. The breakfast options at Cafe Sinclair are all wonderful. They were a little short staffed during breakfast but still did their best to accommodate everyone. Everyone at the hotel does their best to give a great customer service.
Outstanding. Had our office Christmas party and were very pleased with the service and the quality of the dining experience. By southern Indiana standards, it's pricey, but I've yet to have a bad or even average meal at Sinclaire's. At the moment, my only complaint is that it is only open to hotel guests. I assume that's only a temporary measure as we've eaten there in the past (pre-pandemic) without getting a room. Overall, as good a dining experience as you'll find in southern Indiana if you're not price-conscious.
Excellent food in an elegant setting. Very attentive service. The food matches the setting with inspired twists on traditional upscale dining.
My husband said it is the best filet mignon he has ever had. We ordered all the things recommended by our excellent friendly server...fried green tomatoes, filet, red snapper, and key lime creme brulee. All delicious.
Had breakfast and it was delicious, you can tell when there is a Chef present. The stuffed French toast was out of this world. Highly recommend this place.
Food was fantastic. Highly recommend the stuffed french toast.
Our server, Glenn, offered exceptional service and menu recommendations. Our dinner from start to finish more than exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend Sinclair’s when in West Baden Springs.
Great place for an upscale dining experience in the West Baden Hotel. Wonderful food and service are the highlights of any visit to this eatery. I recommend it to anyone in the French Lick area.
Magnificent! Perfect service from the staff. I had the best breakfast that I have ever had. Be prepared to pay for the experience, but it's well worth it in my opinion. Probably the best eggs Benedict that I've ever tasted. Wonderful!
Breakfast was delicious! Bagel with smoked salmon full of flavor and Daniel was our server - awesome way to start our day!
Very convenient when staying at West Baden Springs Hotel. Friendly and professional staff, and delicious food.
The entire place was not only beautiful, everything in the restaurant was served to perfection. Heather is a great server.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 21st anniversary dinner. Food was delicious.
We had an excellent evening, with wonderful dishes. Andrea was a wonderful server, truly exceptional. Start with the saganaki, and some Rosé. We had the salmon and lamb flank. Everything was very tasty. This was a Saturday evening on labor day weekend. Still, our reservation was immediately honored. Zero wait.
We had a great dinner at Sinclairs! I had the filet and my wife had the lobster and pasta. Both were outstanding! Our only complaint would be that both both of these items were pricey with no sides/salad/soup. Sides are served family style.
Dined for dinner and breakfast. Service was outstanding. Food great presentation and very filling. Dante was our waiter in the event meal, he was amazing! Highly recommend him as your waiter. Patti was our waitress for breakfast and highly recommend her as well. Everyone was so warm and friendly!
Old world fine dining. Finally a place that isn't a sterile modern feel. I love the opulence. The columns, the lighting, the warmth of the dark wood. The carpeting was beautiful. The classical music was at the right level to still have conversation. The staff was impeccable! The lobster bisque was so incredibly scrumptious. Very creamy with large lumps of lobster. I wanted to lick the bowl clean, but that's not proper. The lamb shank is absolutely huge. Enough to feed our table of four. However the risotto from both the lamb and the side dish were dry for us. We are used to creamier risottos. But the crab pompadelle was insanely rich. A large helping sinfully creamy and packed full of crab. Any fish you get here is served perfectly. I could get used to living that kind of lifestyle. Laid back with a an appreciation for the finer things in life. It's a must on your bucket list!!!
The best dining experience West Baden Hotel has to offer. Sinclair's provides an elegant and romantic setting. I opted for the lamb shank and while tender and tasty it was also a tad dry. The Pecorino encrusted artichokes starter, though, didn't disappoint. Service was top-notch. Reservations are recommended.
The shrimp pepperelle was a very good generous proportion. The lemon flavor was just right. The white chocolate creme brûlée was incredible, unfortunately it had been stored near bananas, my assumption, because bananas was the first taste I had on my palette with each bite. Atmosphere incredible. The waiter may have been new. He wasn’t very confident in his position. Staff was very friendly .
One of the Best restaurants I've ever been to. The service could have been better but the food is that good. Best pork chop I've ever had. Prices are high but it's fine dining.
The food is excellent but perhaps a bit overpriced. Everything tasted phenomenal and you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. It is one of the nicer places to eat between French Lick and West Baden. Would I recommend it? The bottom line: Yes. Is there other places worth trying first? Also Yes.
Our soups were great. Scallops were cooked perfectly but the presentation with risotto was not inviting at all. The wedge salad was not enjoyable by either of us. One of the shared dishes was missing a serving spoon. Very disappointing for the 2 of us expecting so much more for the prices.
Service was meager with hour wait for wedge salads; while the restaurant was 2/3 empty. Entrée was prepared correctly and presentable. The good was an outstanding busser from Jamaica who never let glasses get below half full. Maybe we visited on an off night.
The interior was nicely appointed but carried an echo of all conversions throughout the dining hall. Our waiter was hurried in his approach to our drink & main course orders which we found annoying. Because of this I decided to lower the restaurants income and ordered an iced tea instead of the pricey wine. We ordered the rack of lamb and ribeye both medium. The ribeye was spot on with its cook temp and definitely not the highest choice cut of meat. The lamb was rare to the point it was difficult to cut with the steak knife. The sides ordered were mushroom risotto, asparagus and golden Yukon garlic mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were amazing the risotto was good but lacked flavor and the asparagus was grilled to perfection but some stocks rather large and stringy. The rolls were cold, tough and chewy. As far as the service from the wait staff. They never offered a refill of tea, never checked on after receiving the food and the biggest boo boo of all was performed by the person who brought the risotto as the cloth used to handle the dish was mistakenly push into the food as he placed it on the table. Sadly, for a dinner that cost $227.00 is not worth a second visit or a high recommendation.
Very nice ambiance but service and food not worth the price. Valentine special dinner was overpriced and carrots, risotto and 1/2 of a redskin potato were all cold. Waitress was not attentive and busy clearing tables rather than removing our dirty plates. Steak not cooked as requested. Waited too long between courses. Will not go back. Disappointed.
Had a reservation but waited in line to be sat after reservation time. Very short staffed. Others who came in well after us got their food before we did. Paid $200 for a sub par meal with poor service. Would not recommend.
This was the most regret I have had for the amount of money I spent (aside from the time I bought a motorcycle in my 30's & nearly died). The only thing I enjoyed was the charcuterie board (stop there, the second star is for that) even the alcohol drinks were too strong to enjoy. The lobster bisque was too salty to eat at all! And the ac wasnt on so it was sweaty. Uck. No to this place, please take my advice and save yourself a few $100.
Atmosphere is lovely. Service mediocre and food terrible. They charge insane prices for the food that is served. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and it was served with a large part of the fish undercooked and I had to send it back. Sides were cold and had to be sent back. Save yourself a lot of money and disappointment and go elsewhere.
I really hate to leave a critical review, because we really wanted to love it. The server was nice enough but seemed awkward or maybe inexperienced. We were served a basket of burnt rolls, and the appetizer, fried mozzarella, was fresh from the refrigerator cold. The iced tea was brought out with lime instead of lemon. The strawberry spinach salad was pretty good. No complaints. The "peppercorn dressing" on the baby romaine salad was very fishy, even more than you'd expect of a ceasar dressing. The filet mignon was good and cooked as requested. The Curry Crab Rundown was just okay. A lot of meat, but also pieces of shells. We shared garlic mashed potatoes and mushroom risotto. The potatoes were great. The risotto was undercooked. Dessert was really good. Our server made the bananas foster tableside, and it was by far the best part of our meal! The menu mentions lemon zest, but our server used lime juice and orange zest. I don't know if it was intentional or if he didn't see the lemon on the tray, but the flavor was delicious! Overall, for the price of a fine dining experience, it was lacking.
The service was fine, but I wasn't happy with my dinner. I had the crab pappardelle ($42) and there were large pieces of tough lemongrass in the sauce. I thought they were pieces of crab shell at first. I mentioned it to the waiter and he said that I wasn't the first person to say that and even he thought the same when he had previously tried the dish. Really disappointed considering the price.
The West Baden is to beautiful and upper scaled to allow such mediocrity food. Sinclair's is overly priced and the food quality not a good value overall. We are here for two days and we literally wasted half our breakfast for two. The Hashbrown casserole was awful and the chorizo burrito was so off-putting. If that was chorizo it was old and precooked, something wasn't right. Chorizo has such a unique flavor and this burrito fell short. Oatmeal is $14.00 a bowl, for something that costs a quartet per bowl, we didn't need the fruit on top, for us, but the bowl was still $14.00. We passed and we will not dine there again. Oh, and why would a place with such potential with such neat history take shortcuts on ice tea. Bottled, pre-made ice tea is nasty and at $5.00 per serving its a poor value. Ice tea is so easy and inexpensive to make, West Baden and Sinclair's should really get ride of the cheap processed tea.
1. The bread starter that was served to us was cold, and I honestly couldn't tell you if it was stale, but it was crumbly as hell and fell apart. We did not eat it. 2.The crab cakes were great. The triple threat risotto was good, if you dont mind the seafood being a bit overcooked. The flavor was there. 3. Husband greatly disliked his veal marsala. 4. We only got 1 drink because the server didn't come back till the end of our meal to check on us and by then we were kind of over it. 5.My husband had to ask for our check, which would have been fine, but we actually needed to leave. After 10 min I told my husband to go without me. 20 more min of me sitting by myself, no servers in sight waiting for my check. Finally got it and left. 6. All of this MIGHT have been ok. But they sat us at the tiniest table, at the back of the restaurant that forced each of us to face a wall away from the rest of the restaurant, and we couldn't sit across from one another. So we had to sit adjacent, facing walls, away from everything. No one could see us. We were forgotten. 7. There is a suggested dress attire. People were coming in regular work t shirts and blue jeans, like they just spent the day at a regular job and decided to walk in. This was our 10 year anniversary dinner. It really hurt. I even put in our reservation notes how important this night was to us. We could have gotten better service and food at an OCharleys. $189, plus a $30 tip. Not worth it. This is not a fancy/expensive restaurant. Its just another place inside of a hotel. I will include a Pic of the crab cakes because they were good.
Very bad hosting experience. 25 percent of restaurant was filled. We (party of 5) waited for someone to help us for around 5 minutes. Then, we were told 10 minutes, only for us to wait 15 minutes and have three tables (2 top, 8 top and 3 top) sat when they walked in after us?! We left and took business elsewhere. No apologies, nothing. Only bad experience ever at French Lick. We’ve stayed here at least 50 nights.
Several weeks ago, my family made a reservation at Sinclair’s for dinner on 5/22/2021. We were allowed to make the reservation and were never told the restaurants could only be accessed by guests of the hotel. Today, we got a call canceling our reservation because we are not guests at the hotel less than 6 hours before our reservation. Come to find out, it is graduation weekend, and no restaurants have availability for reservations. I am disappointed our reservation was not honored and that we were able to make the reservation in the first place.
As others have reviewed, I made a reservation over the phone and was not told that only hotel guests may dine at the restaurant. Made my reservation a month ago for my wife and I and planned our weekend away around this restaurant. I find out the day of, by looking at the menu online that this ridiculous policy exists. I called to confirm this was true. Glad we didn’t show up dressed and ready to be turned away. Looks like Applebee’s for our anniversary...
The service was really slow. It took an hour to get the food and we couldn't get refills on our drinks cause we did not see our waitress. We waited 30 minutes after we were finished to get the check too. Crab cakes were good but veal marsala was not seasoned. We dressed up as the restaurant requested but allot of people were in jeans and a t shirt which was against the dress code they require. It kinda brings down the environment when im in a suit and the guy next to me is in ripped jeans and a ozzy t shirt. Overall, not wort $200 for me and the wife with this service and food.
This place is over priced. We are party of 4 and we ordered 1 appetizer: crab cake $21, 1 sea base $56, 1 sea scallop $54, 2 today’s special $44 each. The fish were over cooked, and scallops was not fresh. The most horrible thing is that the final bill was $285. (Clearly something was wrong here, either the waitress put other people’s food on our check or she just randomly added some items). We like the hotel, but the food and restaurants here need serious improvement. Not recommend
We sat for 35 minutes before receiving our wine. The place was nearly empty and the service was exceptionally slow and impersonal. The menu is limited and the meals were sub par. This is way over priced. They are pretentious to think they deserve these prices. It is a place living on its history that is way past its prime.
Took forever to get food .Food itself very over priced for small portions.Sides charged extra too .would have been ok if we got food quickly but they made us sit there for an eternity.should have looked at the reviews before we went .
The food pricing is astronomical in comparison to the quality of the food and taste. In our large party, we had multiple dishes sent back due to receiving cold and undercooked food after waiting well over an hour for our food to be delivered. We were not met with an apology or offerings to make it right. If you’re looking for good food, I would go elsewhere.
Ordered a ribeye, got a filet. No bill adjustment but whatever. My fiance's steak was rare instead of medium. Drink order was wrong. Under casual dress when there's supposed to be a business casual minimum. Seated at a half booth when it wasn't even at a third occupancy. And the delightful guest behind us who were smashed and obnoxious but allowed to stay.
A Friday night at 600pm, very few customers. Seated in a half booth type table, somewhat cramped for an average human. Very very slow service. Food, although steak was cooked wonderfully it has very little flavor. Mashed patatoes were as if they had been sitting out; dry and stale. Dessert... waiter brings the tableside desert to prepare and leaves. After talking and waiting on other tables he returns finding melted icecream. After 2 more rounds of melted icecream, running out of propane for the burner, and overall questionable preperation, we are told it is how it will be. Very average desert at best. Overall, food was average at best, service was HORRIBLE. Definitely not worth $250 for a couple. Will never be back.
