This is a one-man show. He works hard, his burritos are perfect, and the chips he serves with salsa are warm and crisp. And there is always a futbol match on the TV. Where else can you get friendly service and a satisfying meal for a little more than 8 bucks? I've probably been to Jalapa a dozen times in the past few years, and the food is consistently just what you'd want. If you've got to have a burrito, go here.
Very good value, $7~ gets you a lot of burrito (and free chips). Most other places here charge extra for the sour cream for comparison. Might have to wait a little if they're busy.
The price is very reasonable. Actually, I would say it’s lower in price than the other places I have visited. Food quality is fantastic, and the taste is amazing. My family and I love eating here. The service is also excellent. They customize the food every time according to our needs—a good place to eat.
Tacos Jalapa has amazing food with a great ambience. I always have a great time whenever I come, and I highly recommend ordering their Tacos Al-Pastor (Pork). The flavor is incredible, and it tastes like you are eating at home, rather than at a restaurant. Chipotle may be right around the corner, but you should instead come here to enjoy the comforting cuisine and environment of Tacos Jalapa.
Super good tacos! Carne asada was extra good! But al pastor, cabeza, pollo and pescado were great too. Flautas were crispy and tasty. Great horchata and the owner was super nice ☺️
This place was absolutely amazing! Since I never been there before I ordered three different types of tacos. and they were crazy good I also got a small side of jalapeno sauce and it was the best iPad anywhere in this area
My lunch go to place now. The owner is nice and knows me by name now and always greets me (and I've only been there a few times). The Tacos reminde me of my mother-in-law's and are super tasty. Only negative thing I could say is one time there was too much cilantro on my taco.
This is one of my favorite places to get lunch under 10 dollars. My go to is a trio of tacos (lots of different meat options here!). Food always comes with chips and salsa as well, complimentary.
Tacos Jalapa is in top 5 mexican restaurants I have been in globally. It is that good. I normally have a rule to go to non fancy, down to earth places and Tacos Jalapa is certainly such a restaurant, but the food is absolutely amazing, as was the service. I'd give it a 6 out of 5.
Best tasting food and salsa!! The carne asada is not fatty, and the wet burrito has so much flavor. We will be back for the tortas and other items on the menu! Delicious!
First Taqeuria since moving to California and I am excited if this place represents the mexican food in store. Tasty fresh chips and delicious salsa, and my Flautas were flawless. Reasonable prices. I will be coming back.
Food is delicious, always busy. Staff really appreciate their customers. Co-workers and myself, frequently come to this restaurant. I really recommend it, especially beef roll taquitos( flautas)
The food was excellent and I truly appreciate the hard work of the person running the store all by himself. These are hard times for restaurants and small businesses so next time you think tacos or mexican food skip the chain restaurants and support a local restaurant like Tacos Jalapa!
The flavor of the food is second to none. They know how to season their food. Prices are great too! You can't lose. This is by far the best Mexican food place.
Very tasty burritos and open-faced tacos. Very reasonable. If only the TV wasn't blaring all the time.. but the volume control is easily within reach.
Ordered the nachos and two carne asada tacos. Amazing flavor and combination of tastes. Everything was great and tho I was stuffed, I wanted more. Everything was fresh and if it wasn't handmade, it certainly seemed like it was. Just great.
What an amazing charming Mexican restaurant. Good prices and the food is cooked by someone with experience in Mexican cuisine. Skip Chipotle and Taco Bell, come here instead. Get the street tacos
So amazing, and the customer service was incredible! They even got us to try the beef tongue and beef cheek tacos which turned out to be surprisingly delicious - had we not liked them they would have given us something else free of charge
Great authentic food and incredible prices. You can't beat. This is authentic Mexican food. Chris - has own this place for over 20 years. Their supper burrito is the best.
Great little hole-in-the-wall! The cabeza, lengua, and pescado tacos were delicious, and the burritos were tasty - the whole family enjoyed the food from here. Only one person working there when we dropped in due to CV19, so call in your order ahead if you don't have time to wait.
I got the tacos with the Carne Asada, beef cheek, and Al Pastor. All were amazing. Really good meat, not over cooked. Very moist and flavorful. The salsas were very good and complimented the meat nicely. Big flavors, good prices, and an honest working man behind the counter. I will definitely be back.
Hands down the best tacos I've had in the south-bay area and one of my personal favorite places to eat, PERIOD. I can't speak for the whole bay but this guy knows the he's doing. This guy and his salsa are a local treasure. You're doing yourself a favor if you swing by this small unassuming restaurant.
A hole in the wall that escaped my attention for many years. My daughter introduced me to this joint. I ordered the tacos (carne asada, pollo and psecado) with single corn tortilla. Wife ordered taco salad with carne asada with mild sauce! I chowed down the tacos in no time. Fresh ingredients with crispy tortillas. Of course my eyes were scouting for more food and I ordered a small quesadilla with carne asada. Filled with enough cheese! Appears to be run by a couple. Friendly and fast service!
Great authentic food at an affordable price. What more could you want? This place has an incredible selection of meats: carne asada, pastor, fish, lengua, cabeza, and so much more. Try the burrito Jalapa, flautas, taco salad, torras, tacos, or my personal favorite, the giant quesadilla with meat. Why go to chipotle when you can come here, support a local staple, get better quality food, and get it all for a better price?
Small Mexican eatery right off of El Camino Real. We ordered a Burrito Jalapa con Pollo and three tacos. They gave us a Carne Asada burrito instead by accident, which is what I'm reviewing here. * The Burrito Style: Wet burrito Dominant flavors: Nutmeg (in the salsa), carne asada (tasted a bit like a very good beef stew) Cheesiness: Medium Heart Healthy: A lot of cheese and sour cream, but a fair amount of fresh vegetables. Size: Standard super burrito, enough for a whole meal. Cost: $9.00 Vegetable quality: Crisp and flavorful Meat quality: A little overcooked, less flavorful Overall, uniquely memorable burrito. The interior itself was great -- clean, and well-decorated. Very much in the standard taqueria style, but with a touch of extra care apparent. However, a movie was playing on the TV that was definitely not family safe. It was a definite distraction during the meal -- especially since the mirror in the dining room makes it impossible to angle oneself to avoid the TV and it was moderately loud. Given the very good price for a uniquely tasty super burrito, I can easily overlook the flaws in the experience, 5 stars.
Excellent Mexican food at low prices. Nice decor for dining as well. We come here every now and then.
Great no-frills little spot! Ordered the regular quesadilla with lengua and it completely satisfied my cravings! Pay with cash to save on some extra fees but they do take card
I’m from KC, and we have great bodegas and taquerias out there. However, I had the pastor torta here and it put all the tortas I’ve ever had to shame. This restaurant has THE BEST torta. I nearly cried from how good it was.
My favorite taco place in South Bay. Family run, kinda feels like you're getting your delicious treats from the owner's kitchen and eat outside in his living room. Go for the flautas... a winner everytime!
UPDATE: Unfortunately they have permanently closed :( Excellent tacos at super affordable prices. Free chips and salsa with every order is a plus. Patience during busy times is well worth the delicious food.
Good tacos and great prices, definitely the spot to meet your taco craving
The Burrito Jalapa is absolutely delicious. The ingredients are fresh and flavorful, and it just made for a delicious meal.
Great burrito! Super fresh and very tasty! Thanks so much for having me! I’ll come back for more!
Food is very fresh and flavorful. We had vegetarian taco and chicken tacos with nachos.

I went here on a whim and had driven by for a couple years- I wish I had gone sooner!! My old coworker used to bring us food his wife had made fresh at home..this place reminds me of those moments! Affordable, but bring some cash to tip if you can- Not able to on card. Less than a dollar charge to use card, btw, which is custom at some places so it didn’t surprise me but I thought I’d include that detail. I wasn’t able to tip one time and the owner (?) was okay with it! But I always want to tip more because it feels so affordable for the quality and the workers have always been so nice. The burritos aren’t huge or extravagant but For the price I am always happy and it has everything I want inside! I had one and the chicken quesadilla and it was so so enjoyable. The man there took my order and went to cook it right there, and the meal included fresh chips and awesome salsa! Perfect meal. Very straightforward no frills type of place. I’ve gone back 3 times since I relied on reviews to chose this place! I wanted to leave my own for Others to take a chance too. My family will continue to visit this place hopefully for years to come :)
This is the place to be at for real authentic Mexican food plus amazing service from really good-hearted people. The food here is made with love for sure and reflects in the taste. Delicious. Thank you guys for treating me so great like family. I love you all. God bless you and the family and the business. Wishing you success. Thank you so much!
Taste like food from family kitchen that you can enjoy everyday. It’s fresh and not greasy. I’m curious what spice did they use for the al pastor, it’s so good, and unique. Beef cheek is tender and juicy. Will come back.

Really great local taqueria. The owner cooks everything himself, and the Travis are truly wonderful. He also gives burritos a quick toast on the grill. Tamales are on the menu, but they run out early.
Nice small taco place, had the tacos al pastor - the tacos are street style so quite small. A typical person might need 3, you order them a-la-carte so you can mix and match. Also ordered guac and chips - wasn't a big fan of the guac (a bit watery?) but the tacos were out of this world!! Highly recommend but you can skip the guac :)
Customer service was fabulous and the food was even better. Only thing bad was I had to eat my jalapa burrito with plastic eating utensils and I was hard to cut it. If they had silverware it would have been 5 stars. I would definitely reccomend them.
I came here in a search for some really good Al Pastor tacos...and I was not disappointed. On top of this, I dabbled in the beef cheek tacos (as I do love a good beef cheek) and was pleasantly surprised! These fillings were served on some fantastic soft corn tacos (which I normally don't enjoy so much)...in fact, probably the first soft corn tacos that I've ever loved, let alone liked! To top it off, the hot salsa was delicious. So, now you're wondering why I only gave it 4/5 stars...and that is due to the wait. It is small, and there are quite a few people that hit it up, but the wait still surprised me. Regardless, I will definitely be going back again, and again, and ...
Sweet place with busted seats and a telenovela playing on the screen. The chips were great, the salsa was spicy, the taco options were diverse with beef, chicken, beef tongue, pork, and fish. The nachos were our favorite, with a generous mix of molten cheese and sour cream.
What a great find! This little hole in the wall doesn't look like much, but their food is on point. The seating area is small and grungy, but it wasn't filthy. They bring to food to your table. We had the Burrito Jalapa, delicious. We will be back.

This mom & pop taqueria is a hole in the wall you need to find your way to. They haven't succumbed to the current inflation trend yet, making this the best spot to stuff yourself with tasty grub for not a lot of dosh. Even food trucks have quietly slid past them in pricing. The star of the menu for me are the crispy corn flautas (rolled tacos) filled with beef, chicken, or mashed potatoes. They come 3 to a serving topped with cheese, lettuce, and salsa. An amazing value for what other places charge double, despite some turning out lower quality plates (specifically Cheff Che’s in SJ’s atrocious, bone-dry chicken taquitos). Street tacos are simple and excellent with soft, twin tortillas. Burritos are competent but not my favorite. Chips and salsa are provided free (I’ve only eaten there, don’t know if they come with to-go orders). It’s hard to go wrong when everything is this reasonably priced. Credit cards are accepted for a small fee but don’t allow a tip to be added, so be sure to bring some cash for this deserving local business!
My wife and I really love the tacos at this place. It's a small mom and pop place but the guardian saw that is excellent and the nachos very authentic. Nothing fancy about the place but a great bite to eat if you enjoy authentic cuisine. Parking is limited and the restaurant is pretty hot but you can always sit outside. Definitely some place to check out.
A unique style of grilled burritos with a nice combination of fillings. They don't have carnitas. Their other choices were flavorful. I had the luenga and my wife had the chicken. The staff was very friendly. We loved their homemade tortilla chips and their salsas were great.

Not too greasy, and on the cheap side. More-authentic Mexican food than most establishments in the area. The staff were very friendly. There were a decent number of boxes, papers and some trash in the kitchen and by the register. I want to return later to try other items on the menu.
The taco meat was microwaved and therefore pretty gross. Worse yet, I watched the cook position the entry way rug with his bare hands, then go over and rinse his hands for 3 seconds with just water, then prepare food. It almost made me throw up. I regretted eating anything from there when I saw that.
