So underrated. Been coming to this institution for 40 years. Used to come with my Pop. They are closing up in a couple of months. If you are looking for fusion, forget it. This is down home authentic hole in the wall type place. The staff are similar. Gotta come back again for the authentic 鍋貼,紅燒肉,魷魚三鮮,素黃雀
This is a hidden gem of Chinese restaurant in Orange county. Been there about 10+ times, sometimes alone, other times with my wife. I go there primarily for dumplings. Pan fried, boiled and in the soup. My comfort food. Outside look is modest, plain. And not fancy decor inside. But the dumplings, wow. Then I began trying other dishes. Fish in their sauce. Cooked just right, with right amount of flavor, not overpowering, just right. Delicious. Service is prompt, efficient, not a lot of extra conversations, but comforting like my mom would be. The owners/ chef care about their food, and care about you. Once or twice, I was admonished I was ordering too much food for one person. Had to explain I plan to taste them, then take them home so I'm to-go containers. I miss their Pan- fried dumplings from time to time. Been to several dumpling restaurants in downtown LA, San Gabriel Valley area. Been around Southern California for over 40 years. With all that experience and many Chinese restaurant experiences, this place and their Pan- fried dumpling puts a smile on my face. Give them a try.
We came here solely because it had the best ratings nearby. It did not disappoint! The owner is fantastic and you should let her select your food for you. Known for their dumplings and hand made noodles. LOVE this place!
The food was very good. It's a little old storefront, but for quick good food it is fine.
Great service; Great food; at a reasonable price. Visiting from Arizona and my cousin highly recommended the Peking Restaurant as she has been a customer for many decades. She was right. Lily, our server, was the best and the wide variety of food was all delicious. Of course the dumplings were great. Our son lives in the area so we will be returning!
I took my wife on her b-day and she was not disappointed. Really good food at this place. Happy wife, happy life! lol
We’ve been coming here for 20+ years (we used to drive from LA and now we live in Orange County so it’s much closer)! Excellent quality and authentic Chinese food and they also have vegetarian options for most dishes (just ask). The beef noodle soup with hand rolled noodles are the best in the OC (even better than we’ve tried in Irvine ). If you’d like taro, we always love their fried taro dish. They are known for their delicious dumplings and potstickers (we always ask for vegetarian). Reading another review, I didn’t think about the option to request to omit MSG, so we will ask for that next time! Countless good dishes, but some of our other favorites include sautéed green beans, stir fried rice cakes, hot and spicy soup. It’s a little hole in the wall but it’s the best!
Seriously THE BEST Chinese food I’ve ever had in SoCal! A bit pricey but definitely worth it!! Just try it. My favorite is the country style chicken & honey walnut shrimp. Everything is also really really good!! Have a great time abs take family & friends to dine in or take out food for the family. Thank you for amazing food and excellent service!!
A great little restaurant for family style Chinese food. Been eating here since I was a child and it's always been the same delicious food and friendly faces serving it.
The service was a bit slow at first, but the food was really good! Ill definitely come back.
You would never know it from the outside of the restaurant or for that matter, the interior too. It's an older restaurant where decor doesn't win but holy cow the food is consistently amazing. The beef rolls are hands down the best you'll have anywhere in Southern California. These are the places I love. A whole in the wall type place that doesn't provide the greatest ambiance nor service, but who cares when the food comes out and every dish is delicious.
Delicious food! We’ve been looking for a good Chinese restaurant and thanks to our friends’ recommendation we did. Hot sour soup, Pan fried dumplings, Beef roll, and Ribs. Everything was soooo good. The staff is very friendly and quick service. It’s on our favorites list definitely!!!!
The potstickers are so good! It's one of their specialty items. You need to order it right after sitting down at the table as they make it when you order. The beef roll is wonderful too. I crave for these two items like every other week and usually order the same items when I come here. Other stirfry dishes are great too. If you like taro root, order fried taro balls as dessert. They're wonderful.
this restaurant has always been one of my go-to's, one of my absolute favorites ever, and i'm not even chinese! and i'm also vegetarian! the food is always delicious, and the kind auntie that works there makes it always feel like home. she remembers our orders and faces every time, without fail (at this point, i'm not even entirely sure what the actual names of my regular dishes are on the menu!). i'm genuinely so disheartened to hear the news that they're closing/changing ownership, but they said it’s because they want to retire :,) this restaurant is truly so special and so comforting. i rarely write reviews, but i wanted to make sure this was said. long live peking restaurant, you were sososo good to me, my family, my friends, and the community. all the love!!!!!!!
Amazing home cooked, authentic Chinese food. Northern style. Must try the pan-fried dumplings, and Kung Pao chicken. Braised green beans were fantastic. Beef roll is tasty, generous, crispy and not greasy or heavy. Everything was delicious. They do charge a credit card fee you may want to avoid by bringing cash presently. If you have time, please pay this restaurant a visit and bring some hungry people. It will be a cherished memory. Update: This restaurant is still open! You still have a chance to try your favorites here. Maybe through October 2025.
Old school, hole-in-the-wall, yes it's all true and I love it that way. It's not the type of place that tries to impress you with fancy decor or trendy food, but instead relies on their quality, nostalgic-style dishes. For this reason, Peking Restaurant is, hands down, my favorite Chinese food in Orange County. Excellent food that my family and I have enjoyed repeatedly at Peking Restaurant: honey walnut shrimp, sesame chicken (just as flavorful as orange chicken and sweet & sour chicken, but for some reason underrated. It's not really all that spicy, despite the name), chop suey, steamed dumplings, beef roll/Lu-Lee roll, fried rice, chicken with mushrooms, pan fried beef noodle, mu shu pork. This restaurant knows how to make these classics just right, and your group will feel at home in their humble, family-friendly dining area. There is a sign at the front desk that you can avoid extra fees if you pay in cash. Since I always go for takeout however, ordering online requires a credit card and I've not yet found an option that lets me order online and still pay in cash at the restaurant. This is apparently their preferred form of payment, so bring plenty of cash if you plan to order in person or dine in.
Delicious! Fast and friendly service. Food was served hot. The noodles were cooked perfectly… not mushy and seasoned without too much salt. The fried dumplings were tasty too. I highly recommend this restaurant… I’ll be back to try a few more dishes.
Dumplings, Xiao Long Bao, and beef rolls very good. We got pot stickers too, one of the best I’ve had. Portions are large and dumpling skins are fresh. My mom’s pick for Mother’s Day, we celebrated this year day before. We also had some stir fry dishes, shrimp with broccoli was yum.
Old school chinese restaurant. Onion pancake was so dam good!!! Yall gtta try it! Also portions are big enough for 3 or 2 hungry ppl... they give a hot bowl of rice tgats big enough to share with 3 peopl💖💖🥹🥹👍
44 years of delicious pot stickers and Chinese dishes. Sadly, closing end-of-month at an yet undecided date, so hurry on in for the yummy staples, such as pan-fried potstickers, mu shu wraps, honey walnut shrimp, Chinese pancakes, and bean curd with vegetables, before the 92-year old cook retires! Gonna miss the crispy, chewy Chinese pancakes with an extra dash of salt, and scrumptious fried potstickers! Their off day is Monday, and break hour is 3pm to 4 pm.
Great service. Great food. Easy to order. The servers were fantastic and answered all of our questions. Always a pleasure to come to this restaurant.
Great Chinese food to be had here at Peking Restaurant. We have been coming to this restaurant for 40 years already. No one does the eggplant basil with pork better than they do. Today I wanted to eat some wood ear mushrooms and they just stir fried some with some veggies for me. Super yummy. Love the food and the people. If you don’t want MSG, you can tell them to not put it in.
The best pot sticker in OC, bar none. Don’t miss it before this 40 year old store closes for good in another week.
Unreal how good this is. I thought I knew Chinese food...well I do now. So impressed. Got the sauted shrimp, shrimp egg rolls, HANDMADE noodle combination and pan fried pot stickers. Flavors so balanced that I never once needed soy sauce. Amazing!
Hole in the wall, kind of pricey but after sampling it was worth it. We had the pork fried rice, kung pow beef and mu shu pork. All were delicious.
Do not expect the place to be lit up with nice decor nor a theme that matches the name of the restaurant [ie. Alice in wonderland, Orange Hill, Shenandoah at the Arbor] What you get here are elderly chinese women taking your order & serving them with broken english. Not saying it to raze them. I'm just saying don't expect up scale service. Only thing I ever get here is the soup dumpling and beef roll. (In that order) the soup dumpling is terribly delicious. The juice squirts out and fills up your mouth like a maiden's head ;) The Family Dinner A & B option got me f up. Normally the marketing purpose is to save a few bucks if you choose that option. Option A for $55.95 you get to choose 4 items between 1-19. These dishes are selected from the regular menu up to $13.95 per dish. $13.95 x 4 dishes = $55.8 A total savings of $0.15 Being Chinese, i know they feel like they gave too much of a discount lmao Please, please, please get the soup dumplings. Well worth it. The beef roll was generous in size and beef which is perfect amount for cost. The surprise bite into the onion made it good. P.S. get the soup dumpling. Freaking juicy!!
Came here again for lunch. The inside were the same as always. I should say that everything felt the same. The foods were all great. Really enjoyed the monster beef roll. Highly recommended!
One of the best restaurants in OC! If you love authentic Chinese food, you must try this place!

This was my childhood restaurant. Didn’t go there as much after we moved to central OC, but the staff still remembers us. Went there and ordered takeout one last time on their last night of operation, Friday, October 31, 2025. Took a few business cards as a keepsake. Currently enjoying at home some of the best Kung Pao Combo (宮保三樣) I’ve ever had and will never get to have again. Farewell to a piece of my childhood! Wishing the owners a happy retirement, and THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO SO SO SO VERY VERY MUCH for serving our community for over 40 years! We will never forget you. 祝老闆們退休愉快,感謝您對 Westminster 的40多年的招待!我們永不會忘記北京小館!

Giving this place four stars AC for the family owned small business for the food quality and hospitality with requirement for sanitary improvement! From the moment we've walked it our group of four was treated with respect and seated at the Lazy Susan as requested. Large menu selection and in time cooking was a respect (note: please upgrade the menus). By far the best out of all order was Lu-ee Roll which I highly encourage you to try. We came in at 5:00 on Saturday and the place got jam packed at 6:00 by native folks (see photo) that also signals about the quality. Your place has a potential and would need some sanitary touch up to furniture and menu, however definitely won't affect our group from coming back. Kudos to owners and will see you again once in the area.
We went here for dinner. The food was ok good. We ordered the roasted beef green onions pancake and a noodles dish made with in-house noodles, which were suggested by the lady owner. We were told that both dishes were the house specials and people go there specifically for them. While they were good, we experienced better beef pancakes in Pasadena(crunchier pancakes and juicier beef). The house noodles were chewier and not as tasty as the traditional chow fun noodles. The lady was very nice and friendly. That is probably why the restaurant has high ratings. To us, the food was ok good!
Our first time there. Had the beef rolls, they were delicious. Next time we're going to try the dumplings. I didn't see the sign cash only so we weren't prepared is my only caution to share. Next time we'll bring more cash.
Good food at good price. Very good pot sticks. Generally good noodle soup. The service is okay, not expecting much anyway. We will definitely come back for more dumplings, yum~
Great Chinese dinner. More like east coast Chinese. Friendly staff, great food. Hurry in before their gone. They are selling the restaurant.
They have a really big beef roll here. Their pork green beans and their chicken veggie plate was tasty. The beef roll is bigger than what I've seen in San Gabriel Valley. The restroom isn't ideal...
A small restaurant next to the bigger Seafood Paradise with a fairly large menu of Northern China cuisine. We ordered the special lunches, $13 for meats and $15 seafood, beef with Chinese broccoli and Kungpao 3 ingredients, beef, chicken, pork. It comes with hot and sour soup. Portion was generous, very good value, especially when most Chinese restaurants dropped their loss-leader lunch specials after CoVid19. The chef is Taiwanese but he cooks authentic Northern China food, i.e. fresh, natural, no excess spices or sugar. I dined in a few renown restaurants in Beijing and like this cuisine. They won recognition from the city a few years. Will have to come back and try their crispy chicken and other specialty items.

Sadly, the owner is retiring and Peking Restaurant plans to close in less than 2 weeks from now. If I heard correctly, it will be a new owner serving Vietnamese food. Peking restaurant, is one of the OG Chinese spots in OC to get quality beef rolls since the 80s. Pretty much everything is solid here. And you definitely see regular here’s of both Asian and non-Asian backgrounds. Family is a fan of their eggplant basil dish. The owner was even nice enough to make a special menu item for my cousin’s hubby by making it with chicken instead of pork. Cash is preferred over CC. We’re going to have to go back soon to finally eat their famous handmade noodles before they close.

Food was great but wish we'd have taken it to go. No AC so made it tough to sit through a meal with 3 littles. Difficult to get refills on drinks. Most of the food served very quickly...They forgot 1 dish and asked if we still wanted it...noodles (which was ordered for the kids). Beef roll was amazing.
Dear PEKÍN RESTAURANT Management, I hope this message finds you well. I would like to respectfully bring to your attention a concern regarding the customer service experience during my recent visits to your restaurant. There is an older Asian lady who frequently attends customers but consistently comes across as very grumpy and unapproachable. Unfortunately, her attitude makes the dining experience uncomfortable, as she often appears upset and does not provide the warm, welcoming service that customers usually expect. This has not been a one-time occurrence; it has happened repeatedly. I believe excellent customer service is a big part of what makes a restaurant successful, and I truly think that with some adjustments, the overall experience at PEKÍN RESTAURANT could be even better. Thank you for taking the time to listen to this feedback. I share it with the intention of helping improve the service for all customers, as I do appreciate the food and would love to continue dining at your establishment.
I ordered their salt and pepper shrimp and it was disgusting!! I have never had salt and pepper shrimp taste like this and it cost me over $23. It was not even battered in cornstarch or anything and was wet and soggy rather than slightly crunchy.
I picked up a family dinner for 4 dishes, medium white rice, and beef green onion pancake last week. The total was $105. something, but when I checked the charges on the credit card statement, it was charged $149.30. I'm disputing the charges and will never be back to this restaurant. Make sure to keep all your receipts and check the charges as they may steal again from the customers.
