Nice and cozy atmosphere. Great coffee. Attentive staff. Enjoyable music -if you're looking for something different- every Wednesday's night with the Sunnyside Singers Club. The prosciutto panini is one of my favorites. The scallion cream cheese on a everything bagel is heaven for me. The iced teas, smoothies, iced coffee, cranberry muffin, the carrot cake and the vegan tres leches cake... OMG! I love Aubergine.
I love Aubergine Cafe!!! It's a warm and cozy neighborhood Cafe with delicious comfort food. All kinds of coffee, teas and baked goods. Right smack in the middle of Woodside, Queens (great neighborhood).
I found this place on my visit to the city and the environment was friendly and the coffee was great.
Wondeful selection of vegan muffins and cakes and they do a vegetarian Wednesday but everyday they provide a wonderful menu. Food is always fresh and beautifully presented and the owner gary is warm and welcoming as are all the staff.
My boyfriend and I love Aubergine. Their smoked turkey and Brie sandwich is my favorite and we love the coffees and pastries too!! So lucky to have them in our neighborhood!
I come for the quiche, the pastries and the cappuccino:) So gooood every single time.
My favorite spot around my neighborhood. Amazing mocha, great people and great vibe.
Very friendly, excellent food and coffee, reasonable prices. Lots of outdoor seating, some indoor seating. Definitely recommend.
Been living around the neighborhood for about 10 years and this restaurant will always have fresh Coffee! Bagels are fresh by the day, waffles are delicious, and their food is always great!
Friendly staff! I love their turkey&Swiss cheese bagel!
Absolutely in love with this place, great baked goods, everything is always fresh and delicious. The owner is the nicest person, as well as all the staff that works there.
The blueberry scone ($2.79) is amazing!... makes a great little breakfast The locations is convenient but not the cleanest. And the service (depending on who's at the register) has a tendency for the most part to be slow. Coffee is eh. but not the worst.
Wonderful selection of pastries and the espresso was delicious and served fast. Croissant-donuts looked beautiful with fun flavors but I settled for something simpler which was toasty and delicious. Pre-brunch-diva, Nat King Cole holiday, Sunday vibin'.
Great coffee and great gluten-free pastries. Very cozy and welcoming.
So many gluten free vegan pastry options! Kind service, drinks made with love! Sweet and calm atmosphere. Great prices as of Sept 2021.
Great little cozy cafe in the Sunnyside section of Queens. I had a great and plentiful avocado, salmon, and toast. It was a bit pricey, but I guess that is the price you pay for quality! Highly recommend.
A true gem of Sunnyside! You walk in this place and it’s the “where everybody knows your name” kinda vibe :) the service is quick even though they can get hit with busy coffee rushes but hey they always remember my order, which is just so very nice. They have vegan and gluten free options! They carry Oatly which is my fav non dairy bev and have really good organic soy milk 👍 I am vegan and they have soo many great pastries to choose from and the Beyond burger with vegan slaw is so good on the lunch/dinner menu! It’s so yummy👌
If you want to sit for good coffee in a quiet neighborhood Aubergine's is the best place for you. If you're into Irish music come every Wednesday night. Bring your guitar, ukelele, or just yourself to enjoy Celtic music every week. For jazz lovers come by on Sundays. This is a friendly cafe and their staff are very very accommodating. If your in Woodside stop by for coffee and dessert. This is the nicest coffee shop in the neighborhood.
This is a great little cafe in the Sunnyside/ Woodside area. The manager takes a lot of pride in the business and personally greets customers. This is a great place to work from your computer or come for lunch. They have specials a couple of nights a week with $15-$20 bottles of wine. There is a great selection of organic foods for lunch/ brunch.
Absolutely loved my chai and Tuscan chicken and I didn't have to wait long at all! Service was friendly and helpful
Their gluten free espresso fudge cookie was amazing and I love the flavor of their coffee. It's a great local hangout and staff is always helpful.
Lovely local Irish cafe in the heart of Woodside. The food is always delicious and fresh, and the staff is always friendly and makes you feel right at home. Try any of their delicious paninis and get an iced green tea latte on the side if you're in the mood for a nice cool beverage. Most nights they have a chili and beer special for $12, and there's always pastries and cakes for those with a sweet tooth, Prices are just about right.
The service was good, my waitress was incredibly sweet! I got two of the specials: berry sangria and the avocado/corn salad. I'm not a huge sangria fan but this was pretty good, a little sweet and not quite strong enough but tasty and a generous portion. The salad was really great! The chef forgot the avocado, so my waiter brought out a little sliced plate of avocado and seemed to be really embarrassed about the mishap (I really didn't think it was a big deal?). The salad was good without it. Not a huge fan of the genre of live music but it didn't interrupt conversation and was pretty good so I complaints.
One of the best breakfast options around, maybe the best of them all! Good bagels, good lattes plenty of tables you can sit in, inside and outside.
They have a great menu. A little something for everyone. It is a greata location .For people to gather. It has become a staple in our neighborhood. Aubergine s is also supportive to our neighborhood and children.
Great coffee and a wonderful food selection that includes ample vegan and vegetarian items, including some amazing pastries. Try the Stray Vegetarian Sandwich, named after Sunnyside's local vintage store, and then take your coffee to go and browse Stray's incredible selection of household goods, stationery, music, and more.
I was hoping for a great baguette sandwich place in Sunnyside, then I found Aubergine Cafe! Jambon et Fromage could be on the menu, but A+ baguettes and quality of ingredients!
Great spot to chill out and have a coffee. We went here a few times during our trip to New York and the coffee was really good. We didn’t eat, but the food looked good too. Well worth a visit.
I work from this cafe almost every Friday. The coffee is amazing, the servers are friendly and attentive. The paninis and salads are lunchtime staples but save room for dessert because their pastry selection is A+. Gary, the owner, is a delight. He has lived in the neighborhood for years and is very active in the community. They also host live music every Wednesday night - it's more jam circle than open mic but very welcoming, friendly and fun. This spot is one of the many reasons I love this neighborhood.
I love the Caesar salad. Is the best one I’ve ever had. Also the sandwiches are great and prices are very very reasonable. ❤️❤️
Great brunch experience here today. We were a group of 8 and they accommodated us really well. They had a few vegan and gluten free options on the menu which is why we picked this place. Our meals were good, even though they don’t have a kitchen. The range of baked goodies is huge. We bought some vegan and gluten free cakes on our way out. Drinks were nice too. And service was fab! The counter lady gave us a cookie on the house ! Massive fan. Thank you again.
The quality of the food is great and it’s uncommon to find regional Thai food on many Thai restaurants, yet the North Thai soup here was really nice. Shame we had to order it to go as the restaurant is cute and the atmosphere would have beaten our hotel room. Portion size was good.
If you want to enjoy great food, delicious drinks, some Irish Folk Music and soothing popular cafe music, and a rustic ambience, and a comfortable atmosphere: go and wine down at the Aubergine Cafe. Moderately priced, this cafe is my second home. It's my go to cafe. The Aubergine Cafe offers a variety of hot/iced/frozen coffee and tea drinks and smoothies, and a good selection of mouth warming, succulent, and delicious foods on their menu. For example, I did not know they had a beyond meat vegan burger at the Aubergine. I never had it. And I frequently go to this neighborhood cafe. A friend of mine was raving positively about it. So I tried it, and loved it. It was so sensational and so delicious .
Just stopped in for a coffee - should have come here sooner. Drinks were great, but everything on the menu looked tasty. Was pretty busy and popular. But they work fast.
Came here for Brunch with a friend. I got the herb and goat cheese quiche and the sausage, egg and cheese empanadas. Both delicious
I don't know why there are such harsh neg reviews here but this is my favorite neighborhood spot for years. I love the veggie options, the tuna sandwich is so good my aunt was raving about it for weeks. The coffee flavor specials are fun and I also recommend the chai, hot or iced. The vegan desserts are really good too. I love the matcha chocolate chip muffin and the poptarts.
Always it's a pleasure! I’ve been there multiple times with both friends and family and the service that we have received it's like no other one! The food and drinks are fresh and tasty.
I got the vegan rocky road brownie. I got it once and I came back to get it again. I shall return. Such a cute space and lots of vegan stuff. And also non vegan stuff!
This place deserves 10/5 stars. Delicious vegan options (especially their baked goods) and wonderful service. Their vegan tahini chocolate chip is by far the best cookie I’ve ever had and I dream of it often. I’ve never had a bad meal here.
Amazing! I've never seen such a great selection of vegan pastries and brunch options. Super tasty vegan muffin. Ice matcha late was very good (only downside was an extra charge for oat milk)
It's my fav spot in the neighborhood, I would love if they stayed open until later, but it's great anyways!
Great cafe with lots of vegan options. Coffee tasted great as well. Was not busy when we went at 9am on a Sunday, and our kid loved it too. Definitely will be back.
Awesome food and great coffee! Definitely try the seasonal menu for fun and delicious flavors - SO much better than Dunkin or Starbucks. The service is quick and all the employees are kind, every time I’ve visited. There’s no Wifi which is the only downside, so not a working cafe, but great to get a bite with a friend or get some coffee to go. I’ve had several different lattes, pastries, sandwiches, paninis and everything was delicious, never disappointed!
My girlfriend adores this place. Good coffee. Good pastries and food. Good coffee place vibes. Everyone friendly. Sometimes it can get pretty busy and packed, though, so you may not have a place to sit.
Wonderful local cafe! Great for those off skillman in sunnyside/woodside. Friendly staff, great breakfast/lunch menu and a lovely atmosphere.
Great cafe to call your own! But not just coffee... breakfast n lunch! Great food, service, n outside sidewalk tables. Go today!
Fave place in Woodside/Sunnyside. 5 stars all around! The people who work here are always smiling and are so welcoming. The food is also top notch. Let’s not even talk about the BEST Iced chai Latte EVER!! I bring ALL of my friends here. Love, love, LOVE!
Little bit of history? I've lived in this neighborhood for 25years, Skillman ave. used to be dead as a dodo until this little gem came along, I swear I credit it with every other available amenity that we now enjoy locally. It was then and is now such a gathering spot, still retains its charm, good service and great drink's ( my faves are the chocolate croissants - I almost didn't want to put that in case they gain popularity and sell out before i get mine lol). The staff seems to know everyone's name, and there is always such a good vibe. Also indoor & outdoor seating
It’s such a charming spot! Nat is a wonderful Barista, and her passion for serving delicious coffee shines through. From the rich coffee to the tasty vegan burger, scrumptious apple danish, and moist banana walnut bread... everything is simply delightful! Looking forward to trying those tempting tahini chocolate chip cookies next time. The Manager was also super sweet. If you're looking for a cozy, welcoming spot with amazing food, this is the place!
Hands down the best cafe in the neighborhood! Their coffee is always great but today I snagged their TGTG Baked goods bag and they set me up for about 2 weeks' worth of pastries. There's so much variety and it smells so good, I'm honestly excited for the next couple weeks lol. The staff is friendly and the café smells really nice. Go get one of their homemade quiches!
I’ve been here multiple times with both friends and family and they’ve given rave reviews! The food here is fresh and tasty, and they make great hot and iced drinks. The cafe itself is cozy with lots of natural light without being too bright, so it’s an excellent spot to read or write. While it is on the pricier side, I believe you’re getting what you pay for. Also checkout their too good to go page, it’s a phenomenal value and saves on food waste.
Among one of the best cafes in Sunnyside. It is a very cozy place. The food served is good. However, they do not have a standard in their coffees. Their brewed coffee and cappuccino is sometimes very good some times mediocre.
I was torn on this one. Food isn’t very good at all. But the coffee is great.
Aubergine Cafe manages to check a lot of boxes for its cozy size. Breakfast, lunch, families, singles with laptops, veggie options, waffles, panini, chili... It wears a lot of hats while keeping up the charm factor. It was a good place to take our toddler for fruit and yogurt. They nailed the ginger bread latte and the bagel hit the spot. In another area up front the laptop / coffee crowd also finds a home near big, sunny windows. I'd call it an anchor in the heart of Sunnyside. The server seemed a bit overwhelmed by the breakfast rush crowd and was less attentive. But that didn't diminish the overall experience.
Really down to earth with a great selection of artisan coffee and edibles. Plus lots of gluten free and vegan options. Crowded, but to be expected. It's a great spot.
Excellent local spot if you're in need of a strong coffee or a quick bite. They have an excellent and wide ranging pastry selection, as well as table service, if you prefer.
We love this cafe. Always a good cup of anything you ask for. Wait staff treat us like family; we come in all the time. Five stars from this guy!
Excellent neighborhood spot for coffee. They have gluten free & vegan baked goods. Slowish service for food & salad greens always seem to be borderline inedible.
Best coffee in the area. I never knew that I liked a lavender latte until they had it on the menu and I gave it a shot. Lots of bakery options (including vegan) and their sandwiches are yummy a well.
Another mystery book tour. Have never visited this part of queens. Nice, little cozy spot. Mixed neighborhood. Easy access off of GCP. Plenty of shopping
Eat in or deliver you won't be disapointed. The only problem I have is with consistency . I have ordered the same sandwich and dressing three times and have had different experience each time. They are always good but the cooks need to hard line the recipes and portion sizes.
great waffles with fresh fruit and vanilla ice cream. the coffee is good and the girls are very friendly. We sat at the window and enjoyed the street movement, while talking with the other customers!
I wish their desserts weren't so hit or miss. Sometimes they're great but other times stale or badly made. The food here has pretty much all been good. The coffee is also good here but the espresso is again hit or miss. I don't know all the factors in pulling espresso but it seems like some of the employees just do it better than others. It's just sad to enjoy a place so much but never feel confident that my espresso drink won't be a burnt waste of money.
I really enjoyed this coffee/dessert shop. Was walking through the neighborhood the other night (at 10 at night. love the hours of this place) in 30 degree weather and they had a board outside advertising hot chocolate and of course we had to grab some. We walk in and a huge dessert case is displayed and everything looked so good. I had the carrot cake and my friend has pumpkin cake. Both were delicious. Service was great but awkward. Even though my friend and I were very open and relaxed our server was like a robot. Still friendly, helpful and courteous but very stiff. Besides the great atmosphere and delicious food my one issue was it was cash only place. I had to walk a block and then back to find a ATM which is the only reason it's getting 4/5 stars.
I enjoyed my chili and tortilla chips along with lemonade, although for $10 I feel like it should be have been a bigger portion of chili than it was (it was a small cup). I met a friend there, and her avocado toast with salmon looked delicious.
I have been here many times, mostly because the food is so excellent. The servers always seem to be cheery and helpful. They have fantastic sandwiches and soups, as well as some great seasonal options. In the Fall, they offer things like stews and mulled wine, which is a total delight. My only gripe is that they do not cook eggs, which is curious given that there is a focus on breakfast items (they serve bagels and breakfast pastries). They tend to run out of bagels later on in the day, so make sure to get in there early!
Really cute cafe in Woodside. Cozy arrangement but plenty to sit and great lighting during the day. I love the magazine rack with up-to-date current event~design magazines. Food was great, really. Waiter was quick and friendly too. Just.. maybe slightly on the expensive side for what it is. Good for solo breakfasts, casual chats with a friend. Not for groups.
Food was good , chef preparers, and waiter were great, fast service . The cashier was very serious, a friendly smile is nice.
Was super excited when we moved to the neighborhood and saw this cafe. Maybe it was better pre-Covid times but my fiancé and I were unimpressed. We both ordered a sandwich—the Tuscan Chicken and Brie and Turkey—asked for the them to be warmed. They were served cold. Both of us left with belly aches. Will possibly give them another shot.
Great location. Lovely Outdoor seating. Very good vegan treat. Unfortunately very bad coffee. Hoping that was just a bad batch. Would try again, but coffee will be the decider.
The drip coffee is decent (Irving Farm roasters) and the food is decent though unremarkable. My companion order the yogurt and granola bowl and 2/3 of the fresh seasonal fruit was melon which was not expected or desired. For the number of people working on a moderately busy weekend morning they seemed to be completely at sixes and sevens with the two waitress covering about a dozen tables barely able to cope. A man, seeming the owner, was seated at one of the tables and was intervening periodically in an ad hoc manner, so it is possible the normal shift manager was out and hence the lack of organization.
Good neighborhood cafe with ok paninis but the pastries look old/stale and the coffee is alway cold.
Watery coffee. We got the Cafe mocha and the cortado and both drinks were extremely watered down. The keylime cheesecake was good though
A bit underwhelmed by the iced latte and quiche I got. Though it was a busy time of day, there was certainly more hands that could have grabbed my order as it didn’t require much effort. Also they served the quiche with a side of spring mix/balsamic which I found a bit odd.
PLEASE change your cafe's service format. Do I really need a waitress just to have a coffee drink? It didn't used to be this way. You have to have table service even if you want to sit at the counter by the window for a few minutes. It's kind of ridiculous. And yes....there's NO WiFi. Drinks (and food) are pretty good, but they're catering to the people who are spending more.
Friendly staff but the food and coffee was mediocre
Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff members. Unfortunately the coffee and pastries we got on Sunday morning were not great. The espresso drinks were very very bland - they tasted like dirty water. It was comically bad. The pastries tasted stale which shouldn’t happen on a Sunday morning.
Ambience is cozy but a capuccino here tastes like hot water.
Do not believe the menu prices provided on the link of this Google listing or any of the photos of menu here. Their prices have gone up about $3 per sandwich, and in my opinion, the sandwich with a few leafy greens aren't worth the increase. The food is good but advertising extremely outdated prices is extremely deceptive.
What started as a joyful day for my mother, wife and 10 month baby ended in a very unpleasant experience because of the owner of this place. My family went to the library for story time/singing activities for babies. After that they went to this café to eat something; while seating at the café they were watching the videos they had taken only to be told by the owner of this place that it is not allowed to watch videos there because it would disturb the other customers, really? There were only like 2 or 3 one minute videos playing in my mom's cell phone that is very outdated and is anything but loud, you could barely hear it. Unfortunately I have been to this café many times (I now regret every single penny that I have spent there) and I have heard, people speaking and laughing loudly all the time. I have also seen people playing videos on their laptops on a regular basis. It is obvious that what bother this man was not the 'noise', it was something else, would you tell us what it is? He ended up by saying that the café is not a public place and that he basically could implement any policy he wanted at any time, at least for 'some' people; keep it classy 'sir'!
A confusing and rude experience. Barista ignored me for a while then was kind of cold/snappy with me which I didn’t care about independently until it was combined with me being told I couldn’t use my laptop to work in a mostly empty venue. Or that I could but I had to stand??? Even as a former barista, one of the most baffling cafe experiences I’ve ever had. Reinforced my social anxiety. Since I live close by, I’m sad enough about it to write a review. :/
asked to remake coffee because i just wasnt fond of the syrup flavor and bro charged me another $10 and the drink came out worse& he was mean.-. very sad ab it, i spent $20 on one drink that i had to throw out..
I go in there just for a bagel with some butter. I am there over 10 min. They toast it even though I didn't want it toasted and then I get an attitude from the cook and the cashier when I ask why is it taking so long. Not to mention the bagel was stale anyway Poor service and poor food. Need to work on treating customers better or they will not make it here!
Been in almost every coffee shop in sunnyside .so, i was like lets try this place. I went there and order a medium size coffee , the medium size coffee was really small than any other coffee shop, i stood up to take a picture , for some reason i don’t if she is having a bad day or something but she was really rude .there is a plenty of good coffee shop in sunnyside . It was my first and last experience :) .
