Well I didn’t eat here.. but I did have a first-time anaphylactic reaction which led to me keeling over on their bathroom floor Saturday morning and was helped by the most lovely staff!! I am so sorry I didn’t get your name but THANK YOU for your help and calming me down!! You were amazingly kind and helpful and sincerely made everything so much better!! Next time I am in NYC this will be the first place we go! THANK YOU and sorry for the dramatic scene !!!!
They don’t take reservation and they prefer cash. Once you know this, you don’t need to complain about it. The service was the best. The waiters were professional yet they had fun with you which of course, I liked. The food was traditionally Tuscan Italian. The meal began with some fresh Italian bread and olive oil. So good start there! Our starters were an Antipasto Toscano, a generous platter of cured meats, cheeses, crostini full of Tuscan flavors and great for sharing! We also shared the Fried Mushrooms but we both felt that it was fried too much. For our mains we had the Ossobuco which went down very nicely as it was the first time she had it. And I had the Pappardelle al Cinghiale (Wild Boar Ragu) which I loved as well. The place is not that big and the tables are close to each other plus it was full but it was buzzing with a young crowd which made the ambience jolly.and lively! Food: 4.5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5
This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in New York City. Everything is incredible. You can’t go wrong here and the service is wonderful. If you don’t know what to order just ask them. What’s the best. There specials are to die for. Also, the dessert is great too very tasty. Can’t wait to go back.
Cash only exceptional Italian dishes. I had this saved on a list for a while and as we were looking for a quick bite, it popped up. The service was so exceptional. I was glad we got there right before the lunch rush because as we were leaving the place was packed. Very small, but also very welcoming and kind. I would love to eat here again. Excellent recommendations from the staff.
A True Gem in the Heart of the City: Bar Pitti I'm thrilled to share my exceptional experience at Bar Pitti, a hidden gem that I was fortunate enough to discover through regulars who frequent this restaurant at least once a week. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that this was a special place - the owner and staff greeted us with warm hugs, making us feel like old friends. A Home Away from Home Despite its small size, Bar Pitti has a way of making you feel like you're in a cozy home, rather than a bustling restaurant. The staff's genuine warmth and hospitality are contagious, and you can't help but feel like you're part of the family. As we settled in, I couldn't help but notice the regulars who were treated like celebrities - it's clear that Bar Pitti has a loyal following, and for good reason. A Culinary Masterclass But what truly sets Bar Pitti apart is its exceptional food. I started with the garden salad, which was a masterclass in balance and flavor. The fresh lettuce, grape tomatoes, and light dressing all came together to create a dish that was both refreshing and satisfying. And then, of course, there was the freshly-baked bread - which was, quite literally, to die for. I've never tasted bread that was so tender, so fluffy, and so utterly divine. Pasta Perfection But the real pièce de résistance was the pasta. I opted for the simple yet spicy penne with tomato sauce, which was cooked to perfection. And then, I added a side of pesto - which turned out to be one of the most robust and flavorful pesto sauces I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. It was like a symphony of flavors on my palate, with the pesto adding a richness and depth to the dish that elevated it to new heights. A Must-Try for Any Food Lover If you're a food lover like me, you owe it to yourself to try Bar Pitti. The service is exceptional, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the food is truly outstanding. I've already made a mental note to come back and try more of their dishes - and I'm sure I'll be back again and again. Rating Breakdown: Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Overall Experience: 5/5 Recommendation: If you're looking for a truly exceptional dining experience, look no further than Bar Pitti. Be sure to try the garden salad, the freshly-baked bread, and the pesto - and don't be afraid to ask for recommendations from the staff, who are always happy to help. And if you're a regular, don't worry - you'll be treated like family, just like the regulars who frequent this restaurant at least once a week.

Great food, ambience and service. We had Mauricio as our server and he was amazing. Will definitely be coming back when we're in New York.

We had an amazing meal at Bar Pitti! Some of the best authentic Italian we’ve had outside of Italy. Just know that it’s cash only!
Absolutely the coolest Italian place in NY. If you want to see beautiful people and eat good pasta, this is the best option in Soho. Only accepts cash but has an ATM on site.

Cozy spot, the food is amazing and well served. Its a little too expensive. Its a very small place with more tables than it should have, considering clients comfort, and it makes it very hard to have a conversation. Because its very crowded, there is a bit of pressure all the time from the waiters. I think the menu should describe the dishes.
Tucked into a snug spot with no full liquor license, Bar Pitti punches way above its weight—especially when it comes to that Negroni Sbagliato. Sparkling, balanced, and downright addictive, it was the perfect opener for our evening. Service here feels like catching up with old friends: attentive without hovering, warm without fuss. Prices for the food and wines? Refreshingly moderate—no sticker shock, just solid value. We dove into the fegato (rich, perfectly seared calf's liver) and the Milanese (crispy veal cutlet that lived up to its golden promise), both hits that left us scraping plates clean. The Sauvignon Blanc was a standout—crisp, vibrant, and spot-on. Fun fact: It's the same pour they were featuring at Marea not too long ago, so you know it's got pedigree. The only hiccup? Their basement ATM decided to dispense our cash in two batches, and in the post-meal haze, we snagged just the first. Whoever fished out that forgotten envelope owes us a round. (Kidding—enjoy the windfall, lucky stranger.)
Arrived at 4:30pm on a Monday for an early dinner. Was seated right away. Outdoor seating is available. Moderately clean facilities. Specials are written in Italian and my server had a problem translating it into English for me, but we figured it out. He didn't read the entire menu to me, just a few selected items. The olive oil for the bread was quite bitter. The meatball Appetizer was a little bland. Black truffle pasta was very good. Papardelle pasta was the Star 🌟. Veal medallions were very good too. Our 2 Servers were having an argument in the dining room which was witnessed by the other patrons. Quite expensive for a casual place. CASH ONLY. I'm giving a cautious 4 Stars because the food was good. But I noticed many bad reviews here for service, prices, and portion size.
Relaxed, cash only, loud, and slightly above average. Barely giving a 4/5. Don’t come for fine high class dining with exceptional service and you won’t be too let down. The food is good, maybe a little better than good. It’s fun in the summer or spring to sit outside and people watch while eating overpriced Italian food. Reason that I gave it a 4/5 and not a 3/5 is that I didn’t necessarily feel like it was a bad experience, it was just fairly neutral.

The food is really delicious and the wait staff is very good. They have heated seating outside now that the weather is chilly. But Yelp needs to update the prices. The pastas are at least $10 more.

Can only pay in cash and in addition they have their own ATM where you pay 3 Dollars extra to withdraw. expensive prices.
Expect to find more options on the daily list than the menu. Despite the popularity we didn’t like the food very much, ravioli was dry and lacked taste. Bruschetta and the parmesan aubergine were the only 2 dishes we enjoyed out of the 5 we ordered.
The pasta is very good, but I think the service could improve. I went at a time when it wasn't busy. I hadn't even been seated for 2 minutes and the waiter was rushing me to place my order without giving me space to choose. The payment method is cash only, which makes your experience terrible because before even ordering I had to count the money to know if I had enough to pay in cash.

Cafeteria vibes, average pasta, and an automatic tip — overpriced for the experience. I was excited to finally try Bar Pitti, but it didn’t live up to the hype. The space is extremely tight (even for NYC), and the whole experience felt more cafeteria/assembly-line than cozy Italian. Dishes came out fast but without much care. The pasta and mushrooms looked fine but tasted pretty flat. For four people, our bill was about $270, the tip was automatically added without being clearly communicated. The receipt even suggests gratuity, so it’s easy to accidentally tip twice. Just something future guests should know.
Food is good, no frills nice home cooked-Esque Italian but comes with a hefty price tag for what it is. Dinner for 2 with 2 pastas, salad and tip coming to close to $100. $26 for a rocket, Parmesan and veg salad is just ridiculous. Service was fine. Pasta was good but not what u would expect for $30. Pricing means I would not suggest to a friend.

I waited ~40 minutes in line last night at Bar Pitti, which is first come, first serve. As we reached next to be seated, the bald owner/manager deliberately seated three separate groups behind us. When I calmly and non-confrontationally said that we were ahead of those groups, he became confrontational, dismissive, and openly hostile. He then gaslit me, falsely claiming the people behind us had been waiting longer, which was objectively untrue and visible to everyone in line. To make it worse, he attempted to seat yet another couple (who were also behind us) ahead of the group in front of us. That couple actually spoke up themselves because even they knew it was wrong. Instead of correcting the situation, the owner became aggressive with them as well, creating a scene in front of the entire line. This was not confusion or a mistake. It was arbitrary, rude, and disrespectful behavior from someone who clearly abuses their position. Plenty of restaurants in NYC are busy. Very few treat customers with this level of contempt. Food aside, the front-of-house experience is hostile and unprofessional, and I will not be returning. If you value fairness or basic respect, spend your time and money elsewhere.
Bar Pitti is a very charming Italian restaurant, really well located and with a lively atmosphere that makes it a great spot to enjoy a meal. The ambience is warm and welcoming, and you’re attended by Italian servers, which adds an authentic touch to the experience. We started with bruschettas topped with prosciutto, which were excellent—simple yet full of flavor. They also brought fresh bread with olive oil to the table, a nice classic touch. For the main dishes, we tried a few different pastas. The truffle fettuccini was good, but honestly, the truffle flavor wasn’t as strong or rich as we had hoped. The carbonara, on the other hand, was excellent—creamy, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of the meal. The tagliatelle with marinara sauce was fine, though nothing particularly special. One thing to note is that the restaurant does not accept credit cards, which is quite unusual and a bit inconvenient. On top of that, an automatic 18% gratuity is added to the bill, which I personally did not like, as I prefer to decide the tip myself based on the service. Overall, Bar Pitti has great vibes, attentive service, and some solid dishes—especially the carbonara. But the payment policy and the mandatory gratuity are definitely something to keep in mind before going.
Do not go to this place. From the moment we sat down we were treated as if the staff were doing us a favor by letting us eat there. I’ve seen the other reviews praising the “fiery” atmosphere, “fast” service, and “authentic” food but our experience was the complete opposite. The entire staff came across as rude. We were rushed to order, rushed to eat, and twice they tried to clear our plates while we were still eating. While we had dessert we were being watched the entire time. They even dropped the check with a “no rush” comment right after we got our dessert. The food itself was average at best and of course an 18% service charge was automatically added to the bill. Don’t fall for the influencer hype. This place is not representative of the amazing hospitality most NYC restaurants are known for. Save your money and your energy.
