Really great food. I had the fried mixed seafood. I'd buy it again.

Best fish I have ever had in my life! I got the gulf fish which happened to be swordfish that day. I will definitely go again next time I'm in town!

Eliza’s been serving wonderful food to Baton Rouge since 2015. After a lengthy discussion w Sasha comparing/Contrasting the differences between risotto and well crafted grits I went w the mushroom and spinach risotto. This was accompanied by fried green tomatoes and perfectly grilled/seasoned shrimp which was served on top of a tangy remoulade and blanketed w a beautiful assortment of micro greens and edible flowers. Can’t wait until next time.

Love it !!! The service was great and it’s very clean ! The hamburger is juicy, the margarita is just right and the fish is fried well! It’s tucked away in a corner with a nice atmosphere. I will definitely be returning here.

I drove to Louisiana specifically to seek out southern cuisine. I left Eliza restaurant extremely satisfied. All of the seafood is locally sourced. The appetizer I’ve posted with my review is the Fried Green Tomatoes. It was delectable. The best cooked shrimp I have ever had.. and I’m from the northeast. The flavors were balanced and it was a fantastic way to start a meal. For entrees we got shrimp and grits and the Eliza crab cakes. Almost to die for. The crab cake is full of huge crab chunks. Not any fillers. Just straight up crab.. and a lot of it. Seasoned to perfection. Paired with corn and hand cut fries. An appetizer and two incredible entrees. And their prices are fair. Nothing too crazy or unaffordable for a nice meal. My service was excellent. She was enthusiastic, polite, attentive. All of my food came out faster than expected. This place.. amazing. A true gem. Thank you for such a great first meal in Baton Rouge.

One of our new favorites in Baton Rouge! They have gluten free fried seafood which was a big plus and the shrimp and grits were perfect.

The food was absolutely delicious. The crab cakes were to die for. Our server was so kind and most informative. We were passing through on a girls trip and we definitely be stopping for lunch on our way back to airport.

Great food. I’m celiac and allergic to shellfish so it’s hard to find places that are this accommodating. The staff is friendly and the food is worth every penny. I’ll be back for sure.

We came in for a late lunch before our 5 hr drive back to North Texas. Very happy with our stop. A quick friendly waiter and a nice outdoor patio... Wife and i both got gumbo with a side of greens, both was very good. Daughter got fried catfish with crawfish etouffee. She loved it, and we agreed. Oh yeah we got fried green tomatoes for appetizer, with a slice of icebox lemon pie for dessert. At 65.00 for 3 was not a little pricey but good.

One of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at in the south. The crab cakes and gumbo are to die for. Don’t sleep on the pimento cheese balls either. The service and atmosphere are great. Yummy cocktails.

Absolutely love eating at Russell's place! I wish I could go more often. Tried this fish sandwich for the first time last week and was not disappointed. Crispy fillet, perfect bun, fresh tomato and arugula and of course the sauce gribiche was made perfectly. Thanks again Russell! Reel coming soon on Instagram @ GeauxBatonRouge Dave

Really hits all the wonderful notes of authentic New Orleans food without being overly rich and heavy. Owner/chef has experience at Commander's Palace, and that experience is not only evident in the flavors and execution of the plates served, but also in the friendly, knowledgeable customer service. Most excellent place! They're currently celebrating 1 year.

So romantic and delicious food. Husband had the shrimp and grits. I had the thick pork chop with maple glaze on grits and collard greens. We each ordered a biscuit too. The food was incredible and locally sourced. We tried risotto and collard greens for the first time because we trusted the chef and the quality of the ingredients. The only negative is the place is very small. It is quite cozy.

11-20-23 Lafayette/Opelousas residents came out to try this spot because we were in the area. We came around 12:30. There was no wait. Our waitress Madison was really awesome. The food? It is what EVERY GREAT REVIEWS states of it! We tried 2 appetizers; both 5/5! 1. Fried eggplant 2. Fried catfish Our entrees were very yummy, too! I just wish that I had ordered the chicken fricassee!! 1. 5/5 Chicken fricassee had a very savory, well-seasoned, prepared with love taste. 2. Fish paneered meal was tasty! There were fried cubed potatoes, but this dish would have been so much better with mashed potatoes or scalloped potatoes! It also came with brussel sprouts! 3. Carrot cake: this was the best carrot cake mini loaf I have ever tried. 5/5 Great icing, too!!!

Eliza was fantastic. The dishes are appropriately balanced, and the flavors are both Cajun and New American. We got the crawfish crepe, paneed fish and crab cakes (and dessert). Service was exceptional - Madison helped us pick dishes that were both heavy and light, seasonal and frequent favorites. As a traveler only in town for a night, it was exactly what I needed. $180 after tax and gratuity for 2 people.

What a diamond in the rough. Charming, quaint, adorable outdoors patio area, and a crisp, clean, chic interior. I was genuinely surprised by the elevated Louisiana Cuisine presented here. I was impressed with their commitment to support local Louisiana businesses and even shout then out on the menu as their local sources. The waitress was polite and exceedingly knowledgeable about the menu. She also told us about a Mardi Gras themed cocktail available. Though I don't drink, it sounded like something that would be enjoyable to others. She also told us about the soup and dish of the day, both of which sounded phenomenal, but I had already made up my mind. The catfish was actually catfish (which, as you may know some businesses use tilapia or other cheap fish instead). It had one of the best shells I have tried. I had mine with lemon wedges and some stone ground horse radish infused mustard which somehow improved on what I already believed to be perfection. The gumbo only gets 4 stars from me. It was flavorful, and the popcorn rice was a nice addition, but I felt the ratio of rice to gumbo was a bit much and that I didn't really get much chicken or sausage.

Dinner at Eliza in Baton Rouge felt like stepping into a quietly elegant celebration of Southern hospitality—warm, thoughtful, and deeply delicious from start to finish. We began with drinks that set the tone beautifully: a Watermelon Gimlet—fresh, fragrant, and perfectly balanced—and a crisp, subtly spiced Basil Cucumber Mule Mocktail in a copper mug. Later in the evening, a smooth Espresso Martini brought just the right note of indulgence. The Soft Shell Crab Gnocchi was a standout—perfectly crisp and golden, served over pillowy gnocchi with Lake Pontchartrain blue crab, brightened by pesto cream and sauce vierge. The Chicken Paillard was equally lovely: tender, pan-sautéed chicken with crispy potatoes, Creole mustard sauce, and a peppery arugula salad that brought everything into balance. Dessert was a perfect finale: a light, tangy Lemon Ice Box Pie with a buttery graham cracker crust and just a touch of hazelnut syrup—simple and satisfying. The setting itself is a study in understated charm—refined but never fussy. Polished wood tables, bentwood chairs, and candlelight create a soft, intimate glow, while the walls are anchored by a striking print from John James Audubon’s Birds of America—specifically, Plate 217: Louisiana Heron. This exquisite illustration—delicate in form and poised in presence—is more than décor; it echoes the restaurant’s spirit: graceful, locally rooted, and quietly elevated. And while the food and ambiance were exceptional, it was Amya’s warm, gracious service that truly made the experience memorable. She was intuitive and kind, attentive without ever interrupting the rhythm of the evening—a rare and welcome gift. Eliza is the kind of place that understands what makes a meal linger in your memory: not just what’s on the plate, but how it’s served, where it’s enjoyed, and the thoughtful touch behind it all. We can’t wait to return.

We sat outdoors for our business lunch under perfect weather. Food and service were excellent! My coworker had to change our reservation multiple times due to some unexpected changes and the hostess was very understanding and accommodating. One of my favorite places in Baton Rouge and a must return. I had the fried seafood dish, by far the best fried seafood batch I have had anywhere in a long time! Fried oysters was done perfectly. The light batter was just the perfect amount with enough crunch and flavor. Will definitely return when I am back in Baton Rouge!

The crab dip appetizer was incredible and the entrees we got were good, but the gumbo was not good. The service was great, as was the atmosphere. Would recommend coming here and I will likely come back, but I wish the food was more consistently great throughout the menu.

We started with the crab dip and it was outstanding. Most of the main dishes were enjoyable, even though one item did not quite meet the same level. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere made the visit relaxing and pleasant. I would still recommend stopping by and plan to return, hoping to explore more of the menu next time.

We found the Eliza Restaurant to be a wonderful find. The atmosphere is casual upper end with great decor. The outdoor area is very nice as well. They have a varied menu with very tasty food. My wife loved the fried catfish appetizer and the soup and salad were excellent. Our server was excellent offering suggestions and very attentive.

friend of mine brought me here for a friend date. This is a great Creole restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere. The server was very attentive and felt like he wanted to make sure we had a great experience. The food was phenomenal! I’m not much of a crab dip person, but the blue crab dip was amazing. I had the steak and my friend had the fish and we both got dessert. beer in the area I want to try some good creole food definitely give Eliza a try.

I just ate my first meal from eliza’s And it was outstanding. Living in south Louisiana my whole life I know that fried seafood cooked properly is not easy to find and I consider it a form of art when it is. These guys nailed it and the freshness of the ingredients was apparent as well. Great job guys and don’t change a thing. Super friendly service and delicious house made tarter sauce. I will be back to try lots more on the menu.

First time dining at Eliza. Creative menu with off-menu specials; my spouse had grilled speckled trout (off-menu item) and I selected crab cakes from the menu - both properly prepared and attractively presented. Good wine list. Attentive, capable, yet not intrusive service - thank you Somer.

I visited with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday. The waitress was very attentive to our table throughout the night. The food was delicious. I ordered the shrimp and grits. Definitely recommend that dish. This will be one of my new go to places in town.

Wish I could keep it a secret! Best "little restaurant" in town! Great service, good drinks, delicious food! Try the app with the grilled shrimp over fried green tomatoes! Their version of a Shrimp Remoulade! Good salads, fresh ingredients, nice sides, something for everyone! A must try! Can be busy at times, due to its size, but they handle it well. Also nice shaded patio area in front of the restaurant.

Exceptional is going beyond expectations. I have been a consistent patron of Eliza for two years, during my finite stay in Baton Rouge. Eliza's has been the only place in Louisiana (Baton Rouge specifically) that catered to my gluten free restrictions. Yet, they went above and beyond for my graduation lunch. There was one guest in attendance that is vegan. The chef went to the local farmer's market the morning of the event and purchased the ingredients for a colorful and flavorful vegan dish creation. My vegan guest raved about the dish and offered samplings of the dish to other guests in my party. The owner only guaranteed me that they would create a vegan dish and they not only delivered but exceeded. Thank you, Eliza for making my graduation lunch a success. My heart was glad because my guests, who all traveled from states far away to see me receive my Juris Doctorate, were pleased.

Eliza is a hidden gem of Baton Rouge and features exquisite modern cuisine for South Louisiana palates. My experiences there having the fish sandwich and fresh the redfish with risotto make me want to come back and try the whole menu. Chef's kiss.

Been here 5 times now & each time the food has been great. Fried Green Tomatoes were done perfectly and had fried shrimp & house made sauce on top of each was good as well. Bowl of Gumbo tasted really good also.

What a delightful surprise! We were here during Restaurant Week so prices were even better. The server was extremely knowledgeable regarding what was GF and clarified that the fryer was used for other items with breading so wasn't safe for those with celiac. I had Gumbo Ya-Ya that had fabulous flavors and my daughter had the Mixed Salad with goat cheese, pecans, etc. We had shrimp and grits as a main course, and it was delicious. Desserts were very reasonably priced. We had the Banana Pudding, but had to take it to the hotel for later. Too full from dinner. Excellent experience and highly recommend.

This is my wife's favourite restaurant in Baton Rouge as they do gluten free so well. She loves the catfish fingers and crab cakes that are gluten free. Her favourite dish is the shrimp and grits. The burger is a large portion with great flavour according to my father-in-law. I've enjoyed the soft shell crab as well as the bone-in pork dish. The crawfish and spinach dip is very tasty. I know this will become a regular date night once we get moved to Baton Rouge.

Went on Black Friday. Was still full from thanksgiving, so my wife and I ordered the crab and corn bisque and the Eliza House Salad. Fantastic. I highly recommend both items. The service was impeccable and our waiter kept us entertained with his wit and humor. We normally skip desert, but could not resist the banana pudding and strawberries and cream. To die for. Superb meal, great atmosphere, and excellent service made for a great evening. Have to return to try the crab cakes. Fine dining at its best, I highly recommend Eliza as a great place to dine.

Loved everything about this place. The food was well balanced and fresh. You can taste all the flavors as described on the menu. The server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The drinks were delicious and innovative. The atmosphere is clean, comfortable, and inviting. They are doing Louisiana southern fare with delightful variation. I had the fried green tomatoes and the crawfish crepe. My drinks were the Rougie piquant and the bastille margarita. For dessert, the goat cheese cheesecake and banana pudding. I enjoyed it all. Yum!

One of my go-to’s for a nice dinner out in Baton Rouge. In my opinion, this is one of the best restaurants in Baton Rouge and is underrated. I’ve been here many times, and maybe only once or twice was a bit of a miss. I love a rotating menu; I feel like it’s a testament to the seasonality of the fresh, local ingredients. Some favorites have been the ragu, blue crab dip, an arugula, strawberry, and shrimp salad, oyster toast, and the gnocchi. They also have good cocktails.

P
Peter Duffield

I’m not one to hesitate from giving a thumbs down whenever something is awry. But when credit is earned, it should be given. This place has class! IMO, it would be an excellent choice for impressing your special someone or your in-laws whenever they’re in town. The menu is very authentic with moderate pricing. It’s not a Fast Food joint. So you’re going to pay for the quality that you will surely receive. It has a very sheek, quiet, cozy and welcoming atmosphere with low-key live music on certain nights. The food is excellent as well as the service. It also has a great location which is not too far from old Hammond and Jefferson as well as Interstate 1-12. This restaurant is one to add to the favorites list!

My wife and I decided to try here for the first time last night after wonderful reviews were posted by others. The staff was wonderful, and the food was delicious from the appetizer through dessert. I would recommend it to anyone and especially to those like my wife, who has Celiac, with a gluten allergy. We definitely will be returning. We have since made multiple return trips. EVERYTHING HERE IS GREAT!

The atmosphere was great the restaurant was beautiful the service was excellent the food was awesome and very unique; it has a fancy twist on Creole cooking. I'm from Louisiana and I've been living here my whole life and have never seen a restaurant like this in the Baton Rouge area. It's' really fantastic and I recommend if you're passing through to try it! It's very quaint but elegant at the same time. It also has outside dining on the patio. Thank you Mandy for making my birthday dinner so special! I will be back ;)

I was a bit nervous coming In because everything was a bit higher in price but OH MY GOSH IT WAS WORTH IT! every price on that menu is accurate for how good the flavors are!!! My sister and I are gluten intolerant and we had no issues here with what was labeled gluten free! We tried the fried catfish fingers and the risotto that our lovely server Riley recommended and we will be back for the wonderful service and the wonderful flavors!!!

Gluten free plates were devine. The catfish was cooked to perfection. Shrimp and grits so creamy and clean. All the food is sourced and cooked with finesse. Gluten free plates are prepared and cooked in there own fryer and grill so no cross contamination for celiacs like myself. My 6 year old daughter gobbled up her catfish. Couldnt ask for more. Service was personable and so friendly.

The food here is pricey, but great. The crab cakes were possibly the best I've had and the fish was perfect. The atmosphere was hip and overall this is quite a great place for a 1st date or a 100th.

Beautiful meal. Very well thought out flavors and textures. Fresh as in just picked out of the chef’s personal garden. I have never had a risotto this good. I won’t spoil the surprise flavor profile but its phenomenal. Fried green tomatoes that are gluten free, celiac safe. I almost cried. A horseradish cream sauce on fried oysters that was not overwhelming. THE CRAB CAKE!! Plump sweet crab without being over seasoned so you can taste the richness. Would happily drive another 16 hours to have this meal again 10/10.

This local restaurant seems to offer a blend of New Orleans-style food but with a unique contemporary twist. The atmosphere is both clean and inviting. The owners stress locally-sourced and high quality ingredients. The first time I went was to try out their Weekly 3-Course Menu (offered Monday to Wednesday) which was about $30. I was impressed and felt I received value for my money. I will make this restaurant a regular choice from now.

I think this place is very underrated! They have a quaint little patio to sit on, with umbrellas, which is always enjoyable. Also, every single cocktail I've ordered from here is delicious. Their new fall cocktails are wonderful. I've always loved the food I've gotten, too! Great place to hangout with friends, or grab a workday lunch, or even just drinks. I typically recommend this place to people looking for suggestions, because I think this area gets overlooked sometimes! Definitely try Eliza out if you haven't been yet.

Gluten free fried seafood! Need I say more? When's the last time you've had that? And it was delicious and fresh. Our family had the seafood platter, crab cakes, shrimp and grits - all gluten free. My son had the oyster pasta dish and said it was amazing. The service was great. Thank you, Mandy, for calling me back and Madison for the great service!

My wife and I enjoyed a quiet dinner together at Eliza recently. The dishes were of exceptionally high quality. It was just delicious! Creole but without being over seasoned as so often happens. I was quite surprised to enjoy such fare for a ridiculously low price. I've paid twice as much recently for far less skillful executed and satisfying food. The atmosphere of the dining room is cozy and refined. If the wait staff had been a bit more attentive to details(don'tbreak out the windex to clean fingerprints off of the glass while customers are dining), I would have suspected i was dreaming instead of experiencing reality. That aside, if you haven't made time to enjoy this rarely available and affordable gem of a restaurant, well, you should.

V
Vincent Morebucks

The food here is phenomenal, and I really enjoyed their interpretation of certain Louisiana and dishes. They're gumbo was actually quite lovely, even though I didn't see any feeling or okra. The wait staff was incredibly polite and very attentive without being overbearing. There is a gorgeous, massive picture of what appeared to be a blue egret that was absolutely lovely to admire while he waited on our food. My only real complaint is that despite the relatively small number of guests, it felt like our food did come a little slower than we would have liked. Other than that, absolutely phenomenal restaurant. Great place to take someone for a birthday or mother's Day or something like that especially if you want to do something fancy for them.

The food was, bar none, the best we’ve had in Baton Rouge. Our daughter, who was visiting from New York, said this is the only restaurant she wants to make sure she eats at every time she comes home. Absolutely everything we tried was fresh and delicious. From the liver pâté to the blue crab dip, every dish was outstanding—we were literally scraping the plates. As Louisiana natives, we can confidently say the fried catfish was perfection, and the fried oysters were just as impressive. The duck confit handmade pasta tasted incredibly fresh and elevated the entire meal. The ambiance was superb—the music selection was spot-on, and the cocktails and wine list were excellent. A 10/10 rating for this place. We can’t wait to keep coming back and trying something new each time.

Eliza!!! This restaurant blew me out of the water. Tonight was just a random Google search for a new place to eat and I landed on this GEM!!! The blue crab cheese dip was phenomenal, great flavor... I also had the crab cakes for my entree, OH my goodness, these were spectacular. The breading was light, and you could taste the crab immediately. Definitely will be back again to eat here. If you haven't tried it, you should.... You are missing out. 💕

Eliza was wonderful! The inside of the restaurant is decorated so beautifully, the music is relaxing, and the food was wonderful. Nice spot. Very clean. Food was something I would have to try again. I got the crab cakes. A bit more breading and filling than I usually like, but some may like the concept. I think I’ll give it another shot and get something else because it had promising qualities. The outside area was adorable.

On our way to Vegas from Florida and our trip brought us through Baton Rouge. Travelling with my son who has Celiacs is often trying to find restaurants with GF options. So, while driving, my son Googled different local restaurants who could accommodate his dietary needs. Eliza Restaurant & Bar was at the top of the search. We did our cursory research; GF options, atmosphere, and price. We decided to "give it a go". I opted for 2, less expensive, menu items and my son hit for the stars with the pricier option. I had the fried green tomato with shrimp appetizer and a Eliza House Salad while my son chose the crab cake lunch. The house salad boasts homemade croutons which could have used more seasoning and the salad was overdressed but fresh and tasty. The fried green tomato and shrimp appetizer was served with a hint of a spicy Cajun dressing. It was perfectly seasoned and topped with micro greens. Excellent! The crab cake lunch was a hearty portion of lump crab meat served with a spicy sauce but not overpowering the crab cake. Also serve with fries and a corn salad. Eliza Restaurant & Bar was an excellent choice for good fresh food made I'll be in a little tweaking needs to happen and $32 for two crab cakes is on the price your side so be prepared. If we ever have the opportunity to come back through Baton Rouge Louisiana we will make it a point to stop at Eliza's and enjoy lunch again.

Want to hear about a top tier craft burger? It’s at Eliza for lunch! I love telling people about this place! First for the appetizers... The fried green tomatoes had grilled shrimp with a pink remoulade that had a perfectly balanced flavor. The fried fish was a hit, with a tangy homemade tartar sauce. Ketchup was also on the side. But the knockout went to the cochon de lait pulled pork nachos with a béchamel sauce, over homemade potato chips. WOW My burger was cooked perfect medium, and it was so juicy, I was impressed. A large patty with fresh veggies, and a toasted bun, made it complete. I got the Brussels sprouts on the side, which were roasted with diced bacon. I got to try the corn maque choux. Wow The burger was only $12, and is higher quality and value than curbside. I will be back !!!

Eliza French bistro. We attended The Bastille Day dinner July 14, 2024. Everything was very nice; However the 4 simple courses were pricey for this set menu $60. Recommend their regular dishes over the set menu. The ambiance is great!

We made a reservation and got seated as soon as we checked in. Service was good but food took a while to come out. It was a little disappointing that there was no bread or anything to snack on before receiving our appetizers. The place is small and feels cramped, with maybe 8 tables in total and medium-low lights. We first ordered a small cup of the soup of the day to share in case we didn’t like it. The soup was lackluster, we added salt but it was still missing something. However, our entrees were great. I had chicken paillard and my boyfriend had the pork chop. My dish had the perfect balance of flavors and was exquisite. I’ve never had the dish before and it tasted light, fresh, unique and healthy, but still very filling. My boyfriend’s pork chop was thick, juicy, and full of flavor. It was served with grits and some vegetables on the side. Overall, the entrees are a winner and we’d visit again just for that.

alright, let's start with the vibe of this place! great mood lighting, beautiful art, and a great ambiance. we had the shrimp and watermelon salad, gumbo ya ya, chicken paillard, eliza crab cakes, and crème brûlée. Personally i didn't love the flavor of the gumbo broth, but i haven't had gumbo many times prior. The salad was beautiful but had too much arugula and not enough dressing, walnuts, watermelon, and feta. the eliza crab cakes were phenomenal. the crème brûlée was stunning but sadly not thick enough. service was great and our waitress was wonderful! i really enjoyed the basil cucumber mule mocktail, it was refreshing and light.

N
Neil

Nice environment, competent waiter and clearly fresh ingredients prepared with care. My only 2 issues were pricing, which seemed somewhat ambitious, and the gumbo, which was, in my mind, while tasting okay, unforgivably thin and appeared to be an oversight. Carrot cake was very good, hopefully made in house, because if it wasn't, I'd like to know where I can get some!

The food was okay. But their customer service and drinks are EXCELLENT! We weren't happy with a dish, but didn't say anything. We only said we didn't want a box for it. They comped us the dish anyway and without telling us. Dishes and service 10/10. Food 7/10 -- Be ready for a more French/European style of cooking unlike us and I'm sure the experience will be 10/10!

The Lamb Meatballs topped with Taziki sauce was an excellent choice of appetizer. On the downside, the Gumbo Yaya was a huge disappointment. The gumbo lacked flavor. Even adding salt and hot sauce did not help. The pan'eed speckled trout was delicious topped with grilled shrimp. The crab cakes were large, with little to no filler. This was a pleasant surprise. When we arrived at 11:30a there was no one in the dining room, but some on the patio. When we left, the dining room was packed. I would suggest reservations.

Brian the server and young architect: My wife and I have worked in fine dining, Ruth's Chris and Brennan's, New Orleans; most servers find a way to irk me and disappoint. Brian's service was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and friendly without getting in the way of our date. Food: You can scarcely complain about any of the creole and New Orleans fusion served at Eliza; we have been loyal in particular for the gluten free fried seafood. For such a high quality place, however, I was disappointed to learn they are still using the industrial biproduct, "vegetable" oil, in their fryer instead of beef tallow or at least refined peanut oil (which does *not* cause allergic reactions). I selfishly hope Eliza's can commit to clean oils in their kitchen, so they can once again be our go-to for fried seafood and perfect destination to show out of town friends a refined but casual experience of excellent south Louisiana fare.

We are visiting Baton Rouge, and I was so excited to try the gluten free fried seafod platter! I was slightly disappointed that there was so much breading on it. But the seafood and fish was fresh and sweet, once I got some of the breading off. My husband had the baked Gulf fish, and it was delectable! The service was excellent!

The service was amazing. Restaurant decor was good, very cozy with a bit of flair. Most of our food was great, the grilled fish and risotto were amazing. The rabbit and gnocchi were great as well. My wife ordered the fried fish plate which was so-so, the breading didn't have any spice or flavor. The fish and oysters were good and very fresh, but the shrimp tasted a little off. We ordered the fried green tomatoes which had shrimp as well and it also tasted off, and the remoulade had way too much mustard in it. Overall I was impressed, but those two dishes with the shrimp weren't great. That coupled with the eye watering prices would make me skip this place if I had it to do over again.

I really had high hopes for this place after seeing one of their dishes in a magazine. It is a fancier type atmosphere prices accordingly. I do not mind paying for quality i prefer quality to quantity any day. But overall I was let down on our first trip here. The food all looked great and presentation was nice I will give them that. The fried green tomatoes appetizer was very good though the remoulade type sauce on it was a bit on the sour side for me especially going on an already tangy vegetable. The shrimp on top were big and cooked perfectly. I ordered the fried seafood platter with all 3 items fish shrimp and oysters for 25 dollars. I was very disappointed in just about all of it. The catfish had a very muddy fishy dirty flavor that allot of places that serve catfish have but the good places have clean tasting catfish, this place was on the bad side of that but not the worst I've ever had. The oysters were very small and also had a strong fishy dirty taste unlike oysters I get from other places that I frequent, and the fries were soggy and tasted just like the oysters and somehow even more of a fishy smell and taste to the fries. The shrimp were good, the coleslaw was just ok. Their tatar sauce was also not to my liking. I am much more pleased with I get at other places for around 17 bucks with much better seafood My girlfriend got the eggplant and crawfish pasta. It tasted ok but was very dry not much of any sauce on the noodles. The eggplant was way undercooked and the crawfish tails had to be chinese , they were super tiny and hard as rocks kinda rubbery with no flavor. For 17 dollar pasta dish we were highly disappointed I cannot believe they use chinese crawfish tails or if they arent chinese they are the tiniest ove ever seen come from Louisiana. Over all after tip it was 70 bucks for lunch for less than mediocre food, maybe we ordered stuff they aren't their best dishes but we maybe may not return for another attempt. In all honesty I have had much better meals with similar food at casual style seafood and poboy shops with just as big if not bigger portions. I also ordered a dirty martini on their 1.50 happy hour and it tasted like an entire glass of olive juice with a splash of gin. It wasnt the worst meal I've ever had but not near satisfied from a sort of place this is supposed to be

Lovely atmosphere. Somer was a great waitress. Food is bland. I ordered crab 🦀 cakes, and they were okay. There were multiple fine pieces of shell inside the crab cakes.

My wife and I had dinner there at on Friday the 9th. Our waitress Hailee B gave us menus and took our drink order. When she came back she asked if we wanted any appetizers we didn't and she asked for our dinner order. I told he we haven't had time to look them menu over yet. She came back a few minutes later to take our order again and we gave it to her. Everything felt rushed with getting our order. It was our first time eating there and would have been nice to have more time to look the menu over. I had the crab cakes with corn masque choux with some potatoes. It was very good. My wife had the seafood platter and she said it was ok. While we were eating I heard another waiter telling 2 tables next to us the specials of the night. Our waitress didn't tell us there were specials on the menu to consider for our meal. Restaurant had a nice atmosphere.

I guess this just wasn't my kind of place. It was OK, but for the quality of food and atmosphere, I would've expected to walk out paying about a third less than what I did. Party of five, and 8 drinks total with dinner plus appetizer, and left with my pocket about $300 lighter including tip. Not that bad if it was a nicer place. But I've paid less per person with drinks at Ruth's Chris, Louisiana Lagniappe, and elsewhere and enjoyed the food and atmosphere more. I just didn't get all the hype about this one, but maybe it was just me.

The service was great, but the food was not good. Everything was extremely bland - even horseradish and remoulade sauces were bland. The food didn't seem fresh - tomatoes were overripe and mushy. Catfish was passed off as flounder. I'm not from the area, so unsure of what else it has to offer; however this place was not up to my flavor standards. Lovely atmosphere, service, and presentation, so I really wanted to like the food - maybe we caught them on an off day. Also, the women's restroom should have a hands-free trash bin - very unappealing to eat in a restaurant with a restroom that requires patrons and staff to touch the lid of a trashcan to dispose of a hand towel after hand washing.

Super disappointed. I had heard good things. Everything was super slow and the restaurant was not busy. I ordered the grilled fish and found out 10 minutes or so later that they were out of that fish and substituted another. Another while later it came out. The risotto was gummy and salty and the fish was o er salted the first few bites but then I had two SUPER salted bites. So salty that it made me not want anything else my tongue feels burned and it was never that hot to begin with. They did take it off my bill. The server was good and the soup was very good. I will give it another shot and will update my review then.

This place was 50/50. Some dishes were really good, and some were not at all. We enjoyed the Caesar salad and gulf fish entree a lot, but the catfish appetizer was a bit fishy and the oyster appetizer was not palatable at all. The soup du jour was a rainbow carrot soup that tasted like melted clay. Overall, although they have some delicious items, I wouldn’t return and I think it is slightly over priced.

Reviews rate this higher than our experience. The fried shrimp was delicious and service was good, but most of our food was bland. The fried green tomatoes were soggy, the crab cake and catfish had no taste. Very surprising and expensive experience based on what we thought we would get.

Lamb Meatballs were the best thing on the menu. The gumbo roux was too dark and did not taste good. Crab cakes were ok. There are more things on the menu that may be better but we won't be back to try.

I don't know what kind of taste buds or palates you Baton Rougeons have to give this place a 4.7 rating. But obviously it's pretty plain where you don't know the difference that there is better and you're getting robbed. I went in Saturday night for take out to try something new and basically I'd realized at work when I get off it'll be too late to get what I need to cook. So going off Google's best take out places in Baton Rouge and seeing that this restaurant is not far from my apartment. With its high rating I decided to go. I mean nice staff. The issue is not them it's the bland food for expensive price that they give you light weight portions. I ordered fried oyster pasta .😒 when I picked up my to go order it felt light, I even commented to the bartender you're sure this is for me. I'm sure glad I decided an appetizer to go with that. I worked all day and not eaten, and thought I'd be in for a treat and filling here of something tasty and fulfilling. I was dead wrong. 29 bucks for what I could've better cooked myself at least for that little portion. Like 18 bucks for 3 fried tomatoes with 2 shrimps- ooh... Highway robbery. Never again.

SHAMEFUL! This was my absolute favorite restaurant and catered to my health issues and dietary restrictions brilliantly for the last three years. I live in Houston. This is the only restaurant I eat at when I come into town over the last three years I have made almost everybody. I know go to this restaurant to try it. Well, I went in on Tuesday, 21 October and was completely shocked at the entire experience. I drove from Houston to eat here 5 1/2 hours. I drove an additional hour to pick up my dad one way and then drove an hour to the restaurant so that I could have my favorite thing. I usually order multiple dishes and take it with me so that I have food wherever I’m at that can accommodate my restrictions. We showed up on the day that they changed their menu which was a huge letdown because they did not change one or two things almost the entire menu of things that I could eat has been changed somewhere completely taken off some. They changed the recipe, but here’s how it went. My dad ordered a margarita. I ordered a water. We ordered the fried green tomatoes. They were pretty good as usual. We both got the seafood platter. They have substituted the crabcake that used to come with it and now you get fried oysters I asked them for the crab cake because oysters is one of the things I’m allergic to my dad bit into them. They were tiny. they were soggy and they had no flavor. . I bid into my crabcake which was bland I mean, absolutely no taste whatsoever. The only taste was the couple of bell peppers that were in it where it used to be full of fresh veggies. The fish tasted like it came straight out of the water onto my plate, not a lick of seasoning, not even salt. Same with the shrimp my dad did not enjoy his either. It had no flavor.. THIS CREOLE RESTAURANT DOES NOT CARRY OR MAKE COCKTAIL SAUCE! And, they were out of horseradish. Good service would’ve meant somebody going to get it. After speaking to the manager Who acted like she could care less and also speaking to our waitress Victoria, nobody seemed to care ( I was given multiple reasons. It was a new menu. I asked if the cooks were new because I’ve never experienced this restaurant with food having zero flavor. They said it was a new recipe. Maybe I got new flour. I’m assuming she meant it wasn’t seasoned right I have no idea what happened. Nobody could give me an answer. The food was horrible. Nobody was able to answer for anything so we decided to order two different meals. I now tried the shrimp and grits that I’ve had many times before even though it’s drowned in butter, I asked for the butter sauce on the side, only to find out even that has been changed, but now I’m down to pretty much nothing I can eat at the restaurant so I order the shrimp and grits lo and behold not an ounce of flavor just so happens. The lady sitting next to me said she ordered the shrimp and grits and couldn’t eat it it had no flavor either. we both left disappointed, hungry, and still had to pay $120 plus my dad was nice enough to tip this girl $25 on the card and an additional cash tip and the reason I’m even putting that out there is because the waitress Victoria actually said to my face after huffing and puffing that she was tired because she was waiting on us and we asked too much . I really hope someone informs Victoria I know she’s new but when you were a waitress that requires you to wait on tables and I just want to note that we’re only two of us there meaning two tables. Just in the last month because I’ve had to come back for a sick family member I’ve spent at least $600 at this restaurant on just about three visits. Last week I ordered a bloody Mary they had nothing to put in it meaning no celery no string bean she put one olive. She said she didn’t really know how to make a bloody Mary, which was odd because it’s louisiana I told her lemon juice, horseradish, the olive and the tomato juice would suffice. There were so much horseradish I almost had to chew it. Do yourself a favor and seriously think twice about going here esp for the price of this food.
