One thing that really stands out is the killer pricing. I mean, you get these incredible flavors without emptying your wallet. It's the kind of place where you can have a satisfying meal without worrying about breaking the bank. Now, let's talk about the food itself. Holy moly, it's the real deal! Every dish I've tried here brings me straight to the heart of Hunan. The [dish name] is like a flavor explosion in your mouth - spicy, aromatic, and packed with tender meat and fragrant spices. And don't even get me started on their [dish name] - it's a perfectly balanced medley of flavors that'll make your taste buds jump with joy. Portion sizes? They're huge, my friend! You'll leave with a happy, satisfied belly, no doubt about it. These folks know that bigger is better when it comes to portions, and they deliver!
We enjoyed the flavorful Hunan dishes there. Our favorites were the ribs, chili and pork stir fry, and dry pot. The herbal drink goes perfectly with the spicy food!
Very authentic and the taste is excellent. Not too salty and spicy. Authentic as well.
This is so delicious! I haven't had authentic Chinese food like this in a long time. The dishes are really flavorful, and my favorite is the stir-fried yellow beef!Highly recommended!
The food here was absolutely delicious! The soup was a bit on the sour side, but it actually paired really well with the bamboo shoots and still tasted great. Although the restaurant is supposed to close at 8:30, we went in around 8:15 and had no trouble ordering. It’s really close to AMC, so it’s the perfect spot to fill up before catching a movie. Super satisfying and definitely recommend!
Truly a hidden gem!!! Once I discovered this restaurant, i went back to eat there a few days later. There are so many dishes that I can't wait to try. The mapo tofu is numbingly addictive. The cabbage & pork dish was perfect in it's simplicity, while the pork belly with preserved veggies and steamed buns was a nice little treat. The service is fast and the wait staff are friendly and attentive. The interior of the restaurant is really cute with chinese fortunes on the wall and nice floral scrolls.
The restaurant offers a wide range of spicy dishes which are famous for being flavorful. The price is great compared to other Hunan cuisine restaurants and portion is generous. The dishes were served quickly and flavor is tuned nicely. The waiters were attentive too. Recommend the hunan noodle, the sautéed lamb, and stinky tofu.
Delicious Food and Great Service! Hunan House is a hidden gem in the Bay Area! The food is consistently flavorful, with bold and authentic Hunan-style dishes. The spicy dishes, like the preserved eggs with eggplant and hunan style sautéed pork are an absolute must-try if you love heat. The service is attentive and friendly, and the staff is happy to recommend dishes if you’re unsure. The atmosphere is cozy and perfect for a casual meal with friends or family. If you’re in the area and craving delicious Chinese food with a spicy kick, Hunan House is definitely worth a visit! Would you like me to include anything more specific about the restaurant?
Delicious food for spice lovers!! Good ambience and great service! The house special spicy grilled catfish is the highlight. The stew is spicy with all the vegetables and they put the whole fish. Fun to eat. Liked the lazy Susan turntables
This place serves spicy and flavorful Chinese food at reasonable prices, with great service. The dishes I tried were perfectly seasoned, striking the right balance of spice and flavor. Highly recommend!
Good food. Pretty spicy but super tasty. Restaurant is cute and has friendly staff. Plenty of parking behind it. Large portions and good prices for the area.
Incredible flavor and reasonable prices for the portions. This is my go-to place when I want to eat something comforting. My favorites are the braised beef combination flaming pot and the sautéed string beans with sausage with a side of rice! This is usually enough for me and another person to share—plus, we have enough left to take home. I don’t think there are many places that come close to this flavor. My mouth is watering just typing this 🤤
Nice food and service, chicken & bamboo shoots with chopped chili offers a special taste (sour and spicy) and would be nice to try it out.
Ordered large pot with beef tongue and chicken with extra tofu in medium spicy. The food is great. Large portions. We couldn’t finish it. Totally worth every penny. Server is very friendly. Love this place. I’ll definitely come back.
We ordered pepper fried pork and several vegetable dishes. All of them taste authentic and not too salty. The portion is huge and price is reasonable. The staff is also very friendly. We will definitely come back when we crave spicy Chinese food!
Steamed pork belly with preserved vegetable tastes good~
Authentic taste, all dishes we ordered are delicious. The fish itself may not be the best type of fish, but the taste of this dish is good
I strongly suggest giving this place a try. The food is delicious and the portions are generous. It's a tidy and well-maintained dining spot. Coming back next time to try new dishes.
We came in on a Friday night, and that was the perfect time to celebrate the end of the week and greatest way to start the weekend! We are beyond satisfied with the service and food quality. It’s continently located at the Caltrain station and the atmosphere is very welcoming and calm. We’d highly recommend the grilled fish as well as the fried buns! Let us know what you think of this great restaurant!
I always know a place is going to be 💣 when I’m the only 白人, and it didn’t disappoint! Get the house specials. And of course, the mapo tofu. It’s almost as good as my favorite spot in Flushing 🗽
One of our fav Chinese restaurants in Bay Area. Can’t remember how many times that we have visited Hunan House. The food is incredibly delicious and comes with big portion.
+ Fresh and delicious food including many subtle flavors. It came out reasonably quickly. + The staff was extremely nice and confirmed our order as we ordered a lot. They helped bag the leftovers and frequently refilled water and removed plates. +/- Expensive but ok value given the portion sizes. - The dry pot options were missing some staple add-ons like rice cakes and lotus. - Old store with inconvenient restrooms.

Food is very good and service is great. The only thing of note is that the pig ears could have been sliced thinner so that it's more crunchy and easier to chew.

Great food! ✨ a bit pricey but really yummy mapo tofu, roast duck, eggplant, and sausage fried rice!! Definitely give those dishes a try if you like spicy! 🌶️✨
Run of the mill service but exceptional food, one of the best Tofu, Pork, Spicy Noodles. They have an automated order system so really no service (They still ask for tips). I liked food so much that I will come again, I can ignore the lack of service.

During my recent meal here, I discovered that the restaurant is using illegal and hazardous "lymph meat" in their dishes. I ordered the Sautéed Pork with Chili Pepper (辣椒炒肉) and found that the pork slices had the distinctive, irregular, and gritty texture of lymph meat.
Stopped by a weekday night. There are 8 groups waiting with 20+ minute wait time. They have two empty tables but don’t allow any small group to sit and just told us to wait very impatiently. Why would I beg to eat at a place with such bad service and poor manner? Will never come back again!
Ordered 3 dishes for takeout. All dishes were too spicy - mouth was on fire and couldn’t taste the food. We eat a lot of spicy food, but this was beyond reasonable.
