Dumplings were good, our server Calla recommended a great soju
Really amazing food and great service. I’ve loved everything I’ve ever ordered here. It’s also a very fun vibe inside. They should have orange wine though. It feels like a place that would. Also I got the seafood bibambap which the menu clearly states includes 4 tiger shrimps but I only got 3. It was so good and so huge and I did not need it, but I expect an extra tiger shrimp next time I go 😉
My wife and I entered this place while randomly looking for a quick bite and a drink before a movie at a Cinema nearby. While we were there we noticed some of the food going around and everything looked fantastic. Of course we returned there for a proper dinner. Everything was awesome! Great components, delicious food and greatly looking dishes. They have both nice Korean food and some very well though out fusion stuff. They also have grills at some tables to have your stuff cooked right in front of you. A very fortunate accident to find this place, we will definitely come back.
After 20 years… I think… they still are serving up some of the best KBBQ in Brooklyn! They always come through.
I have been coming here for 10+ years, and when I do, I always get the warm and fuzzies. This place is great for a date, online dating included, and also great to catch up with friends. I love the back bar, I think it is a quintessential component of the neighborhood. The food is off the chain, and the beer selection is always enchanting.
Super good place. Definitely worth the price including the free appetizers brought to the table. Creative menu too. Service was really friendly, delivery was prompt. Interior was very clean and comfortable. Food was very good too - Kimchi chigae and pork belly and grits in hot stone bowl, both were very good. Whole place seemed to have nice touches with love, even the rice with whole beans in it.
This place blows my mind. They got everything. The food: Insane The Atmosphere: 😱😮 and the service: great as well!!!! Although the prices are pretty high but its new york so what do you expect
Came in for are last dinner in New York. Are drinks where so good really enjoy them. But are food was delicious, had a great night and good service from are waiter. From the appetizers to are last plate everything was great. The wings where delicious, recommend.
Mmm. Had marinaded kalbi and marinaded pork shoulder along with purple rice and Korean fried chicken. Kalbi: yummers: Not overly sweet. I love their marinade. Beef quality is great. 👍 Pork shoulder: oh my. This was thinly sliced and the marinade was perfect. So good. Purple rice: surprisingly yummy. Had more flavor than white rice as well as occasional beans (?) in it. Korean fried chicken, spicy soy flavor: good but was expecting more of a 'bonchon' style experience. Wings/drumsticks were lightly floured so the crust is thin as opposed to a batter where you get a flaky crust. Sauce was thin. Really wanted a thicker sauce like the Korean fried chicken places do. I liked them but my expectation was thwarted so am unfair to judge this dish as is. Really craved the crusty saucy wings. Mmm.
doenjang jjigae with beef was absolutely fab.
food was delicious and the employees were amazing!!!! and so sweet!!
Hands down my favorite restaurant in Brooklyn! Incredible food, amazing staff, and unbeatable vibes. Highly recommend!
Fantastic food and fantastic service. San (the waiter) was exceptional.
i come to new york regularly and every single trip i make sure to come to dokebi!! i just love it - great wine, food, atmosphere and service! 5/5
We had a small reunion gathering a few weeks back, held in the back bar area of the restaurant. The food and service was great! Could not have asked for a better experience!
get the dokebi spicy chicken! it’s very crispy and flavorful even though it’s very spicy lol
This was such an experience! It was my first time having hot pot and I wouldn't have it any other way. My waiter was very informative and attentive. He had the sound of dropped chopsticks ingrained in his body and was always ready with more. The food was so so good and very filling. I ate every single bite. You're presented with three different types of noodles, rice, veggies and meat. There were some tiny fishes as well but I unfortunately am allergic! The service was fast and dependable and, it wasn't too crowded at all! They do check your temperature at the start and they also have you do location tracking via text message. The general feel of the restaurant is very chill, there are some interesting art pieces of cyclopes by the bathroom, a chalkboard with little notes, very wide seating for groups (though with our current climate I wouldn't advise going in a large group) and a nice little shopping area in the very front (or back; depending on which entrance you come through). I enjoyed my time enough to get one of the shirts, which is super comfortable and I have worn regularly since! I would definitely recommend this spot, and would love to come again! (Next time; I'll try the BBQ or fried chicken 🤤!)
Three words : PORK BONE BROTH. The most insanely rewarding and tasty meal that clears all of the bad vibes from your life. IN LOVE! Dokebi, always a must!!! (client for twenty years BTW)
Insane. Amazing chicken wings and such lovely staff. Go go go
This is a great spot for Korean BBQ. I usually sit in the back by the bar if not grilling. Get the short rib tacos! Meat is tender & tasty. Drinks are on point & the bartender is always nice. Music is great. One of my favorite casual places to go in Williamsburg. And another perk is that is down the block from Martha's Country Bakery.
Absolute gem of a find. Unreal delicious food, solid service, and a wonderful owner who came over to introduce themselves to our group + share their restaurants' founding story. Atmosphere is comfortable and quaint - best seats in the house are the window spots up front, but everywhere seemed comfortable to those dining. 10/10 experience - will be returning often!
This restaurant is absolutely incredible! The food here is not only delicious but the staff is also incredibly friendly. Not only is the food served quickly, but the staff also takes the time to provide detailed explanations for each dish my server was Jade . I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a perfect spot for a date night or a memorable family dinner.
This restaurant completely fulfills its vision statement. Tess is a knowledgeable and fun teacher answering my questions and telling me about the food and tradition. Thank you Tess. The mushroom vegetables were so good!
This place is amazing. My favorite Korean dish is Kalbitang (tender short ribs in bone broth with vegetables and glass noodles) and this place absolutely nails it. I lived in Seoul, SK and have been looking for a restaurant that does it justice. This place does. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. Definitely will be back.
Called ahead to try and make reservations but it's first come first serve. Parking in the area was a bit tricky. We went on a Monday night, President's Day, at about 9pm. Wasn't super crowded but they were busy. I liked that we were able to carry a conversation without screaming over music or other restaurant goers. We sat at the grill table and enjoyed the steak cubes with dokebi rice.
great food and incredible service! felt like I was back at home in Korea! Erica is a great manager and runs a smooth ship. Highly recommend.
I’m not down with cooking, so was totally surprised when plates of raw meat and vegetables were served at our table with the expectation that we would grill everything. That being said, my party thought it was super fun and things actually turned out very tasty. Five stars for the experience.
Incredible quality, awesome experience, and affordable. The bulgogi bibimbap in the hot stone bowl came out perfect. Fresh vegetables but some of the best meat quality I’ve ever had all around. The tteokbokki was killer. And don’t even get me started on the kalbi beef. It was some of the most tender, flavorful I’ve ever had and barely had to chew. This spot delivers. Highly, highly recommend.
I'm so glad with the re-opening of Dokebi Kerean BBQ! The sauteed Octopus with special spicy sauce and udon noodles is absolutely delicious. The full bar is serving awesome drinks. Love the spacious outdoor seating area. The service couldn't be more attentive and pleasant. I'll come back for more! Enjoy your meals and have a lovely time!
True Korean food and drinks! Love the vibe here and their seasonal side dishes
WOW !!! formerly a Korean bar, there is now a restaurant place where the food is just wow. I recommend to taste the specials and take at least 2 courses per person. Because it is so excellent that it you keep being hungry. Thanks so much for the wonderful evening that I had there with my lovely cousin.
Came here (again) with my partner for dinner and had the loveliest birthday dinner. Been coming here for years and have never been let down by the food or service at Dokebi. Sensational restaurant and super reasonably priced. Love it here so very much! Everyone who works here is so kind too.
I ordered the Hot Stone Bibimbap and it’s one of my favorite bibimbaps in NYC — perfectly seasoned and the serving is not overwhelming. This place is a perfect date spot. The atmosphere is cozy, service is efficient, and the food is memorable. Been here twice with my husband and once with a group of friends and it never disappoints. Parking in the neighborhood is hard to find though, so plan ahead.
One of the last few staples of Williamsburg that’s been thriving for over two decades. If you want exceptional ingredients, quality service and very affordable prices, look no further than Dokebi. As a neighborhood resident, I’ve been eating here for over 15 years and have never been disappointed. You can’t go wrong with the Sundubu Stew, Bibimbap and Mul Naengmyun. Also, they have fantastic non-alcoholic options!
i loveeed the bibimbap and soon dubu stew. get the stone bowl bibimbap if you can, as you get the yummy crispy rice at the bottom! portions were perfect, banchan was just enough and delicious and they also have n/a beer which i appreciated. huge shout out to our server ethan, who went above and beyond, and was always one step ahead of us getting us things we needed before we even asked for them 🌟 thank you dokebi, we will be back 🌸
I tried Korean BBQ for the first time and it was such an enjoyable experience incredibly delicious! Korean BBQ actually reminded me a bit of döner kebab. It was really amazing. I had a great time, and the prices were reasonable too. You should definitely give it a try ,you won’t regret it!
The right balance of great service and dining experience makes Dokebi a great choice for dinner with family or friends. Loved the selection of Korean BBQ options (we tried many) and the spin on a margarita was a great addition. Go with the thinly sliced beef as the cooking is a little easier to manage but highly recommend Dokebi!
My favorite local Korean bbq spot! It’s awesome intimate, and tastyyy! The staff is always a delight and most of the time you can get a table but I would call ahead from Thursday to Sunday. Food is excellent Kim chee is on point, and they have a decent sake selection as well which is my preferred drink with Korean bbq! Go eat and enjoy 6 stars!!!
This authentic Korean cafe is a real find! The food here is absolutely delicious—the Bibimbap and fried chicken are particularly outstanding. The flavors are spot on, and you can tell everything is made with care and attention to detail. The only thing that caught me off guard was that they didn’t have my favorite Korean drink, Milkis, which I was looking forward to. But honestly, the quality of the food more than made up for it. If you’re craving authentic Korean cuisine, this place is definitely worth a visit. I’ll be back for sure, but hopefully, they’ll have Milkis next time!
Love this place. Having only A+ service and food here for years! Sneaky amazing brunch menu for those who hate the idea of regular williamsburg brunch. No waiting in line, no overly loud, overly terrible music, or any last night's disco crowd. A consistent and enjoyable restaurant with great staff and amazing chefs. Cheers and thank you!
We grilled in. The food came out really fast. The meat portions were not overly big, but a single serving is perfect for a single person. Everything tasted really good. Couldn't ask for more prompt service.
Actually, It was my first Korean BBQ experience. All was good except that I somehow did not feel done. Namely I felt like I could eat more, which means portions were not enough with its price. Eventually It was a decent experience.
Had a good experience. Food portions were small. If you’re really hungry, you won’t fill up unless you buy a bunch of appetizers.
Came with girlfriend and sister. The pork BBQ was amazing! Also enjoyed the soup. But the rice dish was super bland, a poor rendition of a classic Korean dish. So mixed feelings overall. But I'd return -- guess it's best to just pick the right items :)
Went for a bros birthday, had a great time and I love their drink menu. I was pretty loose, but the drink names made me laugh, I'm a weeb so I got all the references. Staff was pretty attentive too, FYI tip is already included in the check.
Interesting Ko-Mex fusion restaurant. I had the Short Ribs Burrito. Very tasty. It’s like a bibimbap inside fluffy tortilla. Unfortunately, I got sick from it. Maybe underwashed or undercooked. However, I’m willing to give this place another try. Update: I went back and got the Spicy Chicken burrito. Just as good as the Short Ribs burrito. Didn’t get sick this time! Upping the rating to 4/5. Won’t blow your hair back, but delicious food and friendly service.
Was really good with great staff and ambience, just wish the pork that was in my kimchi jiggae was a little less tough, aside from that no complaints!
Dokebi doesn't dissapoint. It was our second time visiting and once again everything was fresh and tasty. We had the bulgogi, pork belly and spicy tuna. Taking a star off because the service could have been better. After a 25 minute wait to be seated it took another 20 minutes to see our server to place our order. At another point we were trying to call our server and they just kept walking, but to be fair maybe they didn't hear us. I do recognize it was a Friday night and they were slightly busy. All in all I will visit again
Dokebi has an incredible staff who were extremely accommodating when we showed up last minute with a large party. They were happy to work with us and even split the check without any hassle, which we really appreciated. The food was solid overall - fairly standard fare. My kalbitang was a bit bland, but still enjoyable. One nice aspect of the menu is that it isn’t strictly Korean...they also offer Chinese and Japanese dishes, which gives everyone more options. A standout feature is the ability to have the KBBQ cooked in the kitchen instead of at the table. It’s a great option if you want to avoid smoke and fumes lingering in your clothes. Overall, a pleasant experience with excellent service.
Solid Korean spot - went there for lunch. Cocktails are great! Ordered the tacos which were decent but a bit too many toppings on them (got the short rib, oyster mushroom, spicy pork tacos). Scallion pancake was fine but nothing special. The beef bibimbap was good, got it with the purple rice for more texture — definitely get it in the sizzling hot stone bowl because it makes the rice crispy and helps everything mix together.
Conflicted experience The quality of the meat and food was great, love the flavor, but there were a lot of standard KBBQ items that we found missing. Great starter KBBQ place, but we had to ask for bowls, spoons, extra barchan, and to switch out the grills when it got too dirty. They did not have brisket sauce, salt, scissors, egg soufflé, and rice paper.
The barbecue steak was of high quality, the snacks were updated as soon as we asked. If you want to drink still water, then specify that you do not want to drink acqua panna, otherwise you will see an extra $9 in the bill.
The wings were mediocre at best but the Bibimbap was good. My Wild Turkey drink (that I can't remember the name of) was amazing! Service was unpleasant thanks to the waitress having attitude and then subtly encouraging us to leave the establishment (asked to pack our food to go and brought the check w.o asking) even though there was nobody waiting for a table.
If you know good Korean food, than this place is really nothing to write home about. The Kimchi was really subpar, the rest of the Banchan weren’t much better. We ordered the rice cakes and seaweed salad, they were okay, nothing special. The Bibimbap was standard, the Kimchae stew on the watery side. On the plus side, the service was nice. If you’re looking for good Korean food, head to K-Town or Flushing.
Decent but not great Korean BBQ. It also smelled strongly like weed in there because probably some customers had some on them. The staff didn’t care too much.
This was disappointing, but I'm used to AYCE for the same price as an individual entree here, with a lot more sauces, sides, and banchan. The single sauce they did offer is probably good to some, but not a flavor I like. The meat was good.
If you’re coming here for your Korean Fried Chicken craving...Don’t. Flavor and crunch is far inferior to most KFC options. Tacos are well flavored but small and overpriced for $5/taco. Water service and food service is slow as well. Sadly not worth a second visit, and not worth a first if you’ve never been.
Have been going to this place for a few years now and have really enjoyed the food. I love the banchan set and of course their bibimbap dish. Most times I’ve been there the service has been good, but yesterday me and my partner went their probs around before closing. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for some years now and no matter how late it is before closing I treat the customer nicely and give them the best service possible. The brown hair girl with the glasses and wearing a dress was extremely rude and pushy. Every time we ask a question it was like it was bothering her. She “forgot” my drink order and dropped the check without asking if we wanted anything else or desert. I don’t know if she’s the manager or a waiter but please treat your customers right, they are paying for your wages. We still left a good tip. Lost a customer.
Atmosphere was very cool, but the dining room is a bit small, and 3 tables were very loud and making it hard to communicate. The rice bowls were great too, however the seafood one had very few shrimps. Overall it’s great. Sorry to give 3/5, but for price not really valuable
If you’re looking for real traditional Korean, please skip. Ingredients were all good but the sauce and seasoning weren’t classic Korean flavors. I got spicy bibim noodles. And my wife got the nakjee bokum (squid sautéed with veggies). We started with the seafood pancake (pajun) which was decent. Panchan was decent. Maybe it’s considered good fusion.
Very agreeable Korean food, the bibimbap was decent, I appreciated the fact that it was ACTUALLY spicy, definitely love the extra kick. I only give 3 stars though because the service wasn't exactly the best. I couldn't help but feel like the waiter wanted us to get out of there asap so he could give our table to someone else. That's probably because it was only two of us and didn't order any barbecue.
The food is fine, but overpriced. It’s not a true Korean BBQ because the meat was not marinated. The pork belly was really just bacon. So we felt like we payed $30 before taxes for a plate of bacon and some basic veggies. The little side dishes are nice. We also enjoyed the beer, Kirin. Atmosphere was definitely the stronger point here. It was comfortable and plenty of space between you and other guests. The lighting is nice too. The wait was only 15minutes and we got beer in the meantime.
Outdoor seating review: Service: If possible, don't sit at a table in the back street as waiters will come less frequently that way. The staff was nice but the service was pretty slow. Food: I had high hopes for this place. If you are expecting authentic Korean flavors this is not your place (squid udon, soy garlic wings). Also, the bbq and side dish portions were extremely small ($47 double order of grilled pork belly looked like one person's serving, 3 radish cubes for a group of 5). Would probably only come back for the drinks as the food was disappointing and overpriced!
Food was ok. I won’t be going back there. I feel like it could’ve been better. It was clean and I like the decorations. I also like how the tables are set up. The food didn’t have much ch flavor to it. The chicken wings were greasy and the miso soup was very salty. The rice was sticky and not much salt. The burrito was not good at all. I hope they can make improvements.
Personally, I did not like the choice of foods on the menu. So I kept it simple and ordered fried chicken 🍗 wings. The staff waiter and hostess were very polite and the place was clean.
My friend and I ate here while we waited for a movie to start down the block. I ordered pork belly BBQ and was instead given strips of dry overcooked bacon. The purple rice on the other hand was undercooked. And the flavor of the rest of the accompaniments was not good. The waitress looked miserable and like she wanted to be anywhere else. Would not recommend at all. If you want Korean BBQ go to Queens, or Koreatown in Manhattan.
The food was lack luster. I never been so disappointed in Korean fried chicken. And the beef was bland. The marinated beef was okay. The waiters were good though. And I hated how the seat was just straight wood. Overall don't gave high expectations this place is gentrification at its finest.
I give two stars for some politeness, but having us wait a long time makes me think I will not return to this place. It was nice to check out but when asked to order, one waiter wasn't sure how to serve us or not. So I started to record. Not happy that there was someone who came to our table, pretending to be a waiter, and then we had to wait but what was more concerning was the distrust in the energy. you know the seating was nice too bad Service took a flop
first time trying this place, pretty sure won't ever order from them again. burrito has almost no taste cheap rice quality with no seasoning at all. their kimchi soup is just shockingly not good, boiling water and kimchi does not make kimchi jjigae and they even added (I think) watercress to make it worse. don't assume that will add in cleaner taste. I'm afraid that foreign people will think that this is typical korean food. sorry this place is no go
Was the worst kbbq I’ve ever had, if you can even call it kbbq. Not sanitary or clean, got an upset stomach which rarely happens to me. If you read other reviews you can see that they’ve served food with flies in it and items past expiry. I don’t know how this place is still open and busy. I would never recommend it to anyone, I have never been this disappointed in a restaurant. Please save yourself and go somewhere else. We also waited over 1.5 hours inside when they told us it would be a 30 minute wait. Just go somewhere else. Seriously.
It was our 4th time visiting this Dokebi restaurant. However at this time, wait staff wasn't educated and seemed to have no experience of how to serve. And they completely ruined our family dinner. We arrived around 6:20 and asked the staff to sit at the window table. And she said ok! However, with that tiny barbeque grill, we can just grill 1 person's portion at a time. We've ordered 3 Kalbi, 2 Pork belly, 2 dice cube steak and 1 bottle of soju for 2 adults and a 5 years old boy. Around 7, after some grill for my son, one waitress came up to us. "We have another reservation on this seat so you have to leave by 7:30." Wait what? They never told us reservations before we sat on that table and we have not even started eating yet. And the restaurant was almost empty. No one can eat that freaking fast in a grilling restaurant for that portion. We left at 7:25 which is 5 minute earlier than 7:30. We couldn't finish our dinner. We've paid a 20% tip even though we had a horrible experience and the amount was $288 with the tip, because we hoped not to discriminate against any other Asian family anymore. We took a picture of the amount we paid. We absolutely are not coming back!
I am Korean and one of my favorite old school dishes is kimchi stew. It’s comfort food for Koreans and pretty hard to mess up. But yet this place made the list of the worst kimchi stew I’ve ever had. What is the plastic after taste that I can’t seem to get rid of? It’s certainly not the packaging because it was packaged in paper. So you taste the food before it goes to your clients? I believe that there are thousands of YouTube video clips on how to cook korean food.
My experience here on Valentine’s Day 2024 was terrible ! I had a reservation for 930 got there at 920 dint get seated until maybe 15 later even though there was nobody seated in the table I was seated at - me and wife finally sit down - it took about another 10 minutes to receive a menu ( after we asked for one thinking they would of given us a menu when we sat down ) then another 15 minutes pass by and I had to get up and ask for someone to come and take our order ( embarrassing) was the location packed? NO - there was also at-least 3 waitress there . The food finally arrives half way through our meal I ask for a second ginger ale NEVER CAME - so I had to ask again - I honestly just felt bad for my wife she use to like coming here but I guess we won’t be returning here no more
This must be a North Korean themed restaurant with how scarce, expensive, and mediocre the food is. This was single-handedly the worst Korean food I have ever had in my life. The first red flag was that there was not a single Korean person in the restaurant. Portions are tiny and the food is overpriced, and once it arrives at your table you have to cook it yourself. The meat wasn’t really marinated and everything tasted very bland because there is no sauce to dip the meat into. We were a group of about 20 and we were sat at tiny tables that could barely hold anything. If there is a such thing as Hell it must consist entirely of the experience that I just went through at Dokebi.
For soup dish review only: Damn, probably the worst Korean soup dish I’ve ever had. No flavor, it’s like boiled water and meat and veggies. Meat tasted stale. To make this even worse, the server or bartender takes her own sweet time to take orders. She’s basically laughing and giggling super loud at the back like I can’t even have a decent conversation with my friend without being interrupted by her loud screams of laugh. The ladies next to us were basically waving to get her attention but no luck. She kept on having a blast with whoever they were. It felt like she didn’t works there, more like she’s a patron. The ladies pretty much gave up and asked the busser boy to help out. We looked at each other and basically shrugged off to this level of service. Never going back.
