- One of the best tasting menus in Austin. (My favorite of the year). - It's not a big restaurant we always make a reservation at least a few days beforehand. Went a couple of weeks ago for my bday. This was our 3rd time to this restaurant. The food was different but the quality&taste was great as always. They are now doing 5 course tasting menu. Every single one was solid. At first I thought I'd need to order another dish after but I was wrong. I was really full after the desert. Great service, great environment. I'd say more suitable for a date night or with good friends. They change the menu from time to time. I'd definitely come back in a little while to try their new dishes.
Can't go wrong at Wink. Called for a reservation and they asked us what we were celebrating, when we got there the menu had our names with a message that read: Happy Anniversary! Did the 7 course menu. All dishes were incredible except the Salmon that was good in our taste. We did not did the wine pairing because someone had to drive.
An Austin classic that's been around for 20 years and I've only visited the one time...for now. The service was fantastic, our server and host complimented each other, our glasses were never empty and our plates were always full. You're not rushed, the ambience is quite, simple, and welcoming. The food was delectable and the chefs went an extra step further making sure my allergies were covered. If you have nothing else have the lemon meringue. The customized our menus, a friend and I celebrated our belated birthdays together and the team signed them. It's sort of goofy but rather special and that combo is nothing short of wonderful.
Delicious food, impeccable & friendly service, a great wine list, and the chef was willing to adapt dishes if possible to accommodate our food allergies. Last night I had the scallops, escargot, and foie gras which were to die for, my husband had the Irish stew and duck, and our friends had the arugula salad, hamachi, and sweetbreads which were all equally amazing. This place will not disappoint - highly recommended!
As this place is allowing only takeout and curbside delivery, my review really only concerns the ordering and food that I had a chance to enjoy. Very friendly service and easy to find while driving along N Lamar Blvd. I ordered online using the URL on a sign outside the restaurant. No problems. I live downtown, so it was just a short bike ride to get there, but there is also parking. My food was waiting for me shortly afterwards and had a chance to enjoy their delicious burgers! Glad they’re open during these times!
Literally just came back from eating here tonight and I LOVED IT! I went with my partner and the food was amazing. Everything was so different than what I’m used to but they brought all these beautiful foods and they were absolutely delicious! The servers were on top of it and I have absolutely no complaints! If I could leave 100000 stars I would! Definitely going back! ✨
Still one of my favorite Austin old school restaurants for a fancy meal. Cozy setting with an ever-changing menu of seasonal ingredients. The lemon pot de creme tastes like the beginning of spring...surprising, tart, and sublime. Recent highlights: the mahi mahi with chili oil was light and refreshing with a bit of a kick. The steak with squash was also quite good. Great place for a good priced tasting menu.
Wink Wine Bar and Restaurant has always been a beloved Austin institution for its exceptional dinners and unparalleled wine list, but their new lunch offering is truly a game-changer! I recently had the pleasure of experiencing it, and it has quickly become my go-to for a sophisticated and incredibly satisfying midday meal. From the moment you step into the elegant yet inviting wine bar, you're greeted with that signature Wink warmth. The ambiance is perfect for a relaxed yet refined lunch, whether you're catching up with friends or having a power meeting. Now, let's talk about the food. The mussels are an absolute triumph! Plump, tender, and swimming in a perfectly seasoned broth that begs to be sopped up with every last piece of crusty bread. It's a dish that transports you straight to a seaside bistro. And for something more substantial, the steak with frites is simply divine. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection, wonderfully tender and flavorful, and the frites were crispy, golden, and addictive. It's comfort food elevated to an art form. Of course, no visit to Wink is complete without indulging in their incredible wine selection. The lunch menu is thoughtfully designed to pair seamlessly with their vast and expertly curated list. Whether you're looking for a crisp white to complement the mussels or a robust red to enhance the steak, their knowledgeable staff are always on hand to offer the perfect recommendation, ensuring every sip enhances the culinary experience. Wink's new lunch offering is a brilliant addition to Austin's dining scene. It's a testament to their unwavering commitment to quality ingredients, impeccable execution, and outstanding hospitality. If you're looking for a lunch that's both delicious and truly memorable, Wink Wine Bar and Restaurant is an absolute must-visit. You'll leave feeling utterly pampered and eager to return!
No other word but fantastic. I am very disappointed in myself for not visiting this amazing place sooner. My friend and I ventured here one summer Saturday evening and had our socks clearly blown off of our feet. There have been a barrel of "over hyped" restaurants in Austin lately, and let me assure you , this is not one of them. From the time we entered their wine bar for a glass before dinner, to when we left the restaurant, we were in a foodie paradise. We opted for the 5 course meal without the wine pairing, which was a mistake we will not be making again. Every course was better than the last. The most impressive part? Everything was made for the menu, that day. That's right, daily rotating menus. The creativity and production of the kitchen is magnificent. The portions were handled with ease, but by the end of the meal you didn't feel hungry; but you didn't want the tastings to stop. The wine bar adjacent has a speakeasy feel, but that quickly dissolves to a exuberant atmosphere when you began a conversation with the lovely people behind the pine. Everyone was simply delightful. It has been a long time since I've found so much enjoyment, and charm from a first time visit to a restaurant . I cannot wait to go again!
Preface: This is a fine dining restaurant. You need to expect small portions and high prices. Wonderful, seasonal menu to serve you what is fresh and local. Great options available. Good wine list to pair with the food. They have everything you need to enjoy the food. If you like wine but ACTUALLY enjoy wine, they might not have what you need. Service was on point with recommendations. Snobby, yes, but when you know your stuff and work at a place like this, you earn the right to be a bit snobby. For those looking to create their own experience (which is totally fine), I'd expect the server to be a bit reluctant as your choices may not be well suited for each other. Environment was candlelit dark/dim. Perfect for a romantic celebratory dinner or nice date. We went here specifically looking for the experience that we had. Well executed by the team at Wink.
Fantastic flavors and menu with local ingredients, hard to find proteins, and unique but really tasty dishes all the way around. Highly recommend the tasting menu and they’re even good with swapping out for other dishes which is awesome because the fois gras is fantastic! Service was excellent, and the atmosphere lended itself to phones down, talking and enjoying company and good food.
A fine dining gem in downtown Austin. We opted for the 5-course tasting menu paired with wine and left very full and happy. All of the courses were very tasty (especially the duck breast and strip steak). A nice amuse-bouche was also included. The staff were helpful and friendly and gave us the best experience. Would definitely return!
Wink is a hidden gem in Austin serving up a killer chef's tasting menu with perfectly paired wines. The scallops and grits were the highlight, an explosion of creamy and seared flavors. Knowledgeable, friendly service and a relaxed vibe make it a great spot for a special occasion. Highly recommend!
A fine dining experience you're not gonna want to miss. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, the food dances around your mouth, and the venue is intimate - meaning you don't have to worry about children running around ruining your meal. The chef gets his ingredients from local farms and treats them as the delicacy they are. Tour the menu, it's well worth it.
Wink is old-school Austin at its best, and it absolutely delivers. We went for an anniversary dinner and the experience felt genuinely personal from start to finish. The staff took the time to make it feel like a celebration rather than just another reservation, which goes a long way. The prix fixe menu was thoughtful and well executed, with wine pairings that were spot on without being showy. The kitchen clearly knows what it’s doing. Every course felt intentional, balanced, and confident. Nothing was overworked, nothing phoned in. The wine program deserves its own mention. Excellent selection, smartly curated, and clearly chosen to complement the food rather than distract from it. Add in a friendly, attentive staff that knows when to engage and when to step back, and you get the kind of dining experience that reminds you why Wink has been an Austin staple for so long. Quietly excellent, no gimmicks, no disappointment.
We had an excellent birthday dinner at Wink. We did the 5 course tasting menu with the wine pairing at 6 PM. The duck and the steak courses were the highlights for us, and the wine pairing was absolutely worth it. My wife loved every single dish. The service is what really made the night special. Everyone was welcoming and made us feel genuinely cared for. Our waiter explained each course and each wine pairing clearly and thoughtfully, which made the experience feel elevated without being stuffy. They also surprised my wife with a special birthday dessert, which was a really nice touch. If you are looking for a quiet, special occasion dinner in Austin with great hospitality, Wink is a great choice. Highly recommended.
An exceptional dining experience. From the customized menu, with my wife and I names, to the food to the wine pairing. It was just a fabulous night out. They customized our food/wine tasting to be gluten free, without sacrificing quality or creativity. I highly recommend Wink.
Amazing happy hour which changed hours may 1st (430-6pm). A great happy hour spot with good vibes and ambiance. Staff is incredible and their wine selection is top notch. One of my favorite places in Austin!
Whether you are celebrating or just having dinner/wine...this neighborhood place is the BEST. The food and atmosphere are lovely. The wine is excellent. It is the people who really made our evening. In between Jack meeting us at the door to Vincent's expert service to Mark making sure we had great wine after dinner..we didn't want to leave! Will be back🤩
If you're looking for the ideal "date" restaurant, this is the place. The restaurant specializes in coursed menus, also known as tasting menus. It's a culinary dream and will give you and your date plenty to talk about. The atmosphere is quiet but not the kind of quiet to suppress conversation. Finally the staff was extremely knowledgeable of the restaurant's offering. Enjoy, you'll love it.
Wink's wind bar is a wonderful place to linger over drinks and conversation. The service is professional and kind, the food was tasty, and it is cozy and quiet.
Upscale American fine dining restaurant that takes it to the next level with a beautiful interplay of food and wine combinations along with amazing staff and excellent service. The absolutely perfect romantic place for a date night or to celebrate an anniversary.
Came here for my birthday dinner two years ago. When my husband called to make a reservation he told them it was my birthday. After the dinner was over the chef and the waiter had signed a menu for me to take home. The whole dinner was delightful. And paired with the wines made each course more fun than the last. The portion sizes are a little small, but all the ingredients are fresh and local. Would definitely recommend for a nice night on the town celebrating something.
Sensational food. This is a gem. Every dish was a perfect combination of ingredients. Lovely decor. Our waitress Nicole was knowledgeable and so pleasant. Plus we had the honor of the chef chatting to us mid-dinner. Daily sourced ingredients. Exceptional flavor. Wish it was my local.
We’ve been meaning to eat at Wink for some time now, because it’s been years since we’ve eaten there. It’s no wonder that in a brutally competitive restaurant scene like Austin’s, that Wink is still in business. We were with another couple, all 4 of our appetizers were beautiful and delicious, and our entrees were on point. And to make our meal even more memorable was the service we received from Nicole. It was above and beyond, and it’s so obvious that she truly enjoys her job. I even told her so. After our meal, we decided to skip dessert and an after dinner drink, but Nicole treated us to a round of port and 3 desserts to share. We were all blown away. She’s a credit to the service industry and to Wink as well. We’ll definitely be dining there again soon, and we’ll be certain to request Nicole. I highly recommend this restaurant and our lovely server.
So a little heads up, the restaurant has 2 seating sections, the bar and dining. They are separate! I went into the bar section and it had a very classy and chill environment. They have some amazing art done by some locals and very talented staff. And not to mention the food is amazing. Seriously tho, get the scallops.
Went here for our anniversary dinner. Fyi, I didn't feel out of place in jeans and a nice top. Parking is easier than I thought as there is a large parking structure to the right of the restaurant. Once we were inside we were seated about 15 minutes early. Seating is very intimate and you're very close to other visitors, but that's ok. Our waitress was wonderful and attentive and helped me choose among menu items. She checked to make sure there weren't dietary restrictions. Our water was refilled regularly by any employee in the room who happened to walk by and notice it was empty, and same with our dinner rolls (which we awesome and I could have eaten 20 of). I had the pear salad starter and the red snapper entree. I wish the latter had had a little bit more seasoning, but that's okay. The eggplant with it was so tasty. We also got the dessert sampler with 4 desserts and basically were licking the plate. Husband liked the chocolate cake, I liked the creme brulee and lemon meringue! Great place for a date night or fancier dinner. I would have done the tasting menu but everyone at the table has to and it had too many things my husband wouldn't have eaten but it looked great. Good experience!!
They open at 5 pm so HH and dinner spot. The wine selections are the best in town, it is a wine bar after all. The bar food is Great especially the burgers and the pizzetas. Noticed a lot of people ordering the truffle potatoes, next time! Definitely a foodie place, nothing ordinary here
Had reservations for dinner but stopped in at the bar beforehand. We decided to stay in the wine bar for dinner. The bartender was extremely helpful. I believe he was a sommelier. He was very knowledgeable about wines and helped to find the perfect wine for our tastes to accompany the meal. Half price bar food at happy hour. Had the burger the first time here. Went back again but this time I was not very hungry. My friend ordered the hummus and Truffle Mac and Cheese. The Mac was very rich and filling so she opted to take the rest home. The hummus was interesting served with pickled veggies and toasted croutons. The wine was wonderful. I chose the Syrah at $13 glass. After sampling a few cabs she decided the Syrah was the best choice. Great service and atmosphere
This place is awesome! Fantastic place for a special occasion. My husband and I went here for our anniversary and everyone went out of their way to make it a special evening. The printed special menus for the occasion and had everyone sign them! We had the tasting menu with the wine pairing. The wine was amazing! It was a bit too much food for me personally - honestly the portions were bigger than I expected for some of the dishes considering there are 7 of them! All of the dishes were fantastic as well. It was neat to try things I wouldn't normally try. All in All in was a wonderful night with terrific food and wine. We will be back :)
We've been coming here for 15+ years, still as good as ever. Great wine selection, easily paired to entrees. Food and service always high quality. Save room for dessert too. Perfect for special occasion or just a nice dinner night.
Great experience in the wine bar here last week. All the staff was very friendly and professional while still providing character and personality to our experience. All the bar food we tried was great (and you can still order from the kitchen), but the Mac and cheese is definitely a standout. Good selection of wine as well.
I am a local. I have been eating here since it opened when i have the budget. The wine options are truly vast and lovely. The staff has been authentic in my personal experience. I love the food. the best rosemary, herb dressing i've ever had, like most the menu. I LOVE this place dearly. Sure, portions are small, yes its not moderate in price but the quality is grand.
We were so "wowed" at our first visit we had to go back. The food and service are both amazing! Our first visit we went with the Chef's give course tasting menu and O was so glad we did. On this visit I ordered the steak, the wife the salmon, and we planned on sharing the scallops. When ordering the waitress offered to half each entree for us so it ended up being like a three course tasting. That is until we had desert! They have an option to have a sml portion of each desert brought out on a platter which we opted for. Each portion was large enough we each got a couple of bites. . . The thing my wife LOVED was the personalized menus. On her birthday they said happy birthday and her name and on our Anniversary they said happy third Anniversary with our names and then they staff signed them. Amazing little hidden gem!!!!!!
Everything was great. The tasting menu and wine pairing is a fine display of culinary know how. The 7 course menu is a lot of food. My only riff is that every dish had a meat focus weather seafood, duck, sweet bread, or otherwise. A little more gastronomic diversification would have been splendid.
Came to wink for the 1st time for a nice dinner after proposing, and it beat all expectations! We did the 7 course with a wine pairing, and the food and wine was amazing! They were even able to swap one of the items for me. Our server, Vincent, was phenomenal. He taught me as much about wine as I learned in Napa last year, and provided the best service I've had in years. I can't recommend this place enough!
I went and the foie gras was the best part! Amazing tasting menu and wine pairings - you're in for a treat with this hidden gem.
Wow! We have had every tasting in Austin and this is just as good as the best! Austin was the best waiter we have had in any restaurant. Food and service could not have been better! We will be back many times!
We loved the 7-course meal with wine pairing. We lingered for over three hours and enjoyed every minute of our experience. Our server was particularly delightful. Can't wait to go back - for either a more low-key HH or on another special occasion. Highly recommend!
One of the few Austin places you can bring your own wine, with a small corkage fee. Recently did the 7 course tasting menu with a group of friends. All of the food with wonderful, but the service was a bit slow tonight... which isn't the norm for this place. The highlight of the tasting was the duck breast. Perfectly seasoned and cooked, easily in the top 3 duck dishes I've ever had and the best in Austin.
What a wonderful experience. Joined by 4 others to celebrate a belated birthday with our musician friends. Food was over the top! Server was perfect, extremely knowledgeable on all dishes and wines. We will definitely be back!
We went to Wink last night with a few friends. To be honest, it have been several years since we were last there simply because there’s so many new restaurants in Austin we neglected to patronize the long standing restaurants. After enjoying a fabulous meal and wonderful wines, Not to mention professional and friendly staff, I was reminded again my week has been around so long. It is a special place. The menu choices were so creative and different from what you normally see on fancy restaurants the food was beautifully presented, and the portion size was perfect not too big not too small just right. From the fabulous red snapper dish, to the Mahi Mahi, duck breast, beef tartare, the peach mixed green salad, the desserts and the pear in Icelandic yogurt. All divine! We were able to hear each other and had a lovely evening. I wanted to make time today to review Wink And let others know that this place will not disappoint!
My girlfriend and I recently dined here for her birthday. I opted for the five-course tasting menu with wine pairings, and every course was perfectly complemented by the selected wines. They easily accommodated the menu to not include any fish, at my request. My girlfriend had the vegan five-course tasting menu, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The staff really went above and beyond to make her birthday feel extra special with thoughtful touches throughout the evening. Vincent was an amazing host, extremely knowledgeable about all the wines and offered fantastic recommendations. He truly made the experience unforgettable.
The key here: never leave the bar. The bar menu is fantastic for happy hour, and you can also order from the main menu. Bartenders are kind, informed and are great hosts. It's cozy and intimate altho there is a large table in back that is great for 8 people. Food here is still some of the best in the city, and this is Austin's remaining OG in farm to table, local sourced. It's a hidden gem tucked away. Only tell your good friends.
11/10 - rare gem high-quality neighborhood restaurant in Austin! Wonderful all around. Incredible staff, lovely regulars, welcoming atmosphere with delightful food. This is the highest compliment I can give: feels like the type of place that would be the setting of a 1990s romantic comedy or novel 🥰 If they ever renovate I will be devastated. Far superior in every way to SO many buzzy restaurants in the area.
We had a lovely date night here last night. We both had the 5 course tasting menu. The food was delicious, the portion sizes were large for a tasting, we were stuffed when we left, and our waiter was wonderful.
This was our first time at wink and it was an amazing experience all around. Our waiter Austin was very knowledgeable about every course and pairing. He did a fantastic job throughout the night. The food was delicious and the wines matched perfectly with each course. They were also very accommodating for dietary restrictions with the tasting menu. I would highly recommend going for any celebration or a nice evening out.
My husband and I had a wonderful meal at Wink to celebrate him starting a new job. The team at Wink treated us so well. They custom printed menus with my husband’s name and brought us complementary sparkling wine. They were attentive but not overly so during the meal and the pacing for the five course tasting menu we ordered was spot on. The food itself was fantastic. Our favorite dishes were the cobia sashimi and the duck breast. Wink manages to deliver a friendly, neighborhood feel while also providing top notch service and dining. We will definitely return!
This our favorite hidden gem! We love their food and the service is top notch. This is a great spot to celebrate anniversaries, accomplishments and milestones.
We pass by this place all the time and finally stopped in for a snack today. We ended up sharing a bottle of wine and an entree. The service was great, the lamb was some of the best lamb I’ve ever had, and the owner came by to check on us and chatted with us about the restaurant and their story. He even personally altered a desert for us to suit our dietary restrictions. We had a fantastic time and will absolutely be back! The lamb and crème brûlée are must haves!!
This was an incredible experience! Perfect option to celebrate a special occasion. Celebrated a birthday there and enjoyed the 7 course tasting. It was delicious! The portions were perfectly sized and the flavors were fantastic. Really enjoyed the crab cakes and steak. The desserts were also perfect. We did the recommended wine pairing with the dessert and it was the right choice. The service was great from start to finish and highly recommend!
Another amazing dining experience at Wink! The Foie Gras with millefeuille is out of this world. All the staff were knowledgeable about the menu and the wine pairings. Almost all the wines are available by the glass! Can't overstate the quality and service at Wink. Go there!
I'll admit my bias up front. I've known and loved these people a long time, beyond the 24 years they've been there. I've so many stories as to their talents, dedication, and general good nature... stories I've witnessed personally. Supporting this restaurant is a moral imperative.
Great experience all around at Wink. Our first visit and we had the five course tasting menu with wine pairing. Everything was delicious and elegant. Will definitely return. I also look forward to checking out the wine bar next time!
Went for lunch on Friday and absolutely loved it. Super relaxed atmosphere with fantastic and friendly service. The food was just incredible and the wine list is hard to beat.
Vincent , nos hizo la celebración muy agradable, excelente servicio muy personalizado y familiar

Our waiter Clint along with the entire management took great care of us to celebrate our special occasions!!! The 7 course tasting menu was absolutely divine as were the drinks we got. Cannot recommend highly enough all of the staff, the food/drinks, and the overall experience for the night. 10/10 would recommend Wink for a special night out 👏
Wink wins again--for impeccable service and food. Wink used to be our go-to special date place, but we moved out of the area and haven't been there in at least 6 years. No fear though-it may took a notch up in our books on this last trip. For the first time, we chose our meals from the regular menu and not do the tasting menu. The food was generous in portions and beautifully plated. There is no going wrong with anything you order-we got to witness everyone around us raving about each dish that came out. Our service was extremely attentive and helpful, especially with wine paring. We left utterly delighted and full! Don't miss the flourless chocolate cake. :)
I have been to Wink for several special dinners and each time things have been wonderful. We usually order the Chef's Tasting menu and it is always a culinary journey. The have strong farm to table values and that is reflected in the dishes changing with the harvest. Every season has been amazing. The staff was charming and they were accommodating with many dietary restrictions that my guests have had.
Parking -has decent parking in front of the restaurant and has parking opposite to the restaurant, driving up the ramp. Ambience - 80-90's fancy restaurant feel. Food- we ended up ordering a 5 course meal with wine tasting. The food was good but I won't say it was amazing. They are known for their duck dish but the way it was presented I could see the blood drooling on the side. They were kind enough to switch duck dish for my partners with Snapper fish which tasted good. The wines were good but the last 3 tastings were all cherry based which I felt was too much Cherry. Service - as I was celebrating my partners birthday they specifically called me to ask her name and gave us a signed menu card as a gift. I really appreciate this gesture. Thank you. The server was kind but kept on forgetting stuff after our 2nd course. I believe few guests came to celebrate something at the restaurant and they all got candles on their dessert but we didn't. Conclusion - good food, cosy place, good wine collection, cost for 2 about $375 with tip.
I've lived in Austin for 6 years, and never heard of this restaurant. Saw it on an Eater list for best tasting menus in Austin. This place is delicious! Super cute, and a lot of fun. 7 Course Tasting Menu: Cobia Carpaccio - 5/5 Crab Cakes - 4/5 Striped Bass - 5/5 Seared Sweetbreads - 5/5 Duck Breast - 4/5 Strip Steak - 5/5 Wink Dessert Trio - 5/5 The carpaccio was sooo light and refreshing. Striped bass was cooked perfectly, nice crispy skin. Sweetbreads were excellent, the best I've tasted. Strip steak, delicious. Dessert trio, amazing. Crab cakes were a bit dry. Duck Brest was a tad undercooked. Great date spot. Super intimate, and really fun. Wait staff is phenomenal, and super friendly. I really enjoyed this place.
Went here with my friend one night because everyone said it is a really good place to go. Didn't really see the hype, it was okay, the place is small, there is another side of the restaurant that is the wine bar that is detached. I didn't go in there though. The place is small but nicely decorated, where it doesn't feel small. The menu changes all the time, we ordered a variety of items on the menu. Everything was good, but not the best thing I ever ate, and I guess it was too hyped up in my mind. The service is really good though, the replace your dinnerware after each course, which is really nice. I enjoyed my time there with good company, but there was nothing that I have to go back and have again. It was worth a try.
I took a friend here for a special anniversary. The staff was wonderful, our waitress was knowledgeable and helpful. We did the chefs tasting and the food was very good. However I feel that I've had the same or better experience at local Austin farm to table restaurants without the same cost. Given the same quality and great food that can be found at other local eats such as Odd Duck and Barley Swine will likely not be back again.
Food was great. Had a variety of apps and a burger; the mussels were exceptional, as well as the smoked salmon. Wine menu was a great selection. Actually ended up eating in the bar area. Was a bit frustrating because although there were two bartenders/servers, it seemed only one was working and the other was just there to chat with patrons. Kind of felt like we got pushed off on ordering anything so we missed happy hour specials (and no, we didn't walk in 5 minutes before happy hour was over). So that was unfortunate.
I was at the Wink for a private wine tasting event. The location was great, the service was top notch, the food was "meh". OK, the lemon bars were great, but the rest was average at best. I likes the facility set up, with the wine bar on one side, the restaurant on the other and the private space in the middle. I may come back for the wine bar, but probably not the food.
The food is made with local products from local farms Nicely served but not many flavors Place is outdated We return the escargot as it was missing any flavors , we were told “it’s not for everyone “ Cheese crostini was good The foie gras was cooked perfectly but remaining dish was pale Both fish dishes saved the day Good wine selection , not expensive Small selection of beer No cocktails
We tried the 5-course tasting menu. The first item was complimentary "horchata." It tasted like no other horchata I have ever had. This one was bland and tasted burnt. Bread came, but it was as hard as a rock. The hamachi sushi was really good, followed by a single seared scallop, which was the best item on the menu. We then had the duck, which was chewy and rubbery. It wasn't cooked as duck should be. We had the fourth course, which was hanger steak, but it was too raw for my taste and needed a bit more time to make it medium rare. This cut was rare, almost blue. Our last course was a cheese plate. The cheeses they selected were ho-hum. The atmosphere was loud due to it being a small space, and the parking lot is cramped. I am glad I tried it once, but I wouldn't go back. I'd recommend it for a one-time experience. The waitress and the host were nice people, which bumped it up to 3 stars.
Overall Score 3.3 out of 5 The restaurant was nice inside, good location, Owner greets you at the door and had a nice staff. Parking is tough not many spaces. The food was good. Meat and fish are pretty solid. The portions are small which I don't mind if the food is amazing and for what they charge, it should be. You can tell they're trying.
Everything was good, but not great. Dinner for two was $500+ after tip. We did get the 7 course tasting with pairings, and nothing was bad, but definitely not in the same ballpark as some other tasting menus around town with a similar price point. The atmosphere was very nice and cozy on a chilly evening, but the service was lacking: forgot to bring utensils for one course, mis-paired wine for another, and didn't bring steak knives for a steak dish. The food and wine were all good (again, not great), and we'll probably return, but will likely opt for the a la carte menu versus one of the tasting options.
I’m writing about the wine bar which is adjacent through a small passageway to the restaurant. The wine bar has a great bar menu which comes from the restaurant next-door. I took a friend here last night who had never been. The wine bar is cozy it’s small and although the tables are a little too cramped if you are a party of two, you might be able to move them so that there’s enough breathing space between you and the people in front and back of you Although it wasn’t on the menu, I wanted a Multepulciano Italian and the server said sure we have it will bring it right over. She was a little too enthusiastic in the presentation, which was basically putting a wine glass already filled in front of me with a bottles label that I could not read, nor did she explain anything about the wine. I liked it well enough but definitely expected to taste it first and to read the label. It’s a wine bar no? We ordered four burger sliders to choose from various toppings, but decided to take just the fois gras on all of them with a recommended side of fries. Well, the burgers were slightly disastrous because we ordered them medium although again, the server didn’t ask us. We had to tell her. The first order came out medium rare so I gave it back. The second time the order came out the fois gras was cold. Can you believe that? I couldn’t. The third round and final round they got the burger and the fog guac correctly, which led me to believe they do not have any train chefs in the kitchen more like line chefs from a diner that don’t know what they’re doing in a fine dining establishment. The fries were less than desirable as they were burnt in some places and more or less soggy and definitely not freshly cooked. They were not hot and I didn’t want to them by giving back yet another order, so we just ate them. It was also a little bit strange to see kitchen staff go back-and-forth in the restaurant and walk from the restaurant into the open air with the food, and then the food being temporarily delayed at the bar, and then brought to the table. The dessert was good. Three different small portions of a chocolate gluten-free cake, a crème brûlée, which was way too vanilla and lastly, some lemon custard like dessert. The manager gave me the second glass of wine for free as compensation for the mess-up with my order. Will I return? Hmm. Got to think about it.
When I choose an upscale restaurant I do so in part for the excellent service. I like my chair pulled out, which didn't happen. Instead, the server fumbled all around the table and constantly rearranged everything on the table which I found a nuisance. The food was really well prepared and although the portions are small we had plenty of room for dessert. I had the red deer, which was amazing! Overall, "good," but not spectacular...
Had dinner. Didn't realize that the bar menu didn't cross over into the restaurant area, and the staff were able to accommodate the food order but not the happy hour discount. We had the mussels, beef tartare, duck, and steak. Mussels were fantastic and delicious! They're from the bar menu. The beef tartare was cut a little too big, and the color was brownish. They had a sprinkle of cinnamon on the bread. Unfortunately, I could not keep eating this as it reminded me of pumpkin spice cat food. I would not order it again. The steak was cooked well, but we found the horseradish butter to be very mild and overall it seemed like a very muted dish. We were expecting some commitment to the flavor. The duck was good, but I found it to be too salty and I also couldn't finish my plate. I would go to the bar again for the mussels, but I would not go to the main area again.
The waiter needs to be trained on a fine dine service. It was also uncomfortable to see kitchen staff walking through the dining room. It was nice how they handle a birthday celebration and we appreciated it. The duck course was terrible, we received it cold and the meat very chewy. I told the waiter about it and he said the only thing he could do is send it back to the kitchen to warm it up. The 6th course was a steak and to be honest I had better cuts at Texas Roadhouse - I am sure this will upset the chef. The cut wasn't the best (also chewy) and it was burnt on the outside and for me this means they don't supervise the service. The rest of the courses was very good. For the money we paid not sure I will go back or even recommend it, sorry.
i have loved Wink for years. We had some out of town guest drive in from pout of state and we met their for dinner. I was embarrassed for the quality of the food. They have seen better days. I ordered the sweetbreads which i fell in love with the first time i had them their. This time they were deep fried and served over a hot mess of soggy cornbread. Flavorless and the texture was awful. I wont be eating their again. However i did enjoy our server. She was very good as well as the rest of the staff. I hope for their sake they were just having an off night
For the amount of money they charged for the tasting menu, the food and service was fine, but they space was sooooo tiny that the experience was ruined for us. Everyone was seated so closed to the next table, and it was so loud that nobody could talk at a normal volume, hence people tried to speak louder and the cycle continued. Couldn't enjoy my meal because it was super uncomfortable being packed in like sardines. Will never come back.
Four of us went for a birthday dinner to this restaurant recently. We ordered the pre-fixe vegetarian menu and separately wine. We found the food was reasonably tasty but nothing outstanding. The portions were very small - just two or three bites. We all agreed for the money it was overpriced and very underwhelming. We will be looking elsewhere for our next celebratory outing.
GET BETTER. Only d-bags think small servings and dimly lit places must = good. Otherwise they'd recognize cold brut does not pair well with warm (?!) sashimi. Nor should a lemon meringue be warm except for when it's baking in an oven at 365* (nor paired with a cold moscato). For $100/person you can do FAR better than being surrounded by 50 year old guys in shorts taking multiple photos of their teaspoon of corn. Good service by Dicky and Alex.
I can't believe this restaurant sells foie gras. To produce “foie gras”, workers ram pipes down the throats of male ducks twice each day, pumping up to 2.2 pounds of grain and fat into their stomachs, or geese three times a day, up to 4 pounds daily, in a process known as “gavage.” The force-feeding causes the birds’ livers to swell to up to 10 times their normal size. Many birds have difficulty standing because their engorged livers distend their abdomens, and they may tear out their own feathers and attack each other out of stress. Foie gras has been banned in 15 countries and thousands of restaurants around the world. I refuse to eat anywhere that sells it.
We dined in with a toddler, and he was loud for like one or two seconds. One of the staff here just came directly to my kid and put his face right next to him (very very close) to discipline him, totally in our space and unprofessional. Especially when he did that, the restaurant is basically empty. We have eaten out a lot with our toddler even at very high end restaurants, people always kind to us even when he made a little noise. This is unacceptable and we will never come back again.
Unfortunately had a negative experience, contrary to a lot of patrons. Waiter was nice and willing to overcompensate for the down falls of management and kitchen. Over promise, under deliver. Made reservations for 8:30, was sat at after 9 and no food on the table until 10. The food was pretty okay-ish. Minimal gluten free options.
It's sad to say the food here was less than good. We had fish that was very salty and overcooked, and a duck breast that was served raw. The recook on the duck breast, made it a rubber shoe. We had a nice waiter who made the experience tolerable, but we will not return.
