Seen they had good reviews so when my wife n myself went they had bout a hr till closing. N I ask to be seated somewhere that looked to be closed trying to see how they handled it but to my surprise they sat us where I asked to be sat. Waiter A+++.. But we were still a little on edge cuz we couldn't smell the food. I'm use to being able to smell Mexican restaurants food when I walk in not here. So we thought that the food wasn't gonna be good. After all they were closing n we couldn't smell nothing. But when got that food Damm... Great flavor n we dam smelt it. Food A+++. We will be bck when we're in town again.
Restaurant had a birthday party in progress otherwise not to busy for dinner hour. Host greeted us as we entered the restaurant and inquired as number of guests to be seated. Drink orders taken from menu placed in front of us from host. Waitress brought our drinks along with appetitzers and salsa to begin. Took our order for food with the my request of the salad of lettuce be left off my order of food. Host refilled glasses of drink choice and refill of chips and salsa during the meal. NOTE: The restaurant is undergoing renovation at this time in the dining area for better sitting arrangements for larger parties of customers. Renovation is kept to a minimum during hours they are serving customers.
I went to Leal's with a co-worker on a Thursday evening and they were busy, however, the sever Stephen was cordial and very attentive to our requests. The GM of the restaurant came by our table a couple of times to insure we were satisfied customers and we were. Good Food !!!
The food was amazing, the wait staff was super friendly, and the atmosphere was awesome! Very clean dining area as well as bathrooms. I got the birria tacos, I've been talking about them to anyone I know who comes near here.
We really enjoyed our meal. The waiter was so nice and jovial. He kept our tea glasses full and brought us all the chips we wanted. Their chips are thin and yummy. The enchiladas we're very good and my son said the brisket tacos were out of this world. The price was not bad for my family to dine here. I would highly recommend this establishment.
The food was good the waitress was very sweet she ask us if we needed anything else had a very pleasant lunch and we had a very nice waitress and we will go back again
Food was delicious, the service was quick and very professional. Pricing was very reasonable. Overall food was amazing.
We had a large group the young waitress took very good care of us on drink refills and plenty of chips even after our meal arrived. The food was very good. They were very busy but they seemed to have everything under control. I was very impressed.
Right now they have a mess with remodeling but I am excited to see how everything will look when complete. Their chips are the best in town. I had tacos and they were still steaming at the table. Our server never let our glasses get empty. The place was packed with people headed to football playoffs and the service was still top notch even with the crowds.
It is a great restaurant but it is extremely busy particularly on Sunday noon. If you have time to wait to be seated you will enjoy it. But if you're in a hurry for a quick bite come back some other time. Some people love the opportunity to visit with family and friends while they're waiting
Food at Leal's was great! I had the sour cream chicken enchiladas. Super yummy! Not super impressed w the Queso dip though...tastes like Velveeta...not what I expected.
Stopped down in January on my way from Minnesota to Big Bend. Great Little town. The restaurant was fantastic, beautiful bar great service! I think when I head back down there this winter again I’ll have to go there again :-)
The restaurant is very nice. It almost look a little upscale frfr. I didn't order any food. I just order 2 drinks. They bartender check on me A LOT. 4 stars. Because I didn't actually try the food
We had lunch for my B-day. We love Leal's and now that the branch is in Planview we go there and enjoy the food and the remodeled restaurant. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They sang Happy Birthday to me and gave a complimentary soapapilla for dessert. We will return anytime that we want mexican food.
Super delicious food! The Chile relleno crispy with the cheese sauce is a must! The staff are very friendly, prompt and look professional! The atmosphere is pleasant and family friendly! I love this place!
Every time I went to Leal's and ordered food to go or dine inside the experience is wonderful. Food portions, customer service and the food itself is wonderful. Add the fact that management spends time to come by your table to check on the service is worth 5 stars in my book.
If you want great, outstanding service, back by mouth watering and savory food. That grabs every taste bud, then Leal's is the place to be. It brings that traditional homesyle Mexican meal, that is very fulfilling. The atmosphere is very joyest, and warmth bringing. They make you feel like they want your service, and always met with a smile, you will leave with a smile and a very full belly.
I love Leal’s for their outstanding food and friendly service.
A couple of weeks ago, I called Leal's to ask if they might have room to accommodate a fairly large family gathering. Elena had a couple of suggestions and arranged for us to have a space last Saturday. I estimated that there would probably be around 18 people, but we ended up having 26 show up. The staff at Leal's was most kind in setting up extra tables and seating for us. Our waitress, Jazlynn, could not have been better! She calmly took all of our orders and they all came out correctly. She was very pleasant, professional and capable. She and the staff at Leal's made the experience a very positive one for us all. And the food was especially good. We very much appreciate the excellent service.
The service was awesome. The young lady that waited our table of 13 plus people, was so sweet. The restaurant is beautiful. We were in Plainview for my uncle's funeral services and we sat, ate, and shared memories of my family with Aunts and cousins. This place will be remembered for sure. And, the food was yummy and filling. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
They had six parties of 12 or more, we didn't wait long to be seated, order and get our food. Staff was absolutely wonderful on and the ball. Our drinks never saw the bottom of the glass. They pick up empty dishes and glasses every time they walked by ... Really enjoyed 🙃😉😎
I'm a very picky eater especially when it comes to Mexican food. But their food ( enchiladas, rice & beans) which I ordered, were delicious!! My sil had Chile rellenos, my daughter had birria tacos and my grandson had what I did and they were all raving about the quality of the food!! Service was great and the atmosphere was good and the servers were promp and very friendly! Definitely recommend!!😋😋😋😋
Great service. The food was perfect to my liking. The atmosphere was just right.
One of the best Mexican restaurants my wife and I have ever had the privilege of eating at. Everything about it was outstanding! I would definitely suggest anyone in the area or passing through to give it a try! I wish they had one in Abilene, TX.
I ordered the chicken enchiladas and they came out great.
I've always loved Leah's. I just moved back to Plainview so first time back. It's still excellent ( chili relleno still my fave) and the remodel they've done in the last 4 years is beautiful.
We had lunch, it was so good. We're from Georgetown, TX so we don't get here as often as we'd like. This is the first time at the Plainview location, usually it's the Muelshoe one. The food is awesome no matter which one you go to. We've been to the one in Clovis, NM too. Our waiter was great, food awesome, and we took some to go. Will definitely return if we're in the area.
My husband and were traveling from San Antonio to Colorado Springs. We decided to stopped here to grab a bite to eat Tim our way through town. All of the staff were very polite, friendly and attentive. We sat at the bar and were immediately helped. We tried the combo fajita nachos and added mushrooms s said onions. They were super delicious. Great food, great staff and a lively atmosphere!
We make a point to eat at Leal's every time we travel through Plainview. It is one of our favorite restaurants in the area. I would recommend it to anyone.
We really like eating here. Great food and great service.
Excellent food with a great staff!! The food is really really good and the pride prices are very reasonable also.

The owners have done a great job bringing the best out of Leals, this is one of my favorite stops any time I'm in Plainview!
I very much enjoyed their authentic dishes. The staff was friendly and efficient. It's an hour drive for me but well worth it. Hoping to have lunch there again tomorrow. \n\nJoe M
Vicky is the most amazing server ever!!! Super attentive and never let my drink or chips run low. Someone please give her a raise!!!
Stopped in for lunch and had the stuffed avocado with chicken which was delicious. The atmosphere is nice and the service was really good. I'm looking forward to visiting again and trying a few other menu items and a margarita or three.
Love the salsa! Fried ice cream on sopapilla with strawberry was delicious! Friendly staff.
Chips and salsa and the Combination Fajita Burrito, all amazing!
Had only ever gotten their cheese sauce from United supermarkets. Parked at truck stop. I'm fat n old and I walked in the heat of July...I didn't die. Very good. Cheese heavy. Very good. Their lights r cool. Service was excellent. Plate was actually hot.
Food & staff is usually pretty good. Food could come out from the kitchen being hotter than it usually does and wait staff could sometimes check up on you a little more regularly than they do. New remodel is fairly nice but seems louder in building since then.
Great food. Hostess doesn't need to be the one taking phone orders. Good environment
Everything tasted good. The queso was definitely the cheap stuff, but with Tokyo Steakhouse closed down this will probably be the place I keep eating at if I have to in Plainview.
Not authentic Mexican but still ok. Service and atmosphere are great. Depends on what you are looking for. This is Tex mex if that's what you like.
Here's the thing that Leal's consistantly gets right. It's their amazing service and servers. They always try to focus on their customers, and give their guests a family friendly experience. One thing that usually ends up a little bit badly is their chips and salsa, which is usually free as long as you buy some food. The reason i say this is because, sometimes, the salsas and the chips feel as if they were opened from the fridge and just served out to the customers, this happens eehh about 1 out of 7 to 10 times you dine in the place. It's not alot but it happens. But, i may say when they serve their chips and salsa fresh, you're going to love the place alot and become a frequent diner most of the time hahaha. Another thing is their food, their food will always be fresh but the quality of it is a different story. Sometimes it would be very greasy and sometimes it can be very pleasant to your pallet. Sadly they didn't meet my standards with the fajitas, since it didnt taste like it at their 100, but i understand since they were very busy with lots of other customers. The fajitas were very pleasing to the eye, but didnt really bring what i thought it was going to be, as in flavorful and somewhat bold, but i digress since they usually make it better. Please take this review with a grain of salt as this wasnt my best experience but with their service and staff members, i guarantee it was very worth while!
I was very impressed with the service we received. Yes there were some minor hiccups but considering we were a group of about 20 people it went really well. That also is not considering the fact that they had another private room of 30+ people and a full dining room with what seemed like barely any waitresses. Food was pretty good for the price and I would definitely come back. (Pictured is the main plate of the Deluxe Dinner)
Pretty impressed with the fajitas, not 10/10 due to the tortillas being a little hard, but it was very flavorful and the chips were fresh. Good salsa, and most of all great service! Will be back!
Absolutely no seasoning. Tea was extremely weak. May as well order water. Queso is just melted Velveeta. Guacamole is just mashed avocado, I would have gotten better at taco Bell.

service was the only reason I gave Leal’s a 2. This was a terrible example of Tex-Mex. They need a real cook that can create some good recipes. Stay away if you value your tastebuds. That’s all I h…
Good food. I recommend the chile relleno, enchiladas and fajitas. Definitely DON'T recommend the guacamole. Last 2 times we have been here, the guacamole has been brownish looking....it even had the stem from the avocado mixed in the guacamole. I mentioned it to the server but it didn't make a difference to her (or my ticket-was hoping for a discount on it). Disappointed in the fact that they didn't try making things right since fresh food wasn't served 😕.
Server never asked if I wanted another drink. Neither she refill my water. Food was delicious but the server not so friendly. Only smiled when dropped the check, of course she wanted to make sure she was gonna get a tip. Bad service
This place used to be so good but I don't know.. we had a late lunch there about 2 weeks ago and it just didn't taste as good as it used too. They renovated the place really nice but the food quality went down! Also my brother ordered the 6 piece half nachos and they shorted him a nacho. My niece ordered some nachos too but hers were to the point that you couldn't bite them..they were so hard! We did send them back ..not sure how long nachos take to make considering it's just a chip with cheese but that took a long while by the time they brought them back out we were pretty much done ..we did ask if they could take them off the ticket considering we were almost done and she was just barely eating... they didn't seem too happy about it but they did it. I understand if the place was busy and would take a bit for the nachos to come out but they were not busy at all. The waitress was nice and attended to us.

Tried a different restaurant than our usual Plainview stop upon recommendation of a family member. First impressions are important in rating a restaurant, but we did not get off to a good start. Chi…
The tortillas were tough and difficult to chew. My enchiladas would have been good if not for the tortillas. Maybe they did not precooked them tp soften them, bit no...the chips and my taco were also tough. The guacamole was good. The service was average. I'll try another restaurant next time I eat in Plainview.
We were passing through town and based on reviews decided to stop. We quickly received the two tortilla soups we ordered to go so I rated them high for service. The soup was luke warm, not tasty, overly salted and the tortilla chips were stale. The total for 2 cups (12 ozs) and a bag of chips that did not include salsa was just over $19.
Wife and I took an afternoon Ride from Amarillo to plainview exclusively to eat at Leal's, since the Amarillo location closed. Frankly, disappointing. Salsa is tomato sauce out of can. Nothing more. We both had the crunchy rellano. Rice was drowning in cumin, inedible. Beans.... beans were dry and inedible. The rellano itself tasted alright. It's supposed to have brisket under it. If it was there, I'd of need a forensic scientist to find it. The server.... she kept apologizing for her manager for whatever reason. She did fine. Got us everything we asked for. Just awkward. I mean if I lived closer I'd go back. But it's not worth going out of my way.
4 years ago this place was amazing and had the best tasting food with some actual flavor. Through the years it feels like the recipes have gotten bland and now it has no flavor, portions are smaller ,and the carne guisada is just gravy with very few pieces of meat. The only thing I like from here now is just the chips and salsa 🤕.
Havent been here in years but went in for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised by the new remodel. I was hoping the food was better but was disappointed. I ordered the fajita trio but when i got my food i noticed that it was mostly green bell peppers instead of meat. In my opinion, Jaliscos fajita trio is much better and tastier as well.
Sadly, I order crunchy tacos with a meal and they always come with very little beef in them and the taco shells are always lopsided meaning they are not even therefore unable to hold hardly anything in them.
I always like to be honest when I post a review. I am giving 1 start because this time, the rice was too dry, and it had too much cumin. It also looked like it was old, not fresh. I ordered the stuffed avocado, but unfortunately, the rice gave the main flavor to the avocado, and I didn't enjoy the rest of the plate. I only ate the avocado. The peach cobbler was delicious. The waiter was so nice and very attentive to us. He gave us great service.
Our waiter, Skylar, was very friendly and efficient. And was the best part of our experience. The salsa tasted like watered down tomato paste and had no heat. Almost as if a tomato and sugar were thrown into a blender for way longer than necessary. The queso was just melted veleveta and salt. My husband orders shrimp quesadillas and the amount of oil dripping off of them could’ve started a car from the 1940s. It was also off putting that my fajita nachos didn’t come with the typical toppings (lettuce, tomato, guacamole and sour cream) and I had to pay extra to get them added.
Service was not good. Severs standing around took over 10 mins after being seated to get drinks. Our sever was very slow tho others were attentive. The food had set under the heat lamp waiting on our sever to bring it to us. The bartender was great even come and asked if everything taste ok and if he needed to do anything to make them better but he also was tending other tables and staying on top of them. After all that unfortunately we will not be back.

Drove in from out of town to watch cousin sign with Wayland. Stopped at Leal’s and noticed the help wanted signs, but didn’t think nothing much and definitely didn’t expect to wait 15 minutes at a table. We had waiters pass us and check on other tables around us. It was so bad the hostess was so nice to offer to grab our drink order but, eventually forgot. Id say the dining room was half of people with counting 7 waiters and a manager that stayed behind the bar that could’ve eventually stepped in to assist. VERY disappointed in Leal’s and I feel if management was more organized, this wouldn’t have occurred or at least address our table and explain the situation. We eventually walked out and came next door to field house.
Don’t waste your time.. this place is a bag fat NO! These are not welcoming people, maybe to certain favorites but not in general. No greet when I walked in. They messed up on my order didn’t offer to fix it or give my money back instead wanted to argue back with the costumer. The meat was dry, the beans and rice was cold and had no flavor even after adding my own seasoning I threw it away cause of how gross it was and for the price I paid over 15$ for 1 burrito it was not worth it! I wish I could give them 0 stars and have this place shut down. It’s terrible. Don’t go here. Unless you want dirty looks , talked about in Spanish and nasty food.
What happen to the food here. It used to be sooo good and now I could not finish many meals I’ve tried lately, lots of wasted money. It is only lets me pick dinner or lunch and it’s been both. Take out and dine in , it’s been both!
**Attention *** Do not go to this restaurant!!! I was served cold unooked chicken in my taco last night. The service was horrible. We walked in at 9:30pm and website had a 11pm closed time. (They closed at 10:00pm ) They rush out and cleaning around us. The management was unsympathetic about the incident. Cold uncooked chicken is dangerous on every level. 0 stars if possible..
The chips were so hard and stale, why? My dogs will eat SO GOOD TONIGHT🤬 my avocado wasn't warm and had the taste of a left out avocado! My son's 2 enchiladas DID NOT COME WITH RICE AND BEANS WHY????? We got charged for that separately, our rice was burnt and hard well played!!
Awful food. The hot sauce tasted and looked like crushed tomatoes out of a can. Disgusting! The queso was melted runny velveeta nothing else. My grilled steak tacos the corn tortillas were so greasy and floppy looking, I didn’t even take one bite. My family member ordered chicken fajitas, apparently pan fried chicken is how they make theirs. Extremely disappointed in this restaurant. The one in Amarillo was always exceptional. We will never stop here again. The only plus to this establishment was our waitress! She was very sweet and amazing!!!!
Went to Leal's again. We're from out of town. When we sat down I asked Kegan for extra napkins. She didn't bring them. I had to ask her again for napkins. The peach cobbler didn't have a full slice of the pie. All I received was the tidbits of the bottom of pie no crust. Very disappointed. What happened to the Hispanic waitresses?
I waited for over an hour for a table, before I found out that our name was crossed off of the list. We were standing 4 feet away from the hostess table, and had no chance of missing our name being called. I could clearly hear that many of the people that came during that hour were told it was a 20 minute wait. I saw many people come in after me and be seated before myself and others. The people that I came in with were still waiting when I left. Let’s just say they seem to be selective with who they seated. I called and talked to the manager, before writing the review, and her response was that, “we tried to do the best we can but all of you people come from church and barge in here.” Then she hung up on me. Now I have to post a 1-star review. This location is a blemish on a 5-star company.
The food at Leals has not been very good for a very long time - we have eaten there now for 5 times recently - so we gave it a chance! Sorry we will not back . Which makes it hard to find a place in Plainview that is actually good.
The food was just not good, very watery queso, sour cream chicken enchiladas, which are my favorite go-to item to order from here, were just so bland, had no flavor and hardly any sauce, very disappointing. My son ordered fajitas, did not get the tortillas that come with it until he was already half way done eating his food, we asked 3 different times for them. Server took a very long time getting anything we asked for. Not to mention we ordered guacamole and never got it. Never got an apology or anything for taking so long or forgetting items we had asked for. Just overall not a good experience.
nasty VERY SALTY salsa. CHIPS SALTY. The service is strange like the first day working there. I asked for some Hot sauce, they gave me Tobasco. I had no words at that point. of all the mexican hot sauces in USA from Mexico they give Tabasco. Never ever will I have anything good to say about This Mexican restaurant and the food. Mine was horrific
I ordered the full order of beef fajita nachos for $10.99. Never again! The portion serving was really small on very hard chips, shredded cheese and beef fajita meat only. No refried beans, sour cream or guacamole. They should seriously consider improving this menu item. Taco Bell has much better nachos for a lower price.
Food made me sick, bad attitudes and tell your waitress quit lying
We walked in and noone was there to seat us. We waited a little while. We sat ourselves. The lemonade is from concentrate. The service is bad. I had the taco plate. My tortillas on my tacos were stale. The tacos my wife had were very greasy. Overall, UT was a bad experience. I would not recommend anyone coming to eat at this place. I have never eaten at a Mexican restaurant this bad.
Won't get your money's worth. Ordered brisket tacos and literally had just a line of brisket
Ordered food from here yesterday and it was horrible. I ordered a fajita Laura burrito with the beef fajitas, the little meat they did put in there was hard and dry like it had been overcooked. Also got chips and hot sauce and the chips were stale and so chewy. Such a bad experience.
food was good but the service was not. I went in yesterday May 18th about 4:45 pm , the restaurant was not busy, I went straight to the bar area. There were three to five workers standing there including the manager, I know that because I overheard her telling two other customers at the bar she was the manager. Not one of the ladies greeted me, they all looked at me but not one smiled or was welcoming. It took over 10 minutes for somebody to even come ask what I wanted to drink and when they did their attitude was s*****. No chips and hot sauce were brought to me in that time, they sucked and were rude. A sweet young lady that I hadn't seen in the bar area when I arrived named Marissa brought me my meal with a smile she's was and the only one deserving of a tip.
Went to eat on 12/9/2022 and order a fajita nachos and I’m not gone lie it was very good but the fajitas they put were like 6 pieces now come on I know you got to pay for the new place but at least make it worse the price for the plate you order put more fajitas in it went back on 2/28/2023 wrong choices to do order a carne guisada and it was nasty cold and ask for double rice and got beans somebody don’t know how to read an order and my ticket had double rice on it I don’t think I be returning that’s just one more place in plainview that sucks need better restaurants in plainview
Pay $10 for fajita nachos. Three Corn tortillas, Half a cup of shredded cheese and 1/4 cup of fajita meat. Throw in the microwave and served me!
Food was very bland. I ordered fajitas that came out cold. Service is lacking.
Ordered a soft taco plate... told me it would be a little extra cuz we wanted flour and they give a little more meat, said that's fine... get there open plate and RIDICULOUS!! Hardly any meat at all and then was told it was 3 dollars more for the flour... manager Laura even told me they gave me extra meat and still more tortilla than anything, she even tried to say it was because of inflation... NEVER AGAIN... if we had other better Mexican restaurants in town this place would be CLOSED... only the best by default
I ordered a medium rare steak. What i received was a hockey puck smothered in the melted remains of a cheese flavored petroleum byproduct. Woulnd not recommend.
I got the Tacos a la Mexicana, it barely had any meat, and the tortillas were soaked in oil for no reason. I could understand if the tortillas were fried or even crispy but they were neither just heated up. The mexican rice tasted like it came from a bag same with the refried bean but at least the bag ones have flavor . The orange juice we received tasted like orange colored water . The fries also had 0 seasoning. I’m not sure how this place has so many good reviews but those people are either drunk or smokers with no taste buds . I would call this place “Leal’s cheap tasteless version of mexican food “ rather than “leal’s mexican restaurant”. If I could put 0 stars, trust me I would.
I went to Leals with my family and the food was just not hitting! I have NEVER went to a Mexican restaurant where all the food was not even barely lukewarm! The fries were soggy, queso dip was cold and clumpy and when I mentioned it, they just took what was on the table and put it in the microwave! The manager was not interested at all in us expressing our experience and just said next time say it as soon as the food comes to the table! She didn’t try to rectify anything even though she saw the food barely touched! There won’t be a next time!!! $100 for terrible food is highway robbery!
Went in at 11:30AM for lunch and waited 10 minutes to get seated. When we were finally seated the host said "I wasn't supposed to seat you guys and it's going to take a long while before we take your order." So we decided to leave. As we are walking out she immediately sits the couple who walked in and did not tell them the same thing. The entire experience was unprofessional.
We had lunch here this was rhe worst experience we have had and will not be going back. The lady we talked to said ok we don't need your business. Our server did a fine job, he didn't know the menu very well. We had 3 menus, 2 had the same prices, one was the higher. My husband does not like onions, tomatoes or anything in his ground beef and the server didnt know if it came in there or not. We ordered fried ice cream it was not fried. The server told us how it was done and when the manage came and talked to us she told a different story, you could tell by the ice cream which way was accurate. The manager lied to us. If the manager is not appreciative of her customers maybe she does not need them. Very disappointed in her response to questions we had.
45 minute wait for a table of 7 the girls in the front kept seating down other people that came in after us. Their excuse is they were waiting for a server to come. It’s 8PM don’t y'all close at 9PM. We won’t be back again.
The food here is not what we expected . Overpriced for what we ordered and taste. Staff had an attitude and offered little assistance in regards to their menu. Seemed put out by basic questions. Or they just didn't know the answers. Chips were great. The sausa not that appeasing to us. Tomato sauce. We will not return there are better options for dining.
