Delicious! I came here for a quick lunch and was not disappointed. The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly, and the atmosphere was calm and clean, elegant and inviting. I ordered the bulgogi bento box lunch with miso soup, shrimp tempura, and a tuna roll - all for $17! The tempura was light and crisp. The bulgogi was savory and sweet, perfectly marinated. All aspects of the tuna roll where perfect. I will be returning!
Edoko Omakase is dangerous and I mean that in the best way possible. This place has ruined me on sushi by setting the bar so high, I no longer enjoy eating at some of my older favorites. Chef Lee does an amazing job, sushi is superb and if you enjoy a little adventure in your pallate then come here and get the Omakase. Customer service is a stand out as well the staff don't make you feel stupid for not knowing how to pronounce something or if you are unfamiliar with the menu. Eat here, just do it you won't regret it.
This was the best sushi I’ve had in my entire life. The service was absolutely phenomenal. The music they were playing was fantastic. Nari made me feel cared for and at home. I was able to get in and out of this restaurant in 30 minutes because the service was so attentive, which was great as I was in a rush. This is now my new sushi home and I can’t wait to come here again. :)
We would like to thank Sarah, for treating us like a special guest on our first visit, for making our drinks perfectly balanced and guided us through the menu impeccably delicious. We can’t wait to go back because we appreciate real Japanese cuisine. Everything is flavorful, beautifully presented and clean. We can’t wait to go back, it’s just perfect!!!
Wow! On my first visit here tonight, I enjoyed the freshest sushi in town. The wait staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and the food was divine - from salad to sashimi to sushi rolls to fried rice. A great experience, start to finish! This is now my new Go To place for a great sushi experience.
I came in for lunch and it was spectacular. Down to the last details. The wasabi was very course and more powerful than any wasabi I had ever had. It was pulpy. I had uni, their version of a rainbow roll which was more like a cherachi sashimi sampler. My chef David was a master. I think everyone should make a trip here. Quality like uchi but priced better.
So delicious! The chefs hail from Nobu and Uchi. I wasn’t as adventuresome as I normally am but I can assure you that you are selecting one of the finest sushi restaurants in the DFW. The spicy tuna on crispy rice is so yummy. The robata was so flavorful. & The cheesecake is house made. Parking is easy. Enjoy this little taste of heaven. I found the menu very affordable which is a bonus for this caliber of sushi. arigatō!
Service is outstanding. The servers consistently check in and are very friendly. The ambiance is relaxed and comfortable - perfect for a get together with your friends or a date night. (Bring your kids and/or picky eaters during lunch time for fried rice and other options not available during dinner). The food is the real star, though. Miso soup and all the sushi we’ve tried has been delicious. Highly recommend the nigiri maguro tasting. So good I could cry.
I couldn't wait to try Edoko Omakase since pre pandemic Era. Now that I finally had a chance to do so, it was impressive. Hands down the best presentation and details to the omakase. I give it 4 stars since there is always room to improve. Amount of rice and the way it was grabbed can improve, but hey...we are in Dallas. It was better than Sake and Nobu IMO. - I went back on 1/21/2022, I changed it to 5 stars. If you are a foodie like myself, just go try then out. It is spectacular-
We enjoyed 3 different Japanese tacos and Omakase . From the off menu tacos to the 6 courses omakase- everything was delicious! You are given soy sauce & wasabi but you won’t need it. They are all about customer satisfaction and on point service to boot. I look forward to going back.
Visited for lunch today with a friend. I just want to say that, in addition to a wonderful meal, I had a delightful waitress. She had just the right balance of affability and efficiency. She recognized I was new to sushi and I needed help on what to select and did not rush me. I also had the privilege of meeting the owner, Sara. She’s a very professional, kind and genuine owner. You feel very welcomed and relaxed at her sushi restaurant. She and other staff members made certain that we had everything we needed. Kudos!
Visited here on their soft opening! Chef Lee took care of us masterfully! He used to be at Nobu Dallas. Everything was so fresh and tasty, and there are many nice menus. The interior is also very modern and clean. It is great to have a good quality sushi place in las colinas! I loved the uni especially!
This sushi spot is a hidden gem in Las Colinas that serves top notch and high quality fish, coupled with amazing ambiance. Our server was also extremely helpful, friendly, and prompt! I'm actually upset that we didn't decide to stop by sooner considering we live in the area. A must have - one of the best high-end sushi spots in the DFW for sure!
It's an insult that I can't give this place a higher score! What comes after "perfect"? If you want a taste of how Japanese food tastes in Japan, go here. Both the food and service were Japan level! Me and my friends each did the omakase (chef's choice, changes everytime you go) and an appetizer of karaage (Japanese fried chicken) and the smoked duck hotate (scallops). The omakase was 6 courses consisting of an appetizer, chawanmushi (steamed egg dish), sashimi, rice dish, nigiri sushi, dessert. Again, the chef makes up the courses based on what's in season, so I don't know if this is the pattern every time but these are the courses we got, and I believe there's always a sushi and shashimi course. By the end my smaller friend was stuffed, but me and her husband were contently full. Appetizer course: chu-Toro tartare on a tenpura shiso leaf and a lobster fried rice ball topped with ikura (salmon eggs) This was a great start! The tartare has almost like a taco set up with the tenpura shiso leaf, but it's not heavy and the shiso leaf adds a refreshing element to the dish. The rice ball was good, but I regret eating it in one bite. I feel like if I ate it in 2 I'd get more flavor and could enjoy the Wasabi mayo it came with more Chawanmushi course: chawanmushi topped with crab The moment the waiter lifted the lid, the look and smell brought me back to my life in Japan. My Japanese friend said it was a little over salted, which I disagree with so maybe it was just hers, but the one thing that the dish was missing was ingredients in the chawanmushi like mushrooms, seafood, or leafy greens, but since this was just one dish out of 6 maybe they did this so it wouldn't be as filling. Still an amazing dish and probably my favorite course, as a whole. Shashimi course: aji (mackerel), maguro (tuna), ebi (shrimp), shake (salmon), hotate (scallop) and tako (octopus) Disclaimer, I'm not a big shashimi fan. It's ok, just not my cup of tea. However, this was a good course, especially the scallop! It was sweet and had a nice texture. The rest was OK as well, tasty and fresh Rice course: truffle uni (sea urchin) risotto Just, wow. This is one of those dishes you purposely eat slow because you want to savor every bite. The uni comes on top so you can add a little to each spoonful, mix it into the risotto, or take it off and give it to your closest friend/lover/favorite family member (because giving someone uni is a symbol of pure love lol). I mixed mine together and loved it. The uni isn't overpowering and unlike some uni, this one was more savory than sweet. This course may actually tie with the chawanmushi course when looking at my favorite course as a whole, or be a very close 2nd Sushi course: chu-toro (medium fatty tuna), Hamachi (yellow fin tuna), aji (mackerel), kinmedai (golden eye snapper), firefly squid, Japanese uni (sea urchin) Although the chawanmushi and rice course were my favorite courses as a whole, my best bites of this entire 6 course meal were here. When you get this sushi course, you are suggested an order in which to eat the sushi, in this case start with the chu-toro and go left to the uni. The chu-toro was amazing, with a soft texture than and light umami taste. The Japanese uni sushi, unlike the uni in the risotto, was sweet and taste just like the sea. These two were my favorite bites of the whole night! The other sushi was good too! No complaints about the other 4, and out side of the chu-toro and uni, the kinmedai and squid were also really good! Dessert course: yuzu cheese cake From Start to Finish, all these courses were phenomenal and the dessert was no different sticking the landing and finishing the night off strong! Yuzu is a common citrus in Japan which can be best described as an incredible refreshing lemon flavor that is never over powering or too sour. The cheese cake was light and refreshing, the perfect end to an unforgettable parade of flavors. I can't recommend this place enough! Probably going to be the best place I go to all year, and I went to Hell's kitchen this year!
My boyfriend and I dined in early on a Saturday evening. Typically at sushi restaurants, we like to order an assortment of sashimi, nigiri, and robata grilled meats/vegetables if available. This evening, we went on a whim went went for an omakase option. Food and Drinks: 5/5 - My boyfriend ordered the Edoko Old Fashioned (a twist on a bourbon Old Fashioned with a blended Japanese whisky instead) and I ordered the Yuzu Chuhai (refreshing and citrusy). No complaints there! The tasting menu was excellent in variety, quality, and pacing. My boyfriend and I agree that the highlight was the 6 piece premium nigiri (fish on rice) box. There was a recommended order to try each piece and every bite was delicious. I will also add that this place differentiates itself with house-made desserts. Definitely save room to finish strong with something sweet! For those concerned about price point, we felt it was worth the price, especially if you consider quality over quantity. My boyfriend and I did initially have concerns around course 2 or 3 that we wouldn't be full made a back up plan to order extra food before dessert. However, when our nigiri boxes arrived (course 5 of 6), we changed our minds so we would have room for dessert. Service: 5/5 - We were unsure if we wanted to get the nigiri omakase or the six course tasting menu. Our server Sophiya was very knowledgable and described both the Nigiri Omakase and the Six Course Tasting menu with great detail. After listening to her advice, we decided on the six course tasting menu for more variety. As each course came out, she described the ingredients with detail and even had some fun facts to share! Additionally, the chef and server accommodated food preferences and allergies without any trouble (I have a nut allergy and my boyfriend prefers no wasabi.) Atmosphere: 5/5 - The decor was simple, beautiful, and clean. I used to be a bartender so I make a habit of checking out the bar area wherever I go. I look for an uncluttered and organized set up and was not disappointed. My boyfriend was amused when I told him I wanted a rose gold cobbler shaker just like the one I saw on the bar. I had my back to the sushi bar, but whenever I glanced back, everything looked beautifully displayed and clean.
What an interesting and creative Omakase dining experience. Chef Lee is really creative in fusing Korean, Japanese and TEX-MEX into a fine dining experience. The service and staff is friendly. The Teriyaki Salmon is delicious and unlike any traditional conceptions you have. It is the same theme with everything we ordered. The calamari is spicy and seems to be infused with Sichuan peppercorns. The kids loved the shrimp tempura and each had like 5.
Edoko Omakase is such a wonderful sushi restaurant in the Las Colinas area. I stopped by for lunch while I was in town for work, and was so satisfied that I went back for dinner at night. I opted for the omakase at dinner which was spread across 6 courses (including dessert). The star of the show is definitely Chef Jun's nigiri. His craft is immaculate. The fish is fresh, there's a perfect amount of variety, and it's not overbearing with sauce or toppings so you can appreciate the fish. I think the 5-piece nigiri sampler is perfect for someone who wants to experience something a little different than just rolls. I would've loved to see a larger nigiri-focused menu option, but I think the 5+ a la carte also works perfect. For the first couple dishes, I think the presentation could use a bit of flair (particularly the chawanmushi). I'm also not a huge fan of aspic, but that's more personal. The Foie Gras Risotto was delicious, although quite a bit of a jump in umami/flavor than the more mild appetizers. Sara and her team are wonderful and you can tell the passion they put into the business! Will definitely come back when I'm in the area again.
This is the most reasonably priced HIGH quality sushi place we have found in Dallas area. We come here for special events and the service has always been amazing. We have never needed reservations. Last time we tried the full tasting menu which is the way to go! They also have an all nigiri tasting which we will do next time for sure. Highlights: the oysters with caviar were surprisingly our favorites. Dress is pretty casual so this is perfect if you just want to relax and eat delicious sushi.
This is an incredibly nice experience from start to finish. I did feel like I could have gotten more quantity in most other places but the quality was top notch putting it in the same category of authentic sushi I had in Japan. They accommodated my food allergies of egg, gluten, and dairy without any issues but I couldn't order the Omakase because the food is pre marinated in early that had gluten. Overall this was a nice change of pace that I can easily recommend, but it comes with a price.
This spot is a hidden gem. That sushi rice flavor and texture is excellent. The fish specials are flown in from Japan and chef says they have the same supplier as Hatsuyuki. Food style and quality is excellent. It is simple and elegant in a more true edo style sushi. Contrary to alot of other spots the flavors aren't drowned in mayo based sauces. Their new menu items were a great hit for my tastes. Texture and flavors are awesome I recommend the fries green beans especially. Their tempura is lightly battered and deliciously crispy. Chef sent out a small osecchi box that had some fun pickled dishes to go with the bottle of sake I ordered. Speaking of sake. Edoko easily has one of the best sake selections in dfw. The sakes would all be highly rated in Japan and they range across all spectrums of the sake taste profile. I'd honestly go just to sit at the bar and drink their sake menu down. Rec would be the dassai 45 as they pour it from 1.8!
I wish I took more pictures! This sushi spot was an absolute delight all around - from service to food quality to price point. My friends and I came during my lunch and we got a variety of appetizers to start. The highlight was the Okra tempura, something I've never seen before as a Japanese food regular. The nigiri bento Box was up next, and the quality of the fish for the cost was unparalleled. We each got six pieces- tuna, salmon, flounder, black tiger shrimp, snapper (real snapper!), and saba. The food was so good that we decided to also order some extra nigiri and appetizers afterwards and the entire experience will be a memorable one. Can't recommend enough!
I visited this restaurant while on a business trip nearby, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. The sushi was incredibly fresh, and the omakase selection was exactly what I was looking for. Each piece reflected the chefs’ care and dedication. On top of that, the service was warm and attentive. Everything exceeded my expectations — both in taste and hospitality. Highly recommended!
This place has some really good sushi. The only disappointing part was paying $30 for a sampler plate that came with smaller portions than expected. That said, I can’t complain about the quality. The food was absolutely delicious. For the price, it’s definitely better to go with the rolls. The lotus chips were something new for me; they were spicy with a wasabi kick, but still very good.
Sarah was super friendly and super talented. Before this my friend was the best sushi chef I ever had. After this me and my wife told my friend he finally got outdone. Amazing food and quality.
The best sushi I have had. And the staff is incredible! I cannot downplay how fantastic the quality is. It is bar none the freshest sushi I have had. The price reflects it, but it's completely worth it. Some nights have a bit of a wait, but I am 100% fine with waiting for the food when it's of such great standards.
Our 1st time dining here for my son's birthday. The space was intimate enough for our large party of 10. Service was wonderful even though they were short staffed in a Saturday. Our waitress was attentive and her recommendations were amazing! Omakase is what they are known for but we didn't get to try. However everything we ordered was so delicious!! Our party really enjoyed it! I have never had such sweet and buttery scallops before! 🤌 They take reservations for large parties. Can't wait to return for date nite and try the Omakase!! Definitely worth the gas from Arlington!
I've lived in Japan for a long time and I'm very sensitive about the taste of sushi, but the sushi here is a quality that you can taste at a famous sushi restaurant in Ginza, Japan. The young owner's smile is so beautiful, and if you want to feel the taste of original sushi in Japan, you should visit here..
Delicious food and wonderful service !! My mom has Celiac disease (she can’t have gluten) and the staff was very attentive and careful about the preparation of all the food, much more so than other sushi places I’ve been to in the area. Great server and everyone is very polite! The food was also wonderful, pricey but worth it in my opinion. I will definitely come back :)
Higher end sushi, well presented too. I had specialty roll and regular roll, both excellent, and the chef's selection appetizer was unique and tasty.
Amazing food and experience! I went here for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend. We were so impressed with the quality of service and fish. The rolls are unique and delicious. Nigiri was top notch. They were careful to place each party far away from each other which I appreciated. The ambience was so lovely in the restaurant. They were also so kind to give us a birthday dessert (and other freebies due to some circumstances with their inventory). The staff was transparent with us. You can really tell the chef and staff care about the customers and their experience with them. We'll be coming back for more!
The best sushi place in Dallas even compared to uchi, tatsu, and other top rated places. The chef Lee is so amazing and especially flavoring the fish where I never tasted before. They seem to improve their service and menus past 2yrs since they opened which is always plus for revisiting customers. I just love it and can't wait to come back!!!
I've only been once, but had a good experience. Went for lunch and had the sushi bento. Price is very reasonable for lunch considering the food quality and clean presentation. You can tell a bit more care and time was taken instead of just churning it out as fast as possible. Looking the menu it looks like it could be a bit expensive for dinner. I probably wouldn't expect to pay that much for sushi in the middle of Irving. I've been to some of the other competitors in the area and this place was a noticeably better experience. That said, I'm sure I'll try to make it back there for lunch.
Chef Lee was amazing! We ordered the Signature Platter and it was such an experience. He educated us on what fish paired well with each ingredient. And all of their fish is fresh on Thursdays!! Sarah was also amazing. She was very welcoming and made sure we were all taken care of. 5 star experience all the way! 😁😁
Although a little more pricey than what I am used to Edoko is a fantastic place to dine. The ambiance made me feel comfortable, like I was walking into a place I had been a hundred times and the staff made me feel like we were long friends. They have a small yet relevant menu that will leave your taste buds tingling for more! Our waitress was so incredibly kind and attentive ensuring all of our needs were met before we even knew we had them. 100 out of 100 will continue to give Edoko my service! Thank you to Edoko staff for giving us a wonderful and enjoyable dining experience!
Some of the best sushi that I’ve had in the DFW area. Definitely an unassuming building and location, but I say you definitely should give this place a try. The quality of the fish is top notch, and the chefs prepare it amazingly so it’s beautifully seasoned and tasted wonderfully.
Wow! I cannot believe I would ever say this, but this has to be the best sushi restaurant I've ever been in. The service is quick friendly, and efficient even when it's packed. They even warned us that the orders will take longer because they're at max capacity, but they were able to give us appetizers and tend to any other needs we had. Now to the REAL reason I am floored by this restaurant. The sushi is sooooooo sooooooo fresh, it literally melts in your mouth. I've never had sushi taste like a while meal from one bite. Do you want to know why I'm even more surprised? Most often then not, sushi restaurants aren't as fresh by the end of the night, but not this one! It felt like everything they made was caught at the lake only hours ago. And if anything can convince you, it's the fact that the place was packed with Japanese people. As a person of color, I always say if you want to eat authentic ethnic food look to where the people of that food go! I haven't been wrong about it so far!
Let me start by qualifying: we eat a lot of high end sushi. And we love it. This place is absolutely the best. I sit in shock every time wondering how it’s possible to get a table. For those that have not visited, visit, you will thank this recommendation. Once you sit down, Id recommend the following: Spicy tuna on crispy rice Uni shooter (pricey but their uni is super fresh and this is the best way to taste it, balanced and amazing) Signature spicy tuna (don’t worry, it’s 100x better than whatever you’re thinking) Softshell (it’s different, but it’s my favorite. Lite curry, amazing flavor combo) Signature spicy hamachi (fresh, balanced, amazing!) This place is worth every penny. Check it out
love this place! sushi is fresh and the staff is so kind, attentive and friendly. the drinks are great!
Staff is amazing, and food is incredible. Shocked this place isn’t booked all night on a Friday. Overall incredible quality.
A hidden gem amongst the DFW restaurant scene and a much better option than any of the fashionable Dallas uptown places. The food is always delicious and the fish is fresh. The Omakase is a testament to the chef's skill and creativity. The menu is constantly evolving and it will have something for everybody. The service is excellent and the servers are always friendly. Edoko Omakase also has a superb selection of sake to complement any meal. All of this combined with reasonable prices makes Edoko a top choice for sushi.
Just excellent, all around. I rarely bother to leave reviews but this sweet little place deserves it
The 6 course dinner was the best decision I’ve ever made. I went with a food connoisseur and they similarly agreed that the quality, presentation and overall taste is Michelin level. We were treated to some of the best service, atmosphere and attention to detail we both have ever had. This is a five star experience and Chef Sara is a master of her craft. Everything was hand selected and crafted by her expertise and we are so grateful. If you have anyone you need to impress, this hidden gem will earn you praise I assure you. Please take my heartfelt recommendation that I don’t think I’ll ever have a better meal in my life. She also has a coffee and pastry shop that is worth every penny. Great job and please continue the art of fine food! Thank you.
Dinner and service were great. Had spicy tuna on crispy rice, salmon avocado maki, crispy shrimp maki, and various nigiri. Spicy tuna was actually spicy unlike most places. Music was at an appropriate volume and not too loud.
We've eaten at Edoko twice now since it opened and it's quickly become one of our favorite places for Sushi in DFW. The quality of the fish and the care with which it's prepared is better than the baseline expectation I have for other local places that sincerely make and serve "good sushi". You may find some in downtown Dallas that would edge them out but you'd better be prepared to spend twice as much. Service has been good on both of our visits as well. The staff and management are especially friendly and professional making sure you have what you need and keeping drinks filled quickly. All-in I think what stands out the most to us is how comfortable the place is. The dining room is well appointed and straddles the line between crisp and inviting really well. With the confidence we have in the food quality this is a spot that would work for a Date night to have a few rolls and some drinks as well as a weekday lunch.
I’ve been blessed to have been able to try a lot of Japanese restaurants and now Edoko Omakase is one of them. This restaurant unfortunately opened during COVID times but they’ve managed to persevere and serve some outstanding food regardless. It was my first time but I actually didn’t opt for the omakase because I wanted to test out their menu items a la carte and judge it from there. All I can say is the presentation is amazing and the quality is superb. Both sushi and kitchen items were great and they even serve fresh wasabi on the shark skin grater (I only see this at high end Japanese restaurants and in Japan). I was thoroughly impressed since they could easily match restaurants like Tei-An, Uchi, Tei-Tei, etc. The ambience is very cozy and the wood structuring gives a nice touch. To end it all off though, the service was the best part of my dining experience. My server’s name was Uria and her service is top notch. I will say I am definitely spoiled when it comes to timing of dishes and wanting certain courses like sushi and appetizers to come out first while heavier items last. With this said, she noted this down and coursed everything out beautifully. I will definitely be requesting her again next time I come because she is attentive, doesn’t make you feel rushed, and also willing to listen to any criticisms. I hope Edoko Omakase stays for the long run because I can already see it as a gem and people coming through once word gets around! See ya soon ✌🏻
I found a newly opened Japanese restaurant that serves omakase style. It's very rare in Irving, TX. This place is comparable to Uchi n Nobu. The Executive Chef, Chef Lee used to work at Nobu. His omakase style is very subtle. He said his style is to alleviate the natural flavor and the freshness of the fish, and not to be overwhelmed with sauces or spices. It's really good. Highly recommended. **For more recommended places to eat, check out and follow Instagram @mrakusuma**
Did the omakase set course. Food came out a bit slowly between courses, but was very high quality ingredients and delicious. Definitely would come back again. We had tuna tartare, couple oysters, scallops, fatty tuna, sea urchin, mackerel and a couple seasonal fishes and finished out with cheesecake. I wasn't necessarily full by the end of the omakase course, but everything was delicious. To supplement it stomachs, we ordered some karaage and a scallop hand roll which was delicious. The karaage was white meat but still very juicy and crisp on the outside.
Service was good (not counting order time) however food-wise, only the rolls were not to my tastes. Sushi pieces were really fresh, the thing that irked me was that it took a little while for everything to come out even though there was only 1 other party. Roll took even longer coming last at around 15-20mins. The Roll I got was the volcano roll and it isn't really like any other volcano roll in the Dallas area. I was expecting the spicy mayo glaze with California base however there really was no use of spicy mayo, nor California base or any type of volcano sauce. The base sushi was just a rice roll with a whole stick of imitation crab meat and avocado. Definitely not used to this nor do I like it so will most likely avoid it for next time. Overall my only real gripe was that the volcano roll is not really a volcano and should probably be called a crunchy crawfish roll or something.
Food was amazing. We were sat promptly. Took a while to be greeted by our server. We order a platter and split it. Perfect platter. Never had eel but I enjoyed it. It seemed like the one server had the whole lobby.. when she came back we order the Tuna pizza it too was good. We would of ordered entrees but it was taking forever for the server to come back to us we basically had to call her over. Probably not her fault they were pretty busy just wish I had the chance to experience more.
No tiene mucho ambiente la comida es bien servida ,de calidad, pero pequeñas cantidades..
Average sushi for more than average prices. The sushi here is average at best but is very expensive. Maybe if you are looking for a place with a nice ambiance where food isn’t the priority then this place is great. The service and everything else was good but not the food. I had better sushi than this for almost half the price. I’d recommend going to blue fish in the area. Three stars are for the ambiance and the servers. They were completely fine.
The food and quality was good. However, the amount of food you get for the price was not worth it. Especially compared to the other omakases we’ve been to in the DFW area. We definitely had to order more dishes outside of it in order to even ‘scratch the surface’. They also told us service would be a little shorter due to a shortage of staff, which we said was okay. However, we noticed certain guests being catered to more attentively. A table sat next to us 15-20mins later, but we receive the first course the same time. We didn’t pay too much attention to the Al la carte prices, but maybe you’ll get more of your moneys worth with it..who knows.
It was not the omakase experience I had expected. It didn't seem special or intimate with the chef. The chef spent more time making other people's sushi than ours, nor was there a lot of interaction. But to be fair it was busy and its hard to entertain and vigorously pump out sushi. I was only excited by 2 or 3 nigiri's. I find the coldness of the fish to be much more pleasant and enjoyable experience over room temperature fish, some of which were on the edge of freshness. I also noted the use of the butane torch, which quite frankly i am not sure what the purpose is for at Edoko. Drying the flesh of the fish? I've only had 2 other omakase experiences, so i am by no means claiming to be a connoisseur. At both of these others they seared the mean to add crisp texture/browning, while at Edoko it seemed to not do or add anything of value, if i am wrong here, my apologies. I wanted to take my family to do an omakase experience that was supposed to be wide eye opening, because i know that they come from nothing and would never spend that much in their entire frugal life, but this experience was not it, especially for the final bill amount. My other observations: Ambience wise it felt like a brand new car without AC. Everything was great to look, drive and feel, but it just felt mildly uncomfortable. From the noise inside (bad interior acoustics coupled with some loud guests made it hard to speak to family). The bathroom water faucet pressure was also just a dribble and the area looked unkept. The online website would succeed greatly from photos as well as slightly more description. I had no idea what a beef tataki was and i really expected something hot, it was not. It felt like slightly edged up sushi that i could get else where, and after many rave reviews from friends i would rather go elsewhere. That said i enjoyed the small dishes i got and may possible go back. Out of 5: poor/fair/good/very good/amazing Overall: Fair Food: Good Service: Good Ambience/Design: Very Good Ambiance/Noise: Poor Value: Fair
Food is amazing. Service is excellent. But you feel like you’re sitting in a Taco Bell. Dimming the lights and adding some decor would be a huge game changer for this place. These prices would be more appreciated with a nice atmosphere.
The food was great. Made a reservation for 8 pm. We were late arriving and I called to say we much. When I arrived I found out they closed at 930 and half the menu was off limits. The servers also took their time in coming to take for our order.
If you know your sushi, you will not enjoy your experience. The atmosphere in this restaurant is dictated by the poor construction of the shell of the building. The single pane glass lets in the outside, and the improvements made by the restaurant only thinly mask the poor quality of the facility. The food is average but not any better than that. Cocktails unremarkable. While the restaurant prides itself on its Omakase menu, somehow that menu is simultaneously overly creative and unimaginative. There are much better options closer to Central Dallas. Don't go out of your way to find this place.
Maybe I expected too much based on their reputation and reviews. It was our first time to visit so we ordered two chef choices but they were not good as I expected. Overall, I don’t feel that they use better grade of fishes compared to other restaurants. They should use better one if you put higher price. Mackerel was very fishy. It shouldn’t be that fishy if it is fresh. Also scallop was warm which made me worried about food safety. We also tried yuzu cheese cake and I don’t recommend it. It is not Japanese style. Japanese style would be much softer and light. However, I like their sushi rice. The rice was well seasoned. The texture of rice is just right. Servers were kind but I don’t like the online menu. It was too hard to read all the menu at once and it took so many times to find what we are looking for.
Disappointed visit!!! very few options in appetisers and the quality & portion of the rolls were poor. Prices & the quality & portion size doesn’t match. Taste was just ok. Felt Kroger sushi was much better. Since the name is familiar to the one we visited in Richardson, thought they opened a location in Irving and expected similar quality. We don’t mind the cost if the quality was outstanding. But this was horrible. Never going back & enters my do not go list.
Sashimi quality good, but not great, not for the prices they charge. Signature Rainbow roll not worth the price either. Service was a little slow. Will not be back as there there are plenty of other Japanese restaurants with same quality & better service for 25-30% less $.
The service was underwhelming, and the food was the same. I wish the music was a little louder, so we didn't have to listen to the tipsy granny's at the bar talking about car rental services.
I’ll give it a 2 star because the girl in the front was such a sweet girl! She was definitely the reason why I gave this place at least some stars, however my sushi was not good. Way too salty for me, and was expecting this place to be delicious but not to my liking. The inside is beautiful extremely fancy sushi place but sushi is a no go.
Way over priced!!! Some reviews said it was like a mall sushi yes . We did the omakase and expected quality and the sushi grade was very average especially if you eat omakase and high quality sushi. It’s presentation and serving you uni and some other fishes that gets the eye but those qualities are not high end!! Both husband and I were disappointed as we paid close to 300 without alcohol . You would think you would get quality food but a waste !! Good to get roles maybe cute environment but wayyyy overpriced . It’s just the experience I think that people havnt had and think it’s good but not if you have had quality sushi before you can really tell the difference. I think if they were priced less then it would be ok but to pay 120 person for omakase , I’m expected quality fish!!! One time try but will be looking for another place
Let me start by saying I have never posted a negative review. But unfortunately this place is my first one. My husband took me here for our sixth wedding anniversary and to say it was a disappointment is an understatement. We ordered the chefs selections and it was nothing special. The food came out slow, with twenty minute windows in between each serving, and that’s me being gracious. We spent good money for what felt like a horrible experience, poor service and sub par sushi. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
