The ONLY complaint I have about this place is they're too far from my house :(
The food was great! I had a tacos and my husband had a breakfast plate! Everything was delicious and the service was great!!
Great customer service, amazing atmosphere, very flavorful good, seasonings were great. Highly recommend 💙.
Great food and service. Definitely will return. Party of 15.
I have the fortune to be able to eat in any place i want....so I tried this place...it was by far much better than all the places by the riverwalk combined. The taste and the price incomparable. We spent 106.00 for 4 people with 3 appetizers and hand made horchata and lemonade. Definitely I truly recommend it.
Sometimes review criteria can be off. Typically my prerequisite is 4.5 stars or higher (won’t look at anything under). So grateful the other restaurant was overbooked. Nicely decorated inside with really nice booths and ornate chairs. Upon arrival, we sat ourselves and observed the waiter bringing chips and salsa within a minute (very fast and attentive to their customers). We ordered 1/2 an order of nachos and filled ourselves up before our meal (our meals were delicious for breakfast the next day). The fajita beef was well seasoned, and the nachos were really well done. Husband ordered the plate with burrito, beans and rice, I got the mini birria quesadilla’s. So much food, and a bill under $40 for two people. Don’t miss out on this great find!
The decorations and furniture are beautiful and the personnel are really nice. Servers are laid back and don't "intrude". They will watch from a distance and it is easy to get their attention when needed. Their dishes are well cooked, presented and delicious.
Picked picked up two dozen tacos for the office. Ordered 10 minutes in advance and only had to wait about 5 minutes once I got there. Was a little shocked at the price, hadn't ordered tacos in a while. But everything's going up, so there's that. Had several people at the office comment how great the tacos were and where they were from.
Been coming here for a decade, the quality is good and the service usually is too. That said, their prices are higher than they used to be to where there are similar/cheaper options and honestly they are really skimping with some of their breakfast tacos. Like putting in so little sometimes to where calling it a taco is generous, as shown in the photo below. If they can fix that, I’ll come here for another decade, but been disappointed last few times Update: things have definitely improved last few times I've been here, back to how they have historically been, and so it will remain my go-to spot when I'm in town. It does seem to vary a little bit depending on who is working the drive through window (if the woman who's usually there is working, the food is always better), but it's always good still at least nowadays. Keep the portions and flavors like they have been and I'll keep coming!
So happy to find an authentic Mexican food restaurant open till 11:00 p.m. on a Saturday evening. The food, atmosphere and service were excellent. Food arrived quickly and was delicious. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and is very comfortable. This will definitely be one of our favorite restaurants to dine at. Looking forward to visiting again soon. Thank you to the staff and the owner. 👏👏👏💖☮️
Menu is huge this time I had quesabirrias, portion was generous only can eat two 😋
First of all friendly staff food always fresh everything is delicious my favorite chalupa de ceviche delicious had more than a few time delicious.
Excellent food, fast friendly service, nice and clean, very well run place.
The hot chicken soup I tried from this restaurant was just fine. Didn't stand out but it wasn't bad at all. I think their nacho appetizer is home-made which is a plus. The ambience of the place is amazing. The place is clean. The tables and chairs are to behold -- fine wood masterpieces wirh tables professionally laminated. Staff was friendly and helpful. Sorry forgot to take pics!
First time here ,Fast service, food was very good and clean.
Really good tex mexican jalisco food. If I had to add criticism it would be I would have wanted garlic onions and bellpeppers in the rice and perhaps more Camino in the beans. But I'm pretty satisfied with everything as a whole . RED Enchiladas were perfect . CHIPS WERE FRESH AND CRISP . Tea was nice fresh and sweet. Excellent service I would definitely be back .
Don't know about the atmosphere as I've only used their drive through. Woman at the window is very nice and their tacos are awesome!
Excellent Food! Wait staff wasn't really attentive, but my food was terrific. 2-18-22: still my go-to spot for enchiladas. Our waitress was on point tonight and the food was awesome! 2-8-23: got the beef fajitas this time, but my wife still loves the enchiladas. Waitress was great and the food was still great!
First visit and I will say now. We will be returning. Everything was delicious. There was a little of a wait to get our food but wasn't a problem. Our server was fair. Only problem was after she dropped our food off to us she never came back to see if we needed anything else. My son had the Mexican Plate and I had the Enchiladas Ranchero. Shown in picture. All food came out piping hot and delicious.
We normally stop for breakfast but on occasions we have dinner. Food is always amazing, during dinner they serve alcohol .
I am loving this place. I've been here 3 times now. I always get the special and pay around 8 bucks. Great value and service as well. My only complaint would be the crunchy chips. I know it sounds weird but they are overly crunchy. I bet you could put some in your Menudo and an hour later they would still be crunchy. Definitely give this place a try.
My favorite dish from here is the chicken tortilla soup 🤤 my husband and I order it all the time that I think they are starting to recognize us and know what we want when we sit down hehe. And if you judge a place by their rice, imo is good. It has good flavor, is not dry or clumpy. If Google had a category for parking, I would give a 2. Their parking lot has pot holes and can be difficult to navigate around to find a spot when you are competing with the drive through line. They own the seafood restaurant caddy corner to them and I would recommend that place too, just wear a jacket because it's cold, but that's for a different review
The food here was very delicious tasted very Mexican authentic fresh would recommend this place if you’re nearby.
I found this place on accident because Chelas was closed. But me and the Wife are glad. This place was delicious, good service, fast service, and the price was more than reasonable. Whenever I come to San Antonio I will definitely bring my friends and family here!!! Guy Fieri come check this place out if you haven’t already !!!!
The tacos here were so good and the lemonade ! Great spot to stop and pick up tacos I wish the girls had a better attitude but the food made up for the service .
Great food and service. The pozole and taco special is delicious 😋 Al pastor is my favorite and the michelada hit the spot.
Tacos were a good size. I got a bean and cheese w/ bacon and it was my favorite, the beans were SO delicious they definitely had something added to them. The other taco I got was a chorizo con huevo and it was alright. Service was great!
Stopped by to have good Mexican food and the place didn’t disappoint. The service, cleanliness and food were great. Highly recommend if you visiting San Antonio
What a wonderful authentic place for a meal. The service was perfect, quick, friendly and attentive staff. I asked my waitress for her recommendation, Fajitas del Norte, they were amazing. Full of flavor, not too spicy just enough for a good upper lip sweat (I mean that in a good way). The decor inside was beautiful and tastefully done. I will be back to try some of their other dishes. 12/6/25 UPDATE: Came back again this time breakfast. Had Chilaquiles, fresh and full of flavor. LOVE IT!
I love the food here. The service is great. It’s recently been remodeled. They don’t take reservations. It’s a very popular place. We highly recommend.
I ordered carne guisada tacos with guacamole. The guacamole was not pleasant and the taco even less. The guisada sauce reminded me of red sauce from a canned ravioli meal. The taste was not what I was expecting from a traditional tex-mex carne guisada taco. So I ordered a carne asada taco with fresh aguacate, so much better. The meat had tones of crispness as well as tenderness. Well flavored with limonsito on the side and fresh burnt sauce. The coffee was refreshing and the atmosphere and service very nice. The waitress was a doll and very attune to my needs when I complaint about the guisada tacos.
When you go there,go early and ask for Jorge. Best waiter service I have ever seen. Onz point with whatever you need. My favorites are the tortilla chicken soup, menu do or carnitas tacos on corn homemade tortillas. Never disappointed always leaving satisfied.
I had the Jalisco omelet. It was hot, fresh, and delicious. The beans were so yummy. Service was great. I guess alone and was given the perfect amount of attention. I'll definitely be returning
Super good food at reasonable prices. The service was great and food was served super fast. Prices were about $7.99 for a burrito 🌯 for 1 person, decent size and dinner plates about $13+. Everyone was nice and you seat yourself upon walking in. Parking can get full but there is also some street parking if needed.
There were three of us, and we were in the area, and we were looking for a place to get a nice local breakfast. I've been at the other Chapala's located on Austin Highway a few months back and decided to give this one a try, located at 1902 McCullough. I can tell you that we were not disappointed. We entered to a very nice interior decoration for the seating and tables. We were quickly greeted, and our drink orders were taken. After the drink orders were brought to us, our server took our breakfast orders. We all decided to get breakfast tacos on their homemade tortillas. Our orders range from chorizo and egg tacos, migas tacos, and bacon and egg tacos. In all, the food was very good. I'll be looking forward to a return visit to this restaurant when I'm in the area in the future I do hope that if you decide to visit your experiences as good as mine.
Portions are HUGE! Their Refried beans were amazing! Usually the Refried beans are something that are just there to help you fill up, but these beans were so flavorful, I just wanted to eat them bc they were that good!

It was absolutely delicious. I had the Birria plate, and also the Fajitas Norteñas. Both were outstanding. The tortillas (homemade) were delicious.

Visiting from Houston and enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Menudo was tasty without adding condiments and got services quickly. The restaurant was quiet and just peaceful for a good meal.
Excellent Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, everything is wonderful. I appreciate a great meal and want this Restaurant to continue to serve the public’ What you see is what we had!

Food is great. One of my favorites, Doesn't open on time though. If you are going to advertise an opening time then you need to do that. I have stopped by several times on my way to work and either have to wait or finally drive off. Your leaving easy money on the table.
Clean and kind of upscale…. The environment was clean and great to have descent convos … food was good and Mexican Food is not my first choice
Tacos are big! Two filled me up. Barbacoa was good, 4/5. Bacon and egg was really good. Prices are good, especially for the portions.
The food here is always fresh and delicious. The portions during the early shift are better than the second shift, where it's been disappointing. The staff is friendly and provides great service. Parking lot is usually filled up but definitely worth the wait to get in. One of the better spots to eat in the city.
Foods is pretty good . I am going to eat there again and take pictures
Huevos Rancheros with a pork chop was really delicious , although the pork chop wasn't up to my liking it was still good.
Found this place headed out of town looking for a little local taqueria. Had both bean and cheese tacos as well as beef bean and cheese tacos. Their ground beef is pretty greasy but a decent flavor. Seem like they're homemade tortillas and the flavor is awesome. Reasonable price under $7 for for breakfast tacos and they were ready quick.
If you love tacos this place is good for that...i started going 2 this place since it first opened...i didn't eat all the time....it smells like raw meat 2 me sometimes...maybe it's my sense of smell...but i can smell it....for the most part of you're not like me and don't mind the smells then this is good for you....
Good standard consistent Texas mexican food. clean courteous service. very quick drive-through service.
I always traveled to go to this restaurant for their tacos. Especially their beef fajitas. Unfortunately this visit resulted in the saltiest meat I've ever had. It sucks, because normally the marinade and the tenderness of the beef is amazing. Again, I live across town and travel to go to this particular restaurant for just for their beef fajitas. So disappointed. But all good things come to an end.
I’ll start with the good. Plenty of parking, clean restaurant and the service wasn’t too bad. If you’re looking for heat, go with the green chile on the table. It’s hella hot! The red chile isn’t as hot. BUT, the rest of the food just doesn't measure up, and this is coming from a guy who likes Jaliscos. I had the chilaquiles plate with refried beans and taters, but unfortunately the tortilla strips in the chilaquiles were stale. Since the strips are mixed in with all the other ingredients in chilaquiles (like it’s supposed to be), it pretty much ruined the meal. I tried to power my way through it and savor the rest of the flavors of the chilaquiles, but I just couldn’t do it. The refried beans were on the runny side and the tortillas weren’t fluffy at all. In fact, they were downright rubbery.
This is a Tex-Mex restaurant, not a Mexican authentic restaurant at all. They sell expired Mexican Cokes. I tried their chicharron and picadillo gorditas and they both were disappointing, weird spices they use, I couldn’t finish them, not because of the size (they’re huge) but bc of the flavor. The parrillada was good, enchiladas as well, their menudo kinda weird as well. The only very nice thing was the Birria tacos and the Agua de horchata. I went there June 1st, some of us asked for a Mexican glass bottle coke and the expiration date was May 8, 2025. Even before noticing this we all agreed the coke tasted as if it was being opened and refilled with coke from the fountain drink machine. We asked for another one showing the waitress the expiration date, and brought us a new one but with the same taste, no gas at all. If you are Mexican you can really know the difference between Mexican glass bottle coke and fake one. Very disappointed.
breakfast taco's been skimpy lately and egg overcooked. Potato and egg definitely ain't what it used to be. Used to be my favorite. Definitely don't recommend anymore.

Horrible service. Waitress brought our food never came back to check on us. No drinks. All the employees just sitting in the corner talking.
Been going here for 10 years last 3 times have been a horrible experience. Service sucked and on top of that I orders chicken fajita last 2 times and they barely put any chicken in there for $14 definitely feel like I am getting ripped off. Won’t be going back at all.
Ordered a taco to go, within minutes the paper bag looked like it was dipped in a bucket of grease, the taco was even wrapped in aluminum and it still seeped through it.
Barely any meat in my taco, this would be the second time other time would be My Carne Guisada than today my Asada Mexicana, You would think the Mexican cooks would know how to fill a taco 🌮, Drive Thru is a bad idea when you get home and see this weak taco. Even worse the Cafe being part of your neighborhood 😕
The best thing about this place was the bottled coke. The beans are out of a can. The rice was mushy. The ground beef in our tacos and enchiladas was still mooing. When we sat down they gave us stale tortilla chips and an unknown sauce that was I THINK was a sad excuse of a queso. Do not go here!
Tried the street tacos and they were DRIPPING in grease. Meat was low quality and very chewy. Rice was the best but also very greasy. I was burping up the taste of it the next day even tho i was only able to get thru 1.5 tacos.....do not reccomend
I ordered a fajita burrito, chips and salsa and a large iced tea. The meat in the burrito was gristle and the steak that was chewable tasted over chard. I ate a good portion of the burrito expecting it to get better. It did not. I drove back to the restaurant after going to the drive-through went through the drive-through again and they said they would not make me another burritoor Credit me needless to say I would not recommend this place.
No alcoholic drinks were available but there was a menu for it . This food was very different than other Jalisco's I've been to. I was disappointed and so was my guest.
If I could give this restaurant drive thru a zero I would...I just went through the drive thru cashier was Rude asked me to repeat my order 3 times thru the drive thru and then at the window asked again what i ordered... I get my order, and this is what it looked like... I called the restaurant to make a complaint. She kept repeating he was not there and hung up on me when I asked her name and for someone else she hung up again...This is the same experience I've had with her muplicate times with the same female and have report her before.... Just beans, no cheese or meat that's what I paid for to be added...
Menu shows one price and the register charges a other price for one service lady was awesome left her a tip and secondly the Lady at the register with blonde hair has a look like we aren't good enough to eat here or if I remind her of some one she hates my apologies for that but that doesn't give you the right to look at me all mean like you are better then me also there's these two guys just looking at you like they want to say something to you I wanted to say something but out of respect for the people here eating just paid and left not coming back here anymore had a bad experience I hope it gets better
BE AWARE! WARNING WARNING WARNING. On The Friday, January 23, 2026, the breakfast specials NO longer apply(Huevos rancheros with bacon & coffee $6.75/Chilaquiles $5.50) Make sure & read the sign when you walk in or you will end up with a BIG bill & probably end up washing dishes to pay for it🤣🤣🤣
Was super pleased at first. Good service, polite staff, low prices. But when I got started dealing with nausea. Then came fever. I had eaten their pork and now I had trichinosis. Not fun. Was down for a whole day. Buyer beware!
The food it is decent for being imitation Mexican. What cause me not to enjoy my meal, was a table that was on the other side was just being obnoxious, rude, saying profanities, having their child running all over the place. Now mind you, I am going deaf, and this restaurant is known to having music at full blast, I was still hearing and understanding everything they were saying. I asked the waiter to address it, I even said raise to music so it drowns they out, nothing was done. So we asked to get a to go plate so we can get out of their. They took about 10 mins when it was not even busy to get us the to go plates. When I went to pay, and to file my complaint, I was just told to cone back in the morning.
We are regulars four years at their other location on O'Connor Road and 35 and we just happened to be closer to this location on the day we visited. I just have to say the similarities stop at having the same menu. Quality and taste of the food is not even comparable to the other location and we ended up not even eating our food. Everything tasted like it was made from a can. I have never sent my food back and left in my entire life and felt horrible for doing so but since our entire order was the same quality, we didn't feel like ordering a different plate would fix anything. The waiter was understanding and apologized and we had no other staff related issues. It was just the taste of the food and depressing atmosphere with no music. It's disappointing, to say, we will not be returning to this location. Ended up returning to O'conner location last night and as always great food, great service (like family after 10 years return dining), and great atmosphere with music, oh and comfortable boths which i can't say for this location downtown. Oh and the food looked ok for the most part until you took a bite. One plate even tasted like buffalo sauce gone bad and like I said the rest of it just tasted like it was straight out of the can.
