Omg omg I love this place...there porridge and their Dominican breakfast is the best...I love that their look lunch is different daily....they always have ready to eat and you can order...one side note they dont take credit card one doesn't always have cash...but the food and service are great.

The food here is absolutely delicious. I call Alex's a gem in a haystack. Food is always fresh, they have the best homemade lemonade. Only pitfall is they're not a dine in establishment, and i always start eating in my car. Their food is that good.

The best spanish food you'll ever get your hands on. The only downfall is that sometimes the line is really long BUT its worth the wait. I'd stand there for an hour for the food. This place has great service for catering. They also do food to sell, not just catering food. Being there in person, showed that they had a lot of orders being delivered. People go there to place there orders to go. There is not a lot of seating there being that it's a small place but their food is so good that it's always busy. Never a quiet down time for them. A+++

Favorite Dominican restaurant. The food is always tasty and well packed. I wish they would send my food faster, though. Usually, my food arrives 2-3 hours later. I suggest you order your food earlier so you will not die waiting for it. I believe that small issue must be addressed. Other than that, customer service over the phone is excellent.

I am giving 5 stars because the food was delicious although for the price $15.95 for a 1 meat plate the amount that is given is not worth it. It comes in a 3 section divided plate. I ordered the Pernil with white rice and red beans. The amount of Pernil was disappointing and the beans that came in a small container were mostly caldo (sauce) with very few beans, however, they were delicious. I wish there was more. There was lots of white rice which was very tasty and everything together was really very good and seasoned quite well. I also ordered cheese empanadas that were also very good. Not greasy and very crispy. I don’t know if I’d order again because the price with delivery, fees and tip is not worth it for the small amount given. Maybe if I’m in the neighborhood and drop in because the food is well made.

Words can not express how delicious EVERYTHING is at this luncheonette. I have been customer there for over 20 years, when I opened my first Event Planning business, Alex worked with us and provided catering to all events big or small all across NYC. As I grew, I always made sure to recommend their services as they will not disappoint you, their food is always on point. Big things come in small packages and this applies to Alex's Luncheonette. It's a small place with big, delicious plates. I recently stopped in and it was heart warming that the servers remembered my name, and the service remained TOP CLASS!

This isnt the sort of place you sit and eat at but boy is the food delicious. It was my first time and Alex's didnt disappoint. I ordered a sancocho, 2 half chicken combo meals (the price totals what you would pay for a whole chicken family meal somewhere else) and a natural orange juice.... everything was super tasty. Im already dying to go back and try some of their chuletas (pork chops) and pernil lol 😆. The ladies working the counter were super helpful as well. If you're from the Caribbean, then you know the tastes and spices you are looking for in each island. This is an authentic dominican spot and my puerto rican belly was happy.

Food taste amazing and they are super professional and organized. The place is super busy but I noticed that employees know their responsibilities and make the experience a positive one. They provided catering service for the grand opening of my insurance office; they were on time and the price was reasonable. Alex was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, he recommended the correct amount for each type of food taking in consideration the amount of people that I was going to the event. I already recommend them to my friends small Christmas party at home and I recommend them to you : )

Wow! I’ve lived in the neighborhood for 1.5 years and have not been able to stop by yet because I rarely have cash. When I walked in today, I found out they accept credit cards anyways. And this was the most kind, caring, welcoming crew I could’ve asked for. They let me practice my Spanish with them, and were so kind to me. I came home and the food was literally so good. I felt like I was in an Abuela‘s house in the DR. I can’t wait to go back and this is dangerous for me to live this close by!

I’ve eaten takeout from here for over 10 years - this is the best Dominican spot in the area, by a mile. It’s always packed in here, especially during the lunch hours. People from all over Brooklyn come to eat at Alex’s. My favorite dish would have to be the carne encebollada. The rotisserie chicken is also always cooked to perfection. and their habichuelas are the best ones you’ll ever have. The best method is to order directly so you can get your food fast; they’re not known for their pick-up orders because it gets so busy in there and there’s limited counter room. It is also cash only, which is not always convenient. I guarantee you I’ll be eating from here for another 10 years, even if I move. Go see for yourself what all the hype is about.

I’ve noticed that some clients claim it’s cash only and that’s not true, payments can be made with all major credit cards and Zelle. If you haven’t had one of there hardy dishes, you are missing out a great lunch. Tryout the breakfast dishes combinations. I came to NYC around a month ago and I was looking for a place like this one, where you can buy affordable, delicious and reasonably healthy food (having eaten too many burgers and sandwiches this month). The portion sizes are quite big, I barely managed to eat all of the meat and half of the rice. The price is similar to what you'd pay to buy a meal at McDonalds, so going to this place instead is a no-brainer. The corn bread was amazing! That being said, I am giving the atmosphere just 1 star because I had the worst time waiting inside. It was also so loud that I could barely hear the person who served me both times I was there. The staff was patient and friendly enough though. The other customers, not so much. In my country, when a place is crowded, you usually wait near the door until the line starts moving, which is what I did. Someone must have thought that I was trying to cut the line and literally whistled at me and pointed to a spot behind him like I was a dog.

This restaurant places preferences on non-Black people. They allowed hispanics to skip others who do not appear as Latinx. I went today to get food. Their lining system is very unproductive and they do not keep mind of the order. They allowed someone who was Latinx to skip me and when I addressed it to the client, it became an argument, rather than them acknowledging the concern and addressing the issue, they defended the client who skipped me. I speak Spanish, which they ignored of me because I am Black. Even after the argument, we both got our foods and they said in spanish that they were trying to push me out. This place is racist and their food isn’t even that good. I will be working with community members to address the anti-Blackness of this restaurant. Dominicans are racist and it’s sad that a place that has many Black Dominicans, they do not identify as such and treat Black presenting people differently. Please do not go here. They’re racist!

I ordered from this place on Saturday and had food poisoning. It was the only thing I ate on Saturday and ended up throwing up for hours and having stomach issues. And still currently recovering from all of that. Ya’ll should be ashamed! The dishes I ordered was the espaguetis and pastelon.
