Got to go on opening day! Beautiful restaurant, great food, great service, very kind and welcoming owner. 🕊️🕊️🕊️ Perfect for date night or with friends! Was so cute & fun seeing some happy birthday celebrations there, too! Loved my salad & mocktail! Can’t wait to come back for an actual cocktail after baby is here 😇✨🕊️
I really enjoyed Doves Restaurant. The food, service, and ambiance were great. I had the lamb, and it was cooked to perfection. Our server, Ms. Unique, and the bar manager, Ms. Daisa, were so polite and attentive. As it relates to the ambiance, the music was great; it was not too loud, and there were many places in the restaurant to take amazing photos. I will say that Doves is not as economical as I would prefer to frequent the restaurant regularly. However, if it is a special occasion, it is definitely worth the value. If asked, I would suggest that the owners do special nights during the week with half prices to entice customers to frequent the business regularly (e.g., half off lamb Wednesdays, etc.). Parking may be a challenge on the weekends, but the management mentioned it's a task high on their priority list. Overall, I strongly recommend Doves Restaurant.
*5/5 Stars* "We had the pleasure of dining at Dove Restaurant and it was truly an exceptional experience! The food was absolutely divine, with each dish expertly crafted and presented. The service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and pampered. The ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the tone for a wonderful evening. Each bite was a flavor sensation, with fresh ingredients and creative combinations that left us wanting more. What truly sets Dove Restaurant apart, however, is the exceptional service. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and made excellent recommendations. The staff's passion for providing an outstanding dining experience shines through in every detail. If you're looking for a truly exceptional dining experience, look no further than Dove Restaurant. We can't wait to return and indulge in their culinary delights again!"

We had cocktails at Doves! Eldridge let us in and he was so sweet! He showed us around the bar. Taylor O at the bar made us the BEST cocktails. These were genuinely the best expresso martinis we’ve had it town. Definitely a must see in Houston. We did not try the food but have heard it good.
Absolutely loved this place. I have never been anywhere to eat that was this nice. I will definitely be dressing a lot nicer next time I show up. Strict dress code which I also loved. Thank you to the door man for being so polite to me while explaining the dress code. Big shout out to all of our servers that took care of us. I was wanting to get their names to put in a good word for them but the group of ladies I was with was rushing me to get the truck so I ran out ahead of them and wasn’t able to get the names. So please give them a bonus or something in regards to the service they provided to us. Food was 10/10. Never had ox tail before and I completely cleaned my plate. Highly recommend.
I went Saturday for a friend's birthday. We loved, the food, atmosphere and service. I'm definitely going back. I'm not easily impressed, but will go again. We had a few appetizers and entrees: oxtail yakimein, lamb chops, pear salad, seabass, salmon, pork chops, duck potatoes, crab/lobster mac, fried rice with crab/lobster and bread pudding. All the food was on point. The only complaint was the rice could have had more flavor. Which was really more of a preference. The portions were reasonable. The drinks were good too. I had the Christian Dior, several others had the full house. Stay away from the dove drink if you don't like creamy drinks.
I would give 5 more stars if I could! Everything about this restaurant is absolute perfection! Every detail, from the decor, to the plating, to the food, and the wait staff is outstanding! Every little detail is perfected and thought through thoroughly. I can’t recommend Doves enough! Get here soon!
Doves 🕊️— A Brunch to Remember! Happy Chef 👩🏽🍳 = Continuous Support, and yesterday was proof of that! The ambiance matched the food quality, and my heart (and stomach) are still full! THE FOOD.. Bow your heads, say your grace… because we’re about to go IN! 😂🙏🏽 🔥 Crab Cakes Benedict—Layered & paired to perfection! A crispy fried green tomato base (coated in a cornmeal batter), topped with a crab cake, then finished with a poached egg (or in my case, a soft scramble). And let’s not forget the creamy crawfish sauce drizzled over the top… LAWWD!! 👏🏽👏🏽 🔥 Deep Fried French Toast—Tempura battered and giving fried peach cobbler at the carnival vibes! Then topped with preserved peaches that took it to another level. Yes, I needed to meet the chef after this one! 🔥 STEAK & EGGS—Let’s talk about this steak, baby! Who is in the back loving on—I mean, seasoning—this steak?! Because GOD BLESSED THOSE HANDS! Medium well, cooked just as requested, tender and easy to chew. 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Doves, y’all did that! To the owner, chef, and staff—thank you for a phenomenal experience! And a HUGE shoutout to the Calvin family for inviting me to blog, do the most, and try half of the menu on their behalf. 😂 I’ll definitely be back!! #DovesBrunchVibes #FoodieApproved #SteakAndEggsBlessed #MENtorshipNeeded #MentorHubby #CulinaryExcellence #SupportIsLove
We were the first customer to attend brunch! Sabina was our waitress. She was great and attentive. I ordered the catfish snd grits. It was delicious and very flavorful! It was a great experience from start to finish. Great customer service and food overall! I can't wait to come back for dinner!
Definitely surprised at how great everything was. Lately in Houston the new restaurants flop early on. Ambience was there, it reminds me of KISS resting, but Doves’ food is way better. Valet is $15 or $30 Not a really big restaurant, which is a good because it wasn’t too loud. The music was a perfect level where you could vibe out or if you were having a conversation, you weren’t screaming. Food was really really good. I tried everyone’s plates lol The wings, the pagoda shrimp, the orange chicken, the salmon & noodles (get the noodles heated) because you can choose cold too. And I had mac n cheese and the chicken baos. Food was wonderful, loved it. Only complaint, service a tad bit slow, just a tad. And some portions I expected to be larger. Like my mac n cheese or the orange chicken. Other than that I enjoyed everything. Customer service over the top! Everyone was great. No attitudes, our server Unique was very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. Oh yeah the drinks were great too. I will definitely go back.
I'd like to think I'm a food connisouer, and THIS, was an excellent dining experience! From the hostess to the waitress Lashawn, to the valet, everything was seamless and professional. I love the Japanese/Southern concept, genius! Both the orange chicken and oxtail yakamein were delicious and drinks were on point. Grateful for the hospitality and experience, and look forward to dining again in the future! Thank you!
Elevated! 10!10!10! Went here for a bday celebration and was impressed from start to finish. From the moment we walked in the energy, the staff, the atmosphere was amazing. The drinks, fantastic and the food just wow. I can't even describe how amazing the food was. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Just get to Doves and experience it for yourself.
The staff at Doves was incredibly accommodating. Despite having a party of twelve, they got us seated promptly. Our waitress, Raven, was exceptionally friendly and delivered top-notch service. The food and drinks were both delicious, and the restaurant itself is absolutely stunning. I also want to add the thoughtful gesture from the general manager, who offered us a complimentary drink in light of a bad experience we had at an unrelated restaurant. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I highly recommend visiting if you're looking for great food and outstanding service.
This was the first time visiting from seeing videos on TikTok. The restaurant was beautiful from the seats to the decor. De’vate was our server and recommended a great choice for shareables. My entree was pretty good, but next time I would try something differently. I tried a mocktail and it was pretty good even without alcohol. Will be visiting again.
I absolutely love Doves! The food is amazing! The vibe is always on point and the DJ. We went on a brunch date and the Shrimp & Grits were awesome. I liked all the other dishes offered as well. LaShaun was an amazing server. She was very attentive, polite, and energetic! If you haven't been, it's a vibe I would recommend.
I had the pleasure of hosting a dinner party here on October 5. The elegant and upscale decor and entertainment was the first thing that wowed me and my guest. We were greeted at the door with smiles and friendly faces. As we waited for our table to be ready (which was a short wait) we sat at the bar and the bar staff were also friendly and the cocktails were strong but delicious 😊. Fred, the manager I believe, was very accommodating and patient. I had more guest than originally planned and he made it work to where all of my guests were comfortably seated. He kept checking in on our table to make sure we were okay. Kudos to him because he made the impossible, possible 🤗. Winston our server was AMAZING. He was all smiles and his service was on point. There were some items that were unavailable, but it was very easy to choose other delicious items. The Oxtail Yaka Mein and the Bao Down Sliders were the big talk at my table. I look forward to visiting again for Brunch. Overall: Check out Doves because it was a great experience. The menu items have an Asian/Soul Food twist which is definitely worth trying.
We had an INCREDIBLE time here for my friend's birthday party! Best time I've had since I've been in Houston. Our server, Unique was the best. I was so attentive to our party, treated the birthday queen and her guest like royalty. Raven was also amazing. Even the hostesses and doorman was great. I had the oxtail yakamein. It was delicious. 5 stars everything!
Raven was a phenomenal planner and helped to makes birthday dinner a SMASH. it can be challenging booking things when you’re from out of town and she made the process seamless even when we had last minute adjustments. So grateful. CC was an incredible waitress. Extremely attentive and kind. Would recommend this venue and return!
Perfect Birthday Dinner at Doves - 10/10! I celebrated my birthday at Doves, and the experience was beyond perfect. The food was phenomenal, and the service made the night truly special. Our server, Deyanna, was incredibly prompt, professional, and attentive. We had the 32oz tomahawk steak, which came with an exciting pre-show presentation, paired with mac n’ cheese and Brussels sprouts—everything was cooked to perfection. The pagoda shrimp appetizer was fantastic, and the French 75 and red wine made the meal even better. For my birthday, I brought my own cake, and the staff went above and beyond by doing a fun birthday dance celebration and even cutting the cake for us. Doves made my birthday so memorable, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience!
When you have to find something to critique and the only thing you come up with is “they should serve bread or something to snack on” is all you got…just know it’s worth the money spent. Parking: minimal street parking or paid valet option. I opted to spin the block a few times and get the free parking 😅 Service: Lashon was amazing, very attentive and super friendly! Actually, from the moment of stepping in everyone was welcoming and friendly but the table service was phenomenal. Food: I ordered the orange chicken and when I tell you the flavors paired well on that dish it was like a melody in my mouth. The chicken and rice complimented each other well! Vibes: True R&B music!!! The dj was in his bag with the r&b and from different era. Plenty of photo ops as well. All and all, I’ll be back!
From the time we stepped to the door it was a fantastic experience. The ambiance, decor, music & staff. We were seated upstairs which give a nice overview of the space. Our drinks, appetizer & entree were delicious. We had the pagoda shrimp & the teriyaki lamb chops. I had the Christa Dior cocktail. I’m not sure of the name of my cousins drink but it had pineapple and grand marnier in it. I was there celebrating my birthday and I could not have asked for a better time. The staff came out with a sign , sparklers & a cute cupcake. Overall 10/10. Even the unisex bathrooms were elegant. Next time I am in Houston I will definitely stop in. On the way out we met one of the owners who was a very pleasant young Black man. The doorman Tony is a gem. A real asset to the establishment.
My first time at the restaurant and let me tell you. It did not disappoint. From the warm greeting at the door, to the comfortable seating to our amazing waiter Mikaela…. she was so kind, so attentive and gave excellent suggestions from the menu. Best Mothers day dinner. We had a variety of food. Everything 10/10 The Red snapper The 16 oz Ribeye Brussel sprouts Mac and chesse Doves fried rice with crab. Treat yourself dont cheat yourself!!!!
We only came to check out the service, food and atmosphere for an incoming 50th celebration. Kenzie was amazing server. She greeted with great energy and a smile. She was very attentive to our table. My opinion the upstairs seating is the best seating in the restaurant. Since we had 4 others stops to check out we only had appetizers and cocktails. They were 10/10 like Kenzie service, the drinks, music and the atmosphere. Let’s see is the others can top this one.
I had such an amazing time at Doves. 1st impression was everything. From the aesthetic and welcoming ambiance, to our sweet, attentive, charismatic Nina. She made sure we were comfortable and our food was not cold! Very delicious, great portions. I will most definitely come back for another bday celebration or girls night out!
I went for my birthday last week and had an amazing time. We sat at the bar until our table was ready. The bartenders that we interacted were so nice and got our drinks out in a timely. The food and drinks were phenomenal. You have to try the shrimp and gumbo. We ordered the tomahawk steak and was cooked to everyone’s liking ( huge deal for my steak loving friends). If you can try to get the waitress named Unique you’re in for a treat. She was so sweet and took the time to help explained everything for my dinner party. The dancer was so graceful, sweet she stopped to take a picture with me. So many places in the establishment to take a great pictures. My dinner party guest are still talking about the place definitely going back asap.
We recently celebrated my wife's birthday at Doves, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we started making reservations, the host, Raven, went above and beyond to accommodate our party. Her warm hospitality truly set the tone for the evening. Our servers, Orlando and JV, were attentive and friendly, ensuring that our needs were met throughout the night. The food was delicious, and they offered great recommendations. The DJ created an excellent atmosphere, playing a mix of music that kept the vibe lively and enjoyable. The entire place was very clean, which added to our comfort. Definitely recommend
Beautiful restaurant! The food is AMAZING!!! Some of the best food that I have had in Houston. Definitely a 10/10 and I highly recommend!!! The staff was personable and friendly. My only issue is the MUSIC. It was TOO LOUD! My husband and I were literally screaming at each other to have a conversation. That was disappointing. Please, please lower the music and you will achieve perfection. Patrons shouldn’t have to loose their voice screaming just to communicate. It doesn’t have to be that loud for guests to enjoy it. Yes, I will be back because those lamb chops and greens were delicious!!! Bomb!!!!
My husband and I had an amazing date night at Dove Restaurant in Houston! The lamb chops and 16 oz ribeye were absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and bursting with flavor. Our server was fantastic, attentive, and made the experience even better. Sam stopped by our table to check on us, which was a nice personal touch. The valet service was impressively quick, making our evening hassle-free. The only drawback was how loud the music was—it made it a bit challenging to have a conversation and when we informed Sam, he immediately solved the issue. Other than that, we had a great experience and would still highly recommend Dove for a special night out!
Divine. Brunch was incredible and some of the best French toast we have ever tasted (which says a lot) as self-proclaimed foodies :)) The fish and grits arrived and honestly I thought it would be average - thinking how over the top can “fish and grits be?” Well it was over AND beyond those thoughts. The atmosphere is regal with chic decor, plush seating surrounded by sophistication. Highly recommended for the elite.
All five stars were given and certainly earned in ALL services. Dove’s restaurant offers a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The choice of colors and fabrics are inviting, yes, the aesthetics and ambiance matter! ♡ Oh and the food! As soon as I opened my menu, it was nearly impossible to choose just one entree—so I ordered two and WOW, everything was prepared to perfection! Now, I’ve been to more luxury restaurants than one can count .. but I simply must give Doves their flowers. Well done! I will certainly be returning and recommending you all to others.
I previously visited Dove Restaurant for a birthday celebration dinner and, to be honest, it was average, and I wasn't planning to return. However, after attending church with my daughter on 09/14/2025, we stopped by for brunch, and I must say I'll definitely be back. Sam Williamson, one of the owners, was exceptional. Upon arrival, there were no available tables, so the host offered us seating on the patio, which was quaint and acceptable. Sam introduced himself, offered us a glass of champagne, and then proceeded to clean the table. I was impressed by his hands-on approach, observing him take orders, serve drinks, wipe tables, and engage with patrons. It's rare to see such dedication. I eagerly anticipate my next visit, as it's heartwarming to see a black-owned business thriving with professionalism and a relaxed atmosphere.
We celebrated two birthdays at Doves—39 and 79, forty years apart—and our entire group blended together for such a memorable night! The food was absolutely delicious, the service was top-tier, drinks were amazing and the ambiance was beautiful from the moment we walked in. Our family left with full hearts, great photos, and so many memories. Doves is a fun, welcoming place for all to enjoy a wonderful time. Highly recommend!
Doves is an absolute gem and a must-visit for anyone looking for comfort food done right! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm, friendly service that makes you feel instantly welcomed. The staff is attentive, welcoming, and truly goes the extra mile to ensure your dining experience is exceptional. The star of the menu for me has to be their fish and grits…simply amazing. The fish is perfectly seasoned and cooked to flaky perfection, while the grits are creamy, rich, and full of flavor. Together, they create a dish that’s both comforting and unforgettable. It’s one of those plates you savor slowly because you never want it to end. With fantastic food, standout service, and a cozy, inviting atmosphere, Doves delivers a dining experience you’ll want to repeat again and again. Highly recommended!
This place is a gem. We enjoyed this place so much. A lot of spots in Houston have a nice atmosphere, but miss with the food and service. But this spot hit all of the marks. They made accommodations for my dairy allergy. The manager and our server Jason were great! And we came on Valentine’s Day so it was busy. But they handled it well. The lamb chops and salmon were delicious! We also ordered the Riding dirty and Lychee Mocktail, very good as well. Oh and they also offer plant based options, which is so nice. Highly recommend.
This was our first time visiting this awesome establishment!!!! Our waitress, LaTonia was outstanding, thank you for your great service and attentiveness. 🫶🏾
I had a wonderful experience here at Doves the food was exceptional. Tomahawk steak was served just right. MIKEALA was an awesome server. She is the best! For everyone 1st experience at Doves, please request Mikeala.
The atmosphere was great but the food is not worth the price they have it . The service was great but about time he brought out our food it was cold. The collards soup was not good at all . Calamari was good but they only give you more grass than anything.
I had AMAZING shrimp and grits with lobster and sausage. Huge portion, I couldn't finish it. My friend had the oxtail with grits and almost licked the bowl. Our mimosas were also delicious. 10/10 experience! This place is Black owned, high scale, great location on main st, valet. Just a wonderful experience. I'll definitely be back for weekend brunch. The bartender told me they do bottomless mimosas for 17.99 during Saturday brunch. RUN, don't walk. Oh I forgot they play 90s/00s R&B the whole time too!
Taylor was our server; excellent service. Love the vibe and ambiance especially. And my kind of menu items. Crowned Shrimp was amazing!
My waitress Ken was amazing! She has a great personality and was so helpful with what to order. She’s bubbly and welcoming. I highly recommend this restaurant. To the food I ordered lobster shrimp and grits and it was delicious. I came for my birthday and they made me feel so special.
The atmosphere is high end chic. The catfish and grits were everything! It felt like I had a whole catfish on my plate because it was huge! Our server Unique to excellent care of us. We had a time!
Great show with dancer as you eat or socialize. Nina was definitely attentive and provided exceptional service and recommendations for food. First time here and would definitely return. The rib eye steak was succulent and savory as ate every piece. The Mac a. Cheese wa chey and good. Experience and food a 10/10.
Highly suggest. We had the Oppalusas pasta and orange chicken. So good! The chicken was melt in your mouth. The atmosphere was fun and relaxed.
Dwayne provided excellent service from start to finish. He was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect without ever being overbearing. You can tell he genuinely cares about the guest experience. Definitely one of the best servers I’ve had, thank you, Dwayne!
Sunday Brunch was an absolute 10/10 experience. I ordered the Shrimp-Lobster & Grits, and it did not disappoint. The presentation was nicely plated, and the grits had the perfect creamyvtexture not runny or watered down. The shrimp and lobster were tender and flavorful, and the dish had a wonderful savory balance without being overpowering. The chipotle cream sauce, smoked andouille sausage, and parmesan brought everything together perfectly. I also ordered an à la carte side of the fried catfish, actual catfish, not swai. Prepared well done and lightly seasoned to perfection. The service was just as impressive. Our server, Unique was attentive and welcoming, which made the meal even more enjoyable and appreciated. I’ll definitely be coming back for brunch here again
Atmosphere was incredible, DJ on the second floor had the customers singing but it wasn't so loud that it was unbearable. The design aesthetic that made great use of deep green tones was wondrous. The food was excellent and the drinks even better! Fully recommend!
First time and decor was on point. Enjoyed the dark rich color schemes and contemporary touches to an elegant night. Dajah, Adrian, and Unique made great rapport and offered great recommendations as a first timer. I will definitely be back. Riding Dirty Derty Christa Dior Smoked Turkey Collard Greens Salmon Peach Cobbler All great choices!!
We had an amazing time at Dove. Our waitress named Unique provided stellar service! The food was delicious everything was sooo good. The staff was friendly and professional. I really enjoyed myself. The only thing I wasn’t to please about was the parking but I can’t wait to try their brunch. Thank you again the birthday had a good time.
My first time there with one of my best friends yesterday for her birthday! The service outstanding and the food delectable. So accommodating with all your needs. Met the owner, Samuel, definitely can see why he's the owner!! Going back for the lamb chops....my girlfriend was literally chewing on her bones and she's Miss Prim and Proper!! Thx TikTok for the post!!
Omg! My friends and I had dinner after a play at the Ensemble. The atmosphere was wonderful. We started off with appetizers and drinks that were great. My drink came to the table on fire with a playing card connected. The manager stopped by the table to speak and to make sure we were happy with the service. We had the best waiter. He was very knowledgeable about the items on the menu. We also had a birthday in our group. They celebrated with a sign and sparkles. The only disappointment was that they had run out of deserts. Will return!
I came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday and had such a great experience! The waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the management kept stopping by our table to make sure everything was perfect, which I thought was really impressive. I didn’t care for one of my dishes, and they replaced it right away with something I loved—no hassle at all. 10/10 for both service and atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back… next time for a date night with my guy! 💕✨
My first visit at Doves restaurant was incredibly nice. Our server Javion was very attentive and very pleasant and was a delight the entire evening. The food was very good and the drinks was a nice balance a well. The manager Adrian was amazing and the restaurant surprised me with the cutest shoutout. The parking was hassle free and it was a memorable first visit and I’d recommend and visit again.
We had a beautiful time celebrating my sister’s birthday for brunch at Dove’s. We were greeted graciously by Olivia the event coordinator. She was very polite and assisted us on where to take the pictures throughout the restaurant. Jason was our wait staff and he was very professional, friendly and gave amazing suggestions for drinks and the menu. We will DEFINITELY be back! Last but not least the decor was absolutely gorgeous!
I took my husband to Doves for his birthday dinner and it was an incredible experience! The drinks were delicious and the food was phenomenal! We ordered the Bao Down beef sliders for our appetizer and it was the perfect blend of sweet and savory. For my entree, I ordered the Oxtail Yakamein and it was by far the best oxtail I’ve ever had, it was very tender and the broth was so flavorful. My husband had the lamb chops and they were also amazing. The service was top notch, it was very quick and all the staff were friendly. We’re definitely coming back soon!
I went to Dove’s restaurant with my date for dinner, and it was above and beyond what we expected. The food was absolutely delectable, The service was bar none. It was a beautiful, elegant, sophisticated dining experience. It was very upscale, and inviting. I love the valet parking versus me having to park far away and walking. The valet makes me feel more comfortable, and safe and adds to the upscale of doves restaurant. I can’t say enough about this place, I will be coming back to celebrate my birthday party here with my girlfriends, this is definitely the place to be at.
Had a great experience at Doves Restaurant, thanks to our server! Dewayne was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Orders were accurate, drinks stayed full, and the service never felt rushed. He had a great attitude and really added to the overall vibe of the restaurant. Excellent service like this makes me want to come back so I highly recommend asking for him if you’re dining here!
I had a 2pm reservation on Sunday for 8 guests. This is all an appetite for something to go wrong. We arrive 15 minutes early and checked in. The hosts were kind and super professional. We sat at the bar and they gave us a heads up the tables were almost ready and sat us down on time. The server McKensy was really nice, energetic, and provided exceptional service. The drinks were delicious, the food was amazing, and overall the music and vibe was just perfect! I wish the brunch menu was a little more thought out. It feels a bit basic compared to the regular menu. The oxtail hash and fish n grits were top tier!
This restaurant was all around amazing! The atmosphere, music and drinks were on point. The servers were kind and attentive. Most of all, the food was the best I’ve had in a long time, every thing we tried. My favorite was the orange chicken dish. I’m already looking forward to our next visit!
Celebrated my birthday here w/family and friends. We had a great time! I was even surprised w/ birthday bottle service! Everyone enjoyed the food. My meal fell a little flat. I had the oxtails and they were slightly burned even the broth tasted scorched. All the other food from the appetizers to dessert were really good! Our server, Winston, I think is his name was very attentive. His recommendations for your specialty drinks were on point! Atmosphere A+. Overall a great time. I will be back and try brunch.
The place was really nice. I did not care much for where we were seated for a table of 7. I did not like that the entrees came out one by one instead of all at one time so that the table could eat together. HOWEVER I AM WILLING TO GIVE IT A SECOND TRY. The ambience is nice, the waitress was an awesome and the other all staff was really welcoming. Don’t let me forget the food was a 10/10. I did not order the oxtails however, someone in my party did and they were so tender and out of this world. I have to go back to try.
Our server was very sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. I was with a large party so it did take a moment for us to get seated I originally ordered the oxtail yakamein but they were out of it so I ordered a pasta dish instead. Others at the table had Chilean sea bass, crab fried rice, lamb chops, and calamari. I everything I tasted was great. I paired my meal with a glass of wine.
Overall, my experience at Dove was truly delightful; the ambiance of the place is simply breathtaking. However, I did encounter a minor issue with the upstairs area. The space felt cramped, making it challenging for the waitstaff to navigate while taking orders, which resulted in a somewhat uncomfortable atmosphere. Our waitress, though eager to please, was understandably flustered as she navigated through the bustling crowd, especially with more experienced waitstaff continually squeezing past her. As for the drinks, although I'm not typically a big drinker, the cocktail I opted for—known as Riding Dirty—was absolutely fantastic. The flavors were vibrant, although I would suggest they use more dry ice for that dramatic effect, as the small pellet they used didn't quite create the visual spectacle I was hoping for. Now, let’s talk about the food. The gumbo dumpling was, without a doubt, the star of the show—an exquisite blend of flavors and textures that left me utterly impressed. So much so, that I ordered an extra to savor later at home. All things considered, I would rate this restaurant an 8 out of 10. For my next visit, I think I'll choose to sit downstairs for a more comfortable experience.
it’s such a nice restaurant. i mean the colors and the decor is beautiful. our waitress was super sweet and so nice, but i think she may have been a bit overwhelmed just because it took a while for everything to come out and things were brought out separately. not a whole lot of parking but there is valet. you can find free parking if you don’t mind walking a bit. valet was hogging the metered parking area though. the restroom situation is pretty weird. there’s one restroom for men and women but 4 stalls in the restroom so there were men in the restroom with us. the food was great. i had the fish and grits with the peach cobbler french toast. the fish was fried just a tad bit too hard but it was good. overall i would go back. the music was very millennial friendly and i loved that! they played a few older songs but i think it’s suitable for any age range. the site says dress code enforced but maybe it depends on how you look because there was def a woman there who had a see through dress on with her whole butt and thong showing.
First and foremost, the staff at Doves were nothing short of amazing. We were fortunate to have Ms. Ka'Niya as our waitress during our visit, and she truly was the highlight of our night. Her attentiveness, friendly demeanor, and professionalism made us feel welcomed. It’s rare to find service that enhances the entire dining experience, but Ms. Ka'Niya certainly delivered on that front. We started our meal with the Wilson Wings appetizer which flavorful. The wings were perfectly seasoned and cooked just right, and we highly recommend them to anyone visiting the restaurant. Following that, we ordered our entrees: I chose the Forbidden Lamb Chops, and my wife ordered for the Whole Fried Snapper. Unfortunately, the mac and cheese was the biggest disappointment for us—it lacked the rich, creamy texture and bold flavor we were expecting. The rice served alongside was just okay, nothing to complain about but nothing particularly brag about either. On a more positive note, the collard greens were well-seasoned and stood out as the only side that truly complemented our entrees. We loved our drinks, especially the Gold Coast ( Hennessy) Another issue that caught us off guard was the unisex restroom setup. While we understand that restaurants may have unique restroom setups, the four closed-door toilets shared by all guests regardless of gender was unexpected and felt a bit uncomfortable.
The drinks were a bit sweet and the salmon i got was a little overcooked for me but the flavor was on point. The vibes from the dj was just right and the establishment was pretty
I ordered the sweet potato waffle eggs and turkey bacon. The waffle was great. The eggs were okay just needed salt and pepper. The turkey bacon was okay as well. The atmosphere is great, love the music and the vibes the place brings. The mimosas were hitting as well. Will definitely come back ❤️
The greeters (women) were not welcoming!my server was nice and the overall service was decent. I LOVE that there is no hookah in sight! I wouldn’t be back due to the limited menu, there was only two things I could see myself eating, even though I’m from Louisiana and the overall vibe of the restaurant. I can’t say this give fine dining vibes, it gives me more of a graces on Kirby feel- based on music selection, server professional ability, and menu. In my opinion It is not a date night spot- more of a place you go for a semi-upscale weekend with friends. My only complaint is the restroom is co-ed :/ I am NOT comfortable sharing a sink area with the opposite sex. I think separate restrooms should be available at a place as pricey as this.
The food is delicious and flavorful. We had the lamb chops, oxtail Yakamein, greens, potatoes, and calamari. The dancer was ok for entertainment. They have a DJ to keep the atmosphere going. Beware of the unisex restrooms. The only complaint we have is that our waiter added an additional tip to our bill. We paid with a credit card , but left a cash tip. He unfortunately fraudulently added an additional $20 to our credit card as a tip to himself. We have tried to contact the restaurant through their website but we keep getting an error. Hopefully we will hear back from someone, because we can press charges against the waiter, and if he did it to us he could be doing it to others. You can tell they are trying with the service, but the wait times for drinks and even something simple like straws is a bit longer than it should be for a fine dining restaurant. Once the staff gets a little more organized ( and honest with tips and charging diner’s cards) this place will make it successfully for a long time, because the chef is doing his thing in the kitchen.
A friend of mine purchased tickets for the Pleasure P Experience, which included a two-course tableside meal. Originally, there were two showtimes, but ours was unexpectedly moved earlier. No problem. Upon arrival just before 8:30 PM, there was noticeable confusion among staff regarding our seating. We were initially directed to the bar, which was unacceptable given that we paid for a table dining experience—not bar seating. The tables weren’t even full at that time, so late arrivals should have been seated at the bar instead. We requested a manager, and thankfully, our concerns were addressed. To be clear, every interaction with staff was pleasant. Our server, Kimmy, was especially great. A few hiccups occurred: I ordered pasta however, chicken wings, greens, mac and cheese was brought instead. I ate it, and Kimmy apologized sincerely—no big deal. However, the final bill was disappointing. We were charged a 20% gratuity (Plus taxes and service charges) on the entire pre-paid ticket and drinks. This felt excessive and predatory. Gratuity (taxes and service fees) should only apply to additional purchases like drinks, not the pre-paid portion. I’ve never seen a business do this. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning. Businesses that operate out of desperation often don’t last
I recently dined at a restaurant where our waiter, Orlando, was friendly but struggled with service. I found myself having to repeat my requests multiple times, particularly for steak sauce, which I asked for at least five times. My friend also faced a challenge when she requested sour cream, having to ask ten times before it was finally brought out. The steak night special offered a steak, potato, and salad for $35, and while the steak was quite good, the potato was disappointing—dry and reminiscent of Popeyes biscuits. It’s worth noting that many additions came with extra charges; bacon, butter, and cheese all incurred additional fees, leaving the potato with just chives. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed and creates a lovely atmosphere. However, I did notice some maintenance issues, like a toilet fixture that was falling apart in the restroom. It highlights a common oversight where establishments focus on decor but neglect essential facilities. One major drawback was the music; it was much too loud, making it difficult to enjoy conversation without shouting across the table. A slight reduction in volume would greatly improve the experience. Finally, I noticed that gratuity was automatically added to the bill, along with several upcharges, which made the experience feel a bit overwhelming. The $4 lemon drops I ordered ended up giving me a headache, which was unfortunate. Overall, while there were some positives, there are definitely areas for improvement.
The waitress was horrible. Imagine scheduling a small dinner for a friend and I made it clear it was her birthday. Just for the waitress to sing a happy birthday song to someone else and the lady said “it’s not my birthday, I think it’s the other girl birthday” and all the waitress had to say was “no it’s not no it’s not” as she clearly got it wrong. We spent each nearly over $100 just to be treated like this and it was unpleasant and disappointing. I was just sad at the fact that my friend felt as if she wasn’t seen on her own birthday. She don’t even get a dessert at the end as the lady still didn’t correct her mistake.
I came here for a birthday dinner. Got there ON TIME but still had to wait over 30 min for our party to be seated! The greeters were rude and kind of snobbish! They shouldn’t be greeters cause they don’t smile or anything! They keep the music extremely loud! Yes I like music while I’m dining but not loud to the point I have to yell to have a conversation! My table ordered almost a bit of everything off the menu. All had a pretty good taste but my pasta I wasn’t a fan of. They gave me maybe 2 shrimp and it was overflowing with sauce! I gave them 2 stars for the food! Oh & the parking is horrible! After valet got my vehicle I could not get out for over 20 min due to the traffic of people on the street and they park your cars on top of one another! Won’t be back!
Reserved a table of 2 and still had to wait 30 mins. Recommend valet parking due to the designated parking being around the corner of the restaurant. Music is really loud! I wouldn’t recommend going to converse on a date only for the vibes and drinks. Food was good but came out cold. The restrooms are shared amongst all genders and have a designated male inside the restroom to hand you paper towels?? I wouldn’t go back.
I had my birthday here and I was extremely disappointed. I reserved @ 9:15 and got there 30 mins early just for them to seat us 30 mins late after the reservation. I thought the food was worth the wait but it’s not. The ONLY food that was good was the wontons. The drinks were also subpar. This place also rub off judgy vibes. Two men, who I am pretty sure are the owners asked a lot of other tables about their experience but not once came to ours. Mind you when we were on the waiting patio (which is nice) the guy peeped his head through the door, looked us up and down and then closed the door. I would not recommend this place even for a dinner date it’s not worth it. Plus the description of the food isn’t matching with the flavors. I got the TERIYAKI lamb chop, but it tasted like regular chops, nice sear on them though. The asparagus lacked flavor. I mean the list goes on. The waitress was cool, very apologetic and in the know, but girl I told her I didn’t like that mac and cheese (it tasted like boxed white cheddar mac) and it’s like she already knew that it wasn’t good. The aesthetics are good, but it’s not worth the price when the food is subpar.
Ordered a steak. Steak came out over cooked and shrimp were hard. I was brought out 3 steak knife’s due how hard it was to cut through. Drinks not strong at all. Lamb chops bland — rice with land chops was not seasoned! The food took a while to come out. We were told there was a party of 30 upstairs; however that had nothing to do us as well being paying customers— that should’ve been communicated before we sat down. There was no oxtails as they ran out and no burgers they also ran out. Truffle fries were okay after we sent them back due to barely tasting like truffle. Tab was 216, I left unsatisfied and overly charged for the quality of food offered. Jazz band also was loud. Atmosphere is very loud and can’t hear if talking to someone next to you.
Yesterday my friends and I were celebrating a birthday and had a special evening planned for our birthday girl. Most of the group came in from out of town. Let me start with the positive: the hostess was quick to greet and immediately got our table ready. The aesthetic of the restaurant is gorgeous and the dancer they have was fantastic. That’s where the good ends. As soon as we were sat we immediately felt like a burden to the wait staff. It took about 20 minutes to get our drink orders in, and when they came out no one was impressed with the quality at our table of 7. We also went ahead and put in appetizer orders at this time. For about a span of 30 minutes our table was ignored both by our waitress and any other waitstaff who walked by. Mind you- there were about 5 tables of people TOTAL in the restaurant at the time so they were not overwhelmed at all. Quite the opposite actually. Once we finally got service, the food actually came out pretty quickly but they might as well have kept it. No one, and I mean no one, was impressed in the slightest. One of our friends ordered the Salmon and they were completely out of three different sides she requested. For the price, this is absolutely ridiculous. It honestly felt like the food quality was somehow an afterthought at a restaurant and had the nerve to have boxed mashed potatoes with $60 lamb chops. Surprisingly this wasn’t the worst part. My friend who had the salmon issue custom ordered our birthday girl an absolutely gorgeous cake and wanted it brought out with the “birthday sign” which is an additional fee mind you. This was coordinated well in advance. When the birthday sign finally came out about 2 hours into our dinner, the cake was nowhere to be found. When we asked the waitress what happened she straight up just said “I’m not even gonna lie I forgot.” Are you kidding??? At this point we were going to be late to our after dinner plans, so we just asked them to keep the cake boxed up and NOT charge the additional fee for bringing the cake out with the sign. While we had a wonderful time with ourselves, this was not the experience we envisioned for our friend. To say it was highly disappointing was an understatement. Doves, everything except the aesthetic and that dancer need an immediate 180 if you plan on staying open long in a city with so many great options. Please do better and make sure the next birthday girl or casual diner at the bar get the experience they deserve.
To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding my recent visit to your establishment. My friends and I chose your restaurant to celebrate my friend’s birthday. We were especially excited to support the business after learning of the Port Arthur connection. Unfortunately, the experience fell far below the standard expected of an upscale restaurant. To begin, our food was served cold and the portions were extremely small for the price. Despite raising concerns, the situation was never properly addressed. What made the experience even more upsetting was the behavior of your manager—a tall Black gentleman with a bald head—who visibly walked around the restaurant greeting and engaging with nearly every table except ours. This occurred even after staff was aware that we were having issues with our meals. At no point did the manager approach our table, acknowledge our concerns, or attempt to make things right. His refusal to do so felt dismissive and unprofessional. It left us feeling ignored and disrespected, as if we were not worthy of the same level of attention given to other guests. Additionally, we asked if it was possible to order onion rings, which are clearly served on top of the ribs. We were willing to pay for a full order, yet we were told no without explanation. This further added to the frustration of the evening. We spent nearly $80 on a meal only to receive cold food, limited portions, and poor customer service—without even the courtesy of a manager acknowledging us. The overall experience made us feel judged and undervalued. For clarity, we are business owners and professionals within the Black community. We are traveling nurses, entrepreneurs, boutique owners, and service providers. We work hard for our money and expect to be treated with respect when we choose to spend it. No customer should ever feel looked down upon or dismissed. Because of this experience, we will not be returning to your establishment, nor will we recommend it to others. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously so that future guests are treated with the professionalism and respect they deserve. Sincerely, Chrishon
Bad experience. My wife and I saw a post on social media for their lamb chops and that's what sold us. We were deciding between here and another spot but booked Doves based on that post. We get there and they tell us the lamb chops aren't available because they change their specials every month. Ok cool, but where was that posted? They claim they post on social media every day — yeah, pictures of people. Nothing about the February menu. Nothing saying the lamb chops were gone. I literally showed the manager or owner — whoever he was — the post that brought us in. Told him we chose this place over somewhere else because of it. His response? Sarcastic as hell. Basically told me "yeah if I were you I'd go there right now." Real professional. Couldn't leave though because the other restaurant was fully booked by then. So we were stuck. Then he comes back a second time to check on us. "How's the food? How's the experience?" Like he didn't know. The sarcasm was loud. You just told us to go somewhere else and now you wanna play host? Come on. Ended up ordering the steak and potatoes. Asked for medium well. What I got was a thin, salty, rare steak. Sent it back. And the baked potato? Butter and chives. That's it. Cheese, sour cream, bacon — all extra. On a baked potato. At a "fine dining" restaurant. I honestly felt bad for our server. That man tried his hardest to defend the business and smooth things over until even he realized there was no defending this kind of service. Paid my bill and left. Won't be back. Between the bait and switch menu, the attitude from whoever's running the place, and the food quality, I don't know what they're going for here but it's not it.
I made a reservation through Open Table for today at 530pm but when I arrived discovered the restaurant was not only closed but appears to have been out of business for sometime meanwhile Google still indicates that they are open. Adding insult to injury they made me provide a credit card for this fraudulent reservation and threaten to charge a $25 penalty fee for not showing up SMDH. This is straight foolishness and sad how common black establishments do mess like this. Happy Black History Month avoid Dove's!!!
I brought my wife, her friends, and my sister to Dove’s to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. Our reservation was for 9:15 PM. We arrived early at 9:00 PM since we were traveling from Port Arthur to Houston, but despite arriving early, we were not seated until almost 10:00 PM. We ordered a few appetizers and drinks, which were fine. However, things went downhill once we ordered our main courses. My sister and I both ordered lamb chops. After about 15 minutes, we were informed they were out of lamb chops. I chose not to order anything else because nothing else appealed to me. My sister then tried ordering oxtail yakamein. After waiting again, she was told they were out of oxtails. She then ordered a burger—only to be told they were out of beef as well. After three failed attempts to order food, she also opted not to eat. Once my wife’s friends finished their meals, we decided to at least order bread pudding for dessert—only to be told they were out of that as well. At that point, it was clear it was time to leave. Being out of this many key menu items is unacceptable, especially for a restaurant at this level. What was supposed to be a special birthday dinner for my wife was completely ruined. We will not be returning.
