Pho Tam Cali is a popular Vietnamese spot known for fresh, flavorful food and friendly service. Many rave about the pho, banh mi, and daily specials. Some customers have noted inconsistencies in broth richness and slow service at times.
Tip: Try the pho and banh mi, which are frequently praised. Be aware that service can be slow during busy periods.

One of our favorite Vietnamese spots — the food is always great and the staff are genuinely kind. They accidentally missed one of our noodle dishes, but after we mentioned it they were so apologetic and even took it off the check. Their sincere attitude was really touching. Great food and even better service — we’ll definitely keep coming back. ☺️
The shrimp rolls are really fresh, and I’ve always loved the pho. I really enjoyed everything and will definitely come back.
Literally the best VN food in Lake Forest. I’ve been trying various VN restaurants in the area and their pho/BBH has not been up to par with the flavors I was used to (my family runs a VN restaurant so I recognize which flavors are good). Pho Tam Cali hits the spot with the right seasoning, and I’ve been back twice already and I’ll likely be a frequent customer. Great pho broth, spicy pho broth is like BBH but no BBH noodles or veggies :( that’s my only wish for menu change. Banh mi’s are excellent, as is the Che Thai. Highly highly recommend.
Wasn't expecting to go here but we were in the area and have seen this place a few times in social media so I was excited to try it. Absolutely didnt disappoint at all! He the ribeye+ beef back rib. That beef rib is huge and the broth from that pho was so flavorful and "CLEAN" it wasn't oily or greasy. We also had some spring rolls and a báhn mi. Everything was made with super fresh ingredients. The staff greets you the moment you walk in and are very friendly and attentive thought the service. This spot is definitely a must try. Can't wait to go back!
This place is seriously SO GOOD! My family and I came here for lunch and the food was amazing. Everything was flavorful and super fresh. We ordered the Pho Tam Cali Special, Rib Eye Pho, Bun Bo Hue, Crispy Chicken Wings, Regular Fries and Sweet Potato Fries. We (including my picky kids, 3yo and 6yo) loved everything. For drinks, we ordered the Guava Green Tea and Vietnamese Iced Coffee and both were great. The kids each demanded their own strawberry milk, chugged it, and wanted more. The restaurant is so bright and clean, it gives such a relaxing and cozy feeling. The staff were super friendly and always checked in on us. I'm so glad Pho Tam Cali opened because I'm sure we'll be coming back a lot. Oh! We also had the Crispy Pork Banh Mi to go and it was also amazing!
Have been to this place 3x now and each time is delicious. Have had the Thai tea which isn't overly sweet which I enjoy. I've had the vermicelli with shrimp, egg rolls, sweet potato fries, crispy pork belly banh mi, and shrimp pho. My buddy had the signature pho with the and said it was delicious. All delicious but I would definitely say vermicelli is my favorite. Would recommend. The bread for the banh mi is so nice and light. Service is great. You get that family feel and it's so nice to see. I'm basically bringing all my coworkers for lunch each time I visit. Definitely worth a try.
We are well serviced. The price here is worthy for its meal and service. The pho is very delicious. They mix Vietnamese and Peru cuisine together and I can’t wait to try them next time.
✨ Hidden Gem Vietnamese Spot ✨ There is a new must-try restaurant in the OC!! You definitely want to save this for later!! Meet Krystle & Richer Ta, who opened this restaurant in February. I just happened to stop by when both were there. They are the nicest people, who want to ensure an excellent experience for all their customers. All their sauces and egg rolls are made in-house and all the proteins are freshly prepared with their own unique flavorful marinades. When it comes to Pho, the broth and the meat are what makes or breaks it. Just from the first sight, I knew it was going to be amazing! The broth is cooked for 24 hours and it comes piping hot. It’s the best homemade authentic Vietnamese pho, very rich but light, balanced and clean umami tasting pho broth. The meat is high quality with a good meat-to-noodle ratio. Everything I tried… - Egg Rolls: Minced pork and shrimp with glass noodles, onions and carrots and their house nuoc cham sauce. - Shaken Loaded Fries: Thin and crispy Garlic fries topped with cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and jalapenos, shaken sliced beef belly and sriracha aioli. - Pho Tam Cali Special: Thinly sliced rib eye, meatballs, brisket and beef back rib. Comes with bean sprouts, lime/lemon, thai basil and sliced jalapeños. - Crispy Pork Belly Banh Mi: Comes with crispy pork belly, butter mayo, pate, cilantro, jalapeños, pickles, soy sauce. - Matcha Milk Tea Tip: get the Banh Mi sandwiches for your next picnic, bridal or baby shower, staff lunch, party or event. You’ll thank me later 😉 Everything I tried was delicious but my favorites were the Pho Tam Cali Special and Crispy Pork Belly Banh Mi. 😍 Can’t wait to go back and try more dishes! Definitely my new go-to Vietnamese restaurant. 🍜 Give it a try and let me know what you think
Great place , I enjoyed the food and the service was great. I will be coming back soon to try other dishes. The cali pho and lemonade was delicious. Finally a homemade flavor restaurant around the area.

Great food!
Great place, tasty food! Best Vietnamese coffee I ever had
Everything tasted very fresh.
Excellent Pho and lovely ambience, highly recommend!
I am Vietnamese and this is the best phở in Lake Forest hands down. They even have kid menu which normally Asian restaurant don’t 👍
Best Pho I’ve had in a while! Want to try the other things on the menu too! The rolls look amazing.
Authentic pho broth and killing back rib! Vermicelli is a must have with the pho! Great taste!
This place is amazing! If you are craving for Vietnamese food, this is the place to go.
the food is amazing, every single time!
Justin was superb. He helped me pick the best dishes - shaken beef Saltado, and their pho with spicy beef broth. We will be back!
The food was amazing. The pho tam cali special came with a bone in rib. The meat melted off the bone. We also got the spring rolls and shaken beef fries. We will be back to try other menu items! 10/10!
The staff is super friendly, the food is off the hook. I had a Pho with mixed meats and it was to die for. The portions are very generous and more than reasonably priced. You MUST try!
The crew and staff are welcoming and friendly. The lovely place is pleasant and inviting. The food they serve is superb. Great job managing this store. Keep coming back!!!!!’
Super rich and clean pho broth that just warms your heart. The regular size is so generous that I could barely finish my food! The bahn mi here is also amazing especially the crispy pork bahn mi!
Kid friendly menu, clean restaurant and variety of food! Service was amazing, everyone was attentive and nice. Highly recommend and would definitely come back!!!
Best Pho in the area. We always get the special Pho with all meats. The rib meat is the best!
I enjoyed seeing this new concept. I am happy to see a new restaurant concept in the area. The design inside is very clean, and you can tell the ownership team and the employees really care about the service. Food quality was very fresh and reasonable. I would encourage a visit......
Awesome eggrolls. My husband had chicken wings and loved them.
Excellent pho! Great flavor broth, a good portion of meats, and just the right amount noodles. I'm looking forward to trying other dishes.
One of the best quality Phó I've had. Broth was hot and delicious and the food was delicious. Staff was very friendly and very nice as well. Highly recommend dining in.

Awesome food..Awesome staff..nicest people That I have met in a long time..I'm the homeless man with the pitbull in the parking lot
This place has some bomb food. Everything is fresh and the area is clean. I would go try it if you haven't yet.
We went there with my family and friend, food was so delicious and flavorful. Big servings. Highly recommended. Good customer service. See you again very soon.
This is my go-to Pho / Vietnamese restaurant in Orange County... Excellent food, super fresh & healthy. Great service from an awesome Family owned restaurant 🙏🏽
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ordered take out @ Pho Tam Cali in Lake Forest, and I can't say enough good things about my experience! From the moment we walked in, the friendly service made us feel right at home. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for enjoying a delicious meal. Now, let's talk about the food—specifically, the brisket pho. It was absolutely amazing! The broth was rich and flavorful, and the brisket was tender and perfectly cooked. Each bite was a delightful explosion of taste. The portion sizes are generous, making it a fantastic value for the quality of food you receive. If you're looking for a cozy spot with outstanding pho and top-notch service, I highly recommend Pho Tam Cali. I can't wait to go back and order more from their menu! If you order online you get $5 off. Sign up for the rewards. Next to curry pizza. Small n cozy. Pay attention at the signs at the hostess station. Left side for take out and pick up. Right side for dine in.
I didn’t get to check out the restaurant as I ordered for pick up, but the gentleman was quick to grab my food after welcoming me, and the food was great!! First timer, will definitely be back!
Wow! The broth here is amazing. So flavorful that I didn’t want to add any sauce to it. And the meats are good!! I got the Cali Special - my new favorite place. I personally prefer the broth here more than at SUP. Great service, too. It’s limited seating so I’d call first to make sure there are tables open or it would be perfect to take to go as well.
Have only had great experiences and amazing food here!
Amazing pho and even better seẻvice, broth was rich and flavorful. And everything tasted freshx absolute find! Both servers were really outgoing. It was busy and fast too. Definitely coming back!
Familia and i ate here today. Had the house saltado And i cant wait ti have it again. The spring roll was nice 2 types in one order. People are nice. We are coming back soon!
Our go-to spot for Pho outside of Westminster! The food is always excellent here. Aside from the banh mi, my boyfriend and I typically get the pho tam cali special and it hits the spot every time. The portions here are very generous and the broth is super flavorful. The staff are also very friendly as well. Not sure what his name is but one of the male servers with the arm tattoo is always so friendly and is very attentive!
Pho was amazing! They have unlimited noodles for the pho. Servers were really friendly too, They have daily promotions which was really good. Will be coming back for sure
First time order Justin who took my order is very nice and helpful
The best customer service at a Viet restaurant I've had because of Christian He was so accommodating and kind and made suggestions that I could switch out the garlic noodles with shrimp to another protein. He just went above and beyond that I will come back just for his customer service. He deserves a raise for his amazing customer service If I owned an restaurant I would poach him!
This is it. This is finally it. After living in south OC for a little over a year now, I finally found my go-to pho spot. Yes, it actually took me that long. Now, I'm no stranger to the best pho that Garden Grove/Westminster offers (and many spots in LA). I can safely say that this restaurant, matches the rich flavors and quality that I'm used to. My wife and I found this place and we sat down for a meal to wonderful staff. But when the pho and Bun Bo Hue bowls hit our tables, we knew that we were in for a treat. When we tasted both kinds of broths, we were pleasantly surprised how much we liked it and how rich they were. Anyway, this place is so good, that we've already had it twice this week. Haha. Hope everyone enjoys!
If I could only choose two words to describe this restaurant, it would be: "DELICIOUS" and "AUTHENTIC"! I have been here three times within a week because the food is so good; and I am also eating my way through their entire menu. 1. Pho - They are the ONLY Irvine-area restaurant that I would say is of the same caliber as the great Little Saigon restaurants. The broth is hot, delicious, and balanced (not salty or sweet)...AUTHENTIC. The meat is high quality with a good meat-to-noodle ratio. They use ribeye (probably one of the few places I have seen use this cut for their rare) and it works so well. The beef rib in their Special bowl is tender, still juicy, and flavorful. 2. Banh Mi (Classic) - They make it with high quality cold cut meats, cha lua (aka Vietnamese bologna) with pate and pickled vegetables are absolutely on-point; with a dash of Maggi seasoning creates the most authentic tasting banh mi I have had in all of Orange County or anywhere. Though I am more accustomed to the sectioned baguette that most other shops use, the mini-baguette they use is still good considering they probably have to buy the bread elsewhere. 3. Spring Rolls - Perfectly cooked shrimp (note: no pork) rolled in plentiful greens and not overstuffed with noodles inside. The fish sauce dipping sauce was light and subtle; very approachable. Only critique was that the rolls could have been rolled a little tighter. 4. Chicken wings - So hot and crispy...perfectly and lightly battered. Yet, they were not overcooked. I enjoyed it even without their dipping sauce (though the sauce was pretty good). Reminded me of my mom's chicken wings. All of the food is beautifully presented; you can tell they care about every single dish they serve. The wait staff is always very nice and pleasant. Pretty well run, especially for a newly opened restaurant. Definitely my go-to Vietnamese restaurant. My trips to Little Saigon are going to be much rarer now that Pho Tam (I think the name is translated as Pho Eight in Vietnamese) is open in Irvine/Lake Forest.
I just enjoyed the delicious pho with meatballs. The broth was perfect: hot, flavoured lightly, not too salty but good umami. I drank all but the dregs and I usually don’t drink much of the pho soup. Looking forward to my next visit. Compliments to the chef and the friendly and courteous waitstaff!
I ordered food for my coworker and I, and we were amazed at how delicious it all was! We ordered pho and spring rolls and a banh mi.. so flavorful.
I love this place and try to make it here weekly. I wish they were open a little later, like 9pm, so I can get it during the week.
My girlfriend n I stopped into eat and were very impressed! I'm from Garden Grove n have many restaurants offering pho in the area but they were definitely a step n grade above the rest I've been to. The food was excellent and seemed alot more authentic with very healthy portions also. They service was very good and the workers were extremely friendly and quick. We will definitely be back n have a new #1 Pho spot! I'd highly recommend them!!!
Fantastic Vietnamese food in Lake Forest. Everything was made fresh! The Bahn Mi sandwich was amazing, soft baguette and fresh ingredients. Well balanced and very tasty. The Pho was flavorful and filling

This place has variety of your favorite Vietnamese dishes and sandwiches. Flavorful broken rice pork chop and beef pho soup. I'd recommend for everyone to give this spot a try.
Update 2: We decided to give Pho Tam Cali another try after the response from the assistant manager. We’re happy to say that the Pho broth has improved. It’s still not as rich as our original visit but the flavor was good. There was ample meat and the noodles were cooked the way I like. We did take advantage of the unlimited noodles. Update: I have to agree with another recent review. Their broth has changed and not for the better. It used to be rich, like the picture. It's now much thinner and less flavorful. It's a shame. We really liked this place. Original review: When it comes to Pho, the broth and the meat are what makes or breaks it. The broth is really, really good. The rib-eye steak is high quality and tender. We are definitely coming back.
Ordered the shaken beef banh mi and thai milk tea. It came out after 10m. It wasn't quite what I expected. It was shredded beef instead of the chunks of beef I'd expect of shaken beef, but it was pretty tasty. Bread was crunchy, not the freshest. When you walk in, take out orders to the left. Sit downs are to the right, but it feels pretty inefficient since you have to walk up to the register to pay after anyway.

Got the spring rolls and the Pho Tam Cali special. The food was solid, but not mind-blowing. The pho had a good variety of different meats. Not as much noodles as other pho places, but enough for me.
Food was good at grand opening. It is getting dull. The soup stock was great. For some reasons, it also got changed. Anyways, still a to go place nearby for pho.
Would have liked if the server checked if u needed anything else after bringing my pho. I was the only customer when they 1st opened. Had to go up and pay the bill.
good crispy pork banh mi and fries, pho broth is flavorful, i wish the broth is sweeter with more onion flavor and less salty.
Great spot - obviously not a place for a first date to make an impression, but solid food and service. That little place in Lake Forest has quite a few food offerings, but this was a quality meal.
Nice vibe but the wait is quite long for the food to arrive. I ordered Pho, it had good flavor though, I recommend it but I didn't realize the meat was still on the bone. I ordered shrimp spring roll another time and it was okay, there weren't a lot of things inside the roll. The staff were pleasant and nice. The restaurant was busy, it was full when I walked in and people ordered take out as well.
Service was ok and food was good but pricey compared to other restaurants that are similar
I ordered the Cali Special Pho. The broth was fine, maybe a little lighter than I prefer, but hoisin helps out with that. I would have liked to see Ngò Gai (culantro) as a garnish, but it's basically a 50/50 shot at restaurants nowadays. I was really impressed with the beef rib. It was *actually* fall off the bone, so I did not have to awkwardly gnaw on it while splashing my soup everywhere. The restaurant itself looked pretty typical hole for a smaller pho restaurant. Service was pretty fast for dine-in for noon on a weekday. It did look like there was little bit of a line building for takeout orders.
Food was ready as promised. Lemongrass beef spring rolls were great!
***UPDATE *** gave it another go. This time I ordered a specialty item - the Saltado with crispy tofu. It was fantastic! Very authentic Peruvian-Vietnamese dish with a soft boiled egg on top of rice, crispy fries with wok fried tofu, onion, tomato and cilantro aoli. I will be back. Old review - The people are nice. The food is OK. Vermicelli bowl - cold pork but recently cooked (warm) chicken. Tiny eggroll which quickly turned mushy in the sauce. Fresh veggies. Ok sauce. So it'll do in a pinch.
I’ve been coming here since they opened and raved to all my co workers about this place. Food is delicious the only problem is when I ordered take out today we didn’t receive what was described in the menu. I ordered two spicy soups and I know for a fact that they come with crispy pork belly however, they did not include that. I even doubled check the menu to make sure I didn’t order the wrong thing but it’s the only spicy soup on there. Only reason I ordered from here vs. long’s noodles was because we were craving the spicy soup base with crispy pork belly. Overall love this place but just wished they would update their menu if it has changed.
My husband and I love the spicy pho and banh mi here. However it’s such a shame that the crispy pork belly is no longer included with the spicy pho. That’s what really brought us here in the first place. We’ll have to order it as a side if we really want it now. Other than that our family enjoys the delicious food and drinks here and will continue to support this establishment in the future.

The store is compact but vibe is okay though. Service is very slow as I waited for too long to get a water. The rare beef and the rib did not come out as I expected from an authentic Vietnamese restaurant. The sprouts were not fresh.
For me it was nothing special. The broth is just OK. They don’t have tendon which is my favorite at all Pho Vietnamese restaurants. The service is OK, but when I walked in, just abut every table was dirty and i was told to sit down before they got a chance to wipe my dirty table down. Also had to point to the seat which needed to be wiped down since they missed it. Prices are within range now-a-days and their Satay lemongrass chili sauce was delicious. Ordered the large size beef belly as seen in the picture.

They are out of chicken wings today, and the food was luke warm. I was hoping for better!
Good place for working days lunch, they have Vietnamese Pho, sandwiches and coffee for those who craving for Vietnamese food at work. Update in response to the owner: can you tell the different between rated 5-Star hotel and a rated 3-Star hotel?
Typical suburban pho, soup devoid of anything exciting like tripe, tendon, and taste. Salt was the predominant taste and there was too much of it. Overall it's pho that's been diluted by its customer base. Service great, decent atmosphere
Frequently go to this spot since they opened, and the service is normally good. Today was a joke, the guy behind the counter wearing a black LA hat (maybe Justin P.) was in another world. When I walked up he didn’t respond to me at all it wasn’t till another employee said hi to me and said something to him that he broke his silence to say one word “wait”. Then after he took my order and I waited a while for my food I see another employee pack up my food and put it next to him on the counter. I wait two maybe three minutes for him to call me, but nothing, so I approach the counter and ask him “is that mine” this individual was so far gone that I had to repeat my self twice and say “excuse me, sorry to bother you, but is that my food?” He responds by asking me my name, fine I told him my name and he still wasn’t sure if it was my food because he spelled my name so horribly wrong he didn’t understand what he had typed, finally I tell him my order and he says just “yeah” so I take it and go… everyone else working there is usually wonderful but this guy was a joke! The food is also good, I just had to write something because I walked away actually upset because if the interaction.
This place was good when it first opened but unfortunately it didn’t maintain quality. The bahn me had disproportionate ingredients and a big part of the chicken was skin! My plate was missing an egg although they confirmed it came with one! They increased the prices this year and definitely decreasing the quality. Food is def overpriced! Also the person who prepped the bahn me was chewing gum and had a lot of make up on. Not hygienic at all. This place is so convenient but due to the decreasing food quality I will no longer get food from here. For management: please address the hygiene issue ASAP. It is against regulation to chew gum & wear make up while prepping food in a commercial place.
This might be great for pho as the broth was good but the spring rolls were somewhat lacking and the bahn mi were pretty bad (ordered two different ones and would not get them again) - they're on a roll instead of a baguette making them too bready, overloaded with mayo-based sauce, pretty low quality meat, and the wrong kinds of pickles. Good for a quick bite but avoid the sandwiches.
It wasn't as good as I was hoping, which is a bit of a bummer cause it's so close to home. I had the Pho and the broth wasn't nearly as delicious as other places. The girl that seated us was pleasant but there was a guy that brought out the food, he wasn't very friendly. I'll give it one more try cause I want to try the wings and a sandwich. Hopefully those are better.
I got their special pho bowl. Broth was warm not hot. People are pleasant but not very helpful. Wanted to support a local business nearby. So came in. Ate lunch and tried to get some. Catering told me they couldn't make it happen then they could then offered a discount then couldn't honor the discount so I got over it. Now I'm on the way to another restaurant to order catering, which was the primary purpose of me stopping in. If this is a family run business, they need to go above and beyond to make the client feel special, especially if they're willing to spend hundreds of dollars at your business if they are just employees they need to train better staff that cares. I love giving small businesses as a chance, but unfortunately, this time I am off to lees sandwiches. Their pricing is consistent, and my order will be ready within minutes.
I thought the good reviews meant something… My experience was mediocre. Pho was ok nothing I’d recommend to friends or family. Service was slow and they weren’t busy. Felt that I was mislead by nice photos and other reviews. Staff was polite though so that would be the best part of the experience.
Lots of flies and horrible customer service.
First impressions matter! No air conditioner… had to leave within 5 mins. Food for take out was dry and too fishy.
Really bad Mariyam was terrible she was really rude
Got food poisoning yesterday Oct 3 Ruined our day as well as today
Went to this shop with my kids who wanted Thai iced tea. The lady at the cash register took our order, paid almost $7 with tax for large tea. She then proceeds to make the tea and filled up both large cups entirely with ice up to the brim. I pointed out that I wanted less ice, then she removed the top 25% of the ice very reluctantly. After this the owner of the store came to the lady and told her to not fill the cups all the way with tea which was shocking to me. We got the large Thai tea cups filled only 75% with tea and top 25 % of the cups were empty. This place nickels and dimes people and you will not get your money’s worth of food that you are paying for. Read other reviews and people have commented similar things that they try their best to short change you on the food that they give. I get boba drinks on a weekly basis and usually ask for less or regular ice but never ever have I gotten anything less than a completely filled cup. I want to warn all you boba drink lovers that this shop adjusts the drink amount they give you to the amount of ice in it. If your cup is fully filled with ice only then they will fill it all the way with drink because then they will have to use less drink amount. If you ask for less ice then they will lower the drink amount just so they can save a few cents of tea. This is highly unethical and unfair to paying customers who pay for a large cup of drink and not a large cup of ice.
Please add fried egg as an added option to your banh mi 😭
I ordered a take out and paid on-line. Went to pick up and restaurant doesn't have my order. After a while, things have figured out (restaurant's fault). Been told food is ready in 5 - 8 minutes. I waited 15 minutes and get inpatient. Finally I went home and one dish I ordered was missing. There 3 - 4 Vietnamese restaurants near me (15 minutes driving). I don't go to this one often because the food vs price is average. 2 major mistakes in one order make it 1 star. By the way, I ordered extra large PHO ($2 extra) and it seems like regular size.
This place adds a tip automatically to an online takeout order. You have to zero it out or else you just tipped them unknowingly. Not good business practice.
Terrible experience. I got the grilled shrimp salad. Two of the 5 shrimps were rotten and smelly. I also got the shrimp pho for mom and she got sick so it’s probably some sort of food poisoning . This is our second back to back disappointing experience. We will not go back.
When I was paying, the server stood right next to me watching as I was choosing the tip, which made me feel pressured. After I selected “custom,” they showed attitude and slammed the payment machine on the table. It was really uncomfortable and honestly quite intimidating. I came here to enjoy a meal, not to feel pressured or scared when paying.
This is the worst pho place I have ever dined at. I even gave them 18% tip and asked for extra basil, but they only gas me own stem of basil with barley any basil leaves on it. And large pho only had three pieces of meats. And they are very stingy with noodles. The matcha tea was $7 for one cup serving. They put extra ice in there so you only get a few sips out of the drink. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!!!!! It is. Biggest scam!!!!!
