Went with a few buddies. Food was excellent. Portions were huge. Our waiter was on point with great recommendations and service. Will definitely go back again.

This place is really a special place. The food is delicious. I even ordered catering for 10 people from here once. I was having game night at home with friends. I got a tray with a generous amount of spaghetti and meatballs with sausages, we got chicken and some other things and everything was delicious and everyone who came was very happy with the food. The staff is super friendly. I couldn't vouch for this place enough. It's my favorite authentic Italian spot by far.

We have been coming to this Italian Restaurant consistently for a few years since relocating to Woodhaven. We ordered several times online (GrubHub) with mixed results, onsite service is spot always. Most recently we came for Mother's Day, considering how late I was in finding a place and making reservations, I was surprised we found a spot. It was a tight fit as there were a bunch of large table setups, the place was truly packed. They had a set menu for the day. Ultimately it was a lovely experience and we were happy to share it with the folks at Matteo's.

My daughter just had her baby shower there today and everything from the service, food, hospitality, price, ambience, was nothing but near perfection. Everyone was raving about the food and service. We also had dinner there before booking this place and absolutely loved the food and service. I would definitely recommend this establishment for either dinner or a party experience. The men hung out at the bar and the drinks were amazing as well. Valet parking was very convenient too.

Ate at Matteo's Howard Beach last night for our anniversary dinner. Let me tell you, it was the best meal we have had in a while!!! My husband started with the Lobster Bisque Soup, which he said has nice chucks of lobster in. I started with the Matteo’s chopped salad, which would have easily fed 4 people as an appetizer. Then we shared the bucatini carbonara and the veal Milanese special, washed down with a bottle of Riesling. I wish I new my waiters name, he truly was a gem, huge heart and loved his job. Our glass was never empty, our plates were never empty, got the whole wait staff to sing happy anniversary over a pistachio tartufo. We loved the table side service and the hospitality. The only downside was there was a party upstairs and we could hear the muffled music over the music that was trying to play in the dinning room. Definitely won’t stop us from coming back.

I was miserable when the original restaurant once in this place went out of business. I can gladly say that Matteo's is even better. The eggplant rollatini served as an appetizer was so tasty. I would have preferred thicker cut fried zucchini, but it was also very good with a really nice sauce on the side. Main dishes offered were very, very good, Service was friendly and attentive. Count on a return visit.

Can't wait to go back. Frankie, our waiter, suggested I try the Chicken Marie and I WAS NOT disappointed. Great place for friends or family to meet and share a beautiful meal. P.S. The Peroni glasses are amazing 😉.

Booked a luncheon for a family function. It was just the week before and I had many people coming from Cali and FLA. I passed on 5-6 other places because of the size or parking, reviews. Anthony put me at ease but I was still nervous until an hour in when everyone was raving about the amount of food, quality and service. There is valet parking, a lot and also street parking. Chicken Matteo, Shrimp dish, baked clams, fried calamari and the Napolean cake were all amazing. Difficult people in my crew came up to thank me. Book with confidence.

The potato croquettes and Chicken Marie were beautifully flavored. Everything was served fresh and hot from the oven. The bread was soft on the inside and had an absolutely crispy layer on the outside.

will start off by saying that I wish that I can give more than 5 stars. This restaurant is conveniently located at crossbay blvd. An amazing area and near transportation. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the valet and walked into a very warm welcome by the staff. They were very hospitable and accommodating. I loved Anthony Amoroso who made me and my guests feel like family. My servers Louis and Frankie were nothing short of amazing. There is excellent customer service all around. Here are some highlights : Restrooms- clean, nice decor, smells amazing Restaurant- nice ambiance, well lit, romantic setting, clean, comfortable, and classy Food & Desserts- no words. Chefs kiss Atmosphere - family- like, respectful My group of 9 enjoyed our celebration. The staff went above and beyond. Yes the price is slightly elevated but if you see white linen tablecloths you know what to expect. Was worth every dollar. Please note they have accessible bathrooms available. I cannot wait to go back.

The staff are courteous and attentive. Their food is fresh, tasty, right-portioned & tender. My Chicken DJ is unique in its menu. The two pieces of chicken breast were served on a bed of spinach. My husband’s chicken with tomatoes, mozzarella and balsamic vinaigrette was also served differently. He enjoyed his meal although the chicken breast pieces were not as big as those on my dish. White table cloths - 👍 Dim lights - Cozy but too dark to read the menu even with the mini lamps on the table. Street parking spots are few but I understand that use of the Capital One Bank parking lot is allowed.

Spent my Father’s Day with my family at Matteo’s of Howard beach. What a classic to go to a family style Italian restraunt with the people you love. We enjoyed our meal together lots of pastas, cheese, seafood, and wine of course. The waiter was helping us cut our food and served it on our plate too. The place is decorated very elegantly yet still has a cozy feeling as well. Overall lovely, delicious and great time.

We had about 67 guest and we were all blown away by their incredible menu - we purchased the platinum package and it was the best! Matteo's has been recommended to me multiple times by many friends of mine. Decided to take wife here for her birthday, and it was most definitely the right choice. Food is amazing, well seasoned, and the timing is on point. When we asked for a glass of Jameson on the rocks, we got a HUGE glass, filled to the rim. Price of more than 3 hours of feasting and drinking to our fulfillment was WAY cheaper than expected. Staff was super professional, attentive, and very kind to us. This is a wonderful establishment we plan on visiting way more often.

Celebrated my MIL's birthday at Matteo's. Highlights were the broiled veal for me. Kids loved their penne a la vodka and Fettuccine Alfredo. The dessert platter they bought out was insane. It had everything on it. Two week before we rented the room downstairs for a team dinner for about 40 of us. Both times were great service and great food.

My family went here for Thanksgiving this year and ordered off the regular menu. We started w the chopped salad with salami and cheese. We all thought this may have been the best salad we ever had. It was excellent. For our main meal we all had a veal dish. All was very good. Portions are huge. Service throughout was right on. Our waiter was personable. Not cheap but worth the money for a special occasion. Prices may have been higher bc of holiday so check. I will be back. I would give this restaurant 4.5 stars, just not sure how to do this.

Food was fabulous!!!! The decor was stunning. Only huge downside was my husband and i, who were sitting next to each other, had to communicate via texting because we could not hear one another. Even though the restaurant was only half full, it was SO SO VERY LOUD!!!!!! Almost felt as if some tables were having a contest of who could talk and laugh the loudest. I have NEVER been on a restaurant this upscale and this loud at the same time. it ruined an otherwise wonderful meal.

If you don't mind an extremely loud atmosphere, then dine here. One suggestion, don't order any shrimp. They definitely did not taste fresh. Everything else we had was delicious.

The food was really fresh. I enjoyed my meal- The prices were great.. No complaints there. What found odd was there were no women serves / waitresses. We did feel rushed, one of the servers brought togo container before we received our entree. Very odd so we ask the maître d’ why? He just removed them without a why! However, I would definitely dine there again.

I've been wanting to try this restaurant for years, only because it's been around for a while and I'm a big fan of Italian food. The food was good, nothing really stood out. Regular Italian food. The outside of the restaurant gives you an old Italian restaurant vibe but the inside decor is very... Bland. Didn't give me the Italian vibe I wanted that night. But if you want good Italian food, this is the spot.

We went with a larger party so we were seated in the room downstairs. The room was great, spacious, quiet and enjoyable. Coming from a restaurant background I understand a busy night but it felt like we were forgotten, everything took a while. Other than that food was excellent, room was great. Good morning. My family and I dined at your restaurant last night, and while the food was excellent, the service from our waiter, Sean, left us very disappointed. From the start, he was dismissive and condescending whenever we asked simple questions about the menu. His tone made us uncomfortable, to the point where we hesitated to ask for items that were missing, such as an extra cup or a drink that never arrived. I understand it was a busy holiday evening, but at no point were we disrespectful or demanding. Despite that, Sean did not return to check on us once after our food came out. This led me to reach out to the manager on the second floor to request a different server, as we were celebrating my mother’s 80th birthday along with Thanksgiving, and the experience was being overshadowed by his behavior. Once Jimmy took over, the atmosphere at our table changed immediately. He was kind, attentive, and made my mother feel truly celebrated, even though he was clearly handling a heavy workload himself. His professionalism stood out, and we appreciated him greatly. It is disappointing that a restaurant as reputable as yours employs staff who speak to patrons in such a condescending manner. Because of this experience, I do not see myself returning, despite how much we enjoyed the food. I hope steps are taken to address service issues like this so future guests do not have their celebrations diminished.

I went there for a company Christmas party, upstairs room which was nice. The food was OK at best. The servers wouldn't take our utensils after each serving, they put them back on the table dirty. We ended up using the same utensils for the entire meal. I have never been to a restaurant that does this, it's a disgusting practice to say the least.

The food was a bit pricey for the quality. The potato croquettes were horrible!!! The Tortellini Alfredo was pretty good. The veal marsale was tasty as well. However, our waiter stunk of cigarettes...something one doesn't want to smell while being served food. Question; I have never heard of an italian family style restaurant adding a 20 percent gratuity to a bill??? Especially when the check cover has a BIG STICKER THAT STATES "CASH TIPS ONLY" Well, whoever decided to add the 20 percent screwed himself because my husband and I usually tip more than that....shame.

Bruno’s was closed for vacation and Don Pepe isn’t open on Monday so we tried Matteo. The martinis were barely passable. The veal saltimbocca was floating in grease red sauce. Service was poor with dirty plates remaining on the table for 10 mins. The bill came and when I paid and I notice they charged me 5% for credit without telling me. Finally, they asked for the tip in cash. Enough said.

My mother in law had one of the worst experiences ever at this restaurant. Her and six friends had gone here because of it’s “amazing” food and service and being treated like family since they reside in Howard beach and are part of the community. They had arranged this dinner as a memorial for a family member who had recently passed away. At this dinner they wanted to honor her memory by keeping an empty seat and plate in her honor. That was too much of a request for this place, that their waiter and manager kept on trying to take the empty chair and plate every 10 minutes. They even took the flower from the vase on the center of the table to place it into someone else’s table while they were eating. As she was leaving she was trying to place an order to go for her husband who was feeling under the weather and the waiter rudely told her after splitting a check seven ways that it wasn’t possible for her to order another dish. Quite frankly I’ve been to plenty of restaurants and they’re all capable of splitting checks and adding an on the go order to one of those checks. If Red Lobster can do it I’m sure they can too. The manager and staff should really rethink their values and customer service skills possibly take a class on customer service. One would think because this place is “family style Italian favorites” they would actually treat paying customers specially those who were grieving with quality customer service and understand the situation by having some humanity and just letting the chair and empty plate remain at their table. We will no longer be going to this restaurant.

Our waiter was extremely rude to me twice during our visit. We came as a large party and he wanted my attention so he could say the specials. After he got my attention he proceeded to say “HELLO?! Hello?!” Several times to me. Completely unnecessary and rude. Ruined my whole mood after that and I couldn’t enjoy my meal. I recommend the penne alla vodka and pistachio tortufo if you must dine here. We wanted to make this an annual gathering for my husband’s grandpa’s birthday, but I will not be returning. We dine out a lot and I’ve never felt so humiliated.

The food is good however I would not recommend a large party or group. They have issues with counting the number of people in your party and their count won’t match yours. Not worth the argument at a large family celebration so I won’t be back. Tip requirement was excessive also

After having the meal, the owner questioned why I did not tip $20 for every $100 the bill was. It was beyond rude and clearly showed his inability to consider the circumstances his customers may be in. While a tip is clearly courtesy to what a person could afford, the owner decided that customers should pay the salary of his workers instead of raising their base pay himself. My family and I will never go here again. Much better places out there to get great tasting food and be treated with respect. I do not recommend going here unless you want to pay a $70000 salary for the waiter, the owner clearly wants to have no part in paying himself.

I am very sorry to have to put a bad rating in this difficult time for everyone but it is important that the owners of this place consider this type of behavior. I went to dinner with my family, the food was good but the service was of very poor quality, they did not serve us bread or any companion for food, we waited long time for food, the staff was friendly but very little interested in our table compared to other Italian places in the same style. However we decided to enjoy dinner. When we asked the bill after long time of wait they gave us the bill charged with 20% of tip over the grand total. I understand that restaurants can adopt policies about big group tables to charge by them selves tip amount but this should be a consensus according to the type of service and restaurant, in addition to illustrating the consumer law before making a decision where the customer and their money are directly affected. The tip must be charged on the total before taxes, the percentage charged must be according to the service offered, thus charging 20% ​​to an account where the service was excellent and the team is professional with qualified experience is perfect. .. but after the poor service that they gave us and they give us an invoice with the maximum percentage is disgusting. However, when we asked the waiter why they charged us a tip in this way, his answer was "it's only 3 dollars difference, if you want, I'll refund the difference." I want to make it clear that it is not about the amount but the unprofessional behavior and the misrepresentation of the team to this place as a business.

I visited this pace to celebrate my nieces birthday after all the amazing reviews. We were a total of over 15+ people and spent over $1,000. My issue with this place is that they state the plates are “Family style” but, can barely feed 2 people at best. I ordered the most expensive cuts of meat to serve 2-3 people and was only offered 1 side that barely fed a single person. I had also asked about substitutions and was told yes for any of the substitutions I asked about. The food also lacked flavor and I barely finished anything because even the sauce for the shrimp scampi was like water. Prices also vary by the employee you ask and that was a HUGE RED FLAG. When it was time for the check we received a paper with chicken scratch handwriting that was not readable. When you are spending over $1,000 the least you would like to see is an itemized receipt. Then , I saw that ALL the substitutions incurred a full price charge. If we would have known that, we would have stuck to the original side instead of paying for an entire new meal just for the cost of the side. To top it off, they add a huge gratuity even if service is mediocre and charge a large percentage for debit and credit. After arriving home and going back and forth with the manager and assistant regarding the actual prices of our meals we gave up and promised to never return to this place. Save your money! Go somewhere else where you know what you’re paying for and is actually worth it! If you do, please ask for a decent receipt where it looks like an actual adult is writing.

Ended up paying $130+ on a $300 bill because of "service charges", "credit card charges", "gratuity", and a couple other fees and the tip we gave before we got to see the $100 non food related charge for a party of three. The most unprofessional staff we've ever encountered where they were extorting us into paying 30% on our bill. These practices are of a mob and that's all they wish they were. You aren't the Sopranos.

This review is long overdue but here it is, anyway. I came here for lunch years ago to celebrate my son’s graduation with his friend. The experience started off OK with the host sitting us at a table and the server took our orders shortly after. Our food was good and our server was attentive and pleasant until two white men arrived and were seated a few tables away from ours. Our server had to serve them, too, and he instantly became more attentive to the men and started giving me a bad attitude which made me want to leave and not return. All customers should be treated courteously regardless of age and ethnicity. Do better, Matteo’s.

Sorry guys! We stayed there almost 3 hours. The food was good except it was warm and cold on top I think it was left on the counter for so long. My husband had the honey glazed salmon. It was cold, dry and over cooked. Was so noisy you could hardly hear my family talking. It was my daughter 's 25th wedding anniversary and hoping to have a good time. We were so disappointed with the way they acted. They were more concern with the other guests because they are Italians. Nobody even bother to ask if everything is ok.
