My 3rd visit! I've been here for breakfast, lunch and happy hour. I can't wait to try dinner. Best coffee and french toast for breakfast. Best mojito that I've ever had. They give complimentary buttery toasted bread when you dine in.
This place was amazing! The food was impeccable, and we were seated right away. The atmosphere is a little loud, so not the great place for conversation... But to be fair, when you are stuffing yourself with their dishes, you will likely want to save the talking for later anyway. Enjoy!
Amazing Spanish cuisine great Customer Service and a beautiful ambience.
I was in town for a keynote speaking engagement for one of my business partners. When he asked me what I wanted for dinner, I told him to take me to one of his top local favorite restaurants. Carlos brought me to this place. The food and service was amazing. Highly recommend. Thank You 😊
Couldn't have been better. Great food, great waitress. A+
Great food. The people that work there are friendly and pleasant.
Very hospitable! The food was delicious, quick, and clean. Our servers were kind and courteous. An acquaint recommended and was instantly upgraded to friend due to the fact that we loved and enjoyed our time. Only someone that cares for you would be thoughtful enough to share. A+ all around.
What a gem this place is! Wanting to meet a friend for an early dinner that was at around the halfway mark from where each of us was traveling, I found this place that had both nice pictures and positive reviews, and boy! where those reviews right! The outside of the restaurant, for starters, looks like they do a lot of work to keep it looking nice and welcoming. While it seems like everyone is chopping down all their trees, they're lining their restaurant with new ones and keeping the plots well manicured. Walking through the heavy wooden door, I was welcomed with a "sir" and a smile. Ordinarily, the only time I hear someone call me 'sir' it is followed up with, "you're making a scene." Relieved this was not the case this time. I was promptly shown to my table, given a digital menu, which was switched to English so I didn't have to use my Google Translate app. I tried an Americano before dinner and an espresso after, which were both nice. The steak I ordered was sizzling on the pan when it was set before me and was beautifully charred on both sides and well seasoned. From the dark-stained wooden ceiling, the brick archways and walls, the thoughtfully-positioned chair rails, the new tile floors and well-chosen pieces of art and decor, the whole vibe was warm and welcoming. My whole experience was a breath of fresh air, and it totally elevates the neighborhood surrounding it. The city would do well to develop the area immediately surrounding this restaurant as a reward for keeping their business so nice. I'll be back!
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Philly. They have some of the best latin american cuisine around. It’s very welcoming and the food is delicious as hell. They also have a solid happy hour too for drinks & appetizers. Definitely a great place to go if you’re craving Dominican/Ecuadorian food. 10/10, I highly recommend.
I drive an hour and a half to the restaurant and all I can say is it’s worth it. Everything is worth it the food, the server and the entertainment.
This is the second time we ate here. The food was delicious 😋. I had a chicken dish with a creamy sauce and it was fantastic 😊. Plenty of food, the staff were helpful and attentive. We will definitely be having dinner there again.
I had different doshes at this wonderful restaurant. However, I was dissapointed with Aroz Pollo Colombiano. There were a few small it seems shredded pieces of chicken. I mean there was basically no chicken just rice. For 19 dollars I expected to have some protein. So, better order chicken dishes that are little bit more money but at least you paid for nice chicken brest. Athmosphere is excellent and staff and music along with interior ambiance add to a wonderful excitement on a rainy or sunny day.
Gracias for hosting an amazing fiesta during the Copa America Final ⚽🏆🇨🇴💯 The professional staff, tasty food & lively atmosphere exceeded our expectations! We lived in South Florida for a while and it's hard to find such a place in Philly, but Tierra was THE place to be last night. Would be a great venue for any special occasion (wedding, anniversary, birthday, sporting event, etc.) but even just to go eat some really authentic arepas & empanadas would be worth going here. This easily was the best "delay of game" I've ever experienced, as the match was postponed over an hour, the DJ & band took over and turned the energy up ten fold. What a party it was 🎉
Oh wow! This place is just amazing, I hadn't had such a delicious Hispanic meal since I moved to the states two years ago. EVERYTHING was delicious. If you're a Hispanic trying to find a place to eat your favorite dish cooked just like back home or someone just trying to taste Hispanic dishes you have to visit Tierra Colombiana... Period...
The food is always plentiful, authentic, and delicious. The staff regularly checks on your party to make sure everything is ok. The atmosphere is pleasant and the restaurant is clean. It's busy, but not crowded. I've been here many times for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and have always enjoyed my time at Tierra.
Tierra Colombiana just never disappoints… it was my spot when I used to live in Philly. Came back to visit and decided to go after 8 years. Still delicious! I used to go for the bandeja paisa… decided to switch up and try the picada especial and it was everything! And the Blue Hawaiian!!! Must try… nice and strong!
Food is always good here. The service is good. I typically don’t like when gratuity is included because I like to tip on the actual service but the wait staff has yet to disappoint and they don’t slack just because their tip is guaranteed. It was my first time Back since the Covid shutdown in 2020 and four years later they have not skipped a beat!
Great food, atmosphere can be a little crowded but it doesn't take away from the experience. Servers are friendly & helpful with recommendations especially Catherine. Drinks are strong & made well but again I can't emphasize how good the food is. Absolute must. If you're into latin music, upstairs is a club on the weekends check it out.
Tierra Colombiana Restaurant in Philadelphia offers an authentic Colombian dining experience with a twist of universal appeal. The menu is diverse, featuring everything from cocktails and salads to variously prepared meats and soups, catering to a broad palate. The lively and energetic atmosphere is enhanced by vibrant music and decor that transports you to a quaint Colombian locale. The restaurant strikes the perfect balance between busy and bustling without feeling overcrowded, creating a pleasant, high-energy environment. The servers are not only knowledgeable and attentive but also charming and ready with great suggestions to enhance your dining experience. While the food is moderately priced, the quality and taste make it worth every penny. Although street parking can be a bit tricky, persistence usually pays off, and you can often find a spot right in front of the restaurant. If you're looking to immerse yourself in Colombian culture or simply want to try something new, Tierra Colombiana Restaurant is the place to go. The broad menu ensures there's something for everyone, and the excellent staff and vibrant atmosphere make for an unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommended
First time visiting this place and the second we walked in through the door, my mouth was drooling from the smell of everything. The staff were all friendly. Food was phenomenal, I've been craving it since. I wish they delivered all the way to my house. I can't wait to have date night here again!
Authentic Latin food with full bar and modern atmosphere. Mixture of people come by. Most of the staff has some difficulty with English but nothing that can't be overcome. menus and signs are all listed in English and Spanish. Margaritas are excellent. Definitely recommend if you're in the neighborhood.
I visited Tierra Colombiana Restaurant in Philadelphia and really enjoyed the experience! It’s a cozy, authentic Colombian spot with bold, comforting flavors — the kind of place that feels like a home-cooked meal. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, perfect for a casual lunch or dinner with friends or family. The menu features classic Colombian dishes like arepas, empanadas, bandeja paisa, and rich stews that are full of flavor and satisfying. Everything I tried felt fresh and well-seasoned, with great portions that leave you full and happy. Service was friendly and attentive, and I loved how each dish gave me a true taste of Colombian cuisine. If you’re in Philly and craving hearty, authentic Latin American food, Tierra Colombiana Restaurant is definitely worth checking out!
I Love Tierra. I've been coming to this place probably at least 25 years. Always amazing food, hits the spot every time. If you haven't yet been, you're missing out in life. Get with it.
The paella here is a must try. It takes a bit for it to come out, given that it is prepared fresh on the spot, but the seafood and the rice alongside the seasoning harmonizes graciously in your mouth as if they're performing a waltz.
I have loved this place for decades. Why do I keep coming back? Because it’s authentic, welcoming and delicious! I’ve been to high quality places in Latin America and can say Tierra Colombiana takes me there right here in Philadelphia. The dishes are delicious, the coffee is tasty and strong, and the drinks are amazing. Come for a consistently great experience: both food, atmosphere and friendly staff.
Went there for a birthday celebration, the food was absolutely delicious. It was plenty and with a lot of scrumptious choices for the main course. The appetizers were awesome. Their sangria was great. They do a great job with salmon and the meats offered. My peril was delicious. I was really stuffed and had to take rest home. Highly recommend this place.
Atmosphere: Tierra Colombiana is truly a hidden gem in North Philadelphia. The moment you walk in, you’re transported to Colombia. This was thanks to the lively Latin music, vibrant décor, and inviting ambiance. The interior strikes a beautiful balance between rich mahogany wood and bright, festive colors. It’s the kind of space that feels both cozy and celebratory, perfect for a birthday dinner, graduation party, or just a fun night out. Food: I ordered the salmon, which came with creamy mashed potatoes, a rich caper sauce, and a side of avocado and sweet plantains. The presentation was impressive, and every bite was full of flavor. The portion was generous enough that I had leftovers to enjoy the next day. Service: The service was prompt, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. One standout feature was their digital iPad menu, which included photos and even videos of each dish. It’s a thoughtful touch that makes choosing your meal so much easier, especially for visual eaters like me. Note: Please note that there is an automatic gratuity added to all dine-in meals. It seems like this is regardless of the party size.
Tierra Colombiana is an amazing spot for Latin cuisine! The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, making it a perfect place for dining out. The menu is filled with authentic dishes that are both delicious and beautifully presented. Every visit feels like a delightful culinary journey through Latin America. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy fabulous flavors and a great dining experience!
I have always been a huge fan of this restaurant. The food quality and wonderful and consistent. I enjoy trying something new every time and they have so much to choose from. What has been somewhat newly initiated is the 18% gratuity added to your bill. Just keep that in mind when getting your meals 😉 Enjoy!!
Yepppp this place is great and I will 100% be back! The food is flavorful and authentic, the atmosphere is inviting, and the staff are very friendly. Of course, it will be a plus if you can speak and understand Spanish too. Our server was so nice and let me practice ordering in Spanish! (Not in a cringey and embarrassing way. I’ve legitimately been studying Spanish for two years now but need the confidence to speak with native speakers lol) so she spoke to me in Spanish the whole time and gave us some great food recommendations and even told us which items on the menu weren’t worth trying. I loved it! Can’t wait to go back and try something new again.
The food has always been delicious and the service is really good. Due to coronavirus the wait was 45 minutes to get seated, so be extremely patient. Also, pay attention to your receipt as they automatically charge you 18% for gratuity. Not sure if this is legal. The workers do deserve it... I would rather give them the cash tip, so I know they received it as some places do not give their employees the gratuity the patron wants them to have and paid for via credit card. They need to open another Tierra up in the great northeast or in lower Bucks County to serve the large Latino population in the area.
Great food choices of food from Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Cuba and more. Delicious and authentic. Went around 830pm and was seated right away. However during summer time it’s way busier. They do take a minute to come over but they bring water and bread to buy some time. Appetizer: Guacamole and plantain chips. Entree: Red Snapper in Coconut Sauce, Pernil. Both came with your choice of rice and beans and plantains. Mojito was strong.
An experience worth reliving every now and again. The aroma in the air the ambiance and more importantly, taste of the food is thrilling.. I have traveled extensively tried various cuisines and delicacies... this was by far one of my top ten.. the correlation between their food and that of west Africa makes me wonder if the slave trade had anything to do with it🤔.. nonetheless I'd recommend a visit..😊
I've been here several times. I have had several different dishes. The appetizers are good, soup is good and desserts are good. This time around we had the seafood paella and it fell short for the price. It was $75 and the rice was mushy, the seafood over cooked and it lacked flavor. We also ordered mofongo with criollo sauce. The sauce was gelatinous versus a good tomato based sauce. But hey, maybe this is how its made in Colombia. The dining room was cold so it made it uncomfortable to sit for an entire meal. The server was excellent as the coffee and dessert. I do like this place but that paella was not my favorite. I gave the food 3 stars because you can't really mess up tostones, chicharrón and the soup was good. Not sure that I would travel from out of state again to eat here.
Food was very good at this place but our server was terrible, wasn't paying too much attention to our orders, used to get lost for long time, didn't gave us what we want not good at all by the way it was a female server, other than that place is ok, just have to work a little better on their service.
Great place, over decades, to eat. Colombian comfort food at its best. Tablet menus are badly programmed. Difficult to navigate and ingredients of dishes mostly left out. Ordering takes a lot longer than a regular menu as you may be taking time to find the dishes you are interested in and then order. Nothing to fault here other than that and poor acoustics. These could be improved but as invariably a full restaurant over decades, there has been no improvement in decades!
This was my 2nd time. I was here years ago but this last time. Exceptional! The food was fresh and the options were limitless. I loves the tablets with the vibrant pictures. There were juices, shakes and the drink menu...OMG! I had the passionfruit margarita. The passionfruit was freshly made but just with juice. The chicaron was crunchy and the side sauce was to die for. The chicken Everything came out amazing. I was upset we didnt get to order dessert. From what I hear its a club after hours. I definitely need to go back for that.
It's more a latin than colombian specific restaurant. Best and more generous happy hour in the area hands down . $8 for good cocktails and appetizers from 4-7pm.(no many places have happy hours at Fridays and after 6) . Clean restrooms, nice ambiance. Be aware that 17% tip is already included in your bill. Parking across the street at Ride Aid parking lot. Great place to watch soccer games at the 2nd floor with comfy seats and a bar.
The vibe and service was fantastic. we sat at the bar and had a great experience. However, the food itself disappointed. I’ve been to On Charcoal (nearby Colombian restaurant) many times and know what to expect for Colombian food. The beef arepas weren’t great. It felt heavy/greasy and hard to eat. We ordered a pionono and while the flavor was ok, also was so heavy. Chicken empanadas were a bust. However, the morcilla (blood sausage) was fantastic and so was the guava mojito. The bartender was fun as he served us agua ardiente. However, I won’t come back here unless it’s to dance when it’s a club. For food will always go to On Charcoal
Atmosphere: 1/1: clean, fun, well lit and well decorated Service: 0.5/1: very welcoming and nice staff, but night was busy and it was taking a while to get our waiter to check up on us . Also they do automatic 18% gratuity (which I don’t believe in, since then you can get low quality service and still have to tip as if service had been adequate ). Price: 0.5/1: This place is not downtown Philly and so we expect prices to reflect this, but many entrees are in the mid $20s and above Food: 1/2: I’m Puerto Rican and my wife is Cuban. We have traveled to Colombia. So we love Latin food and maybe this meant we had high expectations. But our meals were unfortunately not that good. Sweet plantains were dry, meat was dry and chewy. Red beans did not have much taste. Bandeja paisa was average tasting. The flan was hard and did not taste home made. It’s one of the few times we haven’t taken leftovers home. Overall: 3/5: In our opinion it’s expensive for subpar tasting Latin food.
Family dinning out. We love getting together as a family. We work hard and play hard. I had the Columbian sampler chicharron was dripping grease, maduros were cold and white rice was under cooked. My wife had a grilled chicken breast which was good. Perfect grill marks, juicey and seasoned just right. Im lucky I ordered the beef empanadas as a appetizer they saved Q11 me from the hunger I would have had. This place is a neighborhood staple I remember when it was on 6th and Huntingpark right at the corner.
Stopped by driving from New Jersey, this place looks like a fine dining restaurant. While I was waiting for the takeout, I saw people eating pancakes, as I know authentic Colombian restaurants do not serve pancakes, more like arepas for breakfast. They don't even have buñuelos. I ordered a few empanadas and a chorizo just to try it. Witch, I waited forever. Empanadas were good, and the chorizo was tasty. The aji was good. Overall, I think this place was made fancy, probably to charge extra for ambiance. I would rather go to a small, humble Colombians restaurant.
Tuesday night i wanted somethin diff I had a taste for Latin flavors, I remembered the Dominican salmon with creme capers sauce & mash garlic potatoes that I ordered several months ago while dining in with a large party of family celebrating a traditional birthday. I googled, searched Yelp, called 2order pickUp; I left my cell# + name....30mins l8r, my friend picked the foodUp, I reminded him, salmon, mash potatoes and sweet plantains for $22 bucks. I learned a few lessons that night: ALWAYS ✔ ya Order ONSITE...15mins later (at the table) to my dismay, no plantains or mashed potatoes & this Salmon has sweet peppers/onions😵 I called immediately, & was placed on superHOLD, to the point whereas I start putting my clothes back on cause they're closing in an hour. After holding over 20mins & asking for a Mgr, she finally suggested I come in (As IF I Didn't Already packUp everything; Even the medium container of yellow rice & beans) I returned the mgr seemed bothered by annoyance as I asked for a refund. She dryly offered to correct the order🤨. I was skeptical & obviously hungered 🤯I agreed & began to Pray. 20mins later, I came back inside, my food was poorly wrapped in a used plastic bag, she almost implied that I owed 55cents more til I gave her the look of utter Irritation.😶 Another 15mins, back home, the portion was super small, the salmon was dry but the sauce is what saved the entire dish. The mash was bland, the plantains not evenly cooked, the thin pieces were ripe and sauteed to perfection of course the big chunks were starchy, unsweetened & disgusting to chew 😟 Most annoying, Ms Mgr didNot giveUp the beans & rice👎instead of exhibiting any empathy she turns petty & withholds complimentary sides. She didn't offer a desert or a beverage for the wait, miscommunication or gas used to Return. Np, I Will not ride down the Blvd again for this shenanigans
The club looked really nice, the drinks were ok, the staff was nice but the appetizers are too expensive and the presentation is horrible. In the menu says chorizo con papas...I was thinking a different presentation, when I saw i had to laugh because it doesnt even look right. Now the restaurant its good food but its not worth buying an appetizer in the club because they do not put caring into the food..I seen the other appetizers from the other people and it didnt look right neither.
Order the snapper and it was a bit dry, worst of all not fresh. Had an itch reaction that kept me up list of the night. Very disappointed ☹️
I have been a loyal patron of this restaurant for the past six years and have always enjoyed my dining experiences. Unfortunately, my recent visit last week was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival at 10:00 pm, the hostess seated us and then we were completely ignored. The restaurant was less than half full, and though I recognized some staff members, we were not offered water or bread, and no one came to our table to take our order. We waited for over 15 minutes without any service. During this time, we observed the hostess seat other groups of people who received immediate attention from the waitresses. I was shocked by the lack of service and the disparate treatment. I had heard rumors that certain people of color were treated this way, but I didn't want to believe it. Due to this experience, I will not be returning to this restaurant. You have lost a local customer. I will never step foot in this restaurant again.
I use to love this place in 2009-10 and way before that. The food was excellent the service was excellent. It was my go to spot and would eat there atleast twice a week. I ate there about a year ago and the food was bad just thought it was a bad day that happens at restaurants sometimes but went there again and I am extremely disappointed more because I use to love this place and recommend it to everyone. I rather would have eaten some fast food. The food here is way too expensive and horrible. I had something super simple Pechuga a la plancha with tostones the ones in the Picture. It was bad. Don't waste your time there are way better local restaurants with way cheaper prices!
The place is too thigh. The tables to close to each other. The food TERRIBLE. I ORDERED a rice with chicken, it tasted like old rice, cooked the day before. No flavor at all. I don't recommend it!
I ordered the Picanta Especial and it’s a bunch of dried meat thrown in a pile. Not appetizing and barely edible. I heard great things but I am unimpressed and would never buy anything from this restaurant again. They said this was to feed 3 to 5 people. It’s literally meat and a bunch of carbs and not even a complete meal.
I just left the place. I had actually been here before and I liked their food and service. However, today, after a long day of work, I decided to come here to eat. I ordered a soup that was delicious and a bandeja paisa. Everything was fine until I told the waitress that the pork belly (chicharrón) was reheated. Without any effort, she assured me that everything is made at the moment, and we know that the easiest way to detect if something is reheated is the chicharrón. It was all mushy/rubbery and soaked in oil. I honestly tried to find a solution there, but I couldn't even get that. I paid my $50 bill anyway and left. I won't be coming back, and I hope you don't go either. Thank you.
I had a bad experience yesterday at Tierra Columbiana. For starters, the waitress did the bare minimum. Usually, upon being seated, the waitress would take our drink orders and bring the house bread to the table. She did not do so. Instead, after placing both our beverage and lunch order, I had to request the house bread. She slightly rolled her eyes, smirked and said ok. Later, after our meal came out, the sauce that accompanied my meal was served in a takeout container, though I was dining in. Whereas the other party with whom I was eating, received her sauce in the sauce dish that is standard with the meal, even though we both ordered the same meal. When I removed the lid to the sauce container there was a white film sitting on top of the sauce. Any cook knows that white film on red sauce is an indication of mold. When I brought this to the waitress' attention, she wanted to convince me that it was not something in the sauce but "how the sauce is." Ok. So I requested the same sauce in a sauce dish, which it should've come in initially anyway. She again smirked and said ok. When I received the sauce it was clearly evident that the initial sauce in the takeout container was in fact old and spoiled. The new sauce was definitely "brighter" in color, giving evidence that it was fresher. See the photos. I usually don't give reviews and instead will not patronize a place of business if poor service is received. However, this is my second time in recent months eating at Tierra and the service has been sub par and the food mediocre. It is time we hold establishments accountable for less than good service or quality food, especially as paying customers.
From the outside, this restaurant looks beautiful — well-lit with screens that really draw you in. Unfortunately, the inside experience did not match the first impression. The atmosphere was noisy, the rice was undercooked, and the service was slow. Even after raising concerns, nothing was really done to improve the experience. On top of that, the prices were high, and while the tip was already included in the bill, the quality of the food and service didn’t come close to justifying the cost. Overall, what looked promising from the exterior turned into a disappointing visit. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to others.
