If you're a fan of bold flavors and crave a new twist on fried chicken, Ricky's Fried Crispy Spicy Chicken is an absolute must-try. The moment you take a bite, you're greeted with a perfectly crispy coating that adds an irresistible crunch. But the magic really happens with the seasoning—it's a vibrant blend of spices that delivers a spicy kick without overwhelming your taste buds. Each piece is juicy and tender on the inside, creating a delightful contrast with the crispy exterior. This isn’t just fried chicken; it’s an exciting culinary adventure that redefines what fried chicken can be. If you’re ready for a taste explosion, Ricky’s Fried Crispy Spicy Chicken will not disappoint.
Ricky's is the best hot chicken in the area and honestly I liked it more than the Nashville area when I went. I think the price is spot on and the menu is perfect. If you're in the area stop by, they do a great job.
i’ll always love ricky’s but i don’t understand the logic behind the hours at least during ramadan if your target audience is the muslim community (since the food is halal) and i don’t wanna have to order my food then by the time i can break my fast it’s gonna be cold and soggy. great place though
Heard about this from a family member and tried it out today for the first time. Ordered a 12-count chicken nugget w/ side of Mac and cheese & extra sauce. The chicken nuggets were tender meat and the breading wasn’t too hard and not too salty which made it taste AMAZING. Not a fan of the Mac and cheese . Overall, portions were adequate for the price I paid. Service is 10/10 - efficient & nice. Will definitely come back :)
5 stars for the Birds Nest. 🤤 chicken strips were delicious, staff is extremely friendly and gave great recommendations. Very busy little place but worth the wait. I usually love a small hole in the wall but for the amount of people waiting on orders and waiting to order, it was chaos. Seating is extremely limited but sharing tables with strangers is such a good experience. Heat levels on chicken are great, fries are crispy, special sauce is so good and combining all that with coleslaw??? PERFECTION. I can not wait to go back!
To start with, the chicken itself is amazing. These were the largest, juiciest, crispiest wings I’ve ever had. And even though I’d never sampled their chicken before, I opted to go straight for the A-Bomb! It did not. Disappoint! Sweating, tearing up, snot running down my nose, but with a smile from ear to ear. And the value was outstanding. Only $11 for 3 (seriously, biggest I’ve ever had) WHOLE chicken wings, fries (quality crinkle cut with spice powder), and a drink? That’s a great deal no question about it. Do yourself a favor and try them out. BUT. DON’T get the A-Bomb unless you really do like it painfully hot. Not for the weak hearted. Xtra hot will be enough for most. Wish I had remembered to take pics! Also, service was quick and friendly, and while not a posh dining room, it was functional and pretty clean. Overall one hell of a well-run small business!!
Chicken is very flavorful, fries were really delicious. Portion size is great. There are 5 spice levels, and even medium spice level is quite spicy. They have 15% off on Mondays which is nice for students. Seating space is not that comfortable or great for families to have a nice dinner. I hope they have a bigger space, as their Chicken is delicious.
First time tries at Ricky's. Best fried chicken wings in Texas for sure. The staff is very kind and service is super quick. We have 35 people who ordered before us and not a single person mind to wait for 20 minutes. Place was super crowded so there's not a place to sit down to eat. Loved this place. The chicken is so good, and the fries are super crispy with perfection.
Ricky’s Hot Chicken never disappoints! I had their fried chicken sandwich and it was absolutely incredible — crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and bursting with bold southern flavor. The spice level was just right and had me hooked. I loved it so much, I ended up ordering a second one! My friend and I drove all the way from Austin to Dallas just to eat here again after a long time — that’s how much we missed it. Totally worth the drive. I’ve added photos of the menu and my order — if you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out. Ricky’s, please open a location in Austin!
I recently decided to give this restaurant a chance, and I didn't regret it. I tried the two options, low spicy and spicy, and I liked them both. As someone who cares about hygiene, it would be nice if they were a little more attentive to cleanliness. Overall, the food tasted good, the staff was polite and I was satisfied.
I love Ricky's. I'm a weakling that doesn't like super spicy food, but the mild is perfect for me. The staff is always so kind and service is super quick. It can get crowded so there's not always a place to sit down to eat, but I prefer to go anyway. I love this place. The chicken is so good, and the fries are always super crispy. I hate when fries get soggy but these are perfection. Will always be a fan. I just wish they were open every day.
I always get the 12 nuggets 50/50 shake medium with fries and extra come back sauce- always hits the spot. My husband gets the 3 tenders meal, same seasoning, never any complaints. They do get really busy with lines out the door but they're all very efficient. Even as busy as they are, they've never gotten my order wrong. The chicken is always cooked well done and breaded evenly with generous amount of seasoning to coat.
Ricky's Hot Chicken is a solid alternative to Dave's Nashville, and I actually like it better. They've got good mac & cheese, good fries, good chicken--really, they've got good everything. And the fact that it's Halal? That's a big win for me. I prefer the Plano location over any other; it has way more seating and just feels more accommodating overall. But I have to say, the original location has some real drawbacks. The hours are ridiculous--you never know when they'll be open. Sometimes they're closed when they should be open, which makes it hard to plan when to eat there. Plus, the staff can be a bit moody, which doesn't help the experience. Overall, it's a decent chicken spot, but the weird hours and service issues bring it down a bit.
I was shopping in the area and I decided to give Ricky's a go on a whim. First impressions were positive, a large line at 4 P.M., a team freshly frying chicken, and a great buzz in the air. Ricky was at the register and helped me decide my order (3 tenders, hot spiciness). There's not a lot of seating inside, so it's an intimate fit in there, but I managed to get a chair over by the trash can. Once I got the tenders, they were a letdown. The breading was falling off in some parts, the chicken was dry and wasn't particularly hot. Upon telling the staff this and seeing if I could get something else, they immediately got me a fresh order of dark meat and it was a night and day difference. The chicken quarter was fresh out of the fryer and steaming once I bit into it. There was plenty of juice and the chicken skin had a phenomenal crunch to it. Overall, the redo was delicious with great flavor and spice. The fries were also really solid, as they had a great texture and the seasoning mix from the chicken. The spiciness level was just right, as hot is about the level of a habanero, so I'd recommend getting some ranch or comeback sauce to cool down your mouth if you need it. The level of service provided by the staff turned an otherwise disappointing visit into a positive memorable experience. I'm hoping that the tenders were a fluke, as I'd like to give them another shot again, but the chicken quarter is simply divine. Definitely worth the hype if you're in the area.
The food is pretty good. I got the mild for my chicken wings and didn’t really have any flavor to it. It was surprising. The hot on the chicken strips were really flavorful, a bit too much spice for my tastebuds. I definitely I have to go back and try the medium hot, which is probably a perfect balance between the two.
Came in because I’d heard good things and I’m always on the lookout for great chicken. The food was decent; flavorful overall, though the breading on the chicken was a bit soggy. The fried pickles took quite a while and held up my order, but the staff apologized several times and handled it very kindly. The team members were polite, considerate, and clearly cared about their guests, which I appreciated. My main concern was comfort and safety. The restaurant was busy (always a good sign), but several patrons were wearing anti-Israel shirts and kufiyas, and their conversation included comments about Israel and Jews that made me uncomfortable. When my wife called to ask if she should come in, I hesitated and told her not to; she wears a Star of David necklace, and I genuinely wasn’t sure how people in the restaurant would have reacted. I understand that the restaurant can’t control who comes in, but unfortunately, the atmosphere created by some of the clientele made it difficult to feel safe or welcome enough to enjoy the visit.
