Great spot in downtown Palo Alto. It was fairly empty when we got there for lunch on Monday afternoon. The place may seem small but has quite a large seating area available inside. Small outdoor seating is also available. The food was spectacular - as vegetarians we thoroughly enjoyed the variety. The salad was a bit of a miss but lettuce wraps, Burmese pad Thai, and tofu beans were quite sublime.

Some places just become part of your life. Rangoon Ruby is one of those for me. I have been coming here for over ten years, and somewhere along the way I fell in love with Burmese food through this kitchen. What I love most is how the flavors quietly carry influences from so many regions. You can taste hints of Chinese techniques, Indian spices, and Thai-style brightness, all woven together into something that feels completely its own. It is not fusion for the sake of it. It is Burmese cuisine standing confidently on its own. I always end up getting a little tour of flavors when I eat here. The tea leaf salad is still a favorite. Bright, savory, layered, and somehow comforting every time. The basil chili beef and the mint jalapeño chicken never disappoint either. Familiar, bold, and deeply satisfying without being heavy. But what really makes Rangoon Ruby special for me goes beyond the food. We were taking our daughter here from the time she was born. As she grew, it became her favorite place to eat. To this day, she chooses to celebrate her birthday here every single year. Her go to dishes are the veggie kebab, the tea leaf salad, and the pea leaves. One of the things I love most is how many thoughtful and delicious vegetarian options there are, which makes it a place everyone can enjoy. Over time, it stopped feeling like just a restaurant and started feeling like family. From the warmth of the service to the consistency of the food, Rangoon Ruby has been a constant. Friendly, welcoming, and full of heart. Grateful for the meals, the memories, and the many more still to come. ❤️

Tea leaf salad is a must. Good service, ambience and food. Definitely will be coming back with extra room for dessert. One thing to note is that mains were a little salty and maybe the sesame chicken was a little too sweet, but definitely still tasty. Liked the coconut rice!

Absolutely loved my experience at Rangoon Ruby! The food was delicious and the customer service was excellent. The appetizers were flavorful, especially the salt and pepper shrimp—my favorite! Don’t skip dessert—the mango ice cream goes well with all the deserts , a perfect way to ending the night . Highly recommend!

Drinks were great..we ordered Moscow mule which came in a cute metal cup going well with the overall ambience. We ordered Fiery tofu and garlic noodles for the main course. The noodles were a little bland for my taste but were perfect aldante. It came with a sweet spicy sauce which went well with it. The fiery tofu was to die for. It had a distinct basil taste which added to its overall flavor. For the dessert we had the Sooji with mango icecream. I have had sooji dessert all my life but never with a combination of a icecream..the hot sooji and cold icecream combination was a flavor explosion 🔥. Would definitely recommend this place.

Just a normal walk around the neighbourhood here in Belmont. I found this place ordered some burger and fries. I love how it was perfectly cooked and presented. While eating near the window looking at the quite neighbor passing by. It's worth it ,🙏🏻

I mean 10/10 service! Yes, they really make your dining experience special. Food was great (didn’t like the mixed curry that much), tea leaf salad was great! Lettuce wraps were superb. Atmosphere is so nice and you feel you will have a great experience the moment you step in. Hostess was friendly and fun. Coming back for sure.

This was our first try Burmese food and we really enjoyed their taste. We ordered chicken fried rice, eggplant Burmese curry and beef kebat. We loved fried rice and eggplant curry most, kebat taste was on average. Overall quality and quantity both were satisfactory 😊 We went there on Friday night, did reserve our table 2hrs ahead. Parking could be an issue specially during weekends or Friday night but there are a number of public parking places nearby, you just have to be lucky to get a perfect spot! N.B: if you are not used to asian spicy, I’d recommend to try medium spicy because highest one is tough to digest

The food was delicious, great place to order lots of dishes to share. Definitely get the tea leaf salad, authentic taste and super fresh. The samosa soup was delicious, not something you see on the menu everyday but would definitely get it again. The employees were super attentive. Even though the restaurant was busy, we got seated right away. There were about 4 or 5 parties that were celebrating their birthdays. A wonderful place to celebrate with large parties. If you want authentic Burmese cuisine, give Rangoon Ruby a try!

The best Burmese food in town! We had a big party and we ordered varieties of food and dessert to try. My favorites are tea leaves salad, samosa soup, nan-gyi-dok, chicken kebab, and coconut pudding!! Service was top notch even though it was very busy on that day. Would highly recommend this place if you’re looking for good Burmese food!

It's a great spot for Burmese cuisine, especially for dinner. The interiors are cozy, and the outdoor dining area has charming lighting. We ordered lotus chips, samosa soup, jasmine rice, and Burmese eggplant curry. The food was delicious, and the servers were very accommodating.

We were just in time before the kitchen closes at 2.30pm. Got the table by the sidewalk. Loved their screens that block sunlight but doesn’t block fully. We thoroughly enjoyed the pleasant ambience. Coming to what we ordered: Tea Leaf Salad - 👌🏼👌🏼 - It hit the right flavors. Mandatory dish. Samosa Soup - 👌🏼👌🏼- Again something we order in all Burmese restaurants, didn’t disappoint. Go for it. Chicken Noodle Soup - 👌🏼👌🏼 Veggie Kebat - 👍🏼 - First time ordering Kebat, it was okay, may be need to try the meat option, it has to be eaten with rice. Lotus Chips - 👍🏼👍🏼 - They have little to fail. Tasty! Burmese Python - 👌🏼 - Liked this compared to the fresh coconut cocktail. Crazy Coconut - 👍🏼 - It was okay. May be ruined the fresh coconut a little. Also, coconut should be a lot tender to get the best out of it. Ours was super ripe. Service was good too. Waiters were respectful and brought everything on time. Overall great lunch on a Sunday. We will definitely come back any day.

I was here to celebrate one of my friends birthdays. We had reserved earlier and everyone was seated. The door was kept open so it was feeling very cold as our table was close to it. Our server was good and took good care of us based on our orders and also we brought our own cake. All we asked is to bring it after our dining is over. I feel every restaurant should say that they charge just to bring the cake ( which is brought by the customer), outside. Anyhow, after finishing the dinner and cake cutting by ourselves, and we don't know when the bill came it had all kinds of taxes besides the ones we usually see. It disappointed us and we checked on it. Our server disappeared but another person from the staff spoke to their manager and sorted it out for us. Anyhow the food was okay, service was okay but not sure if I am a fan of that restaurant.

This must have been an off day as I went during Thanksgiving, but everything fell just a little short. The tea leaf salad needed more of the fermented tea leaf, the mixing process didn’t feel very special. We liked the lamb curry and coconut rice, but the curry didn’t feel very emulsified, it didn’t have the right consistency. The garlic noodles also were a letdown, the chicken chewy and just lackluster flavors. I expected it to be more oily and way more garlicky, instead it was dry. The house made chili sauce was very spicy, so you’ve been warned. The paratha was excellent and rich and savory with the coconut chicken, probably my favorite dish of them all. I thought the prices were very reasonable.

Went for Saturday lunch at Rangoon Ruby. I started with a chilled Thai beer that paired perfectly with the bold, vibrant flavors of the dishes. The lemon chicken crispy, tangy, and a little more than the right amount of sweet. The prawns were very sweet and I could not finish them. The samosas were golden and packed with flavor. Extremely overpriced compared to the quality and the taste of the food they serve.

Nisan Yevdaev

The restaurant has a nice interior and friendly staff. But, the food is really overpriced for what it is. I had the pad thai (quite bland) and my friends tried the Nan gyi dok, garlic noodles, rangoon noodles, and chicken crisp (rice needs to be ordered separately). Definitely not worth $30 per dish (including tax, tip, mandatory fees).

Kash Arora

The food was alright. We asked to make some of the dishes hot and medium spice but I think the waiter didn’t punch it in because the pad Thai was very sweet with almost zero spice. They gave us a complimentary bowl of rice. The tea leaf salad, however, was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it. Good gluten free options as well!

Going downhill. Used to love their tea leaf salad but it now lacks flavor. Stingy on the dressing, the main part! Service is lacking, didn’t even remember to bring out our main dish, the chili basil fish. Broccoli undercooked. Used to be my fav but it’s definitely lost its luster in the last 3 months (fall 2025)

Ordered pad Thai, egg fried rice and coconut curry chicken. Pad Thai was extremely sweet when it was ordered to be spicy. Egg Fried rice was bland and egg was missing in the rice. Coconut curry chicken was watery and chicken was separately added to the curry. Overall food was bad in taste, too pricey and not recommended.
