If you’re looking for authentic Turkish baklava in San Francisco, Baklavastory is a must-visit ✨ From pistachios to butter, all ingredients come from Antep and Urfa, and Chef Tolgay personally travels to Turkey every year to hand-select the highest-quality products. You can truly taste this care in every bite. The baklava is always fresh, perfectly balanced in sweetness, and never heavy. The moment you walk in, the aroma of real butter welcomes you. Chef Tolgay’s warm smile and hospitality make the whole experience even more memorable. If you’re in San Francisco, you have to try it. One visit and you’ll become a regular 💛 The best baklava in the city!!!!!!!!

Baklava Story Absolutely worth the trip. The baklava is made to order, incredibly fresh, and honestly some of the best I’ve had. You can taste the care in every bite — perfectly flaky, balanced sweetness, and rich flavor. DO NOT get fooled by the humble storefront. The owner was so welcoming and offered us a sample as soon as we walked in, which immediately set the tone. Friendly, kind, and clearly passionate about what they do. If you’re in San Francisco and love baklava, do not miss this place. I promise it’s worth going out of your way for.

The best baklava in the world. Confirmed by Azeri, Turkish, and Israeli friends and anyone I’ve had the chance to gift one of these perfect buttery pillows to. They treat their craft with love here and it shows.

I've been wanting to come check out Baklavastory for a long time and finally got a chance yesterday. Got the walnut baklava. It 100% lives up to the hype. The most delicious baklava I've ever had. Super flaky crust. Not overly sweet. Oozing with perfect chopped walnuts and honey. We finished the small tray in 1 day. Can't wait to go again and get more. The owner is a true artisan. Bakes around the clock to deliver fresh baked baklava to everyone who walks through the door. The love and care that went into these baklava is obvious. Must go try!!

One of the best things I’ve ever eaten, period. Better than the baklava I’ve had in Istanbul, Detroit, Chicago, or anywhere else. I’m not sure I’ll ever have better baklava anywhere else. Super thin, shattering layers, buttery, with a perfect nut filling, every component is perfect. There isn’t a single thing I’d change. I randomly found this place and I was able to buy a tray of walnut, but pistachio was sold out. The employee said ordering ahead of time is your best bet. Seemed expensive before sampling. I never knew baklava could be this good. The quality absolutely justifies the price. 12 pieces for $25.

Wow, the baklava here is amazing. It’s fluffy and crispy and gooey without being overly sweet. It also smells fantastic. Came here because a Turkish friend recommended it to us.

This is a production facility dedicated exclusively to pre-order pickups. The owner is a true perfectionist, obsessed with precision, quality, and clinical cleanliness. In reality, this is an open science lab where food is prepared with surgical accuracy and genuine love. Visitors can observe the process: sheets of silky, paper-thin dough layered with care, fillings placed with exactitude, and trays baked in state-of-the-art controlled ovens. Even the syrup is measured to the milligram on digital scales. Throughout it all, the team is happy to smile and pose for your selfies. The "pickup only" model exists because the owner is adamant that you receive the product at the absolute peak of freshness. He doesn’t just ask—he practically commands—that you never store his baklava in the fridge. He treats the preservation of his craft so seriously you might expect a written contract or a mandatory course before you’re deemed "worthy" of his desserts. He will tell you exactly how many days it stays fresh: No freezing. No refrigeration. Just share it with those you love. In fact, his golden rule is simple: never share a slice of baklava with someone you don't love. Approach the counter without hesitation; you will be greeted with an infectious smile, a sample, and precise instructions on how to experience it. The technique: Turn the piece upside down, sink your teeth in, and let the crisp flakes fall onto your tongue like snowflakes onto a leaf. As your taste buds awaken to the buttery, sweet, lingering sensation, hold onto the railing—it’s that good. By now, you have been entrusted with a tray. If it has cooled to optimal levels, it will be wrapped for you. However, if you arrive while it is still warm, you are strictly instructed to keep it ventilated. Do not leave it in a car with the windows up; the humidity will compromise the structural integrity of the flakiness. I have seen the best of the best, and this ranks among them. Become part of the narrative at Baklavastory. Learn, love, and be merry. Baklavastory. Freshly made with love.

Walking into Baklava Story felt like stepping straight into Gaziantep. The taste, the aroma, the texture everything was exactly as I remember from my childhood. One bite and I was instantly transported back home. The baklava is perfectly balanced, rich but not overly sweet, incredibly fresh, with that authentic pistachio flavor that is so hard to find outside Turkey. Beyond the amazing desserts, the place itself is spotless and beautifully organized. You can tell they care about quality and presentation as much as they care about taste. The staff is warm, friendly, and genuinely passionate about what they do. San Francisco has many dessert spots, but Baklava Story is in a different league. If you want real, authentic Turkish baklava made the right way, this is the place. I will definitely be coming back again and again. Highly recommended.

I recently tried the baklava from BaklavaStory, and it was absolutely amazing! You can really taste the quality of the ingredients in every bite. Each piece is perfectly flaky, and the flavors are just outstanding. I highly recommend it for anyone who appreciates top-notch ingredients and authentic baklava.

If you want to experience 5-star Michelin level dessert cuisine, without having to visit the restaurant, visit here. Turkish style baklava made fresh daily from scratch on location (from rolling the phyllo to cracking the walnuts), to order. Tolgay, the owner, spent 4 years studying the master chefs and sourcing his own pistachios from Turkiye. Stop over, enjoy a free sample, and decide for yourself. As past president of the Ataturk Society of America, and past treasurer of the Assembly of Turkish American Associations, I have enjoyed many a baklava across the USA and Turkiye, and can say this is the best!! They sell their premium gourmet treats by they tray (4 sizes), and if you are hosting a dinner or party it is definitely a cost effective dessert. They sell by phone orders and they sell out every day!! Kudos to the Baklavastory team!!

As a foodie, discovering places like this one is one of the ultimate rewarding experiences. Tolgay is an artist. He deeply cares about his work behind Baklava story and you see it. This is the hands down best Baklava I have had in the world. For many years, I was in the search for best Baklava and it ended here in San Francisco (also glad that I will be moving here soon) - believe me - I have searched around a lot including having shipped Baklava from shops in Turkey to the US and nothing comes close to the warm freshly made baklava I have had here. The Baklavas are freshly baked to order, you hear the timers go off when you are in the store and that’s a sign of fresh batch coming out. Baklavas are crisp, perfectly sweet (not less not more). I have recommended this place to a lot of people. Do give it a try! Thanks for all the work you guys do at Baklava Story!

Baklava done absolutely right — and the people make it even better This place seems to make one thing — baklava — and holy shit, they do it perfectly. Flaky, buttery, perfectly balanced sweetness, and when you get it warm? Unreal. It literally melts in your mouth. This is the kind of baklava that ruins you for all other baklava. But honestly? As good as the dessert is, the people who work here are just as impressive. Hands down some of the best customer service I’ve experienced in a long time — warm, genuine, welcoming, and clearly proud of what they’re making. I don’t say this lightly: it’s the best customer service I’ve seen since The Green Cross. That kind of care, attention, and human connection is rare, and it shows. Come for the baklava. Come back because of the people. Five stars all day.

The best baklava in town, it’s even better than the one in Turkey. I like the pistachio baklava and you need to call them ahead to place your order. Great service and great baklava, it is light and not too sweet. Highly recommended

This is hands the best baklava I have ever had in the US!!! Just got back from Istanbul and this is even better and more fresh than anything in Istambul. 100% worth coming here I would suggest calling and putting in your order before coming. They only sell boxes to go and not individually

Hole in the wall place but best baklava I’ve had. They handed it to us literally right out of the oven, so you’ll get something fresh no matter what time you come. They give you generous sample sizes because they know you’ll love it. Besides the food, there’s a great story to this place, with the owner (who is very down to earth btw) having studied how to make the best baklava for years. This store is the embodiment of what Bruce Lee said: “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times”

OMG….. this place is so delicious. Hole in the wall delightfulness. Our Uber driver told us about this place and WOW I’m so glad we stopped by… the owner and his staff were so friendly. We bought 2 trays to give as gifts, fresh right out of the over. What a hit !!! The owner needs to open more locations, please come to Orange County.

As a Turk, I’ve tried baklava everywhere I could find it in the US, and this place truly stands out. It's even better than many places back in Turkey. The quality and flavor are exceptional. Everything is freshly made daily, even hourly. I honestly don’t like coming here because it completely ruins my diet. I just hope they never compromise on the freshness and taste. Love that place!!

Absolutely delicious! The baklava from Baklavastory is by far the best I’ve had outside of Turkey. Perfectly flaky layers, just the right amount of sweetness, and a rich, nutty flavor that melts in your mouth. You can tell it’s made with love and tradition. Highly recommend!

Run do not walk to this place! When I say this is hands-down, one of the best things I have ever eaten, I mean it this baklava is light as air with the perfect touch of sweetness and crunch from which ever nut you choose, which they had a selection of walnut and pistachio. My friend and I are sitting and devouring the whole tray and I don’t feel guilty about it at all because literally literally this is the best baklava actually, the best dessert I have ever had! The customer service is on another level two I came in and my friend waited outside since she had a big stroller and without me saying anything the man at the front went out and gave her a piece to try as well. Such an inviting little place. Lastly, this is truly so good. I literally called to tell them it made my day. Please support this business and their delicious treats

As soon as you walk-in, they have a sample of fresh baklava ready for you. Hard to say no to delicious, flakey and most importantly, not too sweet baklava. They sell pistachio or walnut, by the tray only (12 pieces). I actually preferred the walnut, but didn’t have time to wait. Almost ate the whole tray the first day. Without a doubt, the best in SF.

This is hands down the best and most authentic baklava I’ve ever had! It’s fresh, perfectly balanced in sweetness, and absolutely delicious. Both flavors were incredible—I’m still thinking about them until today! The staff was super friendly and accommodating. He taught me and my wife how to eat it up side down! They even offered us a free taste, which made the experience even more special. If you’re looking for high-quality baklava in San Francisco, this is the place to go. Highly recommended!

There was no sign and no parking space, so I parked at Best Buy and ran over. The neighborhood felt really scary. Anyway, they gave me a sample to try, and it was truly crispy on the outside and soft inside, but way too sweet. If they reduced the sweetness just a little, it would be really delicious.

Terrible customer service. The Turkish chef is incredibly arrogant for no reason and a blatant liar. He claims his ingredients are from Turkey, but I saw him unloading local products for his shop. I don't know why he lies. There aren't even chairs to wait on while your order is being delivered. They tell you a delivery time, but it arrives 30 minutes late. I've even seen mice running around inside. I think they should fix that because it's unhygienic, and he speaks very rudely to his employees. I'm sharing my experience at Baklava Story.
