Cholita linda Alameda Reviews
Always love this place, from the tacos to the sandwiches! Tried the salad recommended by a friend and it was delicious and filling :) Would recommend trying the yucca fries too!
A nice place with a very nice warm vibe. Tasty food. Fish tacos and the fried chicken plate were good. The specials chicken sandwich was superb
AMAZING flavors in both the sandwiches and tacos we tried. Asado & Papito sandwiches by far the favorite. Yuca root fries were very unique! Cute inside and comfortable ambiance. Bright colors and an assortment of large and small tables with good, natural lighting. Customer service was friendly, but not over the top...just average, no smiles. How they're treated well by management. One note is that online ordering is the only way for takeout orders -- tough if never been there before, so we had to go in to see it better. Another note: parking is tough. We walked a few blocks, so bad no issues.
They have an amazing Cubano sandwich & great hot sauce to go with it , get it without the aioli , it doesn't need it at all
Been wanting to try this place and I am glad I did . They have the best Cubano sandwich I’ve had . The pulled pork was juicy and soft . The bread was toasted perfectly. Staff was friendly . You pay at the cashier then server will bring it to your table . Will be back to try their baja fish tacos .
I love their Cuban sandwiches. They always hit the spot. I normally get the Asado or Lechon. I add a nice and crispy fish taco to my meal. I finish it off with one of their refreshing aguas frescas. It’s so good. Love eating here.
Quite similar experience as the original Oakland Cholita Linda, loved it. We had the steak sandwich and Fish plate with rice & beans. Both were delicious and ample in quantity. Don’t forget - the Mango 🥭 Agua Fresca is a MUST try!
Loved the vibe, location, music, and food was good. The tostones were different than what I am use to. Normally I eat tostones with a mango salsa but they had Picodillo on top, I personally wasn’t a fan of this. The guacamole and chips were good, white rice was good, black beans were good, and plátanos. I just wasn’t a fan of the Picodillo, I wouldn’t get this dish again. Great music and beautiful atmosphere. The frescas aquas were amazing! Would highly recommend!
came on the Sunday afternoon! it was a surprisingly popular spot to eat; although I passed the restaurant many times on park street, I never went inside before. you order at the register, sit down wherever you please, and wait for your food to be served to you. I love the interior design where it seems like you're sitting and eating outdoors (my boyfriend said it was the Las Vegas style). I got a tofu taco which tasted mostly of tofu and my boyfriend got the asada sandwich which was heavenly! We also got guac and chips which were not too salty or overly seasoned which I liked. it made me feel fresh and healthy, but for those who like saltier or heavier dishes, it might taste too plain. it was a nice restaurant all in all!
At the front counter, we ordered the Cubano Sandwich, Picadillo Plate, 2 Kids Quesadillas, and a Papito Sandwich. There's a degree of self-serve involved. The food was very good. It feels like a small Latin town inside with the colorful walls, balconies, and overall decor. It was a good experience.
I love this place! You order at the register then sit down and you get an electric buzzer. You do bus your own table at the end. I love the fish tacos so much I haven't really gotten to try the rest of the menu. I have no complaints! Fish tacos and a margarita and I've got a big smile on my face!!! Def give this place a try.

The best fish Taco place. Yummy prep with good seasoning. The fish salad was the best blend of veg with sea food . French fry crispy.
I did a pickup. we eat Meghan good regularly, not new to Latin American food. but evening was excellent. fresh and tasty. like us, is there new to this food, doing forget to order plantains. fish was fresh, just-enough fried and didn't smell. ambience was excellent and interesting. inside walls are decorated as if they are the exterior of houses on a street, very cool. would certainly visit again.

Food is ok, the chicken rice plantain plate was very good, tacos were a bit anaemic. The sweet potato fries were soggy unfortunately. This is a place that asks for a tip after ordering when in reality you sit down at a restaurant that makes you order at a counter then get your own water and clean up after yourself. $44 for 2 people for all the food and 1 drink pictured including tax + tip.
A very cute place inside, but whilst ordering they were out of many items stating they didn't have it and when asked about beers, they only listed 2 of the ones listed on the menu and none of the cocktails. Limited seating so we had to grab the first place to sit and it was the window counter which was mighty uncomfortable seating. The food that I did get was the asado sandwich which was delicious and the Strawberry agua fresca which was also great. My son got the carnitas tacos and according to him they were spicy which I don't believe was advertised.
Very relaxed atmosphere and we really enjoyed our sandwhich. It was very tasty. A little bit on the oily side, but was good! The fish taco was a bit basic, but maybe that is the point. I found it a bit lacking in taste. Highly recommend the sandwhiches! Nice location in a busy street in Alameda. Worth a visit!
Our favorite here would be the Yuca fries with Aji Amarillo. If you like any kind of fried food, it’s worth trying out some. We’ll go back again for them :). For our mains we liked the fried fish over the fried chicken. The chicken was a tad bit chewy to our liking. Fries and fish made a good meal for us.
We love Cholita Linda, been fans of theirs since their farmers market stall days. So happy to see them here in Alameda although the Temescal location isn't that far a jaunt. **Updated during Pandemic times: Cholita Linda has become a monthly rotation in our takeout since I became overwhelmed cooking all meals, ALL THE TIME during the pandemic. Their fish tacos are where it's at, although everything we've ordered here has been a hit. Fried with a satisfyingly crunchy exterior, the inside is nicely seasoned and never fishy tasting. If I'm trying to fool myself with a healthier option I order the salad with fish- but I'm not fooling anyone! Crisp, chilled mixed greens. shredded cabbage, and vibrant radish slices comes topped with crushed tortilla strips, perfectly seasoned and cooked black beans, drizzled with rich crema, and OH- A GENEROUS PORTION OF THEIR FAMOUS FRIED FISH. Make sure you order a side of tortillas to assemble your own fish tacos and their house-made hot sauce, whatever you get. It's a nice blend of heat, vinegar, and spices that perks up and accents their food nicely. The tostones con picadillo is a better deal than the picadillo plate as the quantity in the latter is a bit paltry. The agua frescas are not too sweet (our favorites are the blackberry strawberry, or strawberry mango) and the house sangria is a nice blend of fruit and wine- we have yet to try their maizena de coco for dessert, but I'm sure it's tasty just like the rest of their menu!
Incredible authentic Mexican food. I got a Baja fish taco and carnitas taco, kids got their cheese quesadilla, and my wife got the pollo plate. All were filled with flavorful ingredients and delivered without breaking the bank.

I’ve visited the original Cholita Linda location in Temescal a few times now over the years and really enjoyed their food. This restaurant is another location of theirs in Alameda which was more convenient on my trip so I stopped by. Food wise everything tasted delicious just as I remember. I’ve tried all the tacos over the years but the Baja Fish is my favorite and now just order multiple of them when I visit. The fish is super fresh and pairs nicely with their housemade crema and salsa. Make sure to top it off with a bit of the orange hot sauce. On this visit, the Alameda location service was a bit slow despite there not being too many customers. I’ll probably stick to the Temescal location, but definitely be back for their tacos!

Tasty food! Perfect plantains, good guacamole and crispy chips! Always quite lively and friendly staff.
Last Sunday I ordered some food to go from Cholita Linda in Alameda. I've eaten at the Oakland location years ago and it was really good. The tacos I ordered at the Alameda location weren't good at all! I ordered the chicken, Carne asada and carnitas taco. The chicken didn't even taste like chicken. It just tasted like very bland mystery meat. It had no flavor! The Carne asada tasted old and chewy. The carnitas tasted old and lacked flavor. The salsa on all 3 tacos was way too hot! It was so spicy and hot that I couldn't even tell what type of meat/protein I was eating. I can handle hot spicy food but this was way too much. My tongue and lips were on fire! Not cool! Literally! On the other hand, the Lechon sandwich was delicious! The pulled pork shoulder was very tender and flavorful, the sweet potatoes, salsa and garlic aioli all blended very well together. The French bread was toasted and tasted fresh. I've tried all of their sandwiches and the Lechon is by far the best! I highly recommend the Lechon sandwich. I do not recommend any of the 3 tacos I ordered above. They were terrible!
