Hippie Thai Street Food Alameda Reviews
The service was great and the atmosphere was calm and inviting. The food above all else was the best part. You could tell the produce in your food was fresh and everything was cooked beautifully. My meal was filling and I didn't even finish it. ❤️
Hippie Thai had a very cozy atmosphere the two times I’ve been here. The servers are very polite and organized. I recommend the pork fried rice and crispy chicken over fried rice. The portion was huge and satisfied us for the price we paid! Also, the inside is so pretty🙂🙂We’ll be coming by again soon :)
Hippie Thai on Haight Street offers a vibrant and laid-back atmosphere that blends the charm of San Francisco’s eclectic culture with authentic Thai flavors. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted with a cozy vibe—think colorful decor and funky touches that give the place a relaxed, almost bohemian feel, in tune with the neighborhood’s spirit. The menu at Hippie Thai is a treat for both adventurous eaters and those craving comfort. They serve a variety of classic Thai dishes, from tangy Pad Thai and spicy Green Curry to flavorful Som Tum (green papaya salad) and hearty Tom Yum soup. Every dish is packed with bold, aromatic flavors that make it clear they use fresh ingredients and traditional spices. The balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy is spot-on, especially in dishes like the Pad See Ew and Massaman Curry, which are rich and satisfying without being overpowering. The service is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. While the portions can be a bit on the smaller side for the price, the quality of the food makes up for it. It’s also great for those looking for vegan or vegetarian options—many dishes can be customized to fit dietary preferences. Overall, Hippie Thai provides a flavorful journey through Thailand’s culinary landscape, all within the relaxed, quirky vibe of Haight Street. Whether you’re looking for a casual lunch or a fun dinner outing, this spot is definitely worth checking out for those craving authentic Thai food with a bit of local flair.
Have been here a few times and am always happy with it. The curry dishes are all good, the stir fry dishes are very flavorful. Highly recommend the papaya salad and Pad Prik Khing. Service is friendly and fast, and the price is just right.
The food here is so good we were tempted to only eat here during our trip! Lots of gluten free options and quick service.
Hippie Special was AMAZING. Look at how crispy that fish is! Asked for no squid/octopus on mine. Also, mangos are in season, and their mango sticky rice was very good, perfectly sweet mango. My friend ordered tea, the pot it arrived in was beautiful. No frills place, and it was a cold day w the door opening. But for that food, it’s worth it.
Gets better everytime. This time I ordered the flat rice noodle soup with duck and it was perfect! First I thought I wasn't going to finish that huge bowl, but it was so good that I did. Effortlessly.
Haven't been able to get the Massaman Curry out of my head for almost a year 🧎✨

I come here all the time bringing along my friends and the food is always on point, authentic, creative, and importantly: rare! As a Thai person, I can tell you that Hippie Thai has a large variety of authentic menu items and specials that you can’t find anywhere else in the city. Everything about this place brings me back to Thailand- the food, the interior, and the staff. Next time you come here don’t just order a pad thai or fried rice like you would anywhere else, try something new, ask the lovely staff for recommendations and I assure you that you’ll be delighted just like I am every time I dine here.
Very delicious! They were very nice. They have a good amount of vegetarian and vegan options
Great Thai food! Came and got fresh spring rolls, cucumber salad and pad Thai. The server was so helpful and attentive. I order Pad See Mao which we asked for no spice. But it ended up being more than we could bear (part of the dish) and they allowed us to replace it! Highly recommend you visit

Tried their pad se ew a buncha times now. Always very consistent. Hands down the best noodle dish ive had. Tops the list

Their Pad Thai and Green Curry were great but the spring rolls could’ve been better. Pretty bland for $11 but the service was great and food came out fast.
Nice little spot for a bite. Love the atmosphere and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my meal, but the texture of the chicken in the fried rice my wife had was a bit off. Other than that, very tasty. The spices at each table are fiery and very good. Would recommend!
Lovely rice, would recommend getting it with chicken or tofu instead. The mango sticky rice and the drinks were great. Great atmosphere and great service.
Not your typical Thai, a casual outpost serving a wide selection of noodle soups as well as made-to-specification curries, tom kha / tom yum, and stir-fries. Su Kho Thai Pork Belly Soup, choice of rice noodle served in herbaceous (almost medicinal) broth, loaded with ground pork and crispy fried pork belly, topped with fried wonton skin. Decent pitstop for flavors Southeast Asian when walking along Haight.

Expensive, overpriced, but decent food. Costumer service was alright, could not tell if the waiter was mad at me or just trying to be friendly but failing. The food took around 17 minutes to come. I got the pad thai. The noodles were flavorful and juicy. Texture was nice and moist. The chicken was under flavored and dry. Overall decent pad Thai, but way to expensive for the quality that they are serving

The food was okay not the best in SF. There are better Thai restaurants than this one in sf. There was only one server not the best service. It was an experience but definitely not coming back. You must purchase one entree for each person
Food was good but server was extremely arrogant! We told her our friend is pregnant so we want to sit at the corner table since it has cushion for seating. She made face and literally threw our menus at the table! After this when we went to ask her question she gave us very rude reply. Will never go again!
Update: restaurant barely 1/2 full. I sat down to eat at a two top. Waitress insisted I sit in the corner by the kitchen and bathroom. She would rather I leave and not come back then eat there again. The chicken Pad Thai is my favorite. Tasty and a shareable portion.
I never ever have felt the need to write a review until today Thai food is one of my favorite foods and I get it all the time this was my first time here my rice was over cooked at the bottom and my pork tasted rotten , also the egg I had was green on the bottom stuff was not fresh at all .My boyfriend got some chicken and rice, chicken was way over cooked and also the rice was overdone like mine we both in total ate about two bites. We did still leave tip cause they were kind and service was good but food was 0 out of ten . Very unhappy for 46 dollars
Poor , Tom Kha soup is just boiling mushrooms and chicken pieces. The youngest waiter is rude, forgets even do she is writing it down, so I left not satisfied. THEY DONT CARE IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT IT’s TURIST AREA .

Disappointing experience - been here many times over the years but got bad food poisoning / nausea from the pad see ew last week. Reached out to store member to contact the owner for my complaint and left my contact, but did not hear back.
