Java Beach Cafe Alameda Reviews
The staff is always friendly, the food’s delicious, and my lattes are always perfect. The pesto veggie bagel is delicious, and their PB&J bagel hits every time. Between getting to work on time or getting Java Beach, it’s Java Beach every single time. 🫶🏼
Beloved local gathering space and coffeeshop! This Irish-owned establishment has delicious berry soda bread they bake daily. An amazing spot right next to the beach, they also feature the tastiest soft serve in the Outer Sunset which is a must on our few hot beach days (made with local Straus milk!) I frequently breakfast here and my go-to's are the inimitable bacon egg breakfast burrito, the classic Salmon Sunrise (bagel with cream cheese and lox), and of course the latte which is lovely and creamy and has a nice (coffee) bite to it! They use Lady Falcon coffee which is great Outer Sunset coffee roasters as well. Some Sundays Java Beach has local bands playing, usually jazz, and they always choose really good musicians whose music elevates the vibe excellently. There is a lovely outdoor parklet, and across the street the center divide has been turned into a beautiful public park by the owners of the cafe. Delightful!
Berry soda bread was fluffy and not overly sweet....never seen soda bread at a coffee shop before so that was a nice treat. Americano was good and strong. Bathroom was clean. Staff and environment was pleasant. Location fantastic.
I've gotten some excellent pastries here: parmesan muffin and pumpkin bread with frosting. My friend raved about his sandwich. The service is friendly and the location is amazing across a narrow street from an island with plantings and paths right near the beach, public restrooms if the cafe is busy, and at the end of the N streetcar. Pleasant outdoor seating has always been available for our medium-sized group in the early afternoon on a Friday.
I love this cafe, so much! The drinks and food are tasty, the people who work here are great about caring for people with food allergies and intolerances, and the location is fantastic! I highly recommend them!
I love this place, best butterscotch latte ever. I have to stop here every time I'm in the area. Friendly employees and great service. Beach and park across the way to enjoy after you leave.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Java Beach Café – San Francisco (Sunset District) Java Beach isn’t just a coffee house — it’s a community. This quaint, long-established spot has been part of my life since the early 2000s, and I’m so glad to have found my way back. It’s vibrant, welcoming, and full of genuine people who make every visit special. The bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast burrito is hands-down my favorite — #1 tier in my book. The coffee is always hot, dark, and perfectly brewed. A big shout-out to Michelle, Tiffany, Dylan, Fiona, and the rest of the crew — some just starting out, all of them eager, kind, and attentive. Their friendly energy makes this place what it is. If you’re anywhere near the Sunset District, do yourself a favor — stop in for a burrito and a cup of coffee. You’ll feel right at home. ☕🌯❤️
Love this place so much! Discovered during my trip to SF, was close to my hotel. Friendly staff & delicious food. Their chai latte and smoked salmon breakfast bagels are my favorite. Close to the beach if you want to take a nice relaxing stroll after having a quick bite. Outdoor seating available but the atmosphere inside is great too. Highly recommend. *edited to add it's right beside the cable car stop
A good place to go before or after time on the beach. Pricey but tasty broccoli cheddar soup. (Good hot but not scolding hot temperature and nice bread that comes with it. Generous with the bread as well. ) Loved the artistic charming paper coffee cups. Will definitely come back and already enjoyed my experience at another Java Beach Cafe location the last time I was in San Francisco. Would really like to try next the Cesar salad with chicken.
We loved this place. Right in the beach, super fun cool vibes inside. They have an amazing assortment of breakfast pastries, breakfast burritos and of course, coffee! They use biodegradable cups and things so that's amazing. The staff was friendly and kind. The location was perfect. This will be a stop every time we go back to San Francisco. They have inside and outside seating and the line wait wasn't too long. Maybe about 10 minutes for us.
Nice beachfront coffee shop with a casual vibe and tons of outdoor seating, well positioned for great people watching. Large selection of beverages, including many options for coffees and teas. Good selection of food options for breakfast or lunch, including tasty breakfast burritos. Quite busy on nice weekend days with a constant line.

On a cool rainy morning a man wanted a warm cup of coffee. This location was close to where I stayed. The coffee was great. The chick that took my order was cute. The atmosphere was cozy.
Perfect beach cafe to enjoy a good sandwich & coffee while enjoying a perfect CA sunny day. Highly recommend!

The breakfast burrito and irish soda bread are delicious. Sadly they stopped offering the cream soda. The service could be more polite and organized, we had to ask for one of items which was missed and then for the sides which they forgot.
Stopped in for lunch on a beautiful San Francisco day in December. I order the BLT and a bagel for my son but since they were out I was recommended toast and that was the perfect suggestion.
This is a cute and bustling cafe. We parked at the beach parking lot and walk over (5-6 mins walk) Service is quick. They offer a wide range of coffee drinks, pastries, and sandwiches. All are decent. They offer agave syrup or honey to adjust sweetness to your liking. Restroom is a bit unattended (minus one star) There are a lot of tables but they get filled up. You need to act quick when someone stand up 😅 I like the vibe and how easy we can just walk across to the beach. Will definitely visit again.
Friendly staff with a 25 minute wait (which we were notified of after we ordered) on a Saturday morning. For two, we shared the Bonfire Delight roast beef sandwich with avo added and a bowl of tomato garlic soup. Both were delicious and we will go back. One star off because we weren’t notified before paying of the wait and would have likely gone to a different place.

Great place to grab a sandwich or coffee. It's always crowded and parking can be difficult, but it's worth it. Good portions and quality food.
What a delightful neighborhood go to! We had great coffee, food and service. Watching the staff welcome their regulars warmed our hearts. Loved the coffee and the the breakfast sandwiches.

Nice sized cafe right at the end/start of the N Muni line. Closest cafe to Ocean Beach (you literally just have to cross the street). It has a nice beachy vibe to it, in tones of light wood. It does get busy, especially on weekends. So keep that in mind if you are counting with a sit. Tried their Hibiscus Tea, it was good! Decent Macha Latte as well. Not the most expensive cafe I have been to.

Java Beach is a convenient stop if you’re just looking for a coffee, but I don’t recommend ordering food here. I’ve tried multiple times to have a successful meal and it’s never worked out, so I’ve officially given up. The kitchen always seems chaotic, and if you order more than one item, something will almost certainly be missed. You’ll end up asking multiple employees to check on it before anyone actually does, only to find out the item was never started. The food is overpriced and underwhelming, and not worth the time or frustration. Stick to coffee, which is decent enough, and enjoy the convenient location, but save your appetite for somewhere else
I used to love this place back in the day. Huge sandwiches, great ambiance. Now...the same Kelly's Cove I used to love is a sad, anemic shell of itself. They removed the avocado. Barely any turkey.…
This was one of the places that I first visited when I moved to the city many years ago. It was nice and refreshing then. It’s now tired, old. I initially intended to do some work and study, but there was so much frustration built up from waiting for my order, that I took my coffee and pastry and left, never to return.
Disappointed with my visit to Java Beach Cafe. The breakfast burritos tasted like they were microwaved and lacked any real flavor. The latte was more like a glass of warm milk—no espresso kick at all. Pastries tasted old and stale, definitely not fresh. To top it off, everything was overpriced for the quality.
