Jay's Grill Alameda Reviews
Great discovery!! Went on a Thursday night after a show at the Orpheum (two blocks away) around 9:45pm. Would be a great option after the Opera, Ballet and Symphony shows nearby. We had two smoothies: strawberry mango and strawberry banana, both delicious. We also got the Blue Cheese burger to share that comes with fig jam and a decent side of fries. The burger was so tasty and flavorful. Food was so good that we devoured it without taking any pictures but now we have the perfect excuse to go back. The place is clean, spacious and well kept. In addition, Jay was at the counter and he was very nice and kind to explain the multiple food options. Really looking forward to be back soon!
I had the shawarma and it was absolutely delicious, but the real test was that everyone in my group ordered something different and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. So delicious! The environment is also really clean and comfortable, making it a great place to enjoy a bite. Thanks, Jay! Looking forward to checking out your breakfast spot next!! 😊
We came here yesterday before Dream State, and it was absolutely amazing. The guy behind the counter was so sweet and had a moment with some locals who recently moved near by. Soup came out first, and I had to remind myself to slow down cause then this beauty came out. Garlic sauce is to die for. I have braces, so I couldn’t dig into the pita the way i wanted to. It was so delicious, and the tabbouleh was soooo good i will be trying to replicate it but likely won’t duplicate that sort of wizardry. Stop by here especially if you’re going to the graham after. Prices were really good too
I’ve been a fan of Jay’s Grill since they opened earlier this year. When I had an event to provide food for, I wanted to share this with my community. The owner went out of his way to cater for our event by making a delicious menu that everyone loved and couldn’t say enough about! I’m glad he has so many vegan options too and my favorite vegan smoothie - chai berry cardamom! Ask Jay’s Grill to cater your holiday from 40 to 400!! Glad we have such a good place in the neighborhood.
Was looking for a place to grab a quick dinner. Pleasantly surprised by the combination of great food quality and quantity. Highly recommend the beef kebab skewers. The guy who was taking and serving orders was super chill (you might get your chops busted but it's all in good fun).
Jay's Grill is an absolute gem in San Francisco! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere. The food was outstanding - fresh, flavorful, and prepared to perfection. Every dish we ordered exceeded our expectations, and the portions were generous. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients and the care put into each meal. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. The service was prompt without feeling rushed. The location on Market Street is convenient, and the restaurant itself has a great vibe - perfect for a casual meal or a nice dinner out. I highly recommend Jay's Grill to anyone looking for delicious food and excellent service in San Francisco. We'll definitely be back!
So happy this spot opened in the neighborhood. I work nearby and go to the gym right across the street, I have come by every day for either lunch or dinner when I’m in the area. Food is excellent and super reasonably priced for the City. And to top it off the customer service is always amazing - the hospitality is genuine. Great for take-out or dining in.
Best food ever for sure I will come back again delicious Food Falafel and grilled food and hummus is wow
I recently ordered the meal for six from Jay’s Grill, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! Every dish was packed with incredible flavors, and the portions were generous enough to leave everyone satisfied. From the appetizers to the main courses, each item was freshly prepared, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious. What makes Jay’s Grill even more special is that it’s family-owned. You can truly feel the love and care they put into their food and service, creating an experience that feels warm and welcoming. I highly recommend Jay’s Grill to anyone looking for exceptional food made with heart. I can’t wait to go back and try more from their menu. Thank you, Jay’s Grill!!
Excellent gyro place. The chicken kebabs are really good. Juicy and tasty. The big surprise for me was the falafel. I’m usually not a big fan but this one was amazing — crispy on the outside and moist inside. I would eat alotttt more of it. Good portion size too! Would recommend for a quick bite. Apologies for not taking proper photos before eating… 😬
Great food friendly staff! The owner personally came over to make sure we were satisfied with our food and staff would periodically check on us to make sure things were good—very attentive! They’re super new only opened within the last month I would def give them a try! Also their avocado spinach cucumber smoothie is so creamy and it’s vegan!!

Amazing ginger peach pear smoothie. Great chicken kebab and hummus and rice. Convenient location right on Market. Was there during pride weekend, very friendly welcoming owner, will come back next time I am in the neighborhood! Delicious!
Delicious food, great portions, friendly staff — Jay’s Grill is a must-try spot in San Francisco. Highly recommend!
Why does this place feel like a hidden gem? Absolutely phenomenal comfort food, the lentils soup made my day in a cold windy afternoon in SF. Discovered this place by mistake, coming back for sure Legit chicken shawarma, legit chicken kebabs, great service
Amazing and delicious! The owner is very welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend and return! We got the side of lamb chops, the Kabobs in a meal with lentil soup, and a spring side salad. The rice portions were generous. Everything was fresh and the authentic flavors and quality were stellar! The only reason I gave 4 stars for atmosphere was due to renovations in the back half bathroom area. Thank you so much for a fine dining experience!!
Firstly, the diversity of the menu without being overwhelming is impressive. They have a variety of things on the menu from burgers, fried chicken, kabobs, shawarma and it all looks good We had the cream of chicken plate and chefs fav burger Chicken: a delicious chicken katsu like fried chicken w rice bread hummus and salad came w soup too all for 18$ (very affordable for sf) and it was delicious. Never had fried chicken w a Mediterranean twist like that Burger: also delicious had goat cheese and jalapeno, burger was juicy and cheese was not overwhelming. A very tasteful kick and blast of flavor in every layer of the burger. Fries were also crispy and flavorful. Burger WITH fries was 14$ All in all, friendly staff willing to walk me through the menu, delicious food, and affordable prices Easiest 5 star review
Come here at least once a week to get the most authentic shawarma in town. The staff are gems, very friendly and have great recs. The chicken cream chop is my current go to, but the shawarma bowls are great and of large portion.
This was a great stop for some good grub. The staff is friendly and hustling around. Food took a while to get but there were only two guys working and they were busting with efficiency. Food was hot and good, even my pickiest eater ate her while wrap and raved about it. We had wraps, chefs fav burger, the chefs fav platter and a chicken sandwich. The chicken skewer was particularly tasty. All were delicious. Reasonably priced as well. I’d recommend for a casual and satisfying meal experience.
I love this place. The staff are great, and the food is always fresh and high quality. The prices are very reasonable, the service is fast, and the portions are generous! I keep coming back and I'm always satisfied and happy when I leave.

Stumbled upon this place as we were looking for dinner after 9pm. It is a small place with a few vegetarian options. Got the falafel burger with fries, veggie falafel wrap. The fries were fresh, Falafel burger was tasty but was on the drier side. Needed some more sauces. The veggie wrap was sour due to the excess Tahini sauce. People were warm & friendly. Worth a visit

Maybe we had an off day. Had an early dinner here yesterday. The Chicken Shawarma bowl was just meh. The chicken didn’t have a good crispy edge to it. The onion topping with the sumac was good. The kofta wrap was ok.

Ok, I live close by and last week I was walking by when someone was handing out to-go menu's. Said the food was great and to check out Google reviews, there are 2 reviews, now 3. I will tell you this was really bad, my friend had a chicken sandwich, the chicken patty was so thin, I don't think I've even seen something so ridiculous. I had Chef's Fav burger, the only good thing about this burger was the Jalapeños aioli. Was not juicy, was lacking Jalapeños there were 3 small slices, the avocado was a sliver. They definitely need to improve on the burger side. I don't recommend to my followers. I may try again in a few months to see if they improved.
